He may have got a touch too much into shell (fair criticism) but ALL WE NEEDED WASS TO SEE OFF THE NEW BALL.

Day 2 - Kohli and Dhawan didn't score a boundary for 10-15 overs and took the score to 255-2.

Once you get set on this pitch, runs will come and ball gets older and it becomes easy too.

But our GREAT LINEUP is too unskilled to even survive.

How hard is to play Herath.

Stay on the crease.

Watch the ball carefully.

you won't get out unless you get a unseen jaffa.
 
We need to paradrop VVS in there somehow.

I think they were too scared to sweep herath and the lankans kept close in fielders to create pressure, something had to give and it did.

All three produced the least bouncy and least green wickets ever seen at home in order to please the Indian team and the BCCI in the hope of getting them to tour as often as possible so that they could get lucrative Indian TV rights sales.

I really wouldn't read anything into it.

Nz pitches flatten out after 2 days.

Its happening for all. Even for Eng and SL it happened.

Aus produced pattas for even SA. So its not us but drop in pitches.

SA may have produced slightly easier tracks for matches to last 5 days. That I agree.
 
Knew India were in trouble the moment I saw Dhawan batting in the morning. It was very unnatural of him to play like that. Chasing low scores are tricky and if you assume you have two days to do it, then you are dead.

He's injured, shouldn't have opened innings tbh.. heard that he didn't field yesterday then how he can open the innings..? isn't there's a rule against this..?
 
This Indian test team suck on a whole other level, to be in such a commanding position on the first two days of the match and now we are gonna lose this one is nothing short of embarrasing.
 
I go to cricinfo to check the score, expecting India to be well on track to win.

Big turn around here.

Herath is a very good bowler but modern Indian batsman seem to be weak against spin.

Ashwin only needed to stay in and let Rahane knock off the runs.

I agree with [MENTION=50394]IndianWillow[/MENTION] that they were too defensive this morning, but at 81-7 you really don't need to be chipping lofted on-drives.

Aus/SA tour had 500 runs scores in a day twice. Australia made roads to negate Steyn, and Philander was rendered a fangless snake, averaging 50 at a strike rate of 100! NZ wickets are hostile only for first day or two, it had nothing to with India's tour. SA wickets weren't as tough as they generally are, but it has got nothing to do with India touring there. Most home teams want the match to last five days, else they lose a lot of money.
 
Only a fluke can get us close.

At least when Ashwin was there, there was hope of 1 end being tied up.

He has it in him to play clutch knocks and he only plays those knocks but threw it away.

All you needed to do was not freaking get out.
 
As expected, a very weak batting Indian side and that too going with 5 bowlers is suicidal.

Rohit should stick to odi cricket. Need to find a replacement for Saha and Bhajji is a pure passenger.

He has to farm the strike. Stranger things have happened in cricket, but India has to believe they can come back from here first. Their body language isn't showing that.

This is where Ashwin's dismissal is to heartbreaking.

I would be give a harsh talk to Ashwin if I were coach. If you ability and screw it up, you deserve the rebuke.
