What a start by SA.. Sri Lanka 16/2 (5.0 ov).. Sangakkara bounced out in first ball..
 
Tharanga the king of all edges, gets out the only way he knows, getting caught behind. Sanga gone for 0. Vithanage and debutant Niroshan Dickwella in for Chandimal and Thirimanne.
 
Makes sense why he is not considered a legend, over 30 percent of his hundreds on the flattest road in cricket history..
 
Kausal Silva, the 5 foot of love is very pleasing to watch. There are like 200 fans in the stadium :facepalm:

jayawardane approaching yet another test 100 . a tad quicker than sachin's 100th 100 in that ODI against bangladesh :D
 
If SL lose quick wickets now, it will demean any work they've done thus far. Hopefully, these two kick on and bat as long as the next session. Run rate is very healthy.
 
Hopefully, Mahela gets his average up to 50. Right now it's 49.80
 
SA need one more before the new ball. On the other hand, If Sri Lanka can post 400 plus in the 1st innings at the rate they are going, they should be on top.
 
SA need one more wicket. SL need 100 more runs.

Morne and Steyn hae touched 90 mph + several times. Lot of bounces on the pitch. Some crazy fool at the ground, ordering SL players what to do.
 
WTH is Mubarak doing here with SL test uniform and drinks in his hand ? He isn't even in the squad and hasn't played Test for the last 7 yearsMubarak.jpg

Dickwella and Sangakkara played for the same school and currently playing both of em are playing for the same club.

Anyway, good cricket from SL. After being dismissed cheaply in the 1st Test, we have come back strong. There's still a long way to go and it'll be hard but SL have to aim for 400. Apparently, batting becomes better on day 2 and 3 so they'll need to post a mammoth total.

I hope they start the bowling with Mathews and Lakmal for 6-9 overs, then the spinners can take over. The good thing is that the spin attack has some variation. Problem is if spin doesn't work on this track, SL will have to wait until the 2nd new ball but they will only have Lakmal to use for the new ball as a proper bowler.
 
Have not seen the pitch nor the match will have to catch the highlights later.

But 5 wickets in the 1st day of a test in the subcontinent can't be a bad effort.
If the next 5 wickets could fall for say 100 runs or less then that would be sweet.

The downside is Lanka have scored very quickly though. 300 runs within 90 overs can't be ideal irrespective of the pitch.

This will prolly be a draw and SA will walk away with a series win shows how much significant it was of Pakistan's drawn series with SA last year

Tahir bowled so many full tosses in that innings to Vithanage but he couldn't put them away. Even Duminy had more control.

Zippe... I mean we played bad shots.

South Africa didn't bowl well today, too many runs given away and two of these wickets were taken by part-time Duminy.
 
Mahela looks tired as hell. Age has caught up with him, doesn't look like he recovered from yesterday
 
Dickwella doesn't look like a nervous wreck or a headless chicken like typical SL debutants. Thirimanne and Chandimal are probably crappping in their pants right now.
 
Beautiful 1 bounce 4 for Dickwella. Finally a SL youngster that doesn't look like he has been hit by a famine or have been over fed.
 
Dickwella turned 21 last month. Abesinghe trying to jinx and get Mahela and or DIckwella out
 
19 Test matches with 70 wickets for Ajantha Mendis. Hope he learns the importance of stock ball. Abeysinghe blaming his downfall on his injury.
 
Dickwella looks to be a good prospect , but needs to be seen in alien conditions before been judged properly.
 
Morne Morkel pushes Dickwella away who accidentally ran into Morne after hitting 2 consecutive boundary.
 
jayawardane has scored 150 lol....this has to be the flattest track in the world....expect a boring draw

Philtrundler is completely useless on SC tracks. He doesn't have pace or bounce, needs to develop cutters if he is gonna be effective in SC.
 
LBW of Mahela declined by Kettleborough. Morne begs Amla to take DRS, Amla rejects the call and Morne doesn't look too happy with Amla's decision. Kettleborough made a good call, height issue.
