That's pretty valid point, Sarfraz dominates spinners very well. He cannot slog like Akmal in death it can dominate in middle overs because of his range of shots and use of crease against spin

But he occasionally bats at a good strike rate, so he is surely suited to batting at 7, is he not? :afridi

Some good turn and bounce by Herath

You need a big shot player at that stage. Sarfraz does not have big shots, he can hit sweep, cuts and drive but not big slog shots like Akmal. Where as Akaml is poor player of spin, does not have much game plan against quality spinners, he goes into defensive shell, loose his game but can dominate fast bowlers with his big shots.

Shafiq can't be lunging against Herath. His reach is too small. Got to be moving his feet or deep in the crease.

Shafiq is very underrated part of our test team

His good thing is that he can just stick to the wicket and hold one end safe which is golden for a team like ours which is prone to collapsing

That was my point. I was just speaking from the thick-tank point of view.

Yup.I've always been a fan of his.

You are over estimating Shafiq, Sarfraz has forced SL to defensive game that has allowed Shafiq to come out of his shell, he would have lost his wicket if he had to bat for 30 mins with that pressure. There are players who dominate and impose game on opposition and there are ones who hide behind others.

Shafiq is pretty average player, Pakistan should have invested in better player, our standards are low unfortunately. His technique is not that solid, weak personality, range of shot is limited. a passive player,

Either way, an absolutely fantastic knock from a world-class player. Well done Sarfraz. We are proud of you. :14:

What an idiot!
He has got out so many times with this silly shot.
Never learns.

It's OK. At the start of day 4, if someone told me Sarfraz will score 96, I would've taken in gladly!

Let's see what Wahab and Yasir can do...

Great knock by Sarfraz, get Pakistan out of jail once again!!

Are you freakin' kidding me!? Man just saved us!

Pathetic fans.

I wasn't referring to his overall innings. That's well done.
He threw away his wicket in the end. Pathetic attempt in taking something out of the context.

A sad end in deed. Why playing risky shot at this stage?

You guys have to understand this is Sarfraz's normal mode of play. No one was complaining when his outrageous attacking shots were coming off. It's what has allowed him to rescue Pakistan. Now, blaming him for playing that shot is kind of hypocritical. You ca't on one hand sing his praises when the risky shots come off but then slay him when it doesn't. It's a dangerous approach which has worked for him so far.

Beautifully said.

Wahab needs to go swinging. Needs to stop pretending he's a batsman. He'll get out if he keeps defending.

Wahab is not looking very confident against Herat [emoji27][emoji27]

Wahab needs to get his test battng average to 20-25. I think he is more than capable of that and can be super valuable

An avg of 9 after this many matches does no do justice

He is the only player apart from Younis who scored a century in South Africa. Averages in the 40's. What more can he do?

If Shafiq is average than I guess our other Batsmen are Bradman reincarnated? I am sorry but these Bradman could not do half of what Shafiq did today apart from Sarfaraz.

Especially when he's batting at no.8. A No.8 with a batting average of 9.5 makes it the longest tail in test cricket right now.

Shafiqe should take the strike and score some boundary rather than exposing wahab ......taking single of first ball

I think Harris Sohail was much better player to invest in last 4 years. He has better defense, plus he is lefty could have helped us tackle Herat and give a different angle to seamers. He played well in WC considering he has to bat in pressure on bouncy tracks. He got out in most matches accelerating not bowlers wicket. He faced Styen, Strac, Johson lot better than anyother Pakistan in those conditions. That tells me he could have being great in test in those conditions.

In up coming batsmen rizwan and Babar are players to invest for future both better than Shafiq.
