Stallions (199/5) overpower Markhors (124) by 75 runs in the final, becoming the inaugural PCB Champions T20 Cup 2024 winners

Most of Pakistan fast bowlers look unfit, not fit
enough.

Fast bowlers fitness is so important. Over age is just an excuse, look at Starc's speed is in mid 140s

No wonder our fast bowler turn into trundlers after few years due to no proper fitness programme or discipline.

Well they aren't children. Ultimately they haven't taken responsibility and then fail.

The bottom line is they are not interested in improving themselves or committed enough. I can see why so many people have lost interest and why we are producing mediocre cricket. Psl is pretty much the last nail in the coffin for our cricket. Players are more interested in Psl and easy money than playing fro the country.

I agree

The whole culture is extremely toxic. Lack of leaders in Pakistan cricket. You have a player like Babar Azam who says there should be no fitness test of players before ODI WC
That's because we have a board of clowns letting them. You create rules and then you enforce them consistently. They would quickly learn

As a mentor, Shoaib Malik was due to bat for his own team. Shameful stuff.
Lost interest after the first day. Tournament full of same old rubbish players while someone like arafat Minhas who's good enough for Pakistan is not selected in any of the teams.

UMT Markhors and ABL Stallions start on winning note

UMT Markhors and ABL Stallions registered impressive four-wicket and 35-run wins respectively, as the Bahria Town Champions T20 Cup got off to a rousing start at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

The two matches saw a number of talented players displaying their talent, with the 19-year-old local boy Saad Masood playing a man-of-the-match role in UMT Markhors’ win over Nurpur Lions in the opening game.

The highlight of day one was a superlative century by experienced international all-rounder Hussain Talat who smashed an unbeaten 50-ball 101 for ABL Stallions, his maiden T20 century.

In the first match, UMT Markhors’ Masood finished with 2-20 and was ably supported by Mohammad Sarwar Afridi (2-11) and Nisar Ahmed (2-21) to keep Lions down to 150-7. For Lions Mohammad Awais Zafar top-scored with a 34-ball 40 with five boundaries. Hasan Nawaz hit a rapid 13-ball 22 with one six and three boundaries.

Markhors’ chase was anchored by opener Fakhar Zaman who scored a 25-ball 28 with a six and three fours before skipper Iftikhar Ahmed’s unbeaten 34-ball 42 with two sixes and a boundary crossed the line in company of Masood, sharing an unbroken 50-run stand for the seventh wicket.

In the Allied Bank Stallions win, Talat and Haris shared a rampaging 128-run third wicket stand after Lake City Panthers sent them into bat. Talat cracked a dozen boundaries and three maximums. Opener Yasir Khan gave Stallions a brisk start with a 15-ball 27 inclusive of two sixes and three boundaries.

The chase for Lake City Panthers started on a wrong note when their skipper Shadab Khan was ruled out and could not bat due to back pain. Haider Ali (26-ball 54) smashed four towering sixes and five boundaries in his 26-ball cracker and during his third wicket stand of 40 with Mubasir Khan (19-ball 29 with three fours and a six) it looked like their team would succeed in the chase. But spinner Usman Tariq, who took 3-25, removed Haider to halt the progress. In the end City Lake Panthers managed 181 in 19.1 overs. Pacer Mohammad Ali also bagged three wickets in his four overs giving away 33 runs.

People aren't gonna watch a third domestic T20 tournament consisting of a bunch of random teams with no geographic affiliation.

With PSL and National T20 Cup, this competition is redundant. This domestic season has been the worst organised in years.

What is going on? Where is @emranabbas these days to explain this

I think it was probably best to just cancel the South Africa/Zimbabwe tour and the Under-19 Asia cup to play domestic T20 instead, so Bewal Express can sit back and enjoy some thrilling domestic cricket.

oh bhai players are still in Zimbabwe and some are traveling to south Africa for international matches and others are playing u19 asia cup

Here's why you shouldn't take Babar and Rizwan fans seriously:

Arafat Minhas just played an international game in Zimbabwe two days ago, and is probably s at the airport catching a connecting flight back to Pakistan. Yet, this genius is asking why he isn't playing in a domestic T20 game right now. lol

It was general point about the chaos in domestic cricket with tournaments starting late, players not even knowing which teams they are playing for or playing at all and the appalling standard of QA trophy.

For a start I am not their fan and already called stated they should be dropped from t20s. Secondly my problem is not him playing today rather he's not in any of the squads.

Now could you please remind us how Rohail nazir, Farhan sahibzada etc are better batsmens than Babar. Thank you. Surely only a few genius like you think that?

Umar Siddiq stars in Lake City Panthers first win

Opening batter Umar Siddiq smashed a brilliant unbeaten 78 and all-rounder Amad Butt grabbed three wickets as Lake City Panthers routed Engro Dolphins by eight wickets to open their account in the Bahria Town Champions T20 Cup in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

Siddiq's aggressive 53-ball knock was spiced with four towering sixes and eight boundaries. He gave Lake City Panthers a rollicking start with 33 coming in the first three overs and by the tenth over they had reached 86 for the loss of Sharjeel Khan 14.

Siddiq and stand-in skipper Haider Ali, deputising for unfit Shadab Khan, added a rapid 101 for the second wicket to bring their team within 23 runs of victory. Mubasir Khan, who scored 16 not out, hit the winning six as the 161-run target was achieved in 16 overs. Haider's 28-ball 46 contained five boundaries and two sixes.

Engro Dolphnis’ total of 160-8 showed most of the batters got starts but did not make it big, with promising youngster Mohammad Huraira the highest scorer with a 32-ball 37 that contained four boundaries and a six.

Mohammad Suleman struck two sixes and a boundary in his 27-ball 34 while Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (27, 16b, 3x4s, 1x6) and Shayan Sheikh (20, 12b, 4x4s) chipped in with useful contributions as 55 runs came in the last five overs. For Panthers, all-rounder Amad Butt was the pick of the bowlers with 3-19 while Mohammad Ibtisam finished with 2-30.

Umar Siddiq looks proper player and plus he is keeper. He is a proven domestic performer and should be back up keeper instead of Usman and Haseebulah

I agree as a part time keeper he is grt but to be fair he has never been consistent enough

He's nearly 32. Been around a long time from the time of Lahore Lions. This is the first time in a while-while that he has played a good knock in this format.

Let him play a tournament first. He still averages 20 with 115 Strike Rate in his long T20 career.

I like the look of Ghazi ghouri

Looks far more impressive than Haseebullah, Usman Khan. He has played for Shaheens as well

I called it a few weeks ago. He looks a solid prospect specially for the long format. Sulieman also looked pretty good and will be knocking on the door pretty soon.

Mohammad Sulaiman was the best Shaneen batter vs SL A also from little highlights I have seen he looks a proper player one good season he should be in the test squad

First time seeing him bat looks compact and plays the ball late which is a good sign for a test batter. Such a shame none of the games of the FC are televised which would have given a better picture rather than t20s.

Talat’s best quality is his ability to play behind the wicket post powerplay and also manipulate the field with laps/reverse sweeps

No one in the current Pakistan team can do anything of this sort

He has grit but for such a big guy it's amazing how he has always struggled with timing / power.

Rawalpindi. Allied Bank Stallions defeated Norpur Lions by 12 runs in the Bahria Town Champions T20 Cup.

Stallions' second win in a row.

Hussain Talat's unbeaten half-century.

Player of the match Shoaib Malik's excellent all-round performance, scoring 39 runs and taking two wickets.

ABL Stallions win two in two with victory over Nurpur Lions

Rawalpindi, 9 December 2024:

ABL Stallions go top of the Bahria Town Champions T20 Cup points table with an impressive 12-run win over Nurpur Lions, achieving their second win in as many matches.

ABL Stallions were helped to 162-5 in 20 overs by a solid unbeaten 36-ball 51 by Hussain Talat who knocked his maiden T20 hundred in the team's victory over Lake City Panthers on Saturday. They then restricted Lions to 150-7 in 20 overs.

Shoaib Malik (2-23), Usman Tariq (2-23) and Zaman Khan (2-38) put brakes on the rival batting as Lions have now lost both their games. Lake City Panthers have won one and lost one while UMT Markhors have one win in one and Engro Dolphins have lost their only game.

Chasing 163 for victory, Lions got off to a worst possible start with opening batter Zeeshan Malik dismissed for a three-ball duck. It brought Imam-ul-Haq and Hasan Nawaz together for a 71-run stand. Imam's 43 came off 28 balls inclusive of four boundaries and a six while Hasan's 25-ball 30 were studded with a six and three boundaries.

Rohail Nazir and Muhammad Awais Zafar fell for three each, leaving the Lions in a spot of bother. With the asking rate soaring, Khushdil Shah and Aamer Yamin came together with 66 needed in 43 deliveries which came down to 26 in 12. Mohammad Ali conceded just four runs in the penultimate over to almost seal the match.

Zaman Khan, known for death overs mastery, gave away just nine to give Stallions victory. Khushdil scored 28 and Aamer made unbeaten 27 off 24 balls with the help of one six.

Hussain Talat was once again the architect of Stallions innings after they were sent into bat by Lions. He cracked five boundaries in his 36-ball knock, adding an invaluable 88 for the fifth wicket with team mentor cum player Shoaib Malik to steady the innings.

Malik scored a 30-ball 39 with four boundaries. Mohammad Haris hit the only six of the innings in his 18-ball 25, also hitting two boundaries. Maaz Sadaqat once again showed his promise with a 29-ball 32 including five hits to the rope. Pacer Musa Khan was the pick of Lions' bowlers with 2-31.

Scores in brief:

Match 4 – Allied Bank Stallions beat Nurpur Lions by 12 runs, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium

Allied Bank Stallions 162-5 in 20 overs (Hussain Talat 51 not out, Shoaib Malik 39, Maaz Sadaqat 32, Mohammad Haris 25; Musa Khan 2-31)

Player of the match – Shoaib Malik (Allied Bank Stallions)

Shows you the standard of the tournament when the team's mentor is playing his super old self and winning MOTM. As a mentor, you are supposed to find and help develop talent so how do you do that by taking a crucial spot from players who need those in-game reps to develop?

LOL at the mentor playing himself and doing better job as well. The lack of quality is quite visible

Khawaja Nafay the Master Chaser is lighting up the show.

Khawaja Mohammad Nafay Shines as UMT Markhors Overcome Engro Dolphins in Thrilling Match

Opening batter Khawaja Mohammad Nafay smashed a fiery half-century to anchor UMT Markhors’ two-wicket win over a fighting Engro Dolphins on the fourth day of the Bahria Town Champions T20 Cup in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. Nafay’s 41-ball 68, spiced with four sixes and as many fours, guided UMT Markhors to overhaul the modest 129-run target in 18.5 overs, giving them their second win in as many games. The Misbah-ul-Haq mentored team now stands second with four points, while ABL Stallions lead the table with a superior net run-rate despite also having four points from two matches.

The 22-year-old Nafay from Karachi lifted his team from the early loss of Fakhar Zaman (0), Muhammad Shahzad (11, 9b, 2x4s), and Abdul Samad (1, 3b), adding 29 for the fourth wicket with skipper Iftikhar Ahmed (5). Spinner Qasim Akram dismissed Nafay leg-before and then two more wickets fell as Dolphins fought back, but Mohammad Nawaz ensured the chase was completed with a cautious 19-ball 18 not out, including two fours, while Akif Javed hit the winning boundary.

Dolphins, who have now lost both their matches, were given an ideal start by fast bowler Sameen Gul, who took three early wickets. However, no other bowler could derail the rampaging Markhors. Earlier, sent into bat, Engro Dolphins lost Sahibzada Farhan in the first over, without scoring. Muhammad Akhlaq hit a 33-ball 40, studded with two sixes and three boundaries, while Mirza Tahir Baig knocked 28-ball 29 with two sixes and a boundary. Dolphins relied on vice-captain Qasim Akram (14) and experienced batter Umar Amin (11), but they slumped from 81-2 to 128-9. Nawaz grabbed 3-28, while fast-rising pacer Akif Javed finished with 2-33.

Scores in brief:

Match 5 – UMT Markhors beat Engro Dolphins by two wickets, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium

  • Engro Dolphins 128-9 in 20 overs (Muhammad Akhlaq 40, Mirza Tahir Baig 29; Mohammad Nawaz 3-28, Akif Javed 2-33)
  • UMT Markhors 132-8 in 18.5 overs (Khawaja Mohammad Nafay 68, Mohammad Nawaz 18 not out; Sameen Gul 3-23, Qasim Akram 2-11)
Player of the match – Khawaja Mohammad Nafay (UMT Markhors)

Tomorrow’s fixture: Nurpur Lions vs Lake City Panthers, 12pm at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Looks like all the batsmen struggled to score on that pitch while Khawaja batted quite well and quite fast. Great to see.

i remember there was a time people would be watching games live with match threads, PCB reduced to level where even the t20 cup gets five or six posts per game. fwiw looks like a pretty rubbish tournament with no outstanding batting again.
