The 2016 U.S. Elections Thread

you're just making a fool out of yourself now. no one posts documents as a proof. They posted those news as FACTS and if they're wrong they would be sued.

that is not FACT. do u know what fact is. in any case we should know soon enough.

that is not FACT. do u know what fact is. in any case we should know soon enough.

Like I said, stop making fool of yourself here. So the title "5 Facts about Cetin" are writer's opinions or unverified statements? Lol..

yeah of course they are unverified. unless u think heavy.com woke everybody up at night and went over to verify everything? even they qualify everything by saying 'according to friends'.

if they didn't verify it I am sure Trump would be able to make easy money. Let's see if they get sued or not.

yet another radical islamist who was a hillary supporter then. imagine had he been a trump supporter, there'd be 24 hr coverage on cnn.

hillary is yet to even put out any sort of statement about the massacre.

hope dayvancowboy stops his line about how american muslims are better assimilated than british ones at least now.

anuk stop pretending that your allies will somehow spare you when another Cronulla-style riot occurs and see you as the enemy for having brown skin.

Anuk will probably assume that Eliot Rodger is a "Radical" or RooshV is one because he's Iranian lol

moderates like u and i stuck between a rock and a hard place bro :(

Trump got destroyed. He was able to deal with know nothing Republicans but kept his tone down in this debate except for the first few minutes. He lied about his position on Iraq war and blamed it on media for misleading people. Even though he did support Iraq war back in 2002, there is an audio evidence of his support for Iraq war. Then he said Hillary has been fighting ISIS all his adult life. Yeah Hillary has been fighting ISIS since 1965, what non sense. He had no proper answer to his taxes, bankruptcies and his real estate company discriminating against AA's.

Not sure what the latest polls are but these debates are mostly for those sitting on the fence, the hardcore supporters will continue to remain unchanged.

should get a clearer picture of where everybody stands after the latest round of polls. i'm almost certain trump would have gained ground on hillary after this debate.

Lol are you sure you watched the right debate? Trump got annihilated. He was reduced to a bumbling idiot, talking about his taxes, Putin, etc.

who won the debate for u and me is probably decided by our preconceived biases and is most definitely subjective. there is no point arguing over that, we should see the polls soon enough.

so i guess independent focus groups should be more indicative? Hillary smashes him on those

but i doubt these debates make any difference whatsoever at Presidential elections (not primary) asides from being good TV

Do u have a link to the focus group results conducted post debate? Genuinely curious.

just do a simple google search

saw em in the morning and on phone so cant right now

I really do feel bad for Americans, both Trump and Clinton are riddled with problems, and lies. But when I see that Bernie Sanders was pushed out for these two i dont anymore.

Lesser of two evils is hillary.

It's awesome isn't it, it's like a game of thrones the politics except with not as much filler content :yk

OK watched the debate and will analyse as objectively as possible.

1) Trump started strong and crushed Clinton on the issue of trade deals. His appeal is strong particularly amongst disaffected white working-class voters in the Rust Belt so he did well to bring up NAFTA (though its effects on jobs overblown) and TPP - which Clinton supported before U-turning when Sanders pushed her on it. Wasn't a fan of the "Trumped Up Trickle Down" soundbite either but rightly stated that Trump's economic plan would add $5 trillion to the debt.

2) The debate turned during the race issue. Trump was channelling Richard Nixon and 1968 with his law and order theme (the hand of Roger Ailes perhaps ?) Clinton was strong on criminal justice reform whereas Trump did nothing to appeal to minorities, said nothing about unarmed blacks being gunned down by police and described their inner cities as "hell" despite FBI data showing violent crime is near RECORD LOWS.

Hey Donald, maybe if you and your rich buddies paid federal taxes these communities could be invested in.

3) Clinton won on national security, Trump has been all over the show on issue of nuclear weapons/proliferation suggesting he'd turn a blind eye to an arms race in East Asia ! His mention of a "400lb cyber-hacker sitting on his bed" did make me laugh though. His continual bashing of the Iran deal won't play well given it enjoys popular support amongst Americans bar the hard-right hawks.

Also his bashing of the 2011 Iraq withdrawal was ridiculous and flat-out false. Maliki govt didn't want to grant immunity to American troops and the withdrawal agreement was made under George Bush, so the US troops were kicked out. Is he seriously suggesting the US should've just colonised the country like an imperial power ?

Clinton then nailed Trump with a great response about his questioning of her stamina. Trump also received damning laughter after claiming he had better temperament. So whilst Trump started great, he petered out badly and Clinton wins Round 1.

I think Trump lost the debate, despite having a strong start, but Hillary did not particularly gain from it either.

Its true. People saw only skeletons from Trump's closet being dug. No questions on Clinton Foundation, Emails (only Trump brought that up), Haiti, pay 2 play. But given the media is in the tank for Clinton he can't expect any better. It is what he needs to prepare for.. such is the nature of being the underdog where it is you vs The world.

personally i think it's better to get the skeletons out of the way in the first debate itself.

Trumps eccentric, say it as he sees it, be as controversial media whorish approach as possible was only going to work for so long. There is no way was Hillary not going to prepare for these debates and be prepared for every X, Y, Z Trump was going to throw out there.

This is always the problem with peaking too early in an election. Based on observation, the last 4-6 weeks and even the last week is the most critical where everything can change.

Trump did well for first 20-30 minutes but from there it was all down hill. His lies and weaknesses caught up with him and he was made to look ridiculous.

No wonder Trump didn't want to release the tax returns.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/02/u...kage-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0

Donald J. Trump declared a $916 million loss on his 1995 income tax returns, a tax deduction so substantial it could have allowed him to legally avoid paying any federal income taxes for up to 18 years, records obtained by The New York Times show.

I hope people by now can see for themselves how ridiculous this notion is of Trump being a savvy businessman.

A savvy businessman doesn't lose nearly $1bn in one year. A savvy businessman doesn't file for bankruptcy over and again nor would be barred from borrowing from major US banks due to his record of not repaying his loans. A savvy businessman wouldn't have $650 million in debt across his companies.

And for all this talk of Trump's business acumen, if all he did was invest his father's inheritance in an index fund - he could've been $10bn richer than he is now !

I find it sad how Trump appeals to these working-class white voters who simply don't have the means to dodge taxes for nearly two decades.

Uh oh, Trump's chickens are coming home to roost. First the tax issue, now the Trump Foundation has been ordered to stop fundraising in New York:

http://edition.cnn.com/2016/10/03/politics/trump-foundation-cease-and-desist/

Washington (CNN) New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman ordered Donald Trump's charity to immediately halt fundraising in the state, following reports that it had not submitted to routine audits mandated by the state, the office announced Monday.

Schneiderman sent notice Friday to the Trump Foundation, alerting that it broke state law when it raised more than $25,000 from outside donors without filing properly with the state. New York requires charities to conduct annual audits to solicit donations.

And just last month a federal judge allowed a lawsuit by former Trump University students against Trump to proceed. The testimony of Trump University ex-employees is DAMNING:

http://money.cnn.com/2016/06/01/news/trump-university-employees/

In sworn statements released this week as part of a federal class action lawsuit, former employees complained of unethical sales techniques, unqualified instructors and widely unsatisfied students.

"I resigned from my position in May 2007 because I believe that Trump University was engaging in misleading, fraudulent and dishonest conduct," said Ronald Schnackenberg, who said in his statement he had been a sales manager for six months. He said he believed it was a "fraudulent scheme and that it preyed on the elderly and uneducated to separate them from their money."

Schnackenberg told the story of a couple he talked to the month before he quit who had no money to pay the $35,000 tuition. He said they were talked into using the husband's disability income and a home equity loan to pay for it. "I did not feel it was an appropriate program for them because of their precarious financial condition," he wrote. "Trump University reprimanded me for not trying harder to sell the program to this couple."

"I believe most of the instructors, mentors and coaches had very little or no experience in the real estate techniques they were teaching," said Schnackenberg. "In my experience, virtually all students who purchased a Trump University seminar were dissatisfied with the program they purchased. To my knowledge, not a single consumer who paid for a Trump University seminar program went on to successfully invest in real estate based upon the techniques they were taught."

Wow, These accounts are unbelievable in highlighting how Trump stiffed these students big time. Trump even bribed Florida prosecutor Pam Bondi with $25,000 towards her re-election bid when it appeared she was about to open an investigation into Trump University. This should be the last guy on earth railing against the corruption of Clinton :))

WHAT THE HELL ?! Trump is imploding before our eyes. There goes his support amongst veterans.

Donald Trump says some veterans are not 'strong enough' to handle the mental health damage from war

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/10/04/donald-trump-says-some-veterans-are-not-strong-enough-to-handle/

Donald Trump has sparked a social media firestorm by telling a group of military veterans that some members of the military develop mental health issues because they are not "strong" and "can't handle it".

The Republican presidential contender was in northern Virginia on Monday morning, where he held a question and answer session with a group of pro-Trump military members. He criticised the Obama administration for failing the country’s veterans – an oft-repeated refrain – and was asked about mental health problems among the military.

"When you talk about the mental health problems, when people come back from war and combat, they see things that maybe a lot of the folks in this room have seen many times over,” he said.

“And you're strong and you can handle it, but a lot of people can't handle it.

"And they see horror stories, they see events that you couldn’t see in a movie — nobody would believe it."

How would Draft Dodging Donald know about the horrors of the battlefield ? He spent the Vietnam years in New York nightclubs claiming he couldn't go due to some "bone spurs" in his heels.

A small turn-around for Trump today.

In the Vice Presidential debate his running mate Mike Pence has made Clinton's running mate Tim Kaine look foolish. Who on earth told Kaine to imitate Trump by interrupting constantly?

I guess these veterans were all bought off by the DNC too. Hey, by the way, if Trump actually paid his taxes maybe these veterans could get the healthcare they need.

Zach Iscol, a Marine veteran and executive director of the nonprofit Headstrong Project, which helps provide free care for veterans suffering from PTSD, said Trump’s comments weren’t “just wrong, they’re dangerous.

“The biggest barrier we have to people getting help is the stigma of getting help,” he said. “It just shows a complete misunderstanding of what post-traumatic stress disorder is.”

A teed-off troop of military vets — irate over The Donald’s belittling of PTSD victims — demonstrated outside Trump Tower in Midtown Tuesday.

The former servicemembers, holding signs such as “sacrifice is not weakness,” denounced the self-destructing GOP presidential nominee a day after he suggested veterans battling post-traumatic stress disorder aren’t strong.

What Donald Trump did was very, very, very damaging to the cause of getting people to seek treatment,” said Katherine Scheirman, a Manhattan resident who served 20 years as a military doctor in the Air Force. “It’s so frightening to think of him as our commander in chief.

Scheirman added that the comments were particularly reprehensible coming from a draft dodger.

“These aren't idle comments. They have consequences,” said Sean Barney, 41, a former Marine and PTSD sufferer who received a medical discharge in 2007 after he was shot in the neck in Iraq.

"If he were commander-in-chief and that was the message that was sent to people in the military and in the veteran's community, it would cost lives."

Also I notice your radio silence on the Trump Foundation, Trump University and tax return scandals.

Kaine was trying too hard , he had all the content and facts to go for the kill but Pence just towered over him with his calm demeanour.

This is obscene, reprehensible and possibly a campaign-killer. All of Trump's skeletons are coming out of the closet now.

Senior Republicans condemn Trump's lewd comments about women

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2016-37593392

Senior Republicans have condemned obscene comments Donald Trump made about women in a 2005 videotape.

In the video, posted by the Washington Post, Mr Trump is heard telling TV host Billy Bush "you can do anything" to women "when you're a star".

The New York businessman bragged about trying to have sex with a married woman as well as kissing and groping others.

Mr Trump later issued an apology: "I said it. I was wrong, I apologise. I pledge to be a better man."
Already Trump is deflecting by talking about Bill Clinton's affairs - but Bill Clinton isn't running for office, YOU are and your attitudes toward women, viewing them as no more than appendages to your perverted and gross sexual antics, disqualifies you from office. Trump has no respect for a gender that makes up half the population.

You can't take the moral high ground on Bill Clinton because YOUR hands are dirty (in more ways than one).

But Trump and his supporters will keep talking about how they will liberate Muslim women in the Middle East and how he invoked Qandeel Baloch's name.

Let's see how trump supporters defend this now. So do Americans want a president who likes to sexually assault women?

Trump is finished. But then again, American status-quo resembles the movie Idiocracy. Trump might win the elections

*Yawn* More faux outrage over virtue signalling. Trump has supporters because we are upset with the direction of the country towards globalist ideals than national ones. Let them whine over some politically correct garbage.

very crude thing to say. i'm glad trump has apologized for it.

Trump should go back to Germany now. He wanted to ban people for not following American values i.e. respecting women. He would be deported if he was to take his own test of American values.

It is, but this was said in private. How do you talk when you're among your best mates?

At least the liberals can't claim anymore Trump is not a blue collared billionaire. :srt

I agree, but respectfully point out that the Republican Party has supported globalisation these last twenty years.

Trump's populism has more in common with Bernie Sanders than the Republican Party.

Politically correct garbage is criticisng someone bragging about SEXUAL ASSAULT ? The brainwashing is strong in this one.

At least anuk has the decency to condemn Trump's outrageous comments about hitting on married women WITHOUT their consent. You conservatives would be the first to jump on here if this was President Obama.

Interesting to note a litany of Republicans are now withdrawing their endorsement for Trump. Apparently some RNC staffers are openly defying orders to work for the Trump campaign !

http://uk.businessinsider.com/rnc-staffers-trump-women-2005-audio-2016-10?r=US&IR=T

RNC also halt Victory project work for Trump. This campaign is unravelling.

Sexual assault is a bit much. He made an idiotic comment as he sometimes tends to do. I'm glad he apologized for his comment but sexual assault? Lol.

U need to give this a rest at least on this forum. Nobody on the de niro thread you started seems to be too insulted by it either.

Have you listened to the audio in full. Yes or no ? He is bragging about hitting on women WITHOUT consent.

I don't know about you or your moral standards but that's sexual assault, and the fact a Presidential nominee is bragging about being a pervert is revolting and sick so don't tell me I'm overreacting.

I wonder what these Trump supporters would say if Trump hit on their wife or daughter. The words Second Amendment rights spring to mind...

BTW I didn't start the De Niro thread, get your eyes checked.

I did listen to it in full. It's a crude thing to say and he apologized for it. I have heard many people including myself say things that are similar to it.

I assume u are trying to create a convrsation when clearly the forum has been indifferent to what was said. Please keep me out of this from now on and carry on with ur crusade with ppl who actually give a damn, like that cowboy dude.

It was much worse than flirtatious banter. But if casual sexism is your thing then thank god my loved ones who are women aren't anywhere near your social circle.

Trump's own wife and his running mate has condemned his comments along with countless Republicans who are withdrawing their endorsements of Trump because of this scandal so why would I care about the reaction on PP :))

Believe me, Trump's already in enough trouble.

As for my "crusade", hey if fighting against a pathological liar who propagates racism, Islamophobia, misogyny who even mocks the disabled, as well as exposing apologists like yourself is a crusade then count me in.

Let's see whether it makes any difference

The thing is that his die hard a will stay with him no matter what. He's said that pretty much when he said that he wouldn't lose any voters even if he shot random people on the middle of fifth avenue

So 40% of the vote is already tied up

Where this video may hurt is getting those independents. A lot are very turned off by him so this only makes things worse. However the thing is that Clinton is equally disliked so people won't flock to her that easily either. Many will rationalise that a woman who actually has done bad things is worse than a guy who says worse things.

A large segment of the American public believes that Hillary is responsible for the deaths in Benghazi. And this is where I've found her campaign weak. They've been absolute ineffective in deflecting that view point and setting the record straight. The simple fact is that the CIA, FBi and even the republican house committee has exonerated her but yet she has utterly failed to change the narrativeُ. And this is what might lose it for her

Also A vote for a third party is a vote for trump so this helps him there.

Not that I have much sympathy for trump but how is this relevant but bill clintons affair not? Also Hillary did have a huge role post those scandals in shaming and bullying the mistresses. For me all this new video
does is cancel each ither out and both sides would be well advised to not talk about this subject

Anyways the American people have elected a sleaze and a cheat like Bill Clinton before (he'd had multiple affairs pre 1992) so I don't think this will lose trump votes

Firstly, I'm glad your starting point is to condemn Trump's comments unlike some of his supporters like Cracket who wants to blow this off as "PC garbage".

OK its a fair discussion to have. Red State's Sara Gonzalez put it best in an article I agree with. Bill Clinton’s name is not on the ballot anywhere. Hillary is not guilty by association simply for sticking with her husband. Republicans cannot tout the sanctity of marriage and the importance of marriage vows, and then turn around and judge a woman for staying in a marriage, for whatever reason.

Gonzalez also said criticizing Hillary for staying married to Bill BECAUSE of his behaviour towards women, is only admitting that this kind of treatment towards women is wrong. So for those Trump supporters bringing Bill up to minimize Trump’s behaviour is ridiculous and short-sighted. The excuse that someone else's spouse is worse isn't a defence, if something's wrong then its wrong period.

I agree with your other post. Even Republicans admit Benghazi was a political witchhunt designed to weaken her Presidential chances. Clinton is not an effective or inspiring campaigner and comes with a lot of baggage. Her unfavourables are terrible. Even a moderate centre-left Democrat would be running away with this election.

JFK was with a call girl 90 minutes before his first debate with nixon.

u either have to have lived a very sheltered life or just be an idiot not to understand that this is quite common. TBH trump's comments here are quite tame. i run into people who say worse things and do worse things in my life all the time. like i said, i've said similar stuff while with friends and thought nothing of it. i challenge anybody to say that he hasn't known somebody who has made a worse comment than this trump comment. it's very unbecoming of a president but rather this than have huge holes in record as a secretary of state.

and comparing trump to cosby - ROFL.

i never had a problem with clinton cheating either, the problem was with his lying under oath. now that WAS an issue.

No The thing is that Hillary did not just stick by her husband but she led a campaign to discredit and malign the mistresses so saying that she isn't guilty by associated doesn't fly

Rest I agree with

Please grasp the fact that any type of sexual contact or behaviour that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient is ASSAULT. Go look up the legal definition.

The controversy is NOT over harmless flirting or admiring a woman's looks, I know its hard for you but stop playing dumb. He bragged about how because of his status and celebrity he can do anything to women even WITHOUT their consent hence the Cosby comparison. The man is a pervert.

i challenge anybody to say that he hasn't known somebody who has made a worse comment than this trump comment
LOL no my friends don't brag about sexual assault or hitting on women WITHOUT consent !

So we've established this. anuk thinks nothing of hitting on married women without consent. And you want to lecture Muslims about womens' rights ? No offence but you're one creepy individual. No wonder dayvancowboy can't stand you.

lol it's one thing to debate like an adult but calling others names? pretty childish and like i thought u don't have the chops to take me on in a mature manner.

So much for tame comments that nobody is giving thought to :))

Cut your losses GOP, forget the White House and try and hold onto as many House/Senate seats as you can.

Its creepy (and illegal) to force yourself on women without their consent, including married women, and to brag about it which you've just admitted you think nothing of, yes.

Now are you going to reply to those points I raised or not because I have better things to do on a Sunday afternoon.

anuk and Cracket are you guys this naive..? Haven't you heard what he was talking about Baby Tiffany..? Haven't you heard about what he was talking about Ivanka ? Or the way he behaved with her during convention..This guy has a serious problem with women and it goes beyond Clinton level..The only difference was Clinton was put on trial and you guys want an easy pass for Trump.

Nice to see that anuk is rationalizing rape and sexual assault since it's a white man doing it.

Just keep that in mind when anuk starts whining about Islam's view of women later on.

Stupid comments from Trump, however everyone knows that many men (including many of his new senior Republican enemies) have said similar things in private. He was just careless enough to do it when he might be on tape. Reminds me a little bit of Gordon Brown's accidentally recorded tirade against some old woman in 2010 - LOL. These things usually result in one thing: losing the election.

I doubt many men, even privately, say that it is ok to sexually assault women if you are a star

It's not only about what Trump has said but he did as well, and if someone still defends he is no better than those who have sexually assaulted women. He has called girls "fat, piggy, flat chested" on their face. He has sexually assault assaulted women who have filed lawsuits against them. Many republicans are ditching him and rightly so.

Affairs is one thing and that's a norm in American society but sexually assaulting women is a serious crime and shouldn't be equated with postmarital affairs.

Affairs are a norm in American society? That's a very bold statement. May I ask how you reached that conclusion?

I don't think people are actually that stupid to think every public tirade by a politician is down to just carelessness. His campaign has been quite deliberately sensationalist in the attempt to grab the populist vote, whether that was driven by racism, conservatism or sexism. The question for most Americans will only be this: is this man the figure we want to represent us on a world stage after Obama?

Unfortunately I disagree. Men are quite vile creatures you know.

Hmm I don't know which men you hang around with. I would agree that men have a tendency to objectify women. However, most men do not talk about sexually assaulting women. In Trumps case he actually said that he does assault women and gets away with it.

17% divorces in American society are caused by infidelity. Around 70% married men cheat on their wives and around 60% married women had at least one extramarital affair. (That's according to the survey)

those numbers for affairs look way too high.
