Last over before lunch

Looking like a wicketless session

Swann has to bowl defensively after lunch.

rotate the seamers around him, try to induce an error.

nothing happening off the wicket.

that's the least you can expect from your new ball bowler with a fresh cherry.

pls see who has wickets in this innings and who doesn't.

yeah i did. proves that your figures don't reflect how you really bowl. unless you think finn has bowled better or is a better bowler than swann.

if we hadn't wasted our reviews we could have removed Hussey 100 runs ago and we'd look a much better prospect. just a cruel session

Its lunch, and the end of a great session for Australia

DREAM SESSION

MR.CRICKET: TAKE A BOW

Dominant session for Australia, and also marks the return of Mr.Cricket! :D

Aussies on top!

Now Whippy, I agree with you, its going to take one of England's greatest comebacks to win this game

australia will get around 450 now I think. Even a quick collapse, Australia will most likely get 400 still.

The UDRS is a load of ********, whereas before you only had to take ten wickets, you find yourself having to take more.

Aussies session, unlucky england. Jimmy deserves a wicket
England needed to bowl well consistently. Finn and swann didn't do this. Especially finn, just can't keep up the pressure. Always seems to bowl a bad ball each over, only able to string 2 or 3 good overs together at most.

Finn has bowled better than Swann, but he lacks consistency.

Hussey's negated Swann superbly by using his feet which has thrown Graeme off and is making him to lose his length.

Finn has released all the pressure built up in the opening spells of this morning's session. the reason is that he was always garbage and he remains so.
look at how the batsmen were scoring before finn and after finn. and not just the run rate but the batting itself, how it changed.

yep.

Tremlett will come in for Finn at some point. Mark my words!
that's not fair, he deserves a run now England has picked him. I don't rate him, but it would be extremely unfair.

Mmmm Sky are showing Michael Slater's 1994 Gabba ton. Now that's what I call batting.

that close contested feel is no more

disagree, the game is still pretty close. the series so far has the feel of a close Ashes, just compare it to the 06/07 tour and you will see that we have progressed a lot since then. I think Australia will win this one though. certainly England have to bat amazingly to win or save the match.

Australia are probably going to declare with a lead around 200 and put England in for a bit towards the end. Cook will undoubtedly get out, but England can still save this Test. Application is all thats needed, perfect time for Collingwood to prove his worth and eat up deliveries. I don't think the Australian attack will come as hard after the new ball wears off.

Maybe bring Bell up the order since he's in good touch. Maybe.

And as for Finn, if he continues to go at 4 an over then in the latter stages theres no harm in trying out Tremlett.

One more good batting session from Australia and England might be out of this test.

For now - its favouring the Aussies, but a Siddle like spell could change things.

Perfect session for us. Whippy has nearly checked into the Sanitarium.

If we can push on here could be telling for the whole series.

if this fare continues until close, I will be very depressed. but for now, there is still a glimmer of hope.

I actually think the England bowling is probably good enough. but the first innings batting was a problem in the warm-up games, has been a problem on many occasions touring for England, and yet again it is starting to look inadequate.

Btw, has it been good batting or poor bowling?
Can someone sum up the session please, sorry can't be bothered with cricindo. :kapil

10 minutes.

Australia even dominated test 1 in 05 and 09. so, all is not lost. but yeah, a poor, poor couple of sessions.

Aus should aim for a lead of 200-250 (250 would be ideal before the end of Day 3 and put England in about 30-45 mins before close of play)

Good batting with a hint of luck. Anderson should have at least 1 more wicket to his name but poor use of referrals cost him that. Tough.

hostile spell of bowling in the first hour where England produced chances but nothing went their way after which Hussey & Haddin took control and put Australia in cruise control! :D

England bowled really well for an hour and were very unlucky not to get Hussey and Haddin, including a plumb LBW appeal v Hussey, but after the shine wore off the new ball, the Aussie pair settled in and quietly dominated the England attack.

England bowled their heart out.

Beat the bat on numerous occasions. Hit the pads quite a few times.

Although, the latter half of the session was just fantastic batting. The Aussies really milked the bowling. The England fielding started getting sluggish, as well.

England used up there URDS early, and bowled well in the early part of the session. Gradually the Aussies worked there way back into the session as the ball got older. England were unlucky to have used up there UDRS by missing a lbw.
Huss and Haddin both started middling the ball and hitting boundaries.
Jimmy has bowled with heart and skill and devoid of luck.

Its no fun when you are like this. Its better when you were cocky Whippy, be that Whippy again so we can laugh...otherwise, then who wants to laugh at a man already down? :(

Jimmy has really earned my respect in this match. I'm sure the Aussies now rate him a lot higher than they ever used to. Can't blame them, his career average v the enemy is still awful...

got no right to be cocky at the moment mate. believe me, if we are 200 ahead for no loss at close tomorrow, it will be back to pompous pom you all loved to hate. but for now, we are getting humbled and I have no issue with losing to a better team.

Ok, thanks. I take it Anderson was the pick of the lot then? How did The Swann bowl?

Good effort by Hussey and Haddin to go unbeaten, great partnership for Aus. Good batting wicket, should still try to add 100 more min.
I believe this makes it two centuries in consecutive Ashes tests for Hussey (he was the last wicket at the Oval). Guess its already been pointed out..

Yeah Anderson's done exceptionally well so far. Hopefully he can pick up the few more and end this year off well -- the Pakistan tour's gonna ensure his bowling average is par 30 this year at least!

Anderson has 42 wickets at 20 this year. such a massively improved bowler.

Too defensively

More often than not straight and fast with men deep on the leg side

Very uncharacteristic of Swann who is naturally a very attacking bowler

But England are good.

Australia just better in this test.

Hussey down the wicket yet again

Not letting Swann settle at all

England are a pretty decent team, but they think they are better than they are.

I'd back Pak to beat them in Pak conditions. Even our crappiest team in memory was able to win a test against Eng in Eng.

Lead is 70 now

A 150 run lead is now looking more than achievable and that I'm afraid will require something special for England to overcome

I think Eng would beat current Pak side in Pak, but Pak with AA's back would beat Eng in Pak.

we need centuries from 2 batsmen whatever happens now. definitely achievable if they just concentrate, which they often fail to do...

good stuff from Jimmy. absolutely relentless performance. but he may get overbowled

Swann looking way better after lunch. hopefully he doesn't blow it.

Haddin has arguably played just as well as Hussey.

Anderson bowling a good length but way too straight. Getting picked off by Haddin.

Anderson straying onto the pads too often in that over

Perhaps and probably. We're about one quality seamer+spinner and one quality batsmen away from being a really competitive side. Can't wait til we play England tbh, but I don't think thats for while?
