The complexity of getting married

I get locked in Ramadhan I am told.

And if you had a sister, she would be smarter than to go tell her.

Girls like it better when the person who likes her walks up to her and starts talking. Asking a friend or cousin, or in this case, a sister, turns some off. :/

Not every girl is the same, is it? and its very likely that my sister would be good friends with her.

What if your sister was way younger? My cousin is 29 and he has a 17 yo sis.

And we don't know what this girl's like. The possibility that she wouldn't like it is there.

My sister couldn't have been much younger because my Dad wasn't very young when I was born. :sohail

Her Dad is urdu/hindko speaking like my Mother. That means she isn't a Pathan right?

Her Dad is a wannabe Pathan and speaks Pashto at home so she is a Pashto speaker.

"Oh" is used to express a range of emotions including surprise, anger, disappointment, or joy, or when reacting to a remark.

This thread is going to bite the dust soon. :raja

I feel so lost without it. It was epic.

I'm proud of who I am too, but I still want to experience it. Maybe because I'd really like to speak Pushto.

Speaking Pashto is alright - I want to learn Pashto too.. but changing your heritage to wishing you were a pathan seems a little off ..

We can practice Pashto together :)

Okay, you first. Teach me a word in Pushto. I know nishta, I think it means "no".

Oh, so khocha means stupid... No wonder this Pathan kid at school is known as khocha.

We're not going to get far with this, you know.

Warkotay means small.

Meena means love.

Stargay means eyes.

Sahar means morning.

Shpay means night.

Uda sha means go to sleep.

Ukhra means eat.

Uska means drink.

Makawa means don't.

Rijay means rice.

Pai means milk.

:jf

Thanks bro! :)

What about the sentence structure? You, me, I? Is it the same as in Urdu?

Also - bachein. Pronounced like ba-chayein. I think I heard Afridi say it somewhere when talking to his kids in some interview. Does it mean kids?

Bachein in Pashto is bachay, but pronounced slightly differently than the bachay in Urdu.

Ma means me, zo means I.

Yeah, I figured as much. He said something like "Chamsha gana, bachein! Chamsha gana!"

I figured he's either saying "stop it, kids" or "be quiet, kids." or sth to that effect.

Pashto sentences are really complex. You can't construct a coherent one in most cases even if you know the individual words, but you won't need them for me. We will talk to each other in Urdu.

You might need it for Junaid though. :sohail

Uska = drink.
Maska = when you tell someone else not to drink.
Naskam = won't drink myself.

Can't be as bad as Japanese. There's no word for NO/NOT in Japanese. You have to change the entire sentence structure to reflect negative intent.

But you get a hang of that too, after awhile.. Its not so bad.

Not this year, but next year, when I take 4 months off in summer inshAllah, I plan to study and learn either Pashto or Farsi (plan to learn both eventually).

They say knowing more than one language helps incredibly in IR..

Or English.

Junaid knows Urdu but I don't think I'll be able to keep a straight face.

I will learn Pushto one day though.

No English. :moyo

If you learn Pashto, Junaid won't be able to keep a straight face.

It sounds so weird :)))

What if the girl's name is meena (it would be weird if its a boys name :moyo)?

'Meena, I meena you' :))

"How would we have got so closer if there was no meena between us?

Meena, our maid, who used to exchange our letters."

I generally feel romantic on weekends.

Anyways, you know, a philosophical explanation of what love is, a person´s description of this exalted emotion fascinates me so much.

I don´t think that Mamoon bhai has become a philosopher or anything yet. He is a simple guy with temporary crushes:msd.

How true!:))
