To put it in context, this isn’t seasonal weather, it’s a cyclone. These things are out of anyone’s control. Winning against a weaker team is yes something in your control.
 
I think they should just play. So what if the outfield is a bit wet in places. This is a world cup. It's important! Let's have some muddy cricket!
 
5 overs match only and the Indian left arm software engineer is not allowed to bowl.

Ideal scenario.

Make it happen ICC.
 
a 5 hour game is a joke to be honest. There should be minimum 10 overs played for the match to have any meaning

This. Pakistanis should be thanking BCCI :srini ICC (read BCCICC) are moving heaven and earth to help Pakistan.

If this was an inconsequential match, they would have called it off already.
 
ICC confirmed the latest a 5 over match can start is 2:16pm Florida time
 
Despite the best efforts from the groundsmen, there were a few stubborn patches on the outfield that have been the impediment to play today. Let's hope we have some positive news to share

have you played in such conditions, easy to twist ankle, injure knee if you foot gets stuck when running full throttle and/or diving, stopping, etc.
 
Just imagine if the match happens and the USA beats Ireland - it would be even more humiliating for Pakistan. It's better if the match is called off
 
With the weather forecast continually grim rest of the day, one way to settle it would be to just play a Super Over. As the match.
Or better, a best of 3. A bowl-out ( ala 2007) sandwiched between two super overs!

But that would be too much of a good time for Cricket.

And imagine if Ireland beats USA and then also beats Pakistan. The possibilities are endless. So lets just stick to the qudrat ka nizam.

I guess they will have to wait for entire regulation time before calling off the game?
 
Only guy who can convincingly intervene for USA here is Joe Biden. He can just tell the ICC not to mess around with their players just so they can have a cash cow like Pakistan going through

Very unlikely. Ireland has to make up NRR. In that case, USA will go through.
 
Shorten is the match the more favourite will be USA , their confidence is sky high after superover thriller

Ireland can still qualify for the next round right ? So Ireland just persist for a match to be played and don't get bullied by USA team. Ireland just insist we want to play a match..
 
Ireland, Canada and Pakistan must lodge a joint complaint against USA players if they aren't too keen to play , citing fake safety concerns.
 
Come on USA, please send a helicopter to dry the ground. Standard practice in a 3rd world country like Pakistan.

Because if this match is played and Ireland win, they can qualify for the next round by beating Pakistan.

If this match is rained off USA get 5 points and qualify for next round and all three teams Pakistan, Ireland , Canada exit..
 
It is in the interest of USA Cricket to have this match rained off while Pakistan, Canada, Ireland would want this match to happen.

Still plenty of time but we are for sure having a truncated game now. And hopefully the outfield would have improved by the next pitch inspection.

And hopefully doesn't rain any further.
 
There should be a reserve day for all World Cup matches and the cup should only be played in full association countries with multiple stadiums, unless there are sufficient grounds available in non associate countries to cope
