Oxy said:Just been hearing that Scott Parker is going for NON-FOOTBALL reasons - i.e obscene gestures to the fans when hes got a bit of flak of f them (from some guy called Jim Owen - didnt catch his name - ex NUFC player perhaps - on TalkSport)
Scott Parker has attempted to get out of a £7m move to West Ham United as he is reluctant to leave Newcastle United despite an increasingly difficult relationship with some of the club's fans.
But United's captain feels he is being pushed towards the exit door as new manager Sam Allardyce is desperate to sign controversial midfielder Joey Barton to replace him.
The Journal understands Parker has told Allardyce he wants to stay on Tyneside as club captain and prove his critics wrong next season. But that plea, while respected by Allardyce, has not persuaded Newcastle's manager that West Ham's offer should be turned down and the 26-year-old is expected to complete a move back to London this week.
"Scott wants to stay at Newcastle but he doesn't feel as though the club want to keep him," said a source close to the player. "He had a few problems with some sections of the club's supporters recently but he was keen to come back and prove them wrong next season rather than leave.

"He was not the only player frustrated by what happened last season and he wanted to put things right. He was the club captain and it hurt him to receive abuse from his own fans. However, Scott is not a quitter and he was excited by Sam Allardyce's arrival and what it meant for the team. But he feels the club are making it difficult for him to stay because they already have a replacement lined up."
That replacement is Barton, who should be a United player by the end of this week after informing his agent Willie McKay that St James's Park is his preferred destination when he leaves Manchester City.
Barton is one of the most controversial players in the Premiership following a series of misdemeanours on and off the pitch, but he is also one of the most effective central midfielders in the country. Allardyce is confident he can tame his wild side. Parker's sale for £500,000 more than the club paid for him two years ago will generally be welcomed by most supporters as a shrewd piece of business by Allardyce, although there will also be sadness from others at the former Chelsea player's departure.
Parker enjoyed a magnificent first season in the North-East under the manager who signed him, Graeme Souness, and his successor Glenn Roeder. But having been named as Alan Shearer's successor as skipper at the start of last season, Parker's form dipped in an injury-disrupted campaign, while the return to favour of Nicky Butt also caused some to question his right to an automatic place in the side.
That led to some unwarranted criticism of the England international which he, by his own admission, struggled to accept as he exchanged angry words with fans on more than one occasion last term.
The former Charlton prospect, though, was adamant he would not let the boo boys force him out of the club. Nevertheless, with Newcastle receptive to West Ham's sizeable offer, it looks as though he has played his last game for the club. Meanwhile, Newcastle's new owner-in-waiting Mike Ashley has reportedly contacted former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein to ask whether he would be interested in running Newcastle United if he succeeds in his takeover bid.

Also Barton currently undergoing a medical today...so looks like he will be signed for 5.5

Though I think Viduka is a excellent signing but I fear his signing may be a possible hint for an exit by Owen.

Billionaire Ashley confirms Newcastle United bid
Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd's fate could be decided in a review of the club after billionaire Mike Ashley took a major step towards assuming control.
St James Holdings Limited (SJHL), the company set up by Ashley to acquire shares in the club, this evening confirmed that the formal offer document has now been sent out to club's shareholders, who now have 60 days to consider it.
SJHL announced to the Stock Exchange earlier today that it had agreed to pay the Shepherd family in excess of £37m (€54.46) at 101p per share for their stake.
That investment, on top the 41.6% holding they snapped up by striking a £55m (€81m) deal with Sir John Hall and his family on May 23, has given Ashley control of almost 70% of the company.
The same offer has now been extended to the remaining shareholders, with the current regime recommending acceptance.
Should Ashley acquire 75% - and that now seems inevitable - he would assume control, while a 90% acceptance would give him the opportunity to complete a £134.4m (€197.8m) takeover, delist the club and take it back into private ownership.
However, the SJHL statement failed to shed any light on Shepherd's position amid speculation he could continue as a salaried employee of the new regime.
PA Sport understands Ashley will conduct a review once he has gained control and decide how best to move the business forward, and that the current hierarchy will remain in place for the time being.
The Sports Direct International founder is notorious for his avoidance of the limelight and it seems unlikely he would be prepared to take a public role at St James' Park.
He is certain to install his own men at Gallowgate, but Shepherd's experience in the world of football and his long association with the Magpies are resources which could yet prove useful.
Insiders have been hinting at the current chairman's continued presence in recent days and, although there has been no confirmation from either camp, that remains a possibility.
However, his financial involvement will come to an end when Ashley buys up the shareholding Shepherd has added to regularly in recent years.
After 10 years in the hotseat and having resisted two earlier approaches, the sitting chairman decided this one was right for the club he has supported since his childhood.
He said: "As chairman of Newcastle United, I have always tried to act in the very best interests of this great football club, and stressed that should the right person emerge to lead the club forward into the future then I would support them fully.
"I believe Mike Ashley and SJHL, along with new manager Sam Allardyce, can deliver a vibrant new era at Newcastle United and I sincerely hope that together we can all enjoy successful times.
"It was always very important to me that this whole matter was handled amicably and swiftly for the sake of everyone connected with the football club."
Shepherd insisted earlier this year the club was impossible to buy, but has always maintained he would not stand in the way of a "Geordie Abramovich".
Ashley's reputed £1.9bn (€2.8bn) personal fortune makes him Britain's 25th richest man, although just how that translates into investment into playing staff remains to be seen.
In the meantime, Shepherd faces the task of persuading both his potential employer and his critics he has a continuing role to play.
Mark Jensen, editor of fanzine 'The Mag', believes some supporters will want a fresh start, but acknowledges the need for continuity.
He said: "Most fans will be relieved that things seem to be getting sorted out quickly.
"We have got a new manager and the takeover seems to be pretty much a done deal.
"The only negative thing is maybe Freddy Shepherd is going to be chairman for a bit longer.
"The new regime is going to have to get a feel for things and there will be a need for a bit of continuity at first.
"We cannot expect things to change in a day. There has to be some kind of passing on from one regime to another.
"But many fans feel the Shepherds and the Halls have presided over a decade of failure at the club while at the same time making a lot of money out of their association with it."

Bellamy link to Newcastle 'drove me to drink', says Shearer
Alan Shearer, the former England and Newcastle United forward, may no longer enjoy a position of influence within St James' Park but the club's record goalscorer is well aware that his words still carry significant weight on Tyneside.
Just 24 hours after assuaging fears that the Magpies will be missing Michael Owen when the Premiership kicks off, the normally reserved Shearer yesterday launched an unprecedented attack on former team-mate Craig Bellamy, currently at Liverpool.
"Has no one learnt their lesson about signing him?" asked Shearer, in response to renewed speculation that Bellamy could revive his career at the club which showed him the door in January 2005, following a public row with then manager Graeme Souness.
"If only [Liverpool manager] Rafa Benitez had rung me I would have told him exactly what he was like. I hope there isn't anything in [him joining Newcastle].
"I was having a few days away in France with [Bolton Wanderers' midfielder] Gary Speed and [Newcastle United goalkeeper] Steve Harper and the wives and I picked up a newspaper. I was having a fantastic day.
"But when I read 'Bellamy for Newcastle' I thought I would definitely have to have another drink. I had several."

Shearer starts Tyne-Wear war
ALAN SHEARER last night kicked off Newcastle’s new Premier League battle with Sunderland — by asking Roy Keane to pay EIGHT TIMES too much for his house!
In an explosive rant which lifts the lid on the astonishing bust-ups that shaped his career, Shearer wasted no time in having a sly dig at former sparring partner Keane.
With the Mackems back in the top flight under the inspirational Irishman, big things are expected of Sunderland next term.
But St James’ Park legend Shearer has already landed the first blow by trying to stitch up Keano.
He said: “I put one of my houses up for sale for £750,000. He came to look at it and it went up to £6million when I found out it was him.”
Toon hero Shearer added: “I don’t know him personally but I have got a tremendous amount of respect for him as a player on the football pitch.
“He was one of those players where if we had 11 Roy Keanes on the pitch in our team, we would have gone on to be very successful.
“But I never spent any time with him one on one.”
