Nothing to worry about, if you didn't learn anything in class just make sure you read a revision book (you don't have to note it) shouldn't take you more than an hour and half an hour before the exam start past papers.

I didn't take Urdu B because my dad wanted me to be good at Urdu, which I now am, Alhumdulillah. :)

Yes, but Urdu B would have helped you develop a more practical version of Urdu - Urdu A is more flowery/poetic.

But then again, since you've learned it from scratch and recently, t'was prolly a good decision :)

It's not like I can't communicate in Urdu, I'm almost as good as you guys. I don't get the slang and all though. :/

Hmmm, I would surely blush if I talk to her directly. Hopefully she will pull my red cheeks or kiss them. :22:

:malik

Which other artists/bands do you like?

I have a very.... unconventional taste in music.

I adore Michael Jackson. Everything by him was a class above anything available now.. in fact, I think a few of his best songs were never as popular as others. 80s/90s music is my most favourite (esp. classic Pakistani music - Junoon, Vital Signs)
Used to love Evanescence. Like a junooni.
Not into boy bands that much, but Backstreet Boys were good back in their time.

These days, I'll just listen to whatever's on the radio/billboard - not too vested in music these days.

You?

I can speak urdu and english fluently. I just don't know Panjabi, nor do I know how to read urdu.

I wish everyone uploaded atleast one real-life pic of theirs and pp makes a smiley of them.
Poster's smileys! How cool would that be :srt

I didn't imply you were anything like that :)) I just meant that Urdu B even gave a native Urdu speaker more know-how of practical Urdu than not :)

Why do they teach urdu in a nation where they speak urdu?

Why not? Why should a beautiful language like Urdu be allowed to die?

Thriller, thriller, thriller, thriller......

MJ is one of my faves too.

I love Mesut Kurtis' Burda.

No YouTube.

Does this have something to do with The Rock?
Ahh come on man its the actual video of it man the actual video of it :| looooooooool

And for those discussing languages, I can speak Urdu, Punjabi and English. My English is fluent, my urdu and punjabi are just kitchen urdu/punjabi and I can't read or write it either.

I don't listen to music as I used to anymore. I only listen to anime soundtracks now a days. Or japanese anime openings.

I absolutely hate when expatriate Pakistanis don't teach their kids urdu/their local language.

My Brit cousins can't speak Pashto or Urdu. How ridiculous. Its good to see the number of Brit Pakistanis on this forum who can speak Urdu well.

Hmmm, I can tolerate anything but rap, MJ and boy-bands.

Listen to Give Into Me by him, and you'll agree with me.

Infact, it quite fits your situation :))

He has sooo many better songs! But Thriller is :hamster:

Have you listened to Sami Yusuf? He's also very, very good!

Actual video of "It doesn't matter what you think", right?

I knew that was coming. :))

My cousins can speak Urdu, and so can I. :D

I think most of the time, kids aren't willing to learn.

I was taught urdu before english. Which in the end made it hard for me to communicate with people in school. But over time I got better at english. As I got better in english I got worser at urdu since I didn't speak it much. Thanks to going to Pakistan more then 15 times in my life. My urdu got better and in the end I eventually got fluent in both urdu and english.

Some wear their inability to speak Urdu as a badge of honour. "Maadran, faaran ex-Pakistanis." Psuedo-intellectualism at its finest.

That's the worst

My parents made sure I knew it cos they knew I was gonna learn English in School. Please don't fall for me cos I know urdu and make a complexity of marriage thread about me where the main issue is our distance :19:

Lool Had to be man. If you ever watched WWE you'd understand man...the rocks a legend.

Its good, but I don't like him anyway.

How can I adore a man (or a living being) as creepy as him?

I read his autobiography. Changed my entire view on the man.

He's the perfect example of what the media can do to one.

Well they will be if you speak to them in Urdu or your local language from the beginning. Many people have pulled it off so I don't buy this willingness excuse.

I remember a dude who made a similar thread over girl issues, Some years ago here. That dude became a instant hit after that thread. I think his name was Ryan Khan. Boy those were some fun times.

What in the hell happened to Bollywood songs, btw?

Apart from a handful of songs, I think the quality of their songs has plummetted in recent years.

This, after hearing Muqala Muqabala on my ipod after a long while.

Nearly everyone of bollywood songs is a love song. That's what I really hate about there music. They don't have a diverse genre like Americans do. There movies have gone down hill as well.

^ Well that's understandable (its what sells in the subcontinent) - but why do they have to be so BAD

Birdie who?

blindingLight can I ask for another piece of advice from you plz?

I got 4 exams next week (2 relatively easy, 1 hard) + Economics Unit 2. Economics is a resit (I didn't revise the first time around  ). There's quite abit that I've forgotten of that Unit, the exams next Wednesday, so when do you think I should start revising for it and when should I start attempting past papers?
