The last fight in the prelims - MIKE PERRY vs GEOFF NEAL at Welterweight.

Man, I still remember the last time Mike Perry fought - his whole nose was had to be re-arranged in a hospital - one of the worst looking injuries in the year 2019.
 
Oh man, Mike Perry gets demolished in the very 1st round. I do not think anybody's been able to do that to Mike Perry. Combination of high leg kicks and strikes finishes Mike Perry.
 
Now, moving on to the MAIN CARD.

1st fight is PETR YAN v URIJAH FABER.

Faber has made a comeback at age 40, amazing.
 
That was painful to watch how Faber went out. Sometimes fighters are too tough for their own good.

Petr Yan though - is a legitimate contender for the Bantamweight title. He called Henry Cejudo triple clown lol.
 
Wow, its a pretty close fight. Interesting to see who wins the fight. If it was up to me - I will have Aldo win by a very slim margin. But this could go either way.
 
Its a very close split decision to Marlon. Don't think its a huge controversy. Both showcased a very great fight.
 
Now for the big 3 title fights.

First up - GDR vs NUNES for the Bantamweight title.

NUNES - man what a superb fighter she is - truly the goat.
 
Oh my goodness, what a round for Nunes. GDR survives. That is unbelievable. I thought Nunes was gonna finish GDR right there with that arm triangle.
 
If only GDR had some decent grappling skills. Nunes is completely dominating GDR on the ground except for that massive upkick from the ground by GDR which shook Nunes.
 
Amanda is tired but is on top of GDR so she can rest now.

I think Amanda is scared of a fight on the feet as GDR is very capable of dishing out as good as she gets.
 
Okay, GDR has to get a knockout now. Otherwise Nunes is winning this with another masterful, tactical performance.
 
That was nice of Nunes to invite Dan Lambert - the top dog of the American Top Team - perhaps the most successful gym in the USA.
 
Not really a UFC fan, far too much rolling on the ground, i prefer wwe scripted, not real violence fun!
But i do watch the occassional big boxing match, (i boxed abit when i was a kid, just in a boxing club) .And at this moment in time i think deontay wilder is the baddest man on the planet!

So my question to you UFC fans, have you got anyone who could beat my man in your octagon?
I doubt there is a man alive today, that could beat wilder in a freestyle fight.

Depends, are you talking a boxing match or mma fight?

In a boxing match, there is no ufc fighter that would stand a chance against wilder.

However if we are talking a mma fight, deontay wilder would stand no chance against jon Jones, DC, etc...

Deontay would have no answer to grappling, wrestling, kicks, etc.... these are things you have to train for years.

Na, i dont think so.
DC is a short grappler and he wont get close to wilder, wilder only needs one clear shot to knock a man out .
The only chance any ufc fighter has is to use kicks, kcks to wilders sknny legs and destabilse him , so he has no base to throw those haymakers. But all wilder has to do is charge forward and throw those haymakers, if one lands, the ufc guy is going to be knocked spark out!

My prediction, all ufc fighters will be too scare to try and attack wilder and he should win unless someone knocks him out with a kick or hurts his legs.
Interesting.

Mayweathers going to fight in the ufc, should be interesting, he should get whoopped, unless they find him a nobody.

UFC 245: Kamaru Usman stops Colby Covington in final round of thriller

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman produced a dramatic late stoppage to defeat trash-talking challenger Colby Covington in the final minute of their main-event bout at UFC 245 in Las Vegas.

After a breathless encounter, Usman finally broke down Covington in the last round, dropping him twice with two huge punches before forcing referee Marc Goddard to call off the contest as he unloaded a barrage of ground strikes.

The build-up to the bout was an ill-tempered one, with Covington goading and insulting Usman over the course of the past year. And while the pair scuffled in the Palms Casino in Las Vegas back in March, Usman maintained a composed exterior throughout fight week.

The Nigerian, 32, battled toe-to-toe with his American rival through four hugely entertaining rounds at the T-Mobile Arena, breaking Covington's jaw with a huge punch in the third round.

Despite that, Covington continued to trade with the champion as the bout approached a thrilling climax that saw Usman claim a TKO victory with just 50 seconds remaining.

"I wasn't worried about hitting him in specific spots, I just wanted to hit him over and over wherever I could," said Usman.

"He talked a lot going into this, so this was a respect thing. I had a responsibility to go in there and teach him a lesson."

There was a title change in the co-main event, as Australian former rugby league player Alexander Volkanovski produced a superb performance to dethrone long-reigning UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway.

Volkanovski, 31, pushed a relentless pace on Holloway, chopping at the Hawaiian's legs with punishing kicks while threatening with powerful hooks from close range.

Despite Holloway's reputation as one of the best-conditioned athletes in the division, Volkanovski's work rate proved decisive as he outpaced and outstruck the world champion en route to a unanimous decision victory, with two judges scoring it 48-47 and the third 50-45.

Volkanovski said: "It means the world. I'm away from my family, I have two kids at home. Everything is about my family, spending time away from the kills me, but this is for them, a little early Christmas present for them."

Volkanovski promised to be a fighting champion for the UFC and vowed to face all comers in the months ahead.

"Featherweight has always had great, respectful champions who always fight the next contenders in line and I appreciate that," he said.

"There's a lot of people who have earned their shot and aren't given it, so I'm going to make sure everyone who earns it, gets it. If the UFC really wants money fights, I'll do it, I won't lie, but I want to give it to the person who deserves them and then take them out."

The third world title fight of the evening saw two-weight UFC women's champion Amanda Nunes hold on to her bantamweight title, the Brazilian forced to go all five rounds by a dogged display from Dutch kickboxing star Germaine de Randamie.

De Randamie looked dangerous on her feet, but Nunes' ability to drag the fight to the canvas almost at will proved decisive as she ran out a 49-44, 49-46, 49-45 winner on the judges' scorecards.

"Honestly, I was a little bit off tonight, but I'm the champ," said Nunes. "I always have Plan A, B, C and more. If something goes wrong with the first plan, I just go to the next one.

"Germaine's timing was very good tonight, but she's so heavy with everything she throws, so it was easy for me to time the takedown. This is exactly what we trained for, so I'm happy."

Great fight. Feels sorry for Toby, he fought with so much heart and it was a close fight until he was taken out.

Amanda Nunes v Germainede Randamie was the best fight of the night imo. An incredible performance by Randaime against the GOAT womens MMA fighter. Would like to see a re-match here.

Tbh I was hoping Nunes would permanetly concuss Randamie, don't want her to get title shot gain or ever compete in the UFC after how she robbed Holly Holms of history, and lets be honest she only got a shot here because Dana and Cyborg had a big domestic, I still think that's the biggest fight in the division - however it could be dead in the water, not sure but Cyborg may have jumped ship to Bellator

I havent see the fight with Holly Holms but will check it out now. Nunes is a beast, brutal and very smart. I dont think anyone can come close to beating her but did enjoy the fight.

Predictions for McGregor v Cowboy?

Definitely watch that fight, Holly should have been the first in history to be a 2 weight world champion among the women.

I think Conor should brutally stop him tbh even though he is one hell of a finisher, this is the type of fight he needed upon his comeback instead getting straight in there with Khabib. And if he doesn't get the W he should retire.

For me the main event - Colby Vs Usman was the fight of the night. While GDR v Nunes went the distance - it still was a dominant performance by Nunes - who was very smart in quickly realizing that on feet GDR was proving to be more than a match for her so she basically employed her grappling skills and completely dominated GDR.

Colby vs Usman was one for the ages. As I was watching it I could not believe that not either of them had attempted one single takedown - which is incredible because both of them are actually distinguished wrestlers. 1 judge had it 2-2 going into the 5th round, 1 judge had it 3-1 to Colby and the other had it 3-1 to Usman. The fact that Colby broke his jaw in the 3rd round and still continued to fight is a testament to his large fighting heart.

On a side note - I appreciate fans like you who can dispassionately comment on the actual fighting skills of the fighters instead of coloring your judgment by fighters' off field antics. Example Colby says some truly horrendous things but he is simply playing the role of a heel and the whole idea is to sell the fight.

It was overall a great night for UFC fans.

You are underestimating grappling / wrestling in MMA.

There is a reason why fighters with a grappling / wrestling background have dominated the sport. Guys like GSP, Khabib, DC, etc...

A high level wrestling / grappler will win against a striker in most cases.

Yes you are right, Wilder may only need one shot to knock someone out.

At the same time, DC only needs to get one take down.

It will take one take down, DC would hold wilder there and maul him. Wilder has great cardio, however, wrestling uses a different type of strength. Someone who has not wrestled before will be overwhelmed and will get tired out a lot faster than what he is used to (straight boxing).

The following round, Wilder will have taken damage like never before and will be tired like never before. He will still be a threat but not as much.

DC just needs to rinse and repeat.

Wilder will keep looking for that lucky shot to put DC's lights out. Unless he gets it within the first 2 rounds, DC will just wear on him.

That is one strategy.

Now if you include the threat of submissions, if DC can get Wilder down within the first minute of the first round, Deontay will be submitted within no time.

Submissions and defence against submissions is a whole type of training in itself and Wilder would need years to be even remotely competent in this to stand any chance.

Totally disagree on the damage like never before part, historically and factually MMA is a million times more safer then Boxing; I highly doubt Wilder will take a beating as severe as the one Ortiz gave him, taking successive punches in the head is no joke and this is why Conor quit against a past his prime Boxer with broken hands. Am not suggesting that Wilder would ever win against a high level wrestler but I completely disagree on the damage part, he would get choked out or something no big deal; he wont leave with a concussion or brain injury.
 
However, if Wilder somehow by a miracle landed a blow with those UFC gloves on DC I legit think he would die

The thing is high level wrestlers would be able to tie up inexperienced people in such positions where the person cant even defend themselves.

Ground and pounding a defenseless wilder, and throw elbows into the mix, how do you figure deontay wont take enormous amounts of damage?

The point you made was taking damage like never before which is simply impossible, taking "enormous amounts" in the Octagon will be a walk in the park compared to what he is already use to, Boxers are also much better conditioned to absorb punishment, ground/pound will cut you up but your chances off suffering a serious brain injury is unlikely compared to repeated blows to the head over a prolonged period and the ref's in MMA are more friendly when it comes to stepping in regardless.
 
So, the first PPV event of the year is a Conor McGregor fight. The one and only reason anyone will buy this PPV is because of him. Otherwise its a tame card and even including Conor - its almost this is designed to be a tune up fight for him - for bigger battles ahead.

Now it would be fun it Conor actually loses this fight lol. That will throw a spanner in UFC's plans.

Tbh Conor should have taken a tune up before Khabib as well, this time has learned to be smarter the hard way even though he does have a massive ego. Btw Dana apparently will be working with Floyd again in 2020 :yk3

The King is back. Good news for the business of UFC and his fans.

Conor absolutely destroys Cerrone in just 40 seconds in the very 1st round. It began with an uppercut followed by a high kick and then a leaping knee and then a barrage of punches and just like that it is all over.

Good on Conor to also quickly go over to Cerrone to check on him and console him.

A well behaved Conor to me I suspect is more dangerous and focused. Prior to this fight Conor had a lot of respect for Cerrone and I felt he was in a very good mental space.

Looking forward to see how he builds on this win. Perhaps he could catch a second wind.

Conor McGregor returned to the octagon in style at UFC 246 as he beat American fan favourite Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone in just 40 seconds in Las Vegas.

Irishman McGregor, 31, came out on top after one of the most spectacular performances of his career.

Two of UFC's most popular fighters went toe to toe in the main event at the T-Mobile Arena.

But referee Herb Dean stepped in and waved off the contest inside a minute after a series of blows from McGregor.

"I made history tonight. I set a new record. I'm the first fighter in UFC history to secure knockout victories at featherweight, at lightweight and now at welterweight - across three weight divisions, so I'm very proud of that," said McGregor.

He had not won inside the UFC's octagon since capturing his second UFC world title in November 2016, and was submitted in four rounds by undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October 2018.

Is McGregor still relevant?
McGregor had said earlier in the week that he would look to "acquire rounds" against the American, but he showed no such patience as he came storming out of his corner and threw a huge left hand right from the very start that signalled his intent to claim a fast finish.

The Dubliner then connected with a series of shoulders to the face from the clinch before following his man across the cage and connecting with a huge head kick that badly rocked Cerrone.

A series of heavy left hands followed as Cerrone crumbled to the canvas, where he received a further barrage of strikes that sealed victory.

"The amount of records that man has, but one of the records he holds [is] the most head-kick knockouts. I'm so happy to be able to get him down with a head kick myself. So I'm very happy and proud tonight," said McGregor.

"The UFC, they can strip fighters and give to other fighters make-believe belts in order to replicate my champ-champ status. But they can't give knockout victories across multiple weight divisions, so there you go again. Etch my name in history one more time.

"I like this weight division. I feel really good. God willing, I came out of here unscathed, I'm in shape. I don't believe I'm there yet, though. I've still got work to do to get back to where I was."

McGregor surged to MMA superstardom when he signed for the UFC as a two-division Cage Warriors champion, then replicated the feat by capturing the UFC titles at featherweight and lightweight as he became the first man to simultaneously hold UFC titles in two weight classes.

But those titles were subsequently stripped by the UFC after he failed to defend his belts and, after sharing wins with Nate Diaz in a pair of epic encounters in 2016, the Irishman pursued - and secured - a multi-million-dollar boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

His return to the UFC saw him unsuccessfully challenge for the UFC lightweight title against Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in an encounter full of bad blood and divisive rhetoric.

But he vowed to return, and he has kicked off what he described as his "2020 season" in spectacular fashion to set up a plethora of big-fight options later in the year.

A shot at the UFC welterweight title, held by Kamaru Usman, or a bout with the UFC's "BMF" champion Jorge Masvidal would allow McGregor to continue at his new weight class of 170 pounds, while he has made no secret of his desire to face Nurmagomedov in a rematch for the lightweight belt.

There may be options outside of MMA, too, with a rematch with Mayweather a possibility, while Manny Pacquiao is reportedly also interested in a bout with the Dubliner, who is sure to command a huge TV audience and payday.

This was a build up fight for Connor.

They gave him a past his prime Cowboy who just got destroyed in his past two fights (one fight 3 months ago, and the other 3 months before that).

Looks like it worked, Connor ******* are gassed. So now a fight with Masvidal, or a Nate trilogy will be huge.

Realistically though I think he should go back down to LW and fight Gaethje.

Masvidal and Kumaru look way too big for McGregor.
 
Certainly was not a fix. Cowboy had his nose broken, and orbital I think. People are sleeping on Conor because he got dominated by Khabib, but he has always been a world-class striker. Probably the best boxer in the UFC after Masvidal and Yan (MMA boxing of course).

I agree with you. Conor is an outstanding fighter - the first ever UFC fighter to win 2 weight titles simultaneously - and it is his behaviour outside the Octagon that sometimes tend to overshadow his skills inside the Octagon.

Conor himself and his coach both indicated that he likes being at WW - because he can eat healthy and not go into the rigmarole of weight cutting.

But who knows - Conor will fight where ever the big money will lead him to. I am not too big on Nate trilogy but that is what could attract a lot of eyeballs.

Masvidal v Conor will bring the roof down.
 
although McGregor had a good comeback against cowboy there is no way he can hang with the top guys at WW. I think if he fights Gaethje or Masvidal that's gonna be a tough ask forget about usman.

there is no way UFC will allow this both guys are making them so much money so they will milk them as far as they can. it's all about the money.
 
Cowboy is an absolute legend and I love the guy but he should retire getting knocked like that and the beating he got from Tony, he is putting his health on the line right know someone should talk to him and tell him to stop gonna end up with some crazy damage to his head
 
I am interested in khabib vs tony, people are putting tony down but those cuts he give people are crazy scary, would be interesting if he wins the fight, Conor will have to fight khabib and Tony and both of them are beasts. Trilagy with Nate and Conor would be cool but for that Nate will have to come back and fight at least 1 or 2 ufc matches so he is prepared. We have some juicy fights at our hands folks!
 
Watching UFC 248 live - headline event JON JONES vs DOMINIC REYES. Really looking forward to this. Reyes is so far undefeated in his career.

Jon Jones the legend will be the favorite but who does not like upsets.

Co-main event is Shevchenko vs Chookagian.
