Great card, Rollins/Ambrose has to be a given. If Styles is not facing Brock, I hope he gets to take on Taker in his final match. I know, Mizz previous face run didn't go so well, he has clout with hardcore fans to now who see the hard work he puts in and will make small tweaks to make his current persona work as a face, more experienced to and it could work, it's a crazy world but who'd have thought the two can potentially face in opposite roles!

Yes Taker/AJ is also another great match and it would be a perfect way to end the legendary career of The Undertaker, who is easily my favorite Pro Wrestler and many other's favorite Pro Wrestler of all time.

NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2 Discussion!

NXT Women's Championship: Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Kairi this match is going on right now just tuned in to the the last bit of the match and it looked like a great match! Baszler just escapes with the title

I was born here in Canada, go to Pakistan to visit every 2 years or so though. Yeah the time is great if you live here in Alberta, 3 hour PPV's start at 6 and at 9 same thing with raw as well.

The Saudi Events aren't great for me as I they role out during the day at 11 am iirc.

Lucky you, starts over here are usually 1am - 4.30am , NXT shows are much better, start at 12am and are done by 2.30am, today though I went to sleep after Ciampa v Dream which was a fantastic match outside some no selling by Ciampa towards the end, Dream is heads and shoulders above the NXT roster currently, his in ring IQ is beyond his years and he can grasp how to control the pace of a match and control the audience in the palm of his hand, less is more with him and you rarely see over kill from his performances which are always so pristine, for me he is ready to move up but the kid is just 23 years so there is no rush, but I'd like to see him move up next year. All the other matches were fine sort of like a WWE2K simulation lol, but Ciampa and Dream stole the show for me.

It was a 10 minute shoot out, was having stream quality issues but these two did really well with the time they had.

Same here, the WarGames match could have been much better wasn’t nearly as good as last year but for me I loved Ciampa vs Dream and Gargano vs Black. Ideally would have wanted Dream to pick up the win.

Wow, Seth vs Shin was epic once it got going! Even the women's elimination match was better than expected let's hope that AOP vs The Bar continues the good trend!

Not impressed with the tag team match and the Men's elimination match, like what was up with Drake Maverick peeing his pants? Also have not liked the idea of Raw just decimating SD so far in every match, I've always been a Smackdown fan, so I was really hoping Smackdown could get a win this year. Hopefully the rest of the show is better, with Ronda vs Charlotte and Bryan vs Lesnar to come, seems like it will be a clean sweep for Raw. Vince trying to show the world how much more important Raw is than SD to him I guess :))

Some people won't like this but I loved this ending to the match, I didn't want either one of them to lose, and to be honest Heel Charlotte is so much better than Face Charlotte. Needed something to look forward to after Becky's injury and this was just it! That attack by Charlotte was just BRUTAL!!! Amazing, Charlotte was getting just a little bit bland with this face run, she needed this HEEL TURN!!!

Amazing, and somebody in the crowd just said "go to the octagon" :)))

I wonder what this leads to between Charlotte and Ronda, there must be a rematch down the line, there has to be.

Why is the crowd chanting "You deserve it" and booing Ronda, I get the Becky chants of course but what's with the hate for Ronda?

Somebody in the crowd upon Brock's mauling of Bryan "Brock just stop, just stop be merciful Brock, end it, let him die" :))) :))) This crowd is to much! :)))

Meh it was a decent match, but I still firmly believe Styles vs Lesnar II would have been much better.

So overall my favorite match from SS was EASILY Charlotte vs Ronda, the finish alone was enough for me to enjoy that match. Excellent match easily Ronda's best match in WWE. Charlotte is just too good as a heel!

Looking forward to AJ's 365 now! Good thing this PPV ended at 8:35!

Vince told AJ that they had guys who could do what AJ could do? Where? :))) I hope he was only talking about Aerial Offense

Brock just told that fan who's telling Brock to end it to shut up :)))

Those fans are genuinely suffer from mental retardation, let him die you know; that really riled Brock up and then he wet his pants after that stern reply. American fans are just too spoiled and try to be a part of the show rather then enjoy it, they think it's cool booing Ronda to. And people keep booing baby faces that now they just turn everyone a heel, and people still whinge; and when the turn does happen they cheer the heel. But regardless a good move for Charlotte, Rousey took some serious bumps in that match and was pretty banged, may have lost a tooth to and busted up her ear, yet fans cheer for that; they are a bunch of morons.

Getting back to the PPV, I watched everything apart from the tag match and womens elimination and they were all brilliant. One of the best PPV's of the year by far. I didn't want RAW to go over but when Drew beat Joe in seconds I just knew they had no chance lol they are going all out giving him a monster push, but there was a great deal of drama in the match and I enjoyed it so much. Rollins and Nak put on a clinic, Murphy and Ali had an incredible cruserweight match, high flying action at its best; there are moments when I look at Ali and am reminded of a young AJ when it comes to the stuff he can do in the ring. Brock Lesnar and Bryan stole the show, my favourite match of the year; it had it all really, in-ring psychology, selling, aerial attacks, ground work, submission wrestling, brawling; my god it was a masterpiece and I just pity all the people who forced themselves not to enjoy that or come up with silly stereotypes about Bryan, it's no coincidence that since his second run (outside a few matches with Taker) Brock has had his best matches with CM Punk, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan; the golden generation of independent talent and all time greats, they just operate on another level altogether.

Outside Brock / Taker, Bryan could also be the perfect wrestle-mania opponent for AJ Styles who is the no.1 baby face in the company right, it's rare to even be a genuine face in this era these days! If Reigns is unable to return at the RR, surely Styles will win the match. Charlotte and Ronda are defo going to be feuding, I suspect Ronda will take a well deserved break after that. I hear rumours that she signed a 1 year deal, maybe that would explain how WWE have used her so far; fast tracking her at the top level and her speed of progress has been unreal to, when she is gone fans will never know what they had, bunch of idiots

Brock rarely shows you respect in the ring it has to be earned and he wasn't selfish towards Daniel Bryan tonight, that is admiration for his elite pedigree in the ring; if Brock wanted his way it could have been a squash but he put on a classic for the fans, contrary to popular belief he loves this business and has more respect for it then those guys who turn into a circus, he sells even behind the curtains; you don't get more old school then that, idiots chanting 'same ol sh!t' are a great reflection of modern fans with low IQ's they simply can't grasp intricate story telling in the ring, they rather watch Kenny do his 5 moonsaults of doom, absolute zero patience but that slow burn at the start was essential and built towards the amazing finishing stretch.

Ronda / Charlotte rematch will be even better, I really enjoyed their match; styles didn't mesh too well but it's understandable, however despite that it was a highly entertaining slug fest. SD will likely go over next year hopefully, they were clean swept but it will build towards the angle next year; plus they were without their best guns in Styles / Bryan, Joe got taken out early to so it made sense. SD team was just not strong enough and no writer could have justified Shane and Mizz overcoming Braun / Drew / Ziggler lol those three just have too much momentum and are on a roll

Yeah it was quite obvious Raw was going over after Joe got eliminated. Joe was really the only man om the SD side who could believably have eliminated Strowman, so once he got eliminated it was quite clear who was going over. A disappointment really, I wanted Braun and Joe to be the two last survivors.

Survivor series was just average in my opinion. Raw with a clean sweep what's up with that. Also, whilst DB vs lesnar started off interesting, he got destroyed after, which whilst expected was odd just after his heel turn winning the title. The 5 on 5 mens was ridiculous too, 3 of raws team remaining.. had much higher expectations than that, it needed one remaining Smackdown person to take out all 3 of raw that would have been good (probs joe). Rondas match was probably match of the night.

Raw was average too, apart from Dean Ambrose. I imagine the royal rumble will be the next ppv with the potential to be good. There's not been a great royal rumble in a long time, but it's one of my fav ppv of the year, with the royal rumble match.

It makes me hate on Drew legit giving him the heat lol but boy have they done such a good job with his presentation as a star.

Going back to the epic between Bryan / Brock, I was comparing it to AJ / Brock , both matches are my favourite of 2017 and 2018, I will say Bryan / Brock nudges ahead given how fluid it was and that comes from Bryan's technical expertise. One of the reasons why I wanted to see AJ / Brock again was because I knew it would be even better, however there were a number of botched spots in the first; it can happen when you have two guys working for the first time.

Not sure if Braun is legit injured was reading something about it online, but Ronda / Charlotte looks to be booked for the Rumble; will be epic, hopefully on the same event, Becky is able to return and win the Rumble. I mean she doesn't need to being a champion already but it would elevate her even further.

Styles also understandably has been working with the E to negotiate a new contract which has him work a reduced schedule, he was adamant to drop the WWE Championship and with Bryan around his decision must have been even easier.

Yes heard that too, and Styles definitely deserves a lighter schedule, hell I'd be fine with him not working live-events at all as long as he shows up on SmackDown and PPV's I mean hell he's deserved it more than anyone else in these past 3 years.

Don't think Braun is legitimately injured I think it is just apart of story-line to play up the idea of him not being able to make it TLC.

Are you talking about Royal Rumble Matches or the PPV itself? Because, the 2018 Men's Royal Rumble Match was one of the best ever.

As for the whole PPV the 2016 Royal Rumble PPV was great in the Top 7/8 Royal Rumble PPV's for me. Sure the end wasn't the best but the PPV itself was great. I mean the debut of AJ Styles alone was enough for me to enjoy this PPV. Not just that moment but the PPV itself was strong have a look at the card

Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship: Dean Ambrose (c) def. Kevin Owens
WWE Tag Team Championship Match: The New Day (c) def. The Usos
WWE United States Championship Match: Kalisto def. Alberto Del Rio (c)
WWE Divas Championship Match: Charlotte (c) def. Becky Lynch
Triple H wins 30-Man Royal Rumble Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Ambrose vs Owens stole the show, as was the New Day vs The Uso's was a great match as it always is. Becky vs Charlotte didn't have their best outing but it was still a entertaining match, seeing Becky in the spotlight for the first time it was just great. The only bad match on the PPV for me was the United States Title match but that's fine as every PPV that long needs that bathroom break match I guess. The rumble itself was fantastic, a lot of people don't like Triple H, and that's fine if we can put the finish to the side you can realize what a fantastic Rumble match this was. (I still think HHH winning the title worked and made the program with Reigns that much more dramatic) The story of Roman trying to overcome all the odds to retain his title, the Sami/Kevin feud, and AJ's debut and lasting almost half an hour, the surprise return of HHH to the ring at #30 and the tease of Ambrose almost winning the match after a show sealer earlier on in the night, made this a great PPV.

However the best Royal Rumble PPV ever was easily the 2001 edition. I mean what a time that must have been the be a wrestling fan you got to witness greatest PPV of all time Wrestlmania X-Seven and the greatest Royal Rumble PPV ever, also the depth of the rosters was insane!

I don't know why people are hating the 5 on 5 match. I found it very entertaining, it caught me by surprise quite a few times. Team Raw imploding was pure fun to watch. The Smackdown team in real/kayfabe both was no match to Raw.

I am fed up with Brock Lensar. There is no story to most of his matches. Same stuff being repeated again and again.

I was talking of the royal rumble match, I've already forgot this year's. The last good one might have been when John cena returned at number 30? I still remember how i excited i was at that. Recently the surprise returns haven't been that good and not enough of them. And number 30 for last few years ends up being someone already on the roster, big show came at number 30 twice in recent years I think, that's disappointing.

I agree with you on that the best royal rumble for me will always be the 01 edition and the one I mostly remember, it was my first one. I wanted the rock to win, but the match was awesome it had everything. And Wrestlemania X7 was also my first and again the best Wrestlemania I have watched, it had everything.. Austin v Rock vs amazing, the build up and the match itself.

I am fed up with Brock Lensar. There is no story to most of his matches. Same stuff being repeated again and again.

I'm not interested in seeing the braun v lesnar match again. Lesnar is running out of good opponents, I wouldn't mind seeing AJ v lesnar again, but with AJ winning. Perhaps a cross branded triple threat with Lesnar v AJ v Bryan, I think that could be really fun. But yeah cross branded triple threat seems really unlikely. Maybe on raw, Lesnar v Ambrose v Rollins for the title.

Yeah the 5 on 5 had a great deal of drama and was a fun match to watch, SD lost but it made perfect sense. You had Drew literally eviscerate Kurt in the UK with his own moves and then beat Joe in seconds, no way was he going to be on the losing end, then you have Braun / Ziggler with so much momentum to. SD team on the other hand was weaker, even more after losing Joe early on.

Problem is they booked Bryan / Brock last minute so there was literally no build but the match was a classic and had it all, ring psychology, ground work, brawling, aerial assault, technical wrestling, speed, power etc the styles of the two meshed really well, they could have an even better match with a solid 4-8 weeks build behind them. But outside this match Brock matches can be criticised for being a little one dimensional, it's not that he can't work as we saw in his match vs Bryan; it depends on what the booking team want from him and his motivation can play a role to, post the ending of the streak it made sense for him to be invincible also because of the UFC run

2001 was one of my favourite Rumbles ever, but the greatest for me is 1992 Royal Rumble. It was pristine, hall of fame talent galore who put on a spectacular match which culminated in the greatest triumph in Royal Rumble history, The Nature Boy Ric Flair going over, he put the industry on the map and destroyed every territory, his WWE run never quiet took off initially and his heart was always with WCW but on that night they pushed him to the moon and recognised his greatness which was such a beautiful moment and rare, you never saw heels go over in such fashion on a big stage especially at that time but Ric was unique and deserved such an honour. And you had the brain on commentary with gorilla!

RR 2016 Rumble may have been decent quality wise but in my books it is the worst in history purely because of HHH going over for the world title, it sort of took shine of Ric's triumph when this insecure maggot keeps on trying to justify his legend in the kayfabe world but we really don't care, he can win 5000 championships and we wont ever compare to Ric. HHH played one final card literally burying the entire roster and here's what's worse! during a time when Reigns was being criticised so much, HHH made things work by stinking the place out at Wrestlemania! he put the fans too sleep in that stadium, HHH for all his years of experience just showed why he is so average in the ring, he tried to force an epic and worked a one dimensional methodical 30 minute match which should have been an intense / physical 15 min brawl / fight , without the smokes, mirrors and right opponent HHH gets truly exposed, Reigns was a rookie himself and can't be criticised, we saw what AJ did for him after that match (And Bryan before that), he did more to elevate Reigns as a champion then HHH and gave an amazing account of himself to Vince as well.

I thought it was one of the better 5 on 5 SS matches i have watched mainly for Raw implosion plus some classic Shano O Mac and Rey Mysterious moments form Smack down side but that’s all they had. They were no match for Raw for the second year in a row. Poor team selection.

Team Stone Cold vs Team Bischoff with Austin’s job on the line still remains my favourite SS team match of all time. Nothings come close since.

Does WWW prohibit wrestlers from stealing someone’s finisher. Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins have stolen Pedigree and Super kick (HBK). A special privilege probably

That is one of the best SS matches ever, I think Shawn was on team Stone Cold to wasn't it ? and there was some angle involving him getting fired lol it was an enjoyable feud. There was another SS match from around 2005-2006 with Shawn and Rey on opposing teams, that was pretty good to

The super kick is pretty much done by every superstar to the point of over kill, but it doesn't matter because no one quiet pulls it off like HBK. Pedigree was only meant for HHH and he was grumpy about Seth using it, at the time it was perfect for Seth's heel persona at the time. Seth's curb stomp had been banned at that point, he can use it again now great finisher. The tombstone is probably the most protected finisher though and understandably so.

Stone Cold and HBK didn't like each other and HBK came pretty close to miraculously saving Stone Cold's job that match. It came 3 vs 1 at a time and then HBK went into a God mode only to get a chair shot by JBL i guess and an RKO out of nowhere to finish. It started Rnady's legendary reign in SS matches. Randy Orton's got to be among the most famous participants SS matches. He finished quite a few of them.

Just a shout out to JR for his outstanding commentary in the SvS 2003 match as well, I've NEVER, in any sport or form of entertainment heard commentary as good as what JR delivered in that match. One of the reasons I just can't get back to wrestling is the prospect of having to listen to that robotic goof Michael Cole for 3 hours straight, no thanks.. I'd rather bang my head against the wall for 3 hours.

TLC was a great PPV, Bryan followed up his 5* classic with Lesnar and had another MOTY candidate with AJ. Bryan's new heel persona has been fantastic, his character work over the years has also been under rated. Also love watching his fluidity and technical prowess, he works well with everyone and adjusts amazingly.

The TLC main event was great, glad to see Asuka go over keeps title picture open while Becky and Charlotte feud with Ronda who had an outstanding match with Nia Jax, her progression has been unreal. Natalya/Riot and Orton/Rey were brilliant to on the under card.

RAW has been a bit dead but hopefully will improve moving forward in 2019, closely follow Smackdown which has been very solid and fun this year. Glad to see Almas and Mustafa Ali shine this week, may well be a part of the upper card in 2019.

Bryan is an ATG, incredible heel work right now and has always been elite as an in-ring performer, so flawless and fluid to watch. Unlike some former champion doesn't botch either and keeps at it when the going gets tough.

Shaz, you're never going to get me to change my mind on Bryan. Just face it, he comes off boring to a lot of people and I'm one of them.

With 2018 coming to and end I'm going to rank my top 10 matches of the year. In WWE that is, and I'll only do the main roster as I don't want like 8 NXT Matches, I'll probably do a seperate top 5 list for that.

10. Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle vs Stephanie McMahon and Triple H – Wrestlemania 34: This had to be on my list I mean it was one of the best debut performances ever probably second best the Shield's debut at TLC is still my fav. But this was just amazing to see, people had their doubts about weather Ronda would be ready to go by Mania, and boy was she ready. Lots of credit to Triple H as well for getting in great shape for this match to put Ronda over.

9. AJ Styles vs Baron Corbin vs Dolph Ziggler vs Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn vs John Cena – WWE Fastlane 2018: This was early in the year and around this time WWE is it at it's best. The main event of Fastlane was no wrestling classic but it was a really fun match and one I really enjoyed.

8. Seth Rollins vs. The Miz – WWE Backlash 2018: Taking place on a PPV that was otherwise pretty lackluster this match stood out and it continued the red hot buzz around Seth Rollins. Unfortunate that some of that fire behind Rollins has cooled down thanks to a horribly booked raw in the last couple of weeks. But I am looking forward to seeing what 2019 brings for Rollins.

7. AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura Last Man Standing - WWE Money InThe Bank 2018: Honestly this feud was a let down, but when expectations are so high that was bound to happen, especially at WM. The matches were good but comparing them to their first 5 star encounter they were a bit of a let down. However, they did still manage to have a very entertaining Last Man Standing Blow off match.

6. AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe – WWE Summerslam 2018: This match was the first time we would see these two go at it in the WWE. It was a dream come true for TNA fans to see the two biggest TNA homegrown stars go at WWE's second biggest PPV of the year for the WWE CHAMPIONSHIP! Man this match was just great to see and I would put it a lot higher on the list had it not been for the finish, which was still not bad but this match had the potential to be so much better.

5. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre – WWE Hell In A Cell: This was match of the night at Hell in a Cell for me and probably one of the best tag team matches of the year.

4. Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan – WWE Survivor Series 2018: Not as good as Aj vs Brock at the same event last year but yes it was still a good match, and Brock's best performance this year. If you look at 2017 for Brock Lesnar it seems like he was an MVP, comparing him to this year. He's not had a single good match other than this one this year, and none of his feuds other than early on with Roman have been good. In 2017 he had Goldberg, Samoe Joe, the Fatal 4 Way, Braun Strwoman (FEUD), and AJ Styles. This year....

3. Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair vs Asuka – WWE TLC 2018: Take 3 of the most talented women on the roster, and put them in a match and the rest is history!

2. Charlotte Flair vs Becky Lynch – WWE Evolution: Two of the probably greatest female performers showing why they are that. Amazing performance by both women, enough said. If you haven't seen this match GO WATCH IT!

1. Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles – WWE TLC 2018: Okay so this was just a 5 star classic in my view. You have the two greatetest performers of this era going at it and obviously they churn up match of the year. Only shame is it happened in the middle of a TLC Card. The least WWE could have done is had them main event. However, I still believe they could have an even better match at Royal Rumble and lock up the match of the year spot early on.

What were your favorite matches of the year?

Bryan is an ATG, incredible heel work right now and has always been elite as an in-ring performer, so flawless and fluid to watch. Unlike some former champion doesn't botch either and keeps at it when the going gets tough.

????

PELE KICK.jpg

shaz619 this is brilliant you gotta admit. Never seen him botch a springboard before but here this is just fantastic. Turned a minor mishap into an angle, how many wrestler do you know of that have done that?

The greatest one of all time would have to be Kurt Angle's awareness despite the fact that he had less then a second to react, he was positioned too far out as Lesnar went for the shooting star press and when he didn't quite hit the mark Angle rolled over to make it seem as if he forced Brock to miss; then he carried him through the finish like a real pro when Brock had no idea where he was. And what's even more spectacular is the pressure scenario of a Wrestlemania main event and the small matter of 55 thousand people in attendance.

What were your favorite matches of the year?

Mine would be the series between Bryan and AJ not just on PPV but the matches they had on TV in 2018, Bryan / Lesnar, the tag match at mania involving Rousey and especially Rousey / Charlotte which was so intense and authentic like a genuine fight similar to Austin / Bret at WM 13, giving me intensity over a few flips any day of the week. Last man standing between AJ / Nak was also great and the AJ / Joe series.

I also enjoyed watching Jericho school Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom and teach him to wrestle, prospect of the year would have to be Mustafa Ali and his consistency on 205 live helping elevate the brand. He had so many great matches that fall under the radar, the one with Buddy at Survivor Series was great but he had some even better then that early in the year.

Bryan and AJ have a similar chemistry to Lesnar / Angle, they can wrestle 10 times in a row and each time you will enjoy what they do. I didn't mind the match at TLC being in the middle of the card because PPV's are way too long these days and at least they would have a crowd who are not on the brink of falling asleep, it was also good for me because I could go to bed as soon as they were done and then watched the TLC match in the next morning :yk

The tag match involving Rousey at mania personifies wrestling, rarely are wrestlers able to get the audience to suspend their disbelief and they managed to do that before a monster audience without any OTT circus wrestling but in-ring psychology. Kurt Angle was brilliant along with Rousey and Stephanie played her part very well to.

Tanahashi vs Ibushi G1 Final, Tanahashi vs Okada (both matches), Omega vs Ishii and Okada-Omega IV.

So many great matches in NJPW this year.

Indeed there were some great matches in NJPW this year my top few would be the following

Kenny Omega Vs. Chris Jericho – Wrestle Kingdom 12 Probably my favorite match of the year, yes lots of people would say there were better matches put on later in the year after this but just really loved this match.

The ones you mentioned are great and would fill up my top 5 for the year from NJPW as well. Especially Omega vs Okada IV boy was that a good match!

Yeah Bryan and AJ had some great matches especially the first one on Smackdown they had was just great. Rousey / Charlotte was great but I think it is hard to compare any match to Austin / Bret. That match at Mania 13 is probably still the greatest match in the history of wrestling for me. It is a masterpiece of wrestling and a match were to ever be awarded 7 stars that would be the match for me as it was just perfect.

Speaking about 205 Live ever since around Mania season when HHH took over the brand it has a been a breath of fresh air. Kind of a shame considering how good it could have been all along with top class guys like Aries and Neville in the mix. However ever since the summer when Ali and Murphy had that indie styled match on 205 live at a rapid pace it's been great. Looking forward to see what Ali can do on SDL in 2019. He may even get a shot at the WWE Title.

Wasn't saying that they were on par with Bret / Austin but that match at WM 13 set the blue print for blood feuds in terms of psychology and intensity, Charlotte and Rousey were able to show those qualities in their match. Bret / Austin were obviously on another level, Austin never gets enough credit for his in-ring work he was actually a technician himself before his neck injury, his ring smarts allowed him to adapt his style to his persona, this is what the elite performers are able to do even when faced with such adversity. You rarely see such intensity but credit to Charlotte and Ronda, they only had like a week off build or it was a few days before that match but what an amazing job they did, now compare it to Ambrose and Rollins at TLC this month, these two should have tried to kill each other in the ring instead all you got was the standard PPV wrestling layout with a few flips in between before Ambrose lifted the strap

Yeah a shame about Neville he clearly deserved and wanted better, he can still return stronger after his stint in Japan

Overall my MOTY is Gargano / Ciampa, keep forgeting they had that street fight this year which was one of the best I have ever seen

Overall my MOTY is Gargano / Ciampa, keep forgeting they had that street fight this year which was one of the best I have ever seen

I agree it was one of the best matches of the year but I feel, Okada vs Omega IV and Tanahashi vs Ibushi at G1 Climax were better wrestling matches.

But yeah the build and hype surronding the Gargano/Ciampa match was off the charts. Gargano vs Ciampa was a modern execution of a classic wrestling tale that has been told so many times, yet when booked right is still sooooo good to watch. With these two guys it was just that, perfectly booked the rivalry was personal and real. Everything you want from a wrestling program. This all obviously led to one of the best matches of the entire year, in which these two did EVERYTHING perfectly. They executed their wrestling moves and big sequences like absolute pros, whilst also masterfully using facial expressions, and dramatic pauses to emphasize the intense personal nature of their rivalry. To add to all this the crowd was so engaged in the match. They loved and cheered Gargano's every move as if he were Luke Skywalker and loathed Ciampa as the Darth-Vader like traitor who had turned to the dark side.

Honestly for all those poor souls who missed this rivalry because "Wreslin isn't what it used to be-be-because nobody swears anymore" or "the new guys suck" or "WWE is the worst piece of Pro Wreslin out there" without even watching a single match, let's have a moment of silence for all those "fans".

Matches in Japan are generally very one dimensional and those didn't do it for me, they shoot with their strikes and the high spots are excessive; I wouldn't mind this if these were B PPV's or mid card matches, but at the top of the card you need to show more versatility. Now Ibushi, Okada and Tanahashi are all very gifted but they just seem to go through the motions, I'd like to see them in America to show more depth but they wont take the risk, this is why Nakamura is the greatest Japanese wrestler ever for having the courage to take that leap of faith and having some success to.

Omega, the less said the better; he has a very robotic style which is tailor made for this era of video game wrestling style and I just can never go out of my way to watch his work aesthetically speaking, if you have smokes and mirrors e.g someone superior working with him or a gimmick match then will easier to watch as we saw in January when Jericho literally got a classic out of a broomstick, people say the east is better then the west but look they have a different approach when it comes to in-ring work and Jericho was awarded a 5* classic past his prime literally, they have no limitations when it comes to what they are able to do there which has its positives and negatives but in America you need to be smarter and sometimes this doesn't always result in what you'd like to see from an in-ring POV but when this style gets it right, no one can do it better.

NXT is a good balance between east and western wrestling styles, while Ciampa / Gargano enjoyed an amazing build the in-ring action was spectacular and am not mincing my words when I say it is one of the best street fights I have ever seen and the finish was just out of this world.

Raw seemed much better yesterday watched some videos on youtube. Also Brock an John returning next week!!!

I wanna see Brock open the show and Paul say how unbeatable he has been as champ, and take a dig at Cena by saying Winning the belt and holding on to it is much better than winning it 16 times and losing it in 2 weeks. Then I wanna see John race out in Thugonamics Style and take a couple hip-hop digs at Brock, and get in the ring and attack him. Then they get into a big brawl and Vinnie Mac should then come out and say

"STOP IT YOU TWO BYGOD GROW UP GET YOUR HANDS OFF EACH OTHER, ALL RIGHT SO YOU TWO WANT TO FIGHT SO BAD, I'LL LET YOU FIGHT, INFACT LADIES AND GENTELMEN TONIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 16 YEARS YOU WILL SEE BROCK LESNAR COMPETE ON RAW,(CROWD POPS LIKE CRAZY) OH YES AND IT WON'T JUST BE ANY STUPID TAG MATCH I ALWAYS BOOK NO, NO, NO CHANCE IN HELL, THIS IS A NEW YEAR AND WE SHOULD KICK THE FIRST RAW OF 2019 WITH A BANG, SO LADIES AND GENTLEMEN TONIGHT WE WILL SEE THE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP DEFENDED, (CROWD POPS) YES AND IT'S GONNA BE IN THE BIGGEST MAIN EVENT IN RAW'S 26 YEAR LONG HISTORY IT'S GONNA BE BROCK LESNAR VS JOHN CENA TONIGHT FOR THE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN A NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH WITH A!!!!!!!"

Boom Ratings go off the charts for the main event. We go from 1.8 odd million on Chrstimas eve 2 weeks back to 3-4 Million with that start to raw! Honestly I know that's all a fanatasy but imagine if we actually got to see Brock vs John main event Raw, I mean it would be the most viewed raw since the Post Mania Raw. I mean why not do it Cena is only there for like 2 episodes of Raw cause he has to leave so let's make full use of him! Even just a brawl between the two to set up a Mania program as I really want to see John get his 17th world title win at Mania this year!

I so badly want to see Brock wrestle next week! Come on Brock you haven't wrestled on Raw since 2002 just do it one time for the fans!

Can't wait for SD tonight, wondering what Becky and John will do. Also John really needs to cut that hair. :))

What a fantastic Smackdown we had! The main event was amazing, a 100 miles right out the gate. Styles showing that edgier side of him was great, and this thing with McMahon be the best thing to have happened to him and his character in a long time. Can not wait to see what the future holds for Styles, I'm predicting AJ to lose the match to Bryan but enter the Royal Rumble and win at this point.

Really wanted Joe to win the Fatal 5-Way tonight as we all know Bryan vs AJ is going to be another Barn-Burner but Joe vs Bryan would be just as good as these two have had countless classics on the indies. Their steel cage match especially stands out. Not only would they have a fantastic rivalry but it would add unpredictability to the match at the Royal Rumble. As we all know AJ isn't going to win back the WWE Championship any time soon. The only problem would have been that both men are heels.

I hope next week on raw, cena has something big lined up, he enters the rumble/sets up a mania match. Not entirely sure what lesnar will do, but I hope he announces his entry in the rumble. Do not want to see lesnar v strauman again. Maybe we'll see the undertaker appear :O as it's getting to Wrestlemania season. WWE are really going to struggle, perhaps after WM when all the big names aren't there, and they don't have Roman, potentially in terms of ratings this could be their worst year in a long time.

I think Randy will cost AJ the title to set up one of my ultimate WrestleMania dream matches, AJ Styles vs Randy Orton at the showcase of the immortals, it would have to steal the show; styles make fights and these two will have insane chemistry.

Everyone got to shine in that 5 way it was superb, an early TV MOTY candidate

The Professional Wrestling Discussion Thread

The wrestling world has been rocked by the death of "Mean" Gene Okerlund, the veteran interviewer who was as much a part of WWE as Spandex and chokeholds.

Renowned for his announcing, ringside commentary and chats with such stars as Hulk Hogan and Jesse Ventura, his death at 76 was announced by the WWE company.

In a tweet, the company described him as "the most recognisable interviewer in sports-entertainment history."

"Mean Gene I love you my brother," wrote Hogan in his own Twitter tribute.

Others to pay homage included wrestler turned actor Steve Austin, who said he was "untouchable" and "simply the best".

Wrestler Titus O'Neil called Okerlund "one of the classiest men" he'd ever met, while WWE Women's Champion Natalya "Nattie" Neidhart said he was "one of the greatest of all time".

Born Eugene Okerlund in 1942, "Mean Gene" came to prominence by interviewing the stars of the American Wrestling Association (AWA).
His nickname was coined by Jesse "The Body" Ventura, despite Okerlund being renowned for his friendly disposition.

Okerlund's long career spanned the AWA, WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006.

Okerlund, who had kidney transplants in 1995 and 2004, made his last appearance on WWE TV in January 2018.

Yet he continued to make personal appearances and was seen in a soft drinks commercial alongside comedian Kevin Hart last May.

I know Randy vs AJ has been one of my dream matches for AJ since he arrived and I've been surprised that it hasn't happened for so long considering they've both been SD guys. Guess the upside is that Orton is a heel know and more motivated than he would of been 8-12 months back. Should be a killer feud and steal the show at Mania.

This incarnation of heel Orton is arguably my favourite since the legend killer, he has been doing terrific work as a character and in the ring as well and with Styles coming off a world class championship reign and run as a face this is the perfect time to have the match and were are very fortunate

'Mean' Gene Okerlund passes away at 76

It's hurts. Really, really hurts. It's a shame I'm almost scared everytime I log on to wrestling sites. All I just hope everytime is I don't get the news of anyone's death. Gene was a man who had virtually no enemies in the business, beloved by all. Much like Bobby Heenan.

RIP!

I'm not going to keep grudges here. Hogan was a very close friend of him, and here's him paying tribute to 'Mean' Gene -

On another note, maybe that idiot should have kept his posing out of the show on such a somber occasion.

RIP, just catching up. Watched that entire segment, teared up watching the tribute video for Mene Gene; we may find another elite wrestler or commentator , perhaps even a manager but we will never ever get an announcer of that calibre he was on another level and his eye for the business was incredible, will forever miss his wit and humour.

Everyone has their views on Hogan but even when you dislike him to the max when he walks down that ramp to real american you got to be a serial lier if you don't feel something, this man has never been perfect but he helped put the industry on the map globally and gave so many youngsters beautiful memories to hold onto, that promo from him was one of his best ever and an amazing tribute, you could tell it was straight from his heart and it must not have been easy to be out there, Hogan is Hogan but he loved his friends and competitors he looked up to like Andre. Thank you to Mean Gene, there will never be another.

Does anyone know where Kurt Angle is? He was easily one of the toughest guys to beat.
