What's new

The Zulqarnain Haider Story

Just talked to a person in Pakistan who knows Zoni's family. I don't know if he has talked to Zoni's family or not since the news came out. This is what he had to say.

If this true brother, well then..........

We deserve whatever we get.

To me it seems like a drama. Why would you leave Dubai and go to England when your family is in Pakistan? He was in Dubai not in Pakistan, so it's not like he cannot get good security there. Then, as he said, his family's life is in danger too but they still are living in Pakistan, matter of a fact he has not even contacted his family.. If My family' s life was in danger, I for sure would be in constant touch.. won't go away thousand miles and break all contact.

Did he? :O I didn't know that bit of the story!

This is surely something big going on then!

Oh definitely. And we will surely know the truth in the coming days and come face to face with the reality that we dont have angels in our team.

I wont be saying much on this anymore now because the emotional and 'conspiracy theory' factor is running too high on this forum right now, which is reminding me of our infamous Pakistani media.

Exactly same here!

Maybe he wants to expose some players.

Whatever it is he has to tell the press. And for all those people who are saying he's selling us down the river this is why Pak is so corrupt because we dont want to grass or snitch on someone even though they are doing something wrong. This is why we stay so corrupt.

So very well said!

Exactly. Going to the media DOES ensure safety. But he hardly went to the media. He went to just Geo. The channel that went on a Save Zoni campaign when he was sent back during the England test series. And were quite active in the anti-Kamran campaign where some of Zoni's comments made me cringe. And this is the reason I am not satisfied with the way the picture is presented.

All he had to do was call a press conference in Dubai, both Pakistani and international, and come clean with what threats he has received and from whom. And then he should have asked the Dubai police to provide him security. Trust me, even if he hadn't involved the police, the media would have provided him that security because they keep an eye on you 24/7. Is ko shayad bathroom bhi akelay na jaanay detay!

What he did is not making sense.

And what about his family in Pak?. You do know that hes more worried about his family? Even while talking to Geo now he kept on asking for security for his family.

Do you really think after giving out all those names, hes family would have been safe in PAK? No matter how much security you provide in Pak, its practically useless.

To whoever changed the title of this thread:

Are you trying to demean him by calling him a "boy" ?

Come on now.

His family in Pak would have gotten the same security it is getting now that he is in London. How would that have been different?

And he will have to give names even now. If he wanted to wait till his family got to him before naming, he could have done that in Dubai too.

As I said, I ll wait for a while until the 'emotional' and 'conspiracy theory' fsctor eases down a bit here. It is no use at the moment.

It is. You dont get it.

Had he taken those names, the mafia or whoever would have been onto his family. But now since he has NOT taken those names, you could say his family is kind of safe.

Theres a reason hes trying to arrange visas for family, mate.

Trust me, he wont give any of those names until he is fully assured his family is safe i.e they are in UK or any other sort of security.

I know a few members of the mafia -Butt, Asif, Rana could someone please tell me the rest of the players who are involved in this so called mafia...

Thanks!

Life-ban from the PCB likely for Zulqarnain Haider, I think. Which means he's available for selection in 2 months time

kami gul kaneria haider asif amir salman malik...all of these players are in some deep sh!t.

And I did clarify in my post that if he wanted to call his family before he named names, it could have been done that way. Just like he is doing now from England.

why :gul? sorry if I missed something...

this has to be most bizzare attempt at gaining english citizenship lol...just kidding...hope he and his family are ok and this is just some misunderstanding/weird stunt gone wrong.

Malik kami junior akmal aamir yusuf

Thanks but im sure Yousuf isnt.

I met him in my summer holidays and had a chat with him for like an hour with my uncle and dad.

He is a very humble guy and i highly doubt he would have been part of this.

Also him and Malik used to best friends until Malik didnt pick him for T20s, which lead to them not being friends. Younis made them make up,now they at least say salaam to each other

Same could have been done from Dubai. Your point is moot.

Your missing the point clearly. He left for UK because he felt it was safe for him there. He did not consider UAE safe for him, for whatever reasons known to him.
I did hear somewhere that he was actually given a death-threat face to face as well, so i guess that MIGHT have been a contributing factor for him running to UK.

Sure, we can give him the benefit of the doubt. I'll wait.

Jutt saab her koi aap ki terha nahi ho sakta.

jai mauley noo maula na maarey, tey maula nai mer sagda oye!

i don't know about you guys but i feel sorry for him

obviously there is something BIG going on..something that we cant even imagine

i mean leaving like he did..i hope he doesn't do something stupid like suicide

defiantly will pray for him

Mazhar Mahmood is on this case and the mystery will be solved this Sunday courtesy News Of The World. Stay Tuned!

if the form book is anything to go by if he had gone directly to PCB or ICC they would have done everything to keep it hush-hush and effectively done nothing and his family would have still been in danger

by fleeing and making it public that threats have been made against himself and his family it was 1.01 that the Pak police were going to take it seriously and post police officers outside the family home

sometimes going public is the only way to protect yourself from the underworld

Because rashid latif was shot dead after exposing corruption wasn't he and who says he had to go to the icc, why not go to interpol in dubai, why not speak to the dubai police?

Or why not finish the series, go back to pak and take his family with him on a long visit to london.

Unless his life was in immediate danger, which confuses me as to why he waited 3 days after the last odi to make his way to england.

If he was fearful of his life why not go somewhere like sweden/iceland/ switzerland without telling anyone, arrange for his family to be given bodyguards and protection and speak to news of the world on the phone from a nice hotel room in the alps.

This is what happened.

1) Zoni got disciplined

2) He didn't like it and so he thought he would go to england where someone in the press must have given him a nice drink during the tour in england a la yasir hameed and thought it would be a nice way to bring his family up in england.

What he's done is a big drama and made sure as many people know about him as possible.

As for your point about the best way to protect yourself is going public, that doesn't make sense.
He might as well have shown himself in an advert during the superbowl telling the world gunde are after him.

He's gone from a safer part of the world to one with a lot more journalists just for the attention and so that the english press drink out of his lap.

Only in Pakistan you can predict unpredictable.

Hopefully, he will be safe. He or whoever responsible has ruined his career. I will be very surprised to see him playing in Pakistan jersey again.

Yeah that makes sense he is willing to potentially destroy his entire cricketing career because he got disciplined :20:

And you are a grade A idiot who will have absolutely no problem getting a job with an Indian news outlet, or as a writer for some soap. Seriously, use your brain next time you decide to type so many words. It's amazing how much non-sense you were able to come up with.

Wait till the details come out. Wait till you hear something substantial or quote worthy from the man himself, or his employers. Till then, don't wear your hat on your ass, and keep the bs to the minimum. Instead of the opposite.

Why not

He wasn't going to get picked again after this series

And he'l make alot more money in the next few days then he would as an 'honest' pakistani cricket player

Unless you would like to debate some of the finer detail, shut up.

His fine was a whopping $136 and he is willing to give up his entire bread and butter for that? he would have to be some next level idiot to do such a thing.

he must have thought the bad guy has a man or men in the team hence he disappeared without telling anyone

Seeing as you've edited your post.

Are you his agent or a family member.

He's announced to the world he's going to england becuase of alledged threats on his life because of match fixing, he should have shut up till he was ready to be exact about his details instead of embarrasing himself and his country and so yes people are entitled to the opinion that's he's a self conceited attention seeker until he delights us with the full revelation of his story as a political refugee.

finer detail?
you keep storming through levels of moronville. Because, there are no details to be debated or discussed. Zulqarnain hasn't spoken about this yet. His employers have issued a statement which revealed nothing to discuss or ponder about. So, in the absence of these "fine details", you "debating" them or colliding them in the hadron collider for all their worth, they'll churn out pure, unfiltered, bullSH**!

I like Zoni's build.Zoni has the same height as batman.Thought when he disappeared,he would take the mafia head on and then proclaim "I am the watchful guardian, the silent protector, the dark knight"

If that was the case there wouldn't be ten pages on this thread and countless other threads discussing the story.

It's a forum where people discuss issues especially cricket issues and i don't see you having a problem with the people who have already condemmed pakistan cricket to death, are now convinced bob woolmer was murdered and that everyone in the pakistan team is a cheat.

It works both ways and i look forward to you condemining every opinion on this thread that is not based on solid hard fact.

Looks like no more news about zulqarnain tonight. I'll have to look up tabloids and other English papers to see if anyone is reporting something new

we should assume the best about our brother. if we recieved a death threat how would we react.

Don't flatter yourself with this entitlement of an opinion just because your dad bought you a keyboard and an internet connection. You are entitled to an opinion, but within the confinements of a well observed boundary of decency and humanity. You're not only speculating, or propagating, but you're stepping over the fine lines of decency and calling a national ambassador of Pakistan filthy names and just uttering non-sense about him without any substance or proof.

Once he comes out to the media and actually says the things that are being reported through sources, we can discuss this and you may be entitled to an opinion. But, until then, just pop a pill or go watch some next indian movie to get your fix for drama.

are you the fella that was giving me a big argument that the UK press never target the English football players? they only go after the Pak cricket team as part of some international conspiracy to prevent Pak winning the next World Cup? and then two days after your rant the NOTW published a front page sex and drugs expose involving two players from Newcastle Utd :)))

apologies if i'm mixing you up with another poster

Guys feel free to express your opinion, whatever it maybe, but do not descend into personal insult towards posters you do not agree with.

Read my last post and if you don't like what i'm typing cover your eyes or tell yourself you're hallucinating and it might help you in your one man fight for mr haider

No one is that much an idiot and how exactly will he be making more money now then an "honest" cricketer?

We'l see how much of an idiot he is over the next few days.

Those who do the same are on the same level of stupidity as you are. So, let me get this straight, you want to spout off about things you don't have the slightest clue about and prance around like a jack ass behind the comfort of a computer screen just because a lot of others do it too?

I don't have the time or the energy to "condemn" every one else. You were the last one to type up a post full of non-sense and I pounced on you. Could very well have been some one else of the idiot-bragade.

That's a weak argument

Basically you're either besotted with mr haider and can't take any criticism of him when he's left himself open to it or you've just had a hard day and decided to lash out with your wireless keyboard.

But it's fine, you don't have to apologise.

You're wasting your time, Chacha K. No one will listen to you right now. It's just going to be lots of insults coming your way. Wait till things cool down and you'll find more people agreeing with you.

Lol your entire argument itself is made on assumption and you are calling someone else's argument weak?

Can you provide any fact or proof that supports your argument that zulqarnain left because of discipline issues?

You think this was/is an argument? Is your head so far up the other side of your entire existence that you would even entertain such a notion? LOL

I have no vested interest in Zulqarnain's cricketing career or his activities, on or off the field. He's a national ambassador of Pakistan, and for that he deserves and has earned a degree of respect. Something brain-dead foose-balls like you fail to comprehend.

If all this sounds like an apology, I can only laugh and express pity on the sad state of your life. Seriously.

PCB is hiding...we have serious links with the bookie circles...their was no passion present today...you could see a sea of difference btw 4th odi and today...sad sad state of affairs...how much we love this team and what we get back...sadness...

we are cursed since the day our team was the reason for the death of a very honest man...RIP Bob Woolmer

has any got the video footage of him arriving in london?

But you don't have to make excuses for your love of mr haider, it's very self evident and i look forward to you sticking up for every pakistani ambassador be it a politican/ sports man or cricket coach on this forum in the future.

I am one of those who think that this is a selfish and cowardice act from a makhee of a player. Thats whats gutting and galling about it. Any old Joe can take the p*** now.

His career was all but over after this series with the way he performed behind the stumps, lets have no doubts about that.

This is a quote from his brother on cricinfo :

"Sources in Haider's family, meanwhile, indicated that the atmosphere within the squad might have contributed to his decision. One source told ESPNcricinfo that Zulqarnain was suitably excited after the fourth ODI victory but, in a call to family members the next day, he spoke of tension and pressures within the side getting him down."

This leads me to believe he is a weak minded selfish **** who decided to make last big payday for himself at the expense of Pakistan cricket....

Anyway, lets see how he makes a fool of himself in the next few days....

Whenever I do find the time, I do the same for anyone. I even did it for Mohammad Sami of all people. Go ahead and scroll through my posting history.

Just because you have nothing productive in your life that needs attention, and all you can contribute to society is cooking up wild conspiracies and slanderous posts on message boards about people who have worked hard to be where they are and continue to do so, doesn't mean I or any sane human being has to ignore it for the sake of ignoring it.

I have been appalled by Zoni's decision-making throughout the day.

Obviously, I have based my personal opinion of the various news bits [claimed by numerous sources] regarding his disappearance and the reasoning behind it. I still feel he has completely botched things up by completely keeping the PCB and/or ICC [ACSU] out of this entire procedure.

I can understand the logic behind not telling fellow players [whom might be involved] and the team management officials. It's fine to be wary of PCB officials because we all know the system is corrupt and any given person can be on the wrong side of the law. However, I am shocked he did not inform the ACSU/ICC about his conundrum. Running away was foolish enough, but then to post a FB message about it + update news sources about his whereabouts was idiotic.

I am sorry but I lost all sympathy for this man. He just seems like another Yasir Hameed [12 year old mentally]. I am not under any circumstance denying the possibility that he was indeed contacted by sinister individuals and given a death threat. This is all very plausible, but the way he's handled it is absurd and surely out of order and a tad "filmy" if I must say. Too many Hollywood/Bollywood movies for him at home?

Anyway, final judgments can obviously only be made after he makes a proper statement concerning his reasoning and all the other answers we require from him.

Wow, way to keep a clear and objective point of view. Let me know how far it gets you in life.

Anyway, final judgments can obviously only be made after he makes a proper statement concerning his reasoning and all the other answers we require from him.

Buddy,
Have the ICC released a statement that syncs with the one PCB gave out? Once that happens, we can rightfully burn the guy. As it stands, from the limited information we have about this ordeal, it does make Zulqarnain's actions extremely suspect. But, you don't know if he did not inform the ACSU. So, what's with the nasty attitude towards him?

Eagle eye. From the quoted statement, I dont really see how you deduced his "lack of perfomance" could be a reason for his team mates putting him down. Maybe its the other way around. Maybe he rattled a few cages the way he played and there is no question about it there is a pressure group within the team that like their friends to stay in the team. Kamran happens to be a popular character within that clique. Maybe his brother Umar and the other remaining members of the Oath Brigade were not taking kindly to Haider because they felt he threatened their best mate's place in the team.

That statement can be twisted and turned any which way you like. I am just hopeful someone, Haider himself, media, PCB, Jack Sparrow, whoever, comes out with a statement soon to put all this speculation and conjecture to rest.

If there is not solid ground for his actions either he is severely unhinged or a celebrity status seeker.

If not, then we have bigger problems to worry about than bickering and fighting like children on internet.

DCP..... grow up

Yeah, I who is keeping himself from slating the guy for disappearing because nothing factual has come out about the whole ordeal needs to grow up, but the idiot-brigade with their chest-beating and insulting of a guy without any facts or actual information is doing an excellent job. Bravo!

Bro your a very good poster but i feel your being a bit harsh. None of us have been put in his situation and wont know how to react unless it actually happens to us. His brain must have been going at 100mph. Maybe he had to meet someone in Eng or was told to go their by the mafia.

Also maybe he couldnt tell the ICC because they are part of it;just a theory.

What he has to do though is tell the press everything and whatever it may be that has caused all of this comotion.

If its to do with players i hope they are exposed InshAllah to get rid of the cancer within our team.

if hes here to seek asylum i hope they dont put him in one of thos special immigration detention centres he may not be able to handle it

That's precisely the point I've been trying to get across. There's absolutely no basis for this hostile attitude towards Zulqarnain. If anything, PCB, the team management and the recent cliques within the team framework only give me reason to support Zulqarnain's actions (if they were substantiated). Until, Zulqarnain comes out and reveals the reasons for his actions, just stay on the fence. And, if you are going to slate the guy, for whatever your personal reasons are, at least be courteous and decent enough to not insult or abuse him. Is that too much civility to expect?
