Thats what we wanted. All other countries will negotiate fast and there will be a mutually agreeable compromise.
No compromise with China. China is a global threat to USA and other and a regional threat in the subcontinent as well. Trump is full on pedal to the metal here. Let's see how strong China is. Moment of reckoning for them.

Dont care about other countries- that was never the focus. It's all about China. Was and is about China. Power of protest lol.. People can protest peacefully in the USA no issues.
And yeah want to see how strong China is. If China wins this- then congrats- a reality check for the USA and time to pull their socks up. Thats the thing. The USA is way resourceful and they will buck up and emerge stronger. Dont see China winning though. Lets see how much longer the Chinese bluster will last. If this weakens china considerably - so be it.

Total genius move. I mean, who needs nuanced diplomacy or long term strategy when you can just wing it with some tariffs and tweets, right? I'm sure China was shaking in their boots or at least mildly amused while sipping tea and watching the chaos unfold.

Look at Dow Jones now. It has surged by 2,700 points, marking the biggest rally in the last five years. Don't worry about China. It is temporary too. :inti

This is not pak or ban where some protests will bring a government down lol. Trump is a live example of that when he lost in 2020.. again why does China want to do business with the rogue state USA?? They can stop all trade with USA right?? What's stopping them?🤔

What’s the endgame, forcing China to buy more American products? Besides weapons of mass destruction and overpriced fighter jets, what does the US even produce that the average global consumer wants? Be honest, outside the US, no one’s lining up to drive American cars.

China is the world’s factory, and that’s not by accident. Other countries can try, but none of the West will take that crown. Why? High labor costs, regulations, and overhead make it a non starter. Even if the factories shift to Vietnam, what’s the plan? Slap tariffs on them too?

If the goal is to shut down China as the global factory, here’s an idea, compete. Innovate. Outperform. But don’t cry foul when you’re decades behind on efficiency.

China weathered COVID better than most, and it’s not going anywhere. Unless the entire world suddenly stops buying from China, which won’t happen, this panic is performative.

The “MIGA of MAGA” crowd seriously needs to take a breath.
 
U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer reacted to today's market and tariff chaos, calling it "just a game for Donald Trump."

Schumer did not mention the new 10 per cent tariffs on Canada and Mexico, but said Trump does not appear to be thinking his actions through and that a tariff strategy against China, for example, would have to involve creating alliances.

"What Trump has done is he's created a situation where the whole world's against us and everyone's furious at America and we're alone," Schumer said.

"It is really real, very real for people's lives, people's livelihoods, people's retirements, people's income."

Schumer said he had no faith "that this has been thought out, planned out and will lead to any good result at all."

Just like this isn't about Pakistan or Bangladesh, it's not about India either. China is a real superpower not a fake one like India and they stood their ground. Trump, on the other hand, had to bow to global protests and save face by temporarily pausing tariffs. All that bravado you showed earlier in this thread has faded after the 90-day tariffs pause. Now, just like Trump, you are trying to save face by taking jabs at the Red Dragon, China. :yk :inti

This isn’t patriotism, it’s market manipulation, straight from the Oval Office. Trump’s playing a four year game of “get rich or get out,” and the middle class is footing the bill.

People are acting like these stunts will somehow make China buy more American cars, or that the world’s going to stop sourcing from the factory of the planet. Spoiler, they won’t.

This isn’t about fixing trade. It’s about transferring wealth upward, fast. Trump knows the clock’s ticking, and he’s making sure his circle cashes in before the next midterm elections.

And the MIGA wing of MAGA? Just background noise. Treat them like the nuance free distraction they are.
 
Never really understood the point of America taking on the whole world at the same time. The biggest issue is with China who they have a massive trade deficit with.

USA actually exports quite a bit even to eu. To China they don’t buy much. And at the same time China are USA’s main rival which threatens their status as the biggest economic power.

Always thought he’d use all the countries to gang up on China.

Seems to be doing this now somewhat. But still don’t get the logic of irritating all the other countries.

All seems a bit strange and I still don’t think these tariffs were a wise decision. USA is complaining not having trade in areas where they don’t have a comparative advantage. If a country evenly split their resources and tried to dominate every industry they would be worse off. Better to get great in a few and then mainly trade for the rest.

Think this will all end in a global recession personally. Which will probably take a year or so to recover. I agree with some I think that countries that are not USA or China could eventually take advantage while these two are fighting and come out stronger after this trade war finishes. Don’t see USA or China gaining though.

China is a threat that trump recognizes and he's acting accordingly because the EU and Islamic ummah have no spine whatsoever to handle China. Let China stop all its exports to USA.
