No, these 'experts' always underestimate the risk of a successful fourth innings chase. They consider all 4th innings chases as outliers and never bother to assess pitch conditions properly.

The weather forecast can't be used to base these decisions on a flat pitch. If a session was washed off, Australia would never have had enough time to win the match in any case.
