I call nyc home. Very few people have left nyc due to the pandemic for good. Rents are down ( short term). Sale prices are holding ,, 5-7 percent down in manhattan. A bit less in Brooklyn and Brooklyn 2 beds with private outdoor up 5 percent. Columbia university one of the biggest landlords in nyc just. Colllected 90 percent of the pre pandemic rent (third quarter). Upper middle calls leaving . Rich people will return as usual. Where else will they go to spend their hard earned money.

As of where I am right know Buffalo in a 99% white town (also lived in posh areas of Westchester so it wasn't as big a jump but still from a ghetto to a trump county crazy experience)

Very varried experience cause living among different kinds of people is different than just visiting it gives you new presepective about life/US

I have three friends and my brother has 2 friends who lived from Cali to Dallas in last 2-3 years as their company ( part of it or all of it moved to Dallas). One I know for sure was liberty mutual. Another was a start up called zig zag medís group . Got bought by adobe. Another friend moved not from Cali though to the Toyota head quarters in Dallas

Dallas BTW already had a big set for financial IT departments for banks etc and that would attract similar companies that would want to leverage that skillset/experience.

I had moved to Seattle in 2016. We had Amazon & Microsoft as the 2 big tech companies. Google had presence here but not big one. Since then google has tripled its set up especially their cloud organization even Oracle setup their cloud division in the vicinity and that is because of available cloud expertise in the market (Amazon AWS & MS Azure). Since then I have seen Redfin, AirBnB, UBER, Facebook expand 5x in this area. So if there is an exodus of tech from bay area, it is into Seattle not TX (at scale). Yes people in other employment such as retail, hospitality, even healthcare maybe finding LA, SFO to be exorbitant and move to Arizona/TX but not tech.

Similarly Amazon wanted to add 25000 high paying job in the NYC area that would have included 5k tech roles that needed to leverage Financial/tech expertise which were available in abundance at Wall Street.

All my relatives who live in the US are resigned to another Trump term. They continuously mention that what CNN reports is not reality. The polls which show Biden ahead, maybe people should factor in that these news channels are deliberately trying to target Biden supporters, anti Trump supporters.

I believe a lot of Hollywood celebrities who secretly admire Trump are scared of coming out and publicly supporting him because of the fear of being blacklisted by the industry. Those who refer to his handing of the pandemic are forgetting that a lot of Trump supporters believe that shutting down the economy would have been ten times catastrophic for the country.

Well good thing your relatives don't make up the majority of Americans: The fact is that Biden is going to win the election, it would take a miracle for Trump and the odds are not in his favor. I can bet you, Trump is not getting reelected. He lose PA, NC, MI, WI which is enough for Biden to win, and I haven't even counted in FL, AZ and IA although I'll give to Trump for now but that wouldn't be enough to save Trump.

You make good points however Trump was still trailing the polls before Covid hit. The fact is America is a very diverse country and the electorate is more diverse and younger than ever, even in 2016 the majority of minorities voted Blue and in 49 out of 50 states, Hillary won the non-White vote. Trump was able to clinch those states by winning the Blue wall states of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan (I'm not sure Ohio was always blue) and he won by less than 1% in those states! Biden is much more likeable than Hillary and some of the POCs and college educated whites and women that did split for Trump in 2016 have seen the divisions he sowed and will now flip back to blue.
