[VIDEOS] "After the extremely poor performance against India, it is clear that a major surgery is necessary": Mohsin Naqvi

Mohsin Naqvi will apparently do a press conference on Monday or after Eid explaining the PCB decisions and steps going forward.

A lot of players are going to be sent packing, even Babar and Shaheen might be rested from the Bangladesh series

His own performance was zero
And yet he has given us two trophies

This is the main difference between Rizwan cultists and Saifi fans. Rizwan supporters only care about individual stats, nothing more nothing less. it doesn't matter how the team performs, all that matters is Rizwan stat pads and gets enough footage for another round of tiktok edits

On the other hand, anyone who supports Sarfraz backs him because we know that he will put everything on the line for the team. He doesn't care about stats or person milestones. If he needs to open he will open and if he needs to bat at 11 he will bat at XI. This is what leadership and putting the team first looks like.

At the end of the day history will remember Saifi for two ICC trophies whereas Rizwan will be only be remembered for this:

While Sarfaraz has/had his flaws. He is the guy that defeated India in 2 ICC finals, With the CT final win being a major win over India. Rizwan on the other hand is just a joker.

Good idea not to go back to Pakistan

But enjoying vacation time? Thought the World Cup was that?

As per a news report:

The Pakistan cricket team, which failed to qualify for the Super Eight round of the ICC T20 World Cup, will begin their journey back to Pakistan today.

The players will arrive in Pakistan on June 19 via Dubai. However, sources reveal that six players, including the captain, along with four officials, will not be returning with the rest of the team.

These players, namely Babar Azam, Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, and Azam Khan, plan to spend time with their family and friends.

Some of them will be travelling to London for holidays. During their time in London, some are considering playing in leagues in the UK.

Meanwhile, head coach Gary Kirsten and assistant coach Azhar Mahmood will head to their homes. The Pakistan cricket team currently does not have any immediate engagements, so the coaching staff, with PCB's permission, is going back to their respective countries.

Exactly, why are Pakistan so scared to send inexperienced sides to Bilateral series so they can have a proper look at the talented youngsters and other players who haven’t been given a chance, yesterdays dead rubber was the perfect opportunity to give another couple of players a chance but the status quo was applied

Babar's 10 wicket win over India in a group stage that didn't lead to a t20 win is nowhere close to ct2017 pak victory over India which was utter dominance.

As for leading scorers. That's not impressive, It's t20, openers will have the advantage of being top scorers. Tamim Iqbal was the highest run scorer in 2016 world cup, that doesn't mean he'd be in team of the tournament for that cup lol.

Agree with all expect Imad thing. He is still good as a bowler in limited-over format. He was the best spinner for Pakistan since he comeback.

Babar has to go as a captain along with Shadab, Azam, Iffi, Saim, Usman.

Pakistan Cricket Board to revert back to previous selection committee system after T20 World Cup disappointment

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reverting to its previous selection committee system after the recent T20 World Cup experiment without a chief selector resulted in poor outcomes.

Pakistan were eliminated in the group stage after losing to both the USA and India. The PCB believes the lack of a chief selector contributed to the team's underperformance.

A source told PTI, “The board is likely to return to the old system of having a chief selector with two or three selectors and the captain and head coach not sitting in selection meetings with the selectors.”

Former Test fast bowler Wahab Riaz, who was part of the selection committee for the T20 World Cup, might be appointed as the new chief selector.

New coach Jason Gillespie to lead training camp for Pakistan ahead of Bangladesh Test series Wahab had previously served as chief selector before the PCB shifted to an eight-selector model.

In addition to Wahab, the new system had included the captain and head coach—Babar Azam and Gary Kirsten—alongside a data analyst and former cricketers like Mohammad Yousuf, Asad Shafiq, and Abdul Razzaq. Despite his other role as the national team's senior manager during the World Cup, Wahab is seen as a close confidant of PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

He was also appointed as advisor sports by Naqvi when he was serving as caretaker chief minister of Punjab before the elections. The board is also reconsidering the central contracts awarded to players by former chairman Zaka Ashraf, which span three years. The source indicated changes could be imminent for those underperforming.

As per media reports, Pakistan men’s cricketers may refused central contracts if they are demoted after the poor performance in T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan Cricket Board is awaiting head coach Gary Kirsten's report and it will be deemed crucial for future decisions. PCB will make decisions in light of this report.

This sounds splendid. The fans are just bickering. As far as Mr. Chairman is concerned the job is well done by Wahab.

No Problem. The players will still need NOC's from the PCB to play leagues around the world. Good luck getting them.

"Players Not Only Took Their Wives...": Pakistan Cricket Board Unhappy With Squad's Conduct At T20 World CupT20 World Cup: A reliable source in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is livid with the performance of some senior officials and held them responsible for the indiscipline prevailing in the Pakistan cricket, The source said further:

"You can expect the PCB to lose senior management level officials and also enforce some strict policies for the players in future," the source said.

"The fact that so many players not only took their wives and children to the World Cup even had their parents, brothers etc staying in the team hotel has left the chairman unhappy,"

"Some of these officials are not professionals but fans of the players and have given them lot of concessions which eventually led to the World Cup debacle,"

Gary Kirsten should not go overboard. This was not his team. He didn’t work on it. He needs to spend time with the team first and gradually churn out detractors. Should not fall into media hype and take drastic decisions.

Why not? Sorry I have to disagree.

Over 80% of the squad has no business playing international and the other 15% have no business playing t20 cricket.

Gary should build his team based on his own assessments and not rely on hearsay. This isn't his team yet. While it's important to drop those who don't perform or lack merit, he shouldn't overreact to issues like someone bringing their family or Person A not talking to Person B. He should focus solely on cricket matters, determining how he wants to utilize each player and what role each should have. Since he has just started, he should give himself every opportunity to build the team he wants.

He has spent the time he feels sufficient and observed the players in the last one month. If he feels the present lot if too unprofessional, non-serious then he has every right to take drastic decisions. He was hired by the PCB to turn around the fortunes of the team.

Was listening to a senior sports reporters vlog where he revealed the following

- The present team which went to the US was divided and mentally not ready or hungry to win the WC. The team is divided in various different camps ie Babar camp, Shaheen camp ie Shaheen feels betrayed and hard done by the PCB and Babar, Rizwan camp where Rizwan feels he is Pakistan's rightful next captain. The players on the trip only really communicated with each other on a need too basis but overall no one went out of the way to help the captain and other players. Mohsin Naqvi apparently knew about the issues in the team before the WC and he tried his best to motivate the players by telling them to focus on winning the WC and any differences, problems will be resolved afterwards.

During Ramiz reign the entire team was single-handedly behind Babar, however it was during Sethis reign where Babar and Rizwan felt threatened by the PCB offering the T20 captaincy to Shaheen and the ODI vice captaincy to Shan Masood, Shaheen had to turn down the captaincy of the T20 team vs Afghanistan under pressure from Babar Azam

However things took a turn for the absolute worst under Zaka Ashraf who started the practice of meeting players individually and started promising them the captaincy going forward. The PCB had already told Shaheen in the ODI WC in 2023 that he was going to be the next white ball captain and Babar knew about this and there are videos of Shaheen pushing Babar in the Afghanistan game.

Babar got his revenge against Shaheen by utilizing the Peshawar Zalmi card and got himself reinstated as captain immediately and now you have a situation where there is a deep sense of insecurity, mistrust, animosity in the team where its every player for himself.

- Gary Kirsten has complained about everyone from the captain to the players ie he was just primarily busy trying to keep the players together that he did not get time to focus on the tactical side of things. He also complained that the players were not listening to his inputs, game plans and some of the players including the captain misbehaved with him ie I have been playing for Pakistan for a long time, I have been captaining for Pakistan for a long time, who the hell are you to come to Pakistan and tell me what to do.

- The PCB has no choice but to drop all these players and send them back to domestic cricket and cancel all their league contracts, these players need to be given the message that they cannot keep playing on the basis of past performances and seniority, they need to regain the hunger to play for Pakistan again.

- Mohsin Naqvi is unhappy with the incompetence and slow pace of the PCB officials and a prime example is the PCB official who was responsible for booking the teams hotel in New York City didn't even bother to double check that the hotel was 90 minutes from the ground. Also some of the PCB officials are part of the groupings among the players and they leak PCB information to the players.
Rely on Naqvi to clear out all this mess with the help of Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie....

I would say dont make any sound for captaincy , as whit ball series coming later this year... Just keep calm and then later when time comes in Nov'24 announce capatincy as ODI goes to Shan Masood and T20 to Fakhar Zaman

As per media reports, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi, is expected to attend the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final in the West Indies. The ICC has extended invitations to all board members for the final match, which is scheduled to be held in Barbados on June 29.

I’m still in the waiting room - no bloods been taken, no prep done, when is this damn surgery gonna happen?

Nothing much is gonna happen. If people are expecting that Naqvi is gonna put this team upside down then you are mistaken. The most he is going to do is remove few players like Iffi, azam, shdab etc, Nothing else.

I think babar is gonna stay along with wahab riaz.

what actually he meant is this "Major Surgery is needed for the fans to accept the failures and cheer for the team whenever they win and don't expect much from them"

Heard Babar will be captain in CT25 and Wahab will stay means Shadab, Ift, Rauf will continue. First round exit. This Naqvi is even worse than Zaka.

Do you really believe that? This Naqvi and Babar, Rizwan have great potential to be actors. They are just playing according to the script.

On the contrary, I’ll say announce the captain now and come down with iron fist. Let the players know he’s the captain and he’s here to stay. No need to wait three months and then destroy the dressing room environment.

Shaheen Shah Afridi still thinks that surgery is not needed

His body language gives away. He is least bothered or upset about the team doing badly in the WC. Absolutely no smoke without fire that Shaheen and his group were not interested or committed to this WC. The bulk of the complaints in the reports by Wahab, Kirsten and Manager are against him.

Personally I think all this disunity etc is just nonsense. I didn’t really see any evidence for underperformance. We are a weak and poor team that played poorly.

All of these reports are just a smokescreen to dupe people in to thinking “hey everything is fine, we just need to have some unity and we’ll be great again”.

It’s narrative being built by the PCB to cover for the proud moment we lost to a bunch of amateur cricketers.

Former Pakistan Captain Shahid Afridi while interacting with local media said:

"I am also waiting to see what kind of surgery will be done. It's important to make positive decisions. The surgery shouldn't be superficial; it needs to address the root cause of the problem, which lies in our grassroots level cricket. Many cricketers have always mentioned that our product comes from the grassroots level. If we invest there, good players will emerge. The real surgery needs to happen within the grassroots level."

"There is talent; it just needs a bit of grooming. Cricket has changed now, and you have to develop your skills. We need coaches who can change the mindset at the grassroots level. Why do players start learning everything only when they join the Pakistan team? These things should be taught at the Under-19 level, including what coaching should be, what to eat, and how to train. The Pakistan team is a place for performance."

"I am always available for Pakistan cricket, but at the grassroots level, there is no need for me with the Pakistan team. Whatever is needed is at the grassroots level."

The patient is already dead.

Time to fix the hospital so that new patients dont die.

And please bury the dead ones so that their smell doesnt get transferred to people who are still alive.

Thank you very much.

Almost more than 20 days passed, what surgery done by PCB Chairman? haven’t heard anything on this… After WC ouster Pakistani cricketers looks reluctant to resign from the team.

Pakistan fans and media looks peaceful as compared to Indians. Pakistani fans should have asked PCB about their team’s performance. PCB is accountable.

Sharing one example, in India how media and peoples prompt in raising their concerns. When Mohd. Azharuddin was Indian captain and Mr.Jaywant Lele was BCCI secretary. At that time, there was one practice whenever Indian teams practising in nets, local groundsmen prepares tea in nets for players using kerosene stove. How dangerous it was for the players. That time also BCCI were making millions, they could have made such arrangements from the hotel. This story published in newspapers and lots of criticism on BCCI from media and fans. After that BCCI abolished this practice

Mohsin Naqvi will summon a PCB Governing Council meeting in the first week of July where the captain, coach, management will present their reports and explain themselves. He will later on hold one to one meetings with every member of the team to get their feedback on the team's performance and give them an opportunity to explain themselves.

No matter how drastic emotionally charged up the situation is, in the corporate world you do things professionally and by the book following due process.

I don't think Pakistan fans(apart from the ones on this forum) are as passionate about cricket as compared to India. In India it is followed like another religion.

Pakistan players are back on social media. Posting their reels about fitness workout etc. Looks like PR teams are in action to calm things down.

SUrgery is needed but no selective surgery but surgery on the whole body. Selective surgery means nothing. Naqvi sahab should start it from the top and I think he should resign himself as well.

Not much to be passionate about if the cricket team is losing to a pathetic bunch of amateurs like USA in a World Cup.

Not to mention getting smashed by New Zealand C aswell as Ireland in the first game itself and relying on dropped catches to win the second game.

Honorable mention to losses against Zimbabwe in the T20 World Cup and an ODI at home.

I don’t count Afghanistan’s mauling as an upset, as they had a decent tournament otherwise too.

Cricket will go hockey’s way soon, hardly anyone in Pakistan wants to pursue cricket as a favorable profession.

And the sad thing is - a lot of the public fall for this nonsense. Pakistan as a nation are only obsessed with nice snaps and social media. Losers. Sick of the new age pak mentality.

These videos won't matter much if you look the same with a fat belly and play for the national team. Either they make themselves fit and look fit as well, these videos are just for PR.

of course they don’t make a difference in real terms. However, the intention is to pacify the public, and it probably will because I’m sorry to say the Pakistani qaum at the moment is lost in fuzool stuff like social media, memes, taking pictures blah blah. They don’t actually care about cricket anymore. Just casuals

So now we are relying on a completely non-cricketing politician to take major cricket decisions and actions, to be followed.

This means our players are babies and our coaching and selectors are toddlers.

It's both funny and sad at the same time because it's true. The selectors haven't done their job, and the players haven't done theirs so what can you do.

Look at this decline.

It went from world class spinners > chuckers > bits and pieces throwing pies

World class batters > hacks > obesity 💀

world class pacers > match fixers > trundlers and generator

PCB neglect and corruption. They refuse to invest in their grassroots and even if they did they don't have the calibre of people to execute.

'Major Surgery' Off? Report Makes Big Claim On Changes In Pakistan Team Post T20 World Cup Disaster

The Pakistan Cricket Board might not be able bring about major changes in the national team in the wake of the side's dismal performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 as that could lead to a confrontation with senior players, according to sources. PCB's governing board, scheduled to meet here on Saturday, will take cognizance of white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten and senior team manager Wahab Riaz's reports submitted to chairman Mohsin Naqvi. But a source said, only cosmetic changes will take place and the "same set of players" would likely continue to play.

Naqvi had been quoted as saying following Pakistan's defeat to India in the World Cup that a "major surgery" was required in the team.

"The reports by Kirsten and Riaz will help the Governing Board and chairman Naqvi decide the next course of action but all indications are there Naqvi doesn't want a confrontation with senior players and he has also been advised against massive changes in the team," a source told PTI.

"There are so many outside voices and pressures from within the system that all this talk about big changes is unlikely to happen. So, basically, with a few changes, the same set of players will be in the Pakistan team for coming games as well in all formats," he added.

On whether Babar Azam would be retained as white-ball captain following the dismal T20 World Cup showing, another source said that while there is a group, including some former Test captains, which wants to see Shaheen Afridi replace Babar, if there are changes, the prime candidates for captaincy would be Shan Masood and Muhammad Rizwan.

"You could see cosmetic changes, like changes in the selection committee, and the same old story of reorganising domestic cricket to help do damage control. But the senior players remain strong," he said.

Kirsten's report is said to contain the same observations he made during his interaction with the players in the dressing room after the match against Ireland in the Group stage.

Kirsten had warned senior pros in the side following the team's loss to the USA and India to adapt to new skill-sets and improve their game awareness or get left behind. Wahab, on the other hand, outlined personality clashes in the side during the World Cup.

Don’t mind it.

Keep on going until there is nothing left

Looks like Naqvi is a paper tiger. Supposed to be the most powerful man in the country but is succumbing to pressure from some fat cricketers.

If Naqvi who has the COAS backing cannot do anything against these players then unfortunately no one can.

Kirsten might as well resign and go back, he will not be able to make any difference as the players and the forces behind them are too strong.

InshaAllah Fakhar Zaman as the best white ball captain of Pakistan!

I think Babar and his boys are to be blamed. During the Sarfaraz era, Pakistan fans here were very passionate about their team and losses would hurt them. Presently I do not see the same level of passion. A significant number of fans don't seem hopeful about the team's prospects. And then there are Babar fans who are determined to prove that Pakistan's cricket has always been mediocre.

He is also out of form... not the right time to give them this big responsibility.. it will further effect his game.

What’s the point then? Who’s in form? What kind of form do you want? Rizwan’s 50* off 50 balls against Canada form?

better to go with any youngster and give him confidence as BCCI did with dhoni back in 2007... like naseem shah is a perfect guy to lead the white ball side.

Naseem Shah won’t be able to keep himself fit for all games. If you want to see what he’s all about, at least give him leadership in domestic first

Normally you are just obsessed with couple of players, but this suggestion is very good.

Fakhar Zaman must grow up now and take some responsibility -- I personally see only him leading the team now (white ball).

He should be opening as well -- with Abdullah Shafiq in ODi & Rizwan in T20.

As per media reports, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to meet former Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed at Lahore Headquarters tomorrow

I can easily see Naqvi rewarding Babar for Pakistan’s 1st round exit in the T20 by making him all format captain again IMG_5006-removebg-preview.png_page-0001.jpg

Poster Mamoon used to constantly say that PAK is the least talented nation.

When you have no talent in batting , pace or spin, this is the situation.

Maybe not surgery but PAK needs immigration to improve talent.

PCB chairman holds important meeting with national men's team coaching staff

Lahore, July 9 2024: Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, convened a significant meeting today with the coaching staff of the Pakistan men's cricket team. Present at the meeting were white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten, red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie, and assistant coach Azhar Mahmood.

Discussions during the meeting centred around strategising for improvements in batting, bowling and fielding, with a decision to devise comprehensive plans in these areas. It was agreed that selection would be contingent upon meeting the fitness standards.

Addressing concerns about team composition, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi acknowledged the presence of talent but highlighted the need for optimal combinations. He expressed full confidence in the coaching staff's abilities and assured them of complete support in player development and coaching matters.

The meeting also saw insights shared by the coaches aimed at enhancing team performance through structured plans, which received unanimous approval from the PCB Chairman. Director International PCB, Usman Wahla, also attended the meeting.

Shahid Afridi speaking during the Pakistan Champions vs South Africa Champions post-match interview:

"I have captained for Pakistan as well and with me, Misbah and Younis did it too. The time given to Babar is unprecedented. Normally here after every World Cup, the captain is the first one to be sacrificed. So I think Babar got a lot of time, now do whatever surgery there is to be done at once, and bring whoever you want but give the full chance."

"I just got to know that only Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq have been sidelined from the selection committee. I don't understand this surgery. There were 6-7 members of the selection committee, why were only these two sidelined?"
