[VIDEOS] "After the extremely poor performance against India, it is clear that a major surgery is necessary": Mohsin Naqvi

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will preside over and participate in the meeting which is expected to take place on September 22.

Red and white-ball head coaches Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten will also be in attendance, along with the heads of international, domestic, and high-performance departments, senior cricketers, coaches, and senior PCB officials.

Future decisions will be made based on the suggestions that emerge from the connection camp.
Who are the senior cricketers which will be in attendance..and why? Should let the coaches give their input freely without any senior cricketers in attendance

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is spearheading an initiative to integrate experienced cricketers into key roles, aiming to revitalize Pakistan's national team.

Former captain Azhar Ali, Aqib Javed, and Mushtaq Ahmed are set to take on significant responsibilities within the PCB. Initial consultations have taken place to discuss potential roles and contributions.

Aqib Javed, known for his grassroots development expertise, may leverage his experience to foster talent within the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and National Cricket Academy (NCA). His previous stints with the NCA and Sri Lankan team have yielded success.

Azhar Ali may focus on youth development, similar to Indian coach Rahul Dravid's role, nurturing emerging cricketing talent in Pakistan.

Mushtaq Ahmed's expertise will be sought for training new spin bowlers and revitalizing the academy's operations.

The PCB has also advertised for a Director of Youth Development, emphasizing their commitment to fostering the next generation of cricketers.

These appointments aim to tap into the wealth of experience from former cricketers, steering Pakistan's national team towards success.

He doesn't have a clue what to do. Probably doing whatever his yes mens on the side are saying him to do.

Yeah he should set up a PJL instead
We badly need PJL for every format not just T20 and make it somehow commercially viable and pay the youth cricketers handsome money as this is the only way to produce talented cricketers as currently the talented youth is doing everything in their powers to move abroad from Pakistan and if they see money opportunity in cricket they might just think about it.

They can arrange an agreement from other boards from SENA that they send their youth players to play youth tournament and get trained in Pakistan and get used to subcontinent pitches and pay PCB handsome money for the services , it will be a win win situation for every one.

Well after the champions cup it is clear that Pak best players are more or less in the playing XI for every format and they are just not good enough to compete at International level, Now it's time to select U19 players in the national side and groom them to be competitive , this way PCB can save themselves from further embarrassment by saying they have a very young team and it will take time to develop.

These should be the group of players which should get played for the next 2 years in all formats.

Huraira
Haseebullah
Azan Awais
Saad Baig
Maaz Khan
Rizwan Mehmood
Shamyl Khan
Arafat Minhas
Mubasir Khan
Jahandad Khan
Ali Raza
Ubaid Shah
Faisal Akram
Sufyan Muqeem
Mehran Mumtaz
Sirajuddin
M.Hasnain
Usman Tariq

Even if most of them gets flop some will definitely become stars in coming years.

Yeah those 140+ pacers need to play the test match

Thief Naqvi/Naqli should ask ICC to revoke paks cricketing licence for 10/15 years..
No bowlers no batsman no pitches.

SA had a 20 year ban worked on there domestic & came back strong.

Let Shaheen , Naseem , Babar and Rizwan fight for their place back in the national side and in the mean time let groom these youngsters.

Doing do anything

Keep this lot going. Even a broken clock is right twice a day

No players being changed, but we have had maybe 1000 changes to the selection committee

Aqib Javed and Azhar Ali expected to be the new selection committee….and apparently Aleem Dar also to be added.

Players will probably still be the same I guess

No more postponment of the major surgery.

Time to unleash Rizwan's wrath on the cricketing world as the all format captain.
:rizthumbsup

Is there any FC left in Pakistan of note or the serious red ball players ply their trade in County and lower leagues only?

It's about time we see some changes , this is utter humiliation after humiliation.
Are you sure it’s about time? Champions Trophy is in a few months…then T20 World Cup will be around the corner in 2 years…

We can’t afford to change our core of Babar, Rizwan and Shaheen.

We can change other 8 players right? Even Shaheen needs a long rest.

Changing the entire team will result in consistent losses against minnows but atleast the newer players will put their heart and soul in to the game and they just might become better in future.

This naqvi guy is the part of real problem. An establishment tout awarded a Pcb post for his election scams

Does Naqvi has the data now? the data has been recorded in history book of humiliation , So what's now? How many changes we are expecting in the 2nd test?

My friend @mominsaigol rightly pointed out Rizwan’s failures in the Champions Cup, but you all brushed him aside saying Rizwan is a proven performer in international cricket.

What kind of Data are you expecting from this lot? They only look at what they want to suit them.

I am utterly disappointed in Naqvi now , he shouldn't have kept the same team after BD humiliation as this is just basic level of common sense.

Wasim Akram righly pointed out that they keep changing the coaches and selection committee but still keeping the same group of players , even if the next batch is crap it's about time now they are given a chance to show their crapiness.

The most disturbing thing is that the same group of players keep unleashing carnage against even poorer domestic players when they play in domestic tournaments. Are we going to compete with the associate nations in the coming years?

Can you prove this claim? This wasn’t the case at all during the Champion’s cup.

Who did Babar and Rizwan unleash carnage against?

Chacha is unleashing carnage in president cup as we speak. Babar did so in champions cup , Rizwan is not in good form yes.

What carnage did Babar unleash? He scored a run a ball scores batting first on similar decks to Multan.

The only guy unleashing carnage in the champion’s cup was Usman Khan. Unleashing carnage means that the batter knows the track isn’t going to get him out, and they will give hell for leather to the ball. No one did that. Usman Khan again smashed 200* off 130 balls in the Presidents cup.

Usman is definitely our best limited overs player in domestic cricket , but does he have what it takes to become international level batter?

After a dismal innings and a 47-run defeat, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must awaken to reality. The consequences of false promises and mismanagement have been exposed in Pakistan's humiliating loss. The misguided emphasis on 'storming talent' from the Shoaib Cup has incrementally dismantled Pakistan cricket.

The omission of Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Ali from the team against England, despite their impressive performances, exemplifies the exploitation of domestic players. It's crucial to halt the neglect of genuine domestic talent and hold accountable those responsible for Pakistan cricket's downfall.

As per media reports:

PCB Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has convened an emergency meeting with the national team's mentors and selectors on October 13 to address Pakistan's recent cricket woes.

The gathering aims to formulate a comprehensive strategic plan for the team's future and establish key policies to rectify the current shortcomings.

Just resign no one can do worse than this.

Mohsin Naqvi while addressing the press conference today:

"As for the issue of surgery, all I could do was advise, which I was doing continuously. I don’t want to get into the details. I believe that after the Champions One Day Cup, the players were available, and making a decision at that time would have been easier. If I had acted immediately without any data, it could have been damaging."

"Just because I mentioned surgery doesn’t mean I’d immediately proceed with it in the next hour. I was in favor of resting the underperforming players and letting young talent play. However, I can’t tell you the full story of what was happening with injured players, but hopefully, things will improve for them in the days to come. We need to focus more on the domestic level and our pool of 200-400 cricketers."

People may not like him political reasons

But I rate him as a PCB chairman, didn't make any haste decisions after the Worldcup. Waited patiently for the right time to do the surgery

Salute to you Dr. Mohsin naqvi

'No surgery or drips': Azma Bokhari criticises PCB chairman after Pakistan's CT defeat

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari criticised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for the national team's dismal performance in the opening match of the 2025 Champions Trophy, stating that despite promises of “surgery” and “drips” to fix the team’s issues, no meaningful changes were made, leaving the result deeply disappointing.

Bukhari conveyed her best wishes to the Pakistan team ahead of the highly anticipated Pakistan-India match. She expressed that the team would need more than just hope, relying heavily on prayers for success, and joked that she would even blow a prayer to ensure their victory.

Bukhari also expressed regret over Fakhar Zaman’s absence from the tournament, stating that she had high hopes for him. "If Fakhar was playing, he could have won the match single-handedly," she said.

She further mentioned the promising performance of Saim Ayub, who was unfortunately sidelined due to injury. Bukhari pinned her hopes on fast bowler Naseem Shah for the upcoming matches.

Commenting on internal team politics and the race for the captaincy, she pointed out that these issues have contributed to the team's current struggles. "Babar was once the king of cricket, but now it seems he doesn't know whether he's playing Test or ODI cricket. He appears unsure of his role, and people feared Shaheen's swinging deliveries. But now, the situation has changed," she remarked.

Bukhari also criticised the players for focusing on endorsements, stating, "Just before every tournament, they flood the media with ads. The effort they put into these advertisements, if directed towards match practice, might have led to better performances."

In her criticism of the PCB chairman, Bukhari referred to the national team's performance in the Champions Trophy opener against New Zealand, noting that despite PCB's promises for improvements after a disastrous World Cup performance, no significant changes had been made.

She added that after Pakistan’s dismal defeat against the USA and their first-round exit from last year’s T20 World Cup, the PCB Chairman announced plans for "surgery" within the team. However, no surgeries or "drips" were administered, and the team remains unchanged.

Despite this, the provincial minster emphasised that now is not the right time to discuss such matters, as the tournament has already started and the team has been announced. Therefore, we have no choice but to support this team.

New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 60 runs in the Champions Trophy opener, leaving the national team struggling yet again in an ICC event. As a result, Pakistan finds itself in the familiar "ifs and buts" situation after the first match of another international tournament.

Pakistan's next match is against arch-rivals India on Sunday in Dubai. The Pakistan cricket team has already arrived in Dubai in preparation for the crucial encounter.

When you have a poor domestic scene, who do you bring that is going make any difference. IK tried to improve the domestic setup but these idiots went back to awful system that is outdated and unprofessional. In which other Fc competition do you see the likes Moeez Ghani Play and captain.

Imran Khan destroyed Pakistan’s FC structure. It was unanimously derided by every single player. What are you on about?

Mindset change karo, player nahi.
Zehniyat badlo
Mohsin missed a big opportunity to do the actual surgery. We only saw a glimpse in the english test series when Babar, Shaheen were dropped but not sure what happened behind the scenes because after that everything pretty much has been on a gradual reverse gear culminating in selection of Faheem parchi in CT squad

Make me the PCB head bro.
I will change everything in my 1 month tenure before Big Immy comes back from jail.

Really? What was this FC structure? The players were unhappy because they lost cushy jobs, not because the cricket was a poorer quality. For the 1st time the fans took an interest in the games and look at the standard now. Ghani glass playing the HEC 🤣🤣🤣🤣

After Australia were battered in a home Ashes series, CA commissioned two experts to conduct an independent governance review. Within a few years, they took back the Ashes and were World Champions again.

After decades of mediocrity, New Zealand embarked on wholesale governance reform in 2013 and within a few years were competing in World Cups finals, and eventually became World Test Champions.

Over the years dictators have come and gone, wars have started and finished - but there's one shameless cricket board who lord over one of the very few things that unite Pakistanis and the diaspora, that steadfastly refuses to change while the results get worse and worse.

I don't care if it's PPP jokers or PTI jokers or PMLN jokers - the PCB should be dissolved and replaced by a new entity divorced from politics. It's no coincidence the best teams are also the best run off the pitch, while the struggling nations are run by joker boards.

The funniest thing for me is when Pakistanis casually mention that sports and politics should not mix when it comes to India taking political positions against us. It's as if all of those who make such statements undergo a collective lobotomy and forget that the entire PCB government structure is 100% political, and the PCB head is a direct appointee of the dummy Prime Minister (whichever clown is running the circus in Pakistan at that time).

I do have a massive soft spot for IK (even his political avatar), but for me, it's obvious that PTI as a party or an institution is a failure and hasn't been able to bring politics to Pakistan's middle class or enact structural reforms. However, this isn't a political discussion, so I'll save that for another day. The PCB needs to be depoliticized, just like another elephant in the room institution, and must be built from the ground up with talent production at its heart.

This running aimlessly from pillar to post approach & showing anger at players or sending them to training camps with fancy names like PCB strike force initiative, Kakul fitness revamp, etc. is useless. Fix the problems at the grassroot level, it's not that complicated of an issue.
