[VIDEOS] Nitish Kumar Reddy : Performance watch

Gets the crucial wicket of Mitch Marsh. Maiden test wicket

Youngest Indian pacers to take a wicket in Australia

19 years, 46 days - Irfan Pathan
19 years, 136 days - Ishant Sharma
21 years, 180 days - Nitish Kumar Reddy

Hope this guy makes people forget the primadonna Hardik Pandya in the near future

What to expect from his bowling. Hardik isn’t anything special btw with the ball in T20s. Our most hittable bowler

Brilliant debut by the youngster. Showed real character by top scoring in the first innings and contributing even in the second. Cannot understand why Sundar was asked to bat ahead of him in the second innings, and why the declaration was done when he was just 12 runs away from his 50.
I hope the management treats him well and not kill his motivation the way they did to Vihari.

Very impressive cricketer

Harshit Rana is another impressive cricketer considering he has a FC batting average of 42+

Nitish Reddy said "My father left his job for me - there has been lots of sacrifice in my journey - one day I saw him crying due to financial problems he had, then I did all the hardwork - as a middle class family son, I am so proud that my father is so happy & I gave my first Jersey to my dad . nitish Reddy retained by SRH (6 cr)

What a talent.

Pandya tu giya ODIs say
Actually, both will feature in Limited Overs Cricket. You need as many all rounders as you can in that format.

Reddy is a genuine talent. He is very young. Batting is still his stronger suit. He will only improve his bowling skills by playing IPL with world class players.

Why select him? Ordinary FC record. Doesn't go with Indian standard

Nitish is having a good game with the Bat especially. He is more of a batting all-roudner IMO.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has strongly opposed the idea of benching Nitish Kumar Reddy for the 4th Test against Australia while speaking to a local Indian sports media outlet:

“They can’t drop Nitish Kumar Reddy. He is the fourth seamer. I can’t see India going in with just two pacers and Nitish. For me, it is pretty much this XI that plays in Melbourne."

“Unlikely that Harshit will replace Akash Deep. Why would you drop a man who has saved your team from follow-on?"

He’s been the batter of the series for Bharat. Every inning he’s played with a lot of confidence. Well done bro. Proud of you.

Fantastic inning from this guy. What a hundred under pressure against Australia. probably saved his team from a big defeat.

What amazing scenes at the MCG. 21 year old Nitish Reddy hits his maiden test century with his father sitting in the front row. Terrific stuff. Happy for Reddy family. Here’s to a bright future for this lad.

Youngest at the time of maiden Test century for India in Australia
18y 256d Sachin Tendulkar Sydney 1992
21y 92d Rishabh Pant Sydney 2019
21y 216d Nitish Reddy Melbourne 2024
22y 46d Dattu Phadkar Adelaide 1948

Sacrificed his job.
Retired 25 years early.
Gave his full attention to Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Took him to training and gave all the facilities he could despite financial conditions.

THIS IS HOW A PROUD FATHER LOOKS LIKE WHEN HIS DREAMS TURNS INTO A REALITY..

Indian fathers have become obsessed with their kids’s sport achievements.

From Washington to Gill, to Arshdeep seems like dads are putting the entire family on hold, not sure how healthy this is but sporty achievements have unfortunately always come through sacrifice.

Nothing is more important in life than the children of your family.

India desperately needed a player like him. A proper batter who could bat in top 6 and bowl some overs of medium pace. He is young so he can work on his bowling a bit with time but Indian team would feel blessed with two quality potential all rounders in form of Sundar and Nitish Reddy who have a long career left in them.

Nitish Reddy, Pant, Jadeja and Sundar make a solid 5-8 in my opinion.

Great to see Sir Ian Botham also out there

This is why I've admired the Aussies since I was a teen. No one is as sporting as them. Botham with tears shows the love he has for the game.

Sad to say, we don't have a single Indian commentator who is as genuinely sporting as any of these guys. The closest is probably Shastri.

That's all for show. They are not sporting lmao

We have our sepoys like harsha barsha sanju etc

Has keeeng kohli ever played such a knock like nkr? Away from home when series is on the line???

@mominsaigol

They say kohli is king? Is he really? He is not even above laxman.
1st eng test 18
3rd eng test 18
2nd sa test 18
2nd aus test 18
1st sa test 13
1st aus test 14

he is poor now but to deny he was world class at his peak is disingenuous.

he has the 11th highest peak by any batsmen in tests, highest indian, second highest asian after sanga.

But we lost all these tests dint we? Except maybe the SA one which may have been a draw in 2013.

And this out of 50 60 odd tests away from home. That's pathetic.

That's on the other players.

Trent Bridge 2018 India won. Wanderers 2013 was draw.

NKR's innings has not yet won the match yet.

Also, question was when did he play those innings when series was on line and those are the examples.

Not whether the match was won/lost.

Technically the Perth century this series is a match winning SENA century but that was hardly a good century is it?

Thing is SENA centuries in wins are rare.

Smith has 1 match winning century in Asia and Asian sides bar India have been poor during his career.

He's hung on past his retirement and has been poor in tests for a while but dude was still a beast in his peak.

When he came on to bat In Perth, score was already going to be out of reach for aus. They got wrecked. Any half decent batter would have piled runs there.

He is like the master of soft runs. There is never any impact when he scores away from home.

That's the point. You can have a useless match winning century.

"Match winning" century is different from "century when series is on the line".

Kohli has plenty of those. Doesn't change even if Ind didn't win. Just like India hasn't won yet. If India doesn't win, will NKR's century be nothing?

Ravi Shastri said during the broadcast of Day 3 of the 4th Test between Australia and India:

"I feel that the way he's batted, this is the last time he will bat at 7. To get the balance of the side, you need him to go higher up the order, either 5 or 6 and then you have the opportunity of playing 5 bowlers to take the 20 wickets, and he's given that kind of confidence to the selectors and the team management and the captain."

"Reddy is fully capable of batting in the top 6. Then it changes the whole balance of the game. You go to Sydney with him batting in the top 6, and you're playing five bowlers.”

Coming in at 191/6, Nitish not only prevented the follow-on but also built a crucial partnership with Washington Sundar. Despite losing quick wickets after Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah's dismissals, Mohammed Siraj's resistance allowed Nitish to reach his century on Day 3 of 4th Test against Australia, making him the third youngest Indian to score a Test hundred in Australia, after Sachin Tendulkar and Rishabh Pant.

Post-Day 3, Nitish thanked Siraj on X, echoing Siraj's famous praise of Jasprit Bumrah with the caption, "I also believe in Siraj bhai."

What an innings by Nitish Reddy!

Unlike that strokeless wonder Vihari from Andhra, this guy seems to be the real deal.

Bye bye Thakur!

What an epic and senseless sook from that guy over her daughter missing an award which anyways are not genuine!

Too much greed.
She’s been adequately rewarded for her performance yet such nasty behaviour from father daughter duo. Such cringe people.

As per the stat he had the least false shots among all Indian batsmen. How about that for someone who averages 21 in domestic first class

I agree.

There 1 more athlete from Maharashtra IIRC, the one who won bronze in last Olympics. His father too had an almighty sook over a flat to be given to his soon.

So cringe and unnecessary.

I guess cricketing parents are far more humble and non sooks unless they are Yograj Singh.

A century in Australia. He now joins Yasir Shah as the guys with a century in Australia

I think Vihari should have been given more chances. He still has a FC average of 50+ and has a great technique. Don't know why he wasn't given as many opportunities as some others.
But agreed that Nitish is at quite another level.

Thank God, Indian team management persevered with Reddy in this test. Likes of Manjrekar were quite livid with Indian team management for dropping Gill and keep playing Reddy.

Always satisfying to see egg on Manjrekar's face.

yep, Shah did it when the match was done and dusted along with the series (and an opposition batter made 300+ score in the same match). Reddy did it not only to save the match but the series.

Not really. You’re implying he’s on the same level as Yasir Shah which I think is in bad taste. The century he made in the context of the game is one of the best knocks I have ever seen. He is more talented than all Pakistani batsmen combined.

The former chief selector MSK Prasad had described Nitish Reddy's selection as 'confusing'. He ate his words LOL.
Always good to see determined people proving others wrong.

What strikes me about this kid is his technique, rock solid and elegant at the crease. Seems to have an all weather technique which can help him right the ship during bad form, similar to SRT...

Richards too, Dravid too i can keep going on lol you can be stuck with Yasir shah who averages twice in AUstralia with ball than Nitish Reddy. lol

Oh man, looks like i hit a nerve.

There is this hypothetical club that exists that people mention when you join it. For example, when someone scores a 200, people often joke you have joined the 200 club with Gillespi as he also scored a 200.

Similarly Reddy has joined Yasir Shah amongst the batsman to have scored a 100 in Australia.

But alas, your blind nationalism couldn’t handle the nuance and went straight into overdrive. Chill, it’s just cricket banter, not a referendum on national pride.
