[VIDEOS] Pakistan players in Big Bash League 2025/26: Performance Watch

This Big Bash league has exposed the reality that Pakistans best players are at best Category C, D players in other countries. The PCB decision to strip Babar, Rizwan and Shaheen of their A category contracts was 100% justified.

Precisely and no source required for that!

Australia is on another level.

Their Category B and Category C players would be superstars in most countries.

Haris rauf has been brilliant. He is the joint highest wicket taker in the tournament.
He has lost a bit of pace though.

He only bowls at 145 ks nowadays. He even has touched 154 ks in BBL.
Haris rauf can be selected for world t20 but he won't be of much use in srilanka.

He would be of use, for the opposition i.e

hoping he won't turn into a run machine in WC

Might be. I don't think Yasir Arafat and Rana played more than a couple of seasons. Those are the only other Pakistani players who fared well in the BBL

The pace decline is very obvious but he has managed to provide decent returns. Max dropped a catch of his bowling today which would have made him the clear leading wicket taker in BBL.

He's got close to 19/20 BBL wicket tally but the average and economy has been a bit worse. Maybe he has one more good BBL in his legs.

Those raving on Rauf should know that he is very capable of making us lose games single handedly.

The most recent example is Asia cup match against India, and before that the match against USA in wt20. There are many examples of batters absolutely smashing Haris Rauf and derailing the whole match for Pakistan.

We simply cannot keep on giving him chances.

Australia suits him, but even there he got smashed by Kohli in Melbourne.

I dont know what to say. We cant keep giving him chances to destroy our chances.

im guessing that @BouncerGuy was probably an Azhar Ali fan as well back in the day. :afridi

He's a Misbah fan, which is even worse. What's even more shameless is the fact that he was trying to pretend that he hadn't heard of Misbah even though I caught him drawing comparisons of Misbah with Federer in a tennis thread :ROFLMAO:

What is there to feel disrespected?

Was he planning on hitting 5 sixes?

If his team genuinely care about him they need to tell him to nip this overreaction and drama in th bud.

He is looking exceptionally dumb.

Kamran Akmal speaking during a program on YouTube:

“Whatever it is, Babar is a player, right? Whether you take the single or not, first let’s talk about whether you should take that single or not. In my view, speaking as a player, I see this as disrespect. Babar Azam is an opener, a class player, not a tail-ender. He came to play with Smith, who wasn’t taking the single.”

“I’m not denying Smith credit for winning the match. His approach is remarkable—that he plays Test cricket, then comes to the Big Bash and knocks a hundred. He’s experienced, a great player, and I myself am a huge fan. But I’m speaking with a cricketing mindset here. Your opener is Pakistan’s number one player, a world-class batter. He has a huge fan following, maybe not as many as Virat Kohli, but you can say at least 50% as much. He’s shown it through his performances.”

“If it’s the 19th or 20th over, then maybe you can say so. But not like this. Even if he’s played four dot balls, or three dot balls, or even if it’s the powerplay—this, in my eyes, is disrespect. It shouldn’t have happened.”

“I didn’t say he wasn’t thinking about winning. The Australian mindset never gives up, and they never think of losing. I’ve played against them for 14–15 years, I know. “

“If Sydney Sixers aren’t satisfied with Babar, then better they drop him. Team comes first, always. If it’s not good for the team, then rest him. But doing this, in my opinion, is disrespectful. In my view, if it were any other top player in Babar’s place, I would say the same thing.”

Basit Ali's response:

“Smith responded in the next over after refusing that single. felt like he was going to hit six sixes in six balls. They scored 59 runs in five overs. The match was basically won right there. They utilized it immediately, knowing they were set, and they took advantage of that power surge. The team benefited from it.”

The fact that we still talk about disrespect, optics and impact on player ego in subcontinent whereas other countries teams look to maximize win possibility and specific player roles tells a lot more about subcontinent cricket mentality than anything else.

Zimbabar has been shown his real place by Steve Smith.
Zimbabar should have some shame and try not to be so selfish all the time.
People are making fun of him.

Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers, 40th Match

Babar Azam will be in action later on... His team is batting first

Zaman Khan will be in action for Heat as well

Kamran is such a numpty.

Even if Smith had a 5 run and not a 32 run over, there is nothing to do with "disrespect" here.

Usman khawaja should be picked up by a PSL team.
He is a very good t20 player he has better strike rate than zimbo and Babar and many other Pakistan players.

Another lesson for Babar..

The top order batter (McSweeney) intentionally giving the number 8 (Neser) the strike with a single first ball in the 2nd over of the Surge. He knows the guy is striking it brilliantly so give him the strike even though it’s a bowling all rounder!

This is called doing what’s best for the team!

Feels like the league has went up a notch when the test specialists came back.

Neser is a good bowler. Will be hard for Babar here.

Haha zimbo has been made look like a fool yet again.
Lol great player 1 off 7 balls.
Kick zimbo out of every Pakistani squad.
He has embarrassed Pakistan cricket badly.

LOL..... Babar after doing every drama in last game, now fails badly... This is embarrassing for a player like him...

If Sixers win this, will Babar still stay there or come back for the Pakistan series against Australia?

The Aussie players playing the finals are staying there

Babar secretly hoping they just get knocked out tonight

Will have the perfect excuse to just go home and statpad in Lahore

Agreed

If you are pushing the narrative of spin wickets player, then you might as well take Saud Shaqeel or Kamran Ghulam for that role.

Or go hard with Hassan Nawaz
Spin or no spin, this guy cannot play T20s.

In fact, Australia is the most likely place he would’ve scored runs due to the pace he would get there - we all saw how that panned out.

Will be a massive failure in SL

At this point it’s like beating a dead decomposed horse.

If he has loved ones who want the best for him, they need to be honest with him. He needs to be honest with himself. Step away and reassess.

Theoretically He could still serve Pakistan in test cricket, but not not this version, with his confidence and form detonated to smithereens.

The only format where he looked like he might achieve greatness was in the ODI format as a #3.

I heard Bazid yesterday speak a lot of sense.

He suggested that Babar should take himself out off the T20 player race like Root has done. Focus on ODI and Test Cricket. He started struggling in those longer formats after he started falling off in T20 and troubles with his SR.

It is fine to leave a format for a while and concentrate on your best formats for the better half of your career. He can always try to make a comeback later or after his retirement like Smith worked on his power game.

Sometimes when you are trying chase too hard that one thing, it can go further away from you.
