Congratulations to Arshad Nadeem and Pakistan. The boy looked the strongest and threw the farthest. Watched the whole thing and this was a bolt from the heavens. Neeraj did his best and congrats to him and India too for the silver medal. Indians enjoyed the sweet gold 4 years ago.and it's now time for Pak.fans to.savor it.

India won 2007 WC, Pakistan win 2009
India won Olympic gold in 2021, Pakistan won 2024.

This means Pakistan win the next t20 WC 😁

Has to be the greatest sporting achievement in Pakistan history. Nothing could come close. Athletics is the true original form of sports and winning a gold in athletics dream of every athlete.

Every time I see Olympic athletics, I am cursing myself why didn't I continue with 10 k running.

Oh man, in Pakistan the broadcasting was terrible, we could only tune in to the 2nd throw. The moment Arshad threw that throw, I jumpedddd. I was like, what the hell, this guy just broke the 90m barrier on the first throw. The gold medalist couldn't even do that last time.
Than i learned the guy has made an OLYMPIC RECORD.

I knew it we had gold, only problem was making sure Neeraj doesn come near. The whole 1.5 hrs were tense and was a waiting game for us Pakistanis.

Basically Arshad had placed everyone of the throwers in pressure, and had made a statement int he second round that beat that. Neeraj was clearly under pressure, and was trying to throw is all to get the gold, but the pressure got to him. He was over stepping, and man it was abit hilarious aswell. Reminded me of the Bumrah no balls.

But boy oh boy last round came in, when Neeraj messed it up, i was relieved that Arshad is getting Gold, and than guess what. Arshad shows his dominance in the final throw aswell that his first wasnt a fluke, and he crossed 90m twice in one game.

What a night we have had. This is up there with Imran Khan winning the 1992 World Cup. This has been the biggest sporting achievement for the country.

Also CT. India won 2013 and Pak won the next edition.

Only 2011 is an anamoly. Obviously 92 and 83 had 87 in between but close enough

What an achievement!! Mashallah

A proper national hero. His legacy will run forever. Pakistans 1st ever Individual Gold Medalist!!

I hope he gets rewarded immensely!!

100%. This is massive.

One of if not the biggest sporting moment for Pakistan.

Pakistan win a gold medal. WOW. Drink it in

Pakistan. The land of Phast bowlers and Javelin Throwers

One of the greatest ever achievements in the history of Javelin and just generally in all of sport when you factor the back story to and it’s more crazy when he has broken an Olympic record to, long may the celebrations continue into the night. Well done Arshad / Pakistan and Mubarak to all PPer’s, I better stop, I’m starting to sound like Rizwan

I tuned in at 7.30pm sharp and they had the 200m final on the BBC, while they were discussing the Botswana upset, there was a huge pop in the background, it wasn’t televised live but that was Arshad’s second effort. I managed to find somebody doing a stream which was a few seconds back in Pakistan on X of some bloke’s TV, and saw the throw there and then again on the BBC like 10-15 mins later, bah gawd almighty, do you believe in Miracles!

Man im glad i dint miss the throw.

The moment you see the throw land, your like is it really happening? Like i was hoping for a medal, just a bronze, but the first throw landing for an Olympic record?? Damn...

If Arshad didn’t break the record, I don’t think the BBC would have shown clips of the even soon after, it would have been pushed further back!

dont know about that.

The whole olympic has been a mess. They really dont know how to schdule or broadcast. Last time around, every event had a dedicated stream on Youtube.

There was a hockey game going on at the same time aswell.

Meanwhile, Pakistani broadcaster didnt even bother to show the last winning moments, because they wanted to show pre recorded ads with Arshad where he is thanking everyone for winning a medal. Like how pathetic you have to be as a sports channel.

Neeraj's statement was abit pathetic. Basically he was trying to remind that he has beaten him everytime and this was the only time Arshad beat him.

Bhai, he has thrown further than you even before this event. You are yet to cross 90 meters, the guy has broken the 90 meter twice in the same game in 5 shots

You see this is why advocated taking money from our prima Donna cricket setup and investing it in other sports and genuine people like arshad nadeem who will give their 100% for the nation.

Just look at the reaction of that ground lady at around, epic 😅

Congrats Nadeem. Outstanding performance. Congrats Pak fans. It is a massive massive milestone in Pakistan sports. Very down to earth person seemingly. Great achievement.

Pakistan players are enjoying Arshad Nadeem's winning moment. Surely it will boost their confidence too to achieve something big for Pakistan.

The medal ceremony for the men's javelin throw event, wherein Arshad Nadeem won a Gold medal 🏅, will take place on Friday (9 August) at 10 pm (PST)

Incredible. This is HIS success and only HIS. This isn’t about Pakistan Zindabad, this is about Arshad Nadeem and his family believing they could achieve what almost no one imagined. A GOLD in olympics.

We should embrace this, cherish this forever, he should receive HIGH level awards, there should be a film on him, give him a podcast platform to share his life with us, give him funds, sponsorships, academy and training facilities. He deserves it, sadly he deserved most of it long time ago.

I was watching this event for Neeraj Chopra to win a Gold as our last gold medal hope, but what transpired is something I'll never forget. I knew Nadeem is good and might sneak in a bronze but what he ended up doing is inspirational for the entire world.

Congratulations Arshad Nadeem, two monster throws, shattered Olympic records, very happy for him. Well deserved young man, you have created history for your country.. Be very proud.

Congrats to him. Hopefully, the nation can move past this obsession with cricket and actually compete in a diverse range of sports. While I don't see us ever fielding a competent soccer or basketball team, there's no reason we shouldn't have a few competent tennis players, boxers and wrestlers.

Meanwhile neeraj guy is still crying and he said he has best arshad in every competition before this throw.

He should learn from his mother.

Heartiest Congratulations to all the Pakistani awaam on the historic and stunning Olympic World Record victory of the ‘ideal Pakistani’ & soon to be role model of a nation, the one and only, the generational talent , The Arshad Nadeem.

Nobody deserved it more than this gentle giant of a man.

When I first saw him at the Tokyo Olympics, my immediate thought was that how in the hell did Neeraj Chopra outperform this absolute giant of a specimen. He had OR/WR/GOAT written all over him and it proved yesterday that it was just a matter of a time. He put the pieces together , made incremental changes and reached his true potential.

He’s young still and sky is the limit for him hence I expect more world championships and another Olympic gold next time.

Until then, I wish the Pakistani awaam make the most of this, bring a sports revolution, a national revolution, it’s the moment to inspire the youth and bring them in the right track of continuous development.

Pakistan has huge potential in a lot of sports and that potential must now be allowed to reach its potential just like Arshad Nadeem’s.

The friendship that Arshad bhai formed with Neeraj Chopra will be remembered for ages. For all the bad blood between the two nations, let us never forget the culture and language that we share. We have one mother and we will always be blood brothers. I raise a toast to Arshad Nadeem’s triumph in hope it will bring massive positive changes in our relationships moving forward and in hope that it inspires Pakistan as a nation to chase excellence in every field.

With love,

Your Bhaijaan

Congratulations to Arshad Nadeem! And to Pakistanis here.

In the last couple of days, I was telling people that Arshad was going to win the gold. He missed out last time, but he is a super thrower.

This is the power of a true Pakistani the whole of Pakistan was praying for your success not only did he win gold but broke an olympic record too

Much respect and love to his family and friends who should support throughout his career. He came from a humble background and if not mistaken barely got support from governement and sports board.

He worked hard, he believed in himself, didnt make excuses, kept trying to learn and be better and in the end he became a champion.

This man deserves all the respect and love from the people of Pakistan. Heck I even want to see a movie done on his life and career.

Well done Arshad Nadeem you are a super hero for all of Pakistan

Arshad has done it without any proper training and literally No support from this government. More power to this guy for making all of us proud. This will be written in history forever and this is even bigger than winning something at cricket or whatever.

1 guy, out of nowhere, without any support, came, and conquered the world. Brilliant.

Lol this neeraj guy is still delusional and trying to avoid the reality by saying it was Arshad's day hahah.

He frigging threw 2 90 metres plus throws which has never happened before in the olympics. He broke the Olympics record.

No one has ever done it before.I m loving it so much Arshad made whole lot of them cry hahah

Yeah, He literally broke the OR 2 times. This is something you will not see in years of Olympic history. Arshad has done the unthinkable and Neeraj is still looking to beat that 90m mark for once.

The moment we as Pakistanis were waiting for. Arshad Nadeem after winning the GOLD and a landmark throw.

Just a genuine comment here,
Arshad was without training and little govt support in Tokyo and the non-medal finish showed.
Pakistan admin and his designated coaches have handled him amazingly well over the last two years, very careful management of his injuries and schedule which is absent in Pakistani cricket even.
This narrative of "without support" just propagates the culture of ignoring systemic changes needed for creating actual champions!

You've got a point, Bro.

Sure, we gotta push for the big changes to make champs, but let's not sleep on how far Arshad's come. It ain't just about the struggle; it's about giving props where they're due. Arshad's killing it, and that's the vibe we need to spread – using his wins to hype up the need for even better support, so all our athletes can make a mark at the top level. Let's keep it real and keep pushing for those upgrades.

Arshad Nadeem is a true hero for Pakistan.

Many people on twitter don't always view the twitter handles, as not everyone using the platform is educated and just spams tweets In their local language? And don't have a concept of handles and hashtags.

I guess still whatever Pak Olympic Association did to Arshad is very less to what German/ Finland/ Indian bodies must have given to their javelin athletes.

I hope Pak sports body wakes up at least now and builds a system in place. Just rewarding Nadeem will not help but opening training facilities will help else it will remain a 1 off instance of brilliance

Yes. this is my point. These guys did not even support him to buy a good javelin let alone support him throughout his career with other things.

Arshad is a self-made star.

Also saw some pakistani podcasts about wrestling, kick boxing traditional boxing stars who won junior titles saying on air that even after multiple requests, sports bodies are not releasing any funds for better training and to go pro at senior level.

If someone wins by individual brilliance, they will reward him and move on

Arshad Nadeem speaking to reporters after becoming the first Pakistani to clinch an individual Olympic gold medal

"The rivalry is there when it comes to cricket matches and other sports, definitely. But at the same time, it is a good thing for youngsters in both countries who are pursuing a sport to follow us and follow their sports icons and bring laurels to their countries."

"I am thankful to the nation. Everyone prayed for me, and I was hopeful of doing well. Over the years, I got a knee injury and recovered, and worked hard on my fitness. I was even confident of throwing beyond 92.97m, but that throw was enough for me to get the gold."

"I will continue to work hard and give my best in the days and months to come. I am planning to throw beyond this mark as well."

"I was a cricketer, I played table tennis, and I also participated in athletics events. But my coach told me I have got a very good physique for the javelin throw and I concentrated on javelin only from 2016."

"People think my technique is more like a fast bowler than a javelin thrower, but I am happy with this action and the run-up I use. That is because of my early strength as a cricket bowler."

"I come from a farming village, and every time I win a medal I think about my origins and that motivates me to do better. That's the reason I have remained humble and that's why I want to become more successful.”

"I had to go through very tough times to make it to this stage."

Some Indians on social media are calling for Arshad Nadeem to be dope tested. Sore Loosers.
There will always be people like that, but just ignore them. The majority of indian posters here have been professional and praised his performance and hard work.

Congrats for winning a gold but Javelin throw itself the most useless and uninteresting sports in Olympics
Lol, Your entire body is in action when throwing javelin and you need extreme physique, stamina and technique to throw it, I think it's weight is close to 1 KG. Just try it yourself and see how far you can throw. And since you talk alot about fast bowlers, Arshad was a very talented fast bowler in his youth days and he could have become very fast if he continued with that also.

A hearty congrats to the wonderful superlad! Hope he continues to bring further glory to his country.

Never had enough food

Never had a javelin at the start used a wooden stick with rope tied to it

Practiced on a village cricket field no athletic field existed

Used the same practice javelin for seven yrs that was damaged

And now olympic record holder and gold medalist

Let that sink in imagine if proper investment was given at grassroots level what pakistan could achieve in sports .

Congrats for winning a gold but Javelin throw itself the most useless and uninteresting sports in Olympics
and this is the reason why we need at least two more generations to understand and enjoy other sports. Our current batch is not good enough. Arshad Nadeem is an anomaly.

More uninteresting than rifle shooting and dressage and some swimming?
That's not what should be discussed. Everyone has their own tastes and the Olympics caters to those who perform in these weird and wonderful events. I don't watch them all but I'm 100% behind them all getting their chance once every 4 years for 2 weeks.

It's a fair discussion when someone says javelin is the most uninteresting.

Please stay on topic. Talk about games and their comparisons in some other thread.

This thread is about Arshad Nadeem.
