Amir is still the best t20 bowler in the country, and Wahab’s hitting is going to be useful due to the lack of all rounders

There’s a World Cup around the corner and 3 pacers combined have played just 1 t20i

Whereas overall experience of the pace attack is 15 matches.

Yes they didn’t do what’s best for the country, but you can’t punish them just like that.

Moreover Wahab is already 35, he can’t offer anything in tests

With the emergence of Naseem and Rauf, it appears that PCB is attempting to move on from Amir and Wahab and building the bowling attack around Shaheen, Naseem and Abbas (Tests), and Hasan will also be back soon.

I won’t say that it is the wrong decision. It quite clear that Amir is not 100% committed to playing for Pakistan. Every time he plays it feels like he is being forced and it is quite difficult to motivate him to sustain his intensity.

All in all, I don’t he is worth the trouble and Pakistan cricket is probably better off without him.

Naseem and Rauf are basically direct replacements for Amir and Wahab.

It’ll be embarrassing for Misbah, Waqar and Babar if the bowlers selected get hit all over the park and you recall both of these bowlers for the next series

If it is wasn’t embarrassing for Misbah to bring back Malik and Hafeez after stating that they weren’t part of his forward-looking strategy in October, why would this be?

Our fast bowling is pretty sorted(LOIs) it makes no difference if they are there or not.

The problem is our batting

I don't think it's correct to group Amir and Riaz's dropping as one because they were dropped for reasons. Amir I'm guessing has been dropped because of his poor attitude, Riaz simply due to mediocre performances

Amir was a tough call but when you loose last 5 completed T20 internationals in world T20 year, it requires some looking in the mirror and Amir was mediocre in those T20 internationals. Amir averaged 30 vs Srl with 3 wickets in three matches with economy of 7.67 and took one wicket vs Aus at an average of 66 and eco of 8.61.

When ur a pro athlete with zero commitment towards fitness and on top of that you smoke, results will only get worse.

Amir deserves zero sympathy. Pak cricket should move on.

So one cant try new players and different combination due to fear of embarrassment? Its international cricket, someone who doesn’t perform is shown the door and even if the next one wont perform he will be ousted as well, so whats the issue?

As per you Aussie selectors have been embarrassed number of times in the past 3,4 years when they went towards Burns as a test opener, then Renshwaw, then Bancroft, the Haris then again Bancroft then again Burns and multiple times like that between these names.

Pcb thinking theyr doing there bit for the environment keep recycling wahab Malik hafeez shehzad Akmals..

Amir is pretty ordinary and is rightfully being treated as if he is just another bowler.

Wahab, like Irfan, is finished. He should never have been called back in the first place. So 100% agree with that decision.
Wahab is not one of the 4 best T20 bowlers in Pakistan anymore, and neither is he a prospect who needs to be persisted with.

Amir is still clearly one of the best T20 bowlers in Pakistan, and definitely this decision has more to do with him quitting on the PCB, than his on field performance. Quite frankly, I'm surprised Misbah had the guts to go though with this - its not his usual ammo.

They've set a precedence. If you quit on the PCB, then the PCB has every right to invest in other player who can deliver across more formats for Pakistan. If the PCB holds strong on this for the long-term, there's no question that other players will think twice before becoming T20 specialists and 'retiring' from selected formats.

Wahab - I agree, his time is up. Ammad Butt can be the hitter and he's got variation to boot. Amir, however, his economy rate is pure gold in T20's -- 4 overs at 6-7 RPO -- unless you find a bowler who can produce that consistently, you need him

Right decision to drop both in a home series. This is the right time to test your bench strength.

Shaheen got the call back after missing out due to illness. Ahsan, Rauf and Amad butt awarded for their performances which is good. Musa a youngster retained again good.

Hafeez and Malik back is also fine as they don’t have other batsmen stepping up and using their absence to cement their spots. However these two will make their way in for their last WT20 tussle.

Fakhar, Amir, Wahab, Asif Ali are all good eye opening exclusions. Happy with overall squad

I've supported Amir over the years.

But

No more.

It's enough. He has every right to not play Tests. But, management also has the right to pick him or not. He hasn't been in the wickets column in T20s.

Wahab is a well-known spraygun and offers nothing. He should've been dropped way earlier.

Fakhar and Imam got dropped, another HUGE news.

Excellent decisions - and major kudos to Misbah. Only he could've taken a bold decision like this. I'm loving his out of the box thinking.

Would it have been right to drop or not select any of the fast bowlers who have been selected in the squad?

He will be back no worries. No Misbah decision is ever final. Once we start losing with this team he will be back.

Come on guys...dont you lot know how it all works.
If they're not in world cup squad, at least AmIr, ill eat my hat.

So what made you think someone can be dropped forever, just because they're in bad form and aren't playing Tests either?

Dropping him for now is to teach him a lesson. I don't think he can be permanently dropped.

So we will witness pumped up Amir in PSL, to be honest i am disappointed with his non selection. Amir is the best new ball bowler in our current lot :)

Misbah's reasoning of giving the other bowlers game-time makes sense but I still think Amir should have been retained. He is a good limited-overs bowler and has been performing well since the World Cup. Now that he is only playing limited-overs cricket he should be selected for the national side.

A decision taken for the greater good of Pakistan cricket. We can't afford to lose our future generations to t20 leagues.

We weren't going to win the WC anyway!

Bad decision by PCB. If they had agreed for him not to play test cricket then why punish him now. Also, he is still a good t20 bowler with heaps of experience behind him and could have been very useful in the world Cup.

Amir's tweets earlier - The first one was deleted.

Amir deserves some punishment for thinking he is bigger than the team. He needs to stop making out as though he is a victim.

You don't really need Wahab if you are selecting Haris Rauf. They are similar type of bowlers. Wahab is well over 30. Need to move on from him.

He is one of the best t20 bowler in the world.
Some fans wanted him out of the ODI world cup saying That we have Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah and X, Y, Z to replace him. He showed he was the boss in the world cup.

Another t20 world cup is coming, PCB and fans aren't learning anything.

Amir is not physically strong enough to pay all formats, it was a smart decision by him to opt out of tests and now was expected to serve Pakistan's white ball cricket for longer period, but did not fit into Misbah's strange tactics, who opted for Musa and useless and old Hafeez.

We have not seen the last of him.

I am 100% certain that he will be the part of W-T20 squad.

If the intention is to rest him that's well and good but if this is going to a permanent thing Pakistan will suffer. He is a very talented bowler who had lost his way yet remains the best limited over bowler in Pakistan and has a long way to go before retiring. If there's an issue with his attitude or if PCB feels he is not giving his 100 percent then that information should be made public.

Are we trying to win the t20 WC? If yes, then dropping either player is obviously a bad decision.

You need to make a proper bowling combination right now, not 2 games into the World T20 tournament. Unfortunately Pakistan has made that mistake in several world cups. Your #1 combination should be playing right now and both Wahab and Aamir are a part of it. Absolutely ridiculous selection from Misbah.

So what made you think someone can be dropped forever, just because they're in bad form and aren't playing Tests either?

Dropping him for now is to teach him a lesson. I don't think he can be permanently dropped.

I wanted a change from our previous mentality of making a decision and not sticking with them. It seems expecting consistency from Pakistan cricket is too much to ask for as a fan. No sense of planning nor taking care of valuable talent. Every player will remain to have fear of there spot. Fear of failure brings failure. Expect this to be the case going forward with this mentality.
