Without doubt Virendra Sehwag was an ornament to the game of cricket giving the art of batting a new dimension. It was Viru who virtually invented a new era in terms of batting strike rate taking batting domination to region sun explored. No batsmen ever scored triple centuries at such a strike rate or double hundreds and centuries. At his best Sehwag launched a blitzkreig creating shots from his very own book.He may not have been elegant or posessed sound footwork but his razor sharp reflexes and hand eye coordination virtually compensated for that. Tendulkar could never match the explosiveness of Sehwag or his penchant for registering big scores .Sehwag at hsi best could have been even more of a match-winner than Sachin like when scoring 83 in a run chase versus England in 2007-08 as well as 309 v Pakistan ,319 v South Africa , 201v Pakistan and 293 v Sri Lanka.at home .Ofcourse Sachin was technically far superior and more consistent and a better player of the moving and turning ball and abetter batsmen on bad or fast tracks.Perhaps it was touch and go with Tendulkar bating at his best and Sehwag as great bowlers feared Sehwag more than Sachin.Amazingly Sehwag averaged over 46 in Australia on fast tracks but had a comparitively low test average in England and South Africa.Still his best scores overseas indicate he may not have been a flat track bully. In many ways he wa slike a Viv Richards of his day but not in Viv's class against the moving ball or in seaming conditions, nor against lethal pace.

To me Sehwag's greatest rival for supremacy was VV.S Laxman, another batting Connoiseur and unlike Sehwag posessed majestic grace and wrist twork.Few batsmen ever could guide the ball where they wished as effortlessly as V.V.S.His strokes reesmbled a painter making curves on a board revealing unbelievable innovation and artistry.Like Sehwag he even overshadowed Sachin at his best like when scoring 281 v Australia at Kolkat a in 2001 ressurecting India from the grave as well as 3 heroic knocks in match -winning run chases where he single-handedly won India matches .In a 4th innings Laxman performed better than nay batsmen of his generation. In 200304 combing tests and ODI's V.V.S.was India's best batsmen.Facing the best attacks VVS.has a better record than Sehwag.

For sheer talent hard to seperate Tendulkar,Sehwag and Laxman and for pure class maybe a whisker does not seperate Sehwag and V,V.S.However being more impactful overall Sehwag would win my vote over Laxman as a batsmen even if they wee equally talented. For pure natural ability it may virtually be a draw between the 3.

Hardly any batsman in history had more natural talent than Tendulkar. He excelled against top quality international bowling at the age of 16.

Sehwag did have an ability to demolish attacks like no one else did during his time. Only Gilchrist came close. But he also had a lot of technical weaknesses that came alongside.

To answer your question, Tendulkar was much more naturally talented when you consider all aspects of batting. He scored Test centuries during his first tours to England, Australia (2 centuries), and South Africa. He was not even 20 by then. The only other batsman during his time who was equally talented is Brian Lara. I loved watching Ponting bat, I’m a huge fan. But I’d put him behind those 2.

Who was closest to Sehwag?VVS Laxman?Chris Gayle or Gilchrist?

Not Brian Lara or Viv Richards?I feel they had marginallly more natural talent.

Sachin at his peak was just something else. In the 90's Sachin was the best batsman followed by Steve Waugh.Post 2000, sachin regressed and in that time period, I dont think there was much difference between the two

Sachin was batting like Sehwag before his tennis injury. Then he adjusted his game after the injury. Sachin was probably more talented than Sehwag who was a freak.

What about comparison with VVS Laxman Sehwag ahead and more talented ot Laxman?

Can’t compare the two. Sehwag’s greatest strength was his ability to murder attacks while Laxman’s strength was his ability to play under pressure. Till this day I haven’t seen an Indian batsman as good as Laxman when the chips were down (Tests).

Sachin was playing innings at 16 to 19 years age which neither of the ones you named could play till they were adults

Mostly on flat pattas. But was a walking wicket whenever the ball moved.

Also Sachin was never an FTB like Sehwag. He could play all shots.

Dravid > Tendulkar in swinging conditions. Doesn't mean Dravid is more naturally talented. Nobody is born with ability to play "in swinging" conditions. especially Indians. They work hard at those skills. Natural means something you are blessed with.

Sachin never struggled when the ball moved like Sehwag even during his earlier days. And there is nothing ‘natural’ in sports. Everything comes with hours of practice.

Sehwag had no real footwork. Sachin was a classic and proper batsman. No comparison.

Without footwork playing the shots he plays is much harder. Tendulkar is a highly coached batsman. Sehwag is like Treschothik. They are more natural.

For sure. You have to be unreal to be able to smack world class express pace bowlers out of the ground with pure timing alone. His technique was average or below average, but arguably one of the best hand eye coordination in the history of the game.

Once that hand eye left him with age he faded into nothing.
