England have not picked the right players this series. Nearly everyone is out of position.
This is what their middle-order should look like:
3) Root
4) Bairstow (wk)
5) Buttler
6) Stokes
7) Moeen
Beyond this, they need to pick the best four bowlers in the country. Curran is not one of them. I'm also not totally convinced about Buttler, doesn't really look like a proper test player but he has enough credit in the bank to deserve a few more chances. However, he should be batting higher than Stokes given that he's playing as a pure batsman. Root has to bat at 3, he's their best player of swing and seam, along with being their best batsman.
Would wreck havoc on the kind of pitches SA dished out for us in the Tests. Any idea when Windies are touring South Africa?
Wicket looks green and lively.
Broad and Anderson could be a handful.
You can't keep relying on the lower order to bail you out !
Campbell trying a Dilscoop against the new ball.
No need to do anything silly, just see out this new ball spell.
Excellent end to another good day for West Indies. Openers emerge unscathed.
Hasan123 You reminded me the other other day that a certain poster on PP strongly believes that England is the best Test team in the world![]()
Absolutely hillairious that he believed that. I live in UK and they are struggling for openers ,genuine quick bowlers, and quality spinners. But they are the best test side in the world because of beating Sri Lanka.
Can't wait for 2nd test SL vs Aus. They are going to troll Vaughn in the commentary box big time.

Bairstow can't keep and bat at 4. Foakes hasn't done anything wrong with the gloves and has battled hard out there.
I agree on Buttler. Stokes has no business at 5 averaging 33.
I see that england dropped just one all rounder. They are determined to learn their lessons the hard way.
Another brilliant day for West Indies. They have been brilliant at home and their pace attack has been amazing. Are West Indies once again bringing back their golden era with bowling? You never know, only time will tell. But the signs are good though.
Key to the revival of WI, is to create these types of green wickets at home, this will encourage more kids to take up fast bowling which will hopefully bring back the next generation of Holdings, Marshalls etc...
Also don’t forget that these West Indian home Tests use the Dukes Ball.Holding and the boys played on true bounce concrete pitches, not uneven green seamers.
If WI bowlers come up on greentops they will be relying on uneven bounce and seam movement and then will not be able to cope on the Subcontinent and in Australia.

All the more reason for the likes of Anderson and Broad to have done better.
Pitch seems to have quietened down . I wonder in that case how decisive a 100 run lead would be .
West Indian players were beaten countless times yesterday. One of the good thing they did was, they did not follow the ball. THey played the line. So even if there was any movement of the surface it continued missing the bat. Extremely disciplined batting by Brathwhite. Campbell got carried away a few times. But overall he was also showing lot of restraint.
Broad is the only one who looks like getting a wicket every over.
Nobody can tell me which of the specialist bowlers available would actually improve the bowling.
He’s a monster today. This is what we have missed!
I would still like to see Woody coming on next though.
