Curran is not the bower for this pitch or anywhere outside England and NZ.
He has potential as a batting all rounder. But England already have superior version in Stokes.
England 's pathetic selection policy responsible for this horror show , going in the Test with just 2 bowlers & 1 world class all rounder who should be bowling maximum 15 overs per innings . Curran is picked for his batting ability [ 15 wickets in 9 ] & Moeen [ 167 wickets in 57 tests at s/r of 62 & avg of over 37 ] too .
Picking bowlers for their batting ability does NOT work in Tests . My bowling attack would have been Jimmy , Broad , Wood , Leach + Stokes . Play Moeen as a batsmen [ avg 30 ] if you have no better options .
Anderson with some cloud in Eng is a different bowler.
Yeah he's a bit overrated. A legend of the game but falls short of ATG status yet some think he's in the same league as Dale Steyn![]()
Bravo and Holder grinding it out on a tough wicket. Vital runs these.
Very determined effort by the Windies. At times in the recent past the Windies have shown a careless attitude towards Test cricket but the performance today was marked by an evident display of pride and firmness of purpose.

You answered that question yourself. One more hard ball bowler would have been golden.
Who though? Wood is skiddy and might not exploit the variable bounce. I don’t think he has the accuracy to keep hitting that ridge on the pitch.
Woakes is more of a banger-in and so might be handy here. Except he has a test hundred so would be classed as an allrounder not a specialist by ILcricket![]()
West indies have batted so poorly, admittedly the pitch is poor but still, englands bowling has largely looked toothless.

If there is one complaint then that would be about Team selection. Woakes might have been handy here.
But then he has a very bad record overseas. In England he averages 40 with the bat and 22 with the ball!
Moeen will get whacked, daft of Root to bring him on.
This is 130th over.
Anderson 29 overs
Broad 36 overs
Stokes 27 overs
This will come back to bite them in the 2nd innings. Those are lot of overs. Even Ali has bowled only 24.
You are welcome to your boy wonder Curran Robert who bowled 13 overs out of 111 in this innings
Broad starts proceedings .
Moeen takes 3-60 off 25 first-innings overs. Which available specialist spinner would have done better?
Innings defeat on the cards here for England?
err I thought we were discussing the full time 3rd bowler Curran & not the batting all rounder Moeen ? Curran - 13 threatening overs out of 131 overs .
Given the conditions, duke ball, Roach's form they shouldn't cross 250. But if England shows the same application as WI did, they could claw back as WI will bat the last where even Moeen will become a genuine threat.
