All eyes on gayle . He is the man of the moment. Narine would have given west indies advantage.

It will be interesting to see if they go with 3 specialist pacers or 2 specialist spinners.

NZ start favourites for me. Although any decent spinner can rip through their lineup. Narine is gonna be sorely missed.

West Indies are looking quite strong on Paper...
Roach, Boult and Southee all can move the ball on any pitch to be fair, the former is superior since he can do it at a much higher pace tho.

Jamaica is a spin haven these days. Need Rosco and Macca to turn up big time cause I don't know if Corey can handle it.

Kane is pretty good. Has struck gold in all formats recently. A handy chucker as well.

9.45am Team news, finally. Mark Craig, the offspinner, makes his debut for New Zealand, whose eleven looks like this

West Indies Team
CH Gayle, KOA Powell, KA Edwards, DM Bravo, S Chanderpaul, MN Samuels, D Ramdin*†, KAJ Roach, JE Taylor, SJ Benn, S Shillingford

New Zealand Team
PG Fulton, TWM Latham, KS Williamson, LRPL Taylor, BB McCullum*, JDS Neesham, BJ Watling†, IS Sodhi, TG Southee, MD Craig, TA Boult

West Indies look a very good team. Looks like the WICB has finally decided enough is enough and gone in with their best XI. Excited to see Jerome Taylor back. Was a very good bowler!!

Smart decision to play Benn and Shilly. Two spinners on this track will be a handful.

NZ are going to get crushed mark my words. Windies seem to have a plan and that is spin.

I do not understand why fluton keeps getting so many chances. he is very limited batsman.

fulton looked like farhat when he got out. cement feet blocked to the floor. Dont NZ have anyone better?

Fulton is useless. They dropped the wrong guy. Fulton is living off his two ton test a year ago.

No kidding. after those two hundreds against england he has avg 18 in 17 innings.:O at a Sr of 33 with just 3 fifties and two of them are against bangladesh.

Take out bangladesh bashing and he he avg 11 :O in 14 innings

Jesse Ryder is a good test bat, well at least better than Fulton :))..Hell so is Martin Guptill

Ryder is a good bat. Still averages 40+ although he is a bit of an India basher. But he atleast has potential unlike Two meter peter.

Anderson is just another Afridi, not a test match player.

His seam bowling and fielding makes him very useful. Also, he has a test ton on debut. But Neesham has a ton in his last test. Plus, Corey is a total hack against spin.

These batsmen are laying platform for the batsmen to come in next. Taylor, Mc Cullum and Neesham are capable of scoring quick runs.

Guess it just depends on you're alternative options and possibly the type of surfaces they are playing on, Anderson would be an absolute no no in subcontinent though.

What pace does he bowl?

What a extremely slow game. Nearly 30/1 of 20 overs - tests. In T20 you see something like 145/5 of 20 overs. Massive difference of forms and that's why test Cricket will perish plus at the extremely small crowd for this minnow class of West and NZ. Barely even 500 people lol

Rutherford should be playing, has the potential to take game away from opposition in a session.
nawww, Ryder recent scored the 6 or 7th fastest ODI hundred. If its speed, Ryder easily takes it. Also Ryder is a good player of spin, which is why he's incredibly successful vs India

Please go away.

Ryder carries a lot of baggage though which might upset team balance.

Low 130s. Can crank it up to 140 if needed. Fast-medium I reckon. Neesham is also suspect against spin but he has the goodwill of his last test knock.

lol not every country jam packs their stadiums to see their teams lose :shakib. And thats actually a decent crowd considering its the West Indies

thats his main problem...however he's probably the most talented batsman in NZ-he just acts like a hack when he's overly aggressive.

If he can move the ball around a bit and can do a 4th seamer role than possibly play him in England, South Africa etc but not sure what his temperament with bat in hand is like.

If he can put a price on his wicket than maybe there is a spot for him.

This is too slow tbh , no team should be playing below 3rpo in this era.

This seems to be the case all the time of late whenever there is test being played in WI plus Williamson can bore the hell out of you sometimes but it is the first session so will let it slide for now.

This is a top 8 clash and there's hardly any crowd even for a Sunday. Very boring session.

First morning of match and two part timers already been used in Bravo and Samuels, Ramdin isn't off to a good start as captain.

It's an all you can chuck buffet out here. Shilly, Samuels, Williamson. Chuckers gonna chuck.
