West Indies v Pakistan | 3rd ODI | Providence | April 11, 2017 | Pakistan Innings

Hafeez has booked his ticket for CT...This sluggish wicket and low total is his kind of game...Problem is tournaments are not played on such wicket, there you need better player of pace, which most of these seniors are not, we will be struggling to post or chase 300, where par score would be 320, opposition (ENG/AUS/NZ/SA) will play four seamers and our middle order (Hafeez, Malik, Sarfi) would be dud against them, we will not be able to compete, same story as before... :((
 
Don't want to admit it, but when Hafeez plays well he looks incredibly classy.
 
If Hafeez can do it - why does he not? I don't think its as much about ability as it is about confidence.

They all need to go: Malik, hafeez, shehzad, Akmal. I have been fairly consistent about that.

He is very methodical and precise

Would be an excellent finisher

as u said previously he looks classy when in his own but it occurs againsibber here..ng a dead rus in 1st odi we would have been playt the weaker sides and too rarely..if it was not his selfish inning
 
Hafeez will always win about twice as much as MoM awards as the next guy in the team. That however does not mean anything when it comes to serious cricket.

No replacements actually, even if you pick up the best youngsters, still the lack of experience is a major problem which will make our team go through a huge crisis...As you've seen in the past few years, a lot of times we've flopped against the minnows and the seniors are the ones who still manage a win but then we have to call them minnows.

Even Babar's performance against Australia was below average
 
i mean his selfish inning sosts us 1st odi..and his fluency comes against weaker sides and too rarely..but treat to watch when on..

Boss, these guys have lost us every trophy out there. A decade of mediocrity when playing the big moments and the big boys. I would rather lose with new talent.

That's a tad harsh.
He's arguably our second best T20 captain..
Played some very good knocks in England (2010) and of course in the subcontinent..

Been pathetic over the last twelve months and I think he should have been dropped permanently.. But now that he's been picked I think he deserves a final hourrah at the CT..
Given his history pre 2015, I'd say he deserves it more then Akmal and Shezhad..
 
Wel, I wanted four players out, but we will lose 2 players only. I should be happy with that.
 
Might upset a few people, but Malik has been an upgrade on Misbah at the #5 position.
 
I think, MoHa will go back to opening in CT. They'll bring Umar & Azhar, with Azhar-MoHa opening.

I'd be glad if it's just one. Saj bhai mentioned in the other thread that Inzi is very tight with Kami and is hugely impressed with him, don't expect him to be dropped. Shehzad might be the only one that gets the chop. Even he might be in the squad, but may not feature in the playing eleven.

Complete failure from 2003-2009, won quite a few matches vs Zimbabwe in 2011, failed at the World Cup, had a 3 match purple patch in T20Is vs India and SA, failed in the CT, failed in multiple World T20s with the bat, had a good patch vs England in 2015, did well vs NZ in 2016, failed in the England Test series. That is pretty much his career. Can't take his bowling seriously because he is a chucker, so I am ignoring his value as an all-rounder.

If getting rid of Akmal meant getting rid of Hafeez too, I would take it!! Hell they can drop Malik too if it means no more Akmal
 
Beautiful sweep shots by Malik. He looks miles better batsman than Hafeez.
 
Malik is probably the best spin player outside Test world.

free rides? they did well under aggressive captains like Inzi. No solid point from both the sides, hence the debate should be diffused though I'll stick to my point

Like an Indian friend once said "We will walk this". Too bad India got walloped on that day, let's hope the result is different for Pakistan today.

Generally he thrive when wicket is slow and low, trade mark of Misbah Battalion(they have played in UAE for millions of years)...Problem is that does not help winning tournament...Nobody plays LOI cricket on such wickets, Pakistan keep building team on Old and dated platform, these conditions and player are cricket killers...If young players are kept in UAE for a decade, they will all be like Misbah 11, this is not the future we are looking for... We will remain #8/9 team with such policies and players :sanga:

He was pretty decent between 2010 and late 2014...

Ok rubbish against Steyn but otherwise quiet decent.. certainly wasn't the worst player for us.

Let him have the his swan song at the CT
 
Difference between Mian and Hafeez is that the former always knows what he is doing, even when things are not going his way. His mental game is at a different level to Hafeez.
