What's new

West Indies v Pakistan | 3rd Test | Roseau, Dominica | May 10-14, 2017 | Day 1

tbf to him, compared to the previous test, it's an absolute road. These two are set and need to go on and score big hundreds

Exactly last pitch was terrible.. Pakistan need to capitalize on this good start and should try to win this by an innings..

Azhar doesn't have all the shots. If he did, he would not have failed in ODIs. Limited, strokeless wonders are exposed in white ball cricket. However, temperament and concentration trumps everything in Test cricket, which Azhar has in abundance. He is becoming a run scoring machine in this format. Outstanding Test batsman without any doubt.

Jason Holder, All that height and body and bowls slower than Venkatesh Prasad

If Holder can bowl at least in mid or upper 130's consistently, he would be deadly.

Test matches are so chill.
:misbah3
Too bad there isn't any for a while after this match.

Holder has a lot of potential with the bat. He should give up his half-hearted bowling and fully focus on his batting. Should promote himself to number 5 as well. He can be West Indies' Mathews.

Well, the last match had a minefield, but I wouldn't call it all out flat. There does seem to be a bit for bowlers, could be wrong though.

Yes, one of them has to go on to make a daddy hundred, preferably both.

Give Joseph 2 season of county championship cricket and he could turn into a world class bowler.

Seems like the kind of ground where this 50 would be classed as a 100. :shehzad

Certainly among the top 3 openers currently.

Oh no, waleed88 Babar has his second 50+ score of the series :(

He is playing as all rounder.

That does not give him the license to trundle. He is coming lower down the order at 7th or 8th down. Which means, he has to put in a bit more to be considered as a 4th or 5th bowler especially when Roston Chase is already the 5th bowler.

Holder's bowling is simply not good enough.

Yea he's pretty good on bowling tracks, but in flat wickets he is just a trundler. He can swing and seam the ball. Also gets bounce and keeps things tight.

WI board does not care , as long as he is Yes Man.

WI have 2 ineffective 5th bowlers in Chase and Holder. Might work on misbehaving pitches. On flat beds, they get badly exposed.

Seems like a pretty dire pitch this. Slow, flat and crap outfield.

Perhaps.

Holder is a valuable piece. But no way he should be considered as 4th bowler.

Ashley Nurse or Badree or someone should be playing in place of Vishal Singh to bolster their bowling.

I personally would've brought in Miguel Cummings for this match for a batsman. He got a 5-get against India; But winning combination you know...
:misbah4

Very poor run rate , Pakistan not looking to win here.

Arey yaar relax. We will accelerate in the second half of the innings as long as these two can lay down a solid foundation. 420-450 and putting the Windies in to bat before stumps tomorrow is a possibility if these two carry on for a bit tomorrow morning.

Waqar talking about having left handers in the team LOL. Yet he stacks our team with right handers during his tenure.

More tactical genius from the commentary box :))) :))) :))) Markhor Mamoon

Our batting was pretty solid under Waqar.

Waqar was probably worst tactical captain ever in history, at least one of the worst

It just goes to show he wanted a number of things but never got his way every time due to politics, plus how many quality lefties did we have in Pakistan during his run anyway? plus certain spots were selected by default given the stable nature of our Test line up. We must also part;y credit Waqar for a lot of the hard work he did which lead to the performance in England/Undefeated-UAE-Record and Mickey pointed that out as well

People like attacking waqar and making fun of him because they think its cool or to appeal to his hate fan club, don't be one of those blokes

It's funny how he can identify all the problems now.

I felt sorry for him at certain times and with certain things but when Arthur is bashed to make Waqar look like a tactical genius it's annoys me.

I love Waqar the bowler, but Waqar the coach he was awful.

I agree that's not good either and many posters do that, I don't like it both ways tbh Waqar and Mickey are both unfairly criticised by the fan-boys. To say he is awful would be going overboard, we have been undefeated in UAE Test series under him and he contributed to the performance in England to. ODI's he could have done better that has to be said but we have fallen down big time since he left that's not criticsing Arther because we should give him time to turn things around

I love listening to Waqar on commentary, because it just reinforces how little he understands of Pakistan's strategy despite being coach for all that time :))

Good to see so much appreciation for the legend..

Shame about the few prepubescent fans who can't appreciate a test match legend like YK.
