I was talking about playing till after lunch tomorrow. 2 sessions from right about now are more than enuf to get 150 odd more?
 
Still have a pretty healthy lead here, look to be in the driver's seat!
 
Lol anytime the ball hits the pad or beats the batsman, and is line with the stumps but is too high, Michael Holding brings up that if it was Guyana the batsmen would be out lol.......
 
Roach has been very unlucky today. Does he still have the spirit to give one last go at the end of the day?

This is Pakistan don't be expecting too much. Remember the next batsman after this is Misbah who you can never rely on to milk the runs!

Umar Akmal can contribute but after that Salman has not doen a great deal and then its our superb tail who can get us up to a huge lead.

So for now 250 is a must by end of play today.

Tomorrow should look to really pace the innings.

We need to be in a position to win the game and not let West Indies draw! Which is why need to give them as much overs to bat out as possible otherwise they will draw which is enough for them to take the series 1-0
 
our think tank is too predictable...I knew they will not send Umar at no.4...how Asad Shafiq qualifies for batting at no.4 ahead of Junior is inexplicable...
 
I will be very disappointed if Taufeeq doesn't go on to score a big 1 here. He is on 75 and has been there from the beginning!

What is worse is that Misbah will never send Umar Akmal before him either!

And then they all expect Umar Akmal to lead Pakistan to a very big total.

If thats the case send him at no.3 or 4 not any more than that!

I know...this defensive mentality is really frustrating to cope with...
 
Asad putting pressure on Taufeeq...having 3 middle order batsmen (Azhar, Asad, Misbah) ahead of Umar Akmal who have limited range of shots seriously helps the opposition in building pressure...

Instead of getting up the rankings we're gonna go down them at this rate!

Test cricket was always our best form of cricket when we attacked.

Oh gone are the days when we could easily rack up 500-600 against any oppositions!

This defensive mentality is going to be very very damaging to Pakistan.

Will be very difficult to come out of too.
 
I won't be surprised if Taufeeq loses his wicket due to pressure by Asad who just does not feel like scoring.

Maybe Misbah had words with him before coming in to bat.

scoring slow is a huge reason why we can't score even 250-300 consistently these days because our batsmen get frustrated when their plan A doesn't work and than they are left scratching their heads, clueless...usually, once your batsmen have settled, they look to consolidate the scoring rate so that the game can advance...

like right now, Taufeeq should be scoring more than blocking but he's just gone into a shell...
 
14 overs left in the day possibily less if light ends the game early and still need minimum of 35 to get that 250 lead!

Really poor cricket considering the start given!
 
Taufeeq really needs to score his 100 tonight...but he's at the moment content with tuk tuk :facepalm:

Shafiq should NOT be batting at no.4 ahead of Junior from here on ahead!!! switch their positions...Umar at 4, Shafiq at 6...

I would never ever wish evil for any of our batsman. He was starting his inngs. Bishoo didnt give much away while he was batting. You are sounding if tomorrow is the last day of the match.

Very disappointed with your comment. Give the young guy a break. He could have easily upped his strike rate had he got his eye in.
 
Taufeeq has just gone into a total shell and the worst part is, Misbah is at the other end now who will encourage more of the tuk tuk game :facepalm:

Next Test series Mo Yo and Younis must be called back in the side.

Yousuf seems to be back in top form. He is scoring healthy scores consistently against Warwickshire.

If we are to be a force in test cricket and rise up the rankings then Yousuf and Younis are a must!

Them 2 are the only 2 players who can get us upto high totals of 450+ and 500+
 
An hour left of today's play now, no more wickets lost, and 40-50 more runs would be nice.

I agree 100 percent with this post though. YK and Yousuf have not played a test together since July 2009.

I am dying to see Younus and Yousuf bat together again in a test. :moyo:yk

Got his eye in when after 50 deliveries?

This is not the last day of the match but with 2 days to go and with just a lead of 219. With the start Pakistan got and then went dead after that.

We need to build a good big lead and give West Indies alot of time to bat so we could get 10 wickets and NOT put them in to bat where the only thing looking likely is a draw.

I am looking at the bigger picture here of a win and not a loss or a draw!

What has me wishing him out got to do with him him actually getting out. I made that comment after he got out. Him getting out was the best thing right now because we need to up the pace and not get bogged down.

He was denying singles and putting pressure on Taufeeq who is the man in form right now in his 70s!
 
one thing is for sure for the next test that asad is going to be replaced by moyo/yk provided :ibutt doesn't have any other ideas
 
Taufeeq needs to get a move on...

after starting off 33 from 23 (7 fours), he has since scored 46 off 168 (1 four)!!!

taufeeq is playing quite a selfish innings, the scenario does dictate him to attack now, im not saying he should start hitting everything, but he needs to keep the scoreboard ticking over else if we lose a couple of wickets with the score stagnating we could be in a situation where we are looking at a 250-275 lead instead of a 300+ one

As I thought. To be fair he may have been instructed to calm down because he was like a mad man before lunch. We could do with quick runs but past experiences show a collapse of epic proportions can come and the game is not secure yet.

we have to set a good total with enough time to bowl out WI as this pitch has flattened out a bit...should be looking at 130-140 overs for WI to chase 350+...but if we go at this pace, getting to 350+ target will take forever!

Yar, We still have plenty of time to force the result. We would have a lead of 245 at the end of the day. And then we can bat for 50-55 overs tomorrow and can take lead past the 400 mark(See, even maintaining a rate of 3 would take us to the 400). This will give our bowlers 135-140 overs to bowl Windies out and I think thats more than enough.

Asad was settling in, could have easily paced his innings and I dont know how it was in our best interest that he got out. Because we all know Misbah will bat at no. 5 and we know how good Misbah is when it comes to roatating the strike. So, Asad in, current scenario, would have been more handy than Misbah.
