Coke ice cream frozen in a steel glass in freezer with a steel spoon stick taken out by pouring hot water from the tap from the sink in the kitchen. Now that's desi.

The best rubberi is made in Hyderabad Sindh - I forget the name of the exact street but its worth the distance.

What's with all the supermen/women avatars? It's driving me crazy.. :91:

Chocolate Fudge cake, for me.

Yep, that would be me

If I had to pick a particular one then a nicely done Cheesecake

:14: :14: :14:

cheesecake is phenomenal - Tesco's used to sell this cheesecake by a company called Entelmanns and it was brilliant BUT they stopped selling it cos they said it was not popular :12: :12: :12:

My mum makes really nice cheesecake. I really do need to learn how to make it. Very few things annoy me more than on Eid or some dinner party when my mum makes and some punk kid takes a huge slice and wastes half. Tragic waste

If it was my younger brother I'd:
a) Bash him
b) Finish it off

Not really a problem cause my brother has more sense than that. These stupid kids though :12: :12: :12:

i just ban him from the PC/xbox etc as punishment :16:

i always buy cheesecake, havnt ever had it homemade - when i do buy it i make sure no little punk gets there grubby hands on it

Ice cream or any desert my mother makes, but I tend to stay away from deserts now days have alot of tendency to put on weight so have been controlling it ever since I got it down.

I could probably live on desserts, some I like are...

- cheesecake, all kinds
- chocolate and anything with chocolate (cakes, ice cream, bars, eclairs, mousses, etc)
- tiramisu
- carrot cake, especially with cream cheese frosting
- these cherry cream cheese bars and chocolate cream cheese bars I make
- key lime pie
- raspberry brownie torte

The only desi desserts I like are gulab jamun and kulfi though.

It's a very tough decision but i'm going to have to choose a Victoria sponge with lots of iceing and jam. Chocolate cake and profiteroles/eclairs come close runners up though.

Profiteroles in chocolate sauce. Ohhh baby.

i find the texture a bit dry despite the choc and cream...

then again only get ones from the supermarkets.

Now jalebi is my favourite too...jalebi in warm milk..kia baat hai!

and fattening

They are fatty as heck...to be fair I try to avoid desserts as much as I can, unless it is a bowl of fruit or something. I like to have a 'naughty' dessert a couple of times a week though!

Similar poll conducted by the Pakistan Government but ours is a little more sophisticated!

Mysore Pak
Jangri
Semiya Payasam
Kozhukkattai
Paalgova

Most PPers might not have heard of these items :D.

Why is gulab jamun the only option among desi sweatmeats in the poll? It is a clear case of dhandli :mns

I vote for gajar ka halwa

Is has to be kheer/rice pudding for me with some fruits in it. I don't like over sweet or sticky desserts like ghulab jamin.

Gulab jamun , ghari , basundi , gajar ka halwa many more things can't choose one.

Can I choose all. Also shoutout to Jalabi Junction Jalabiya lads. Gharam Gharam jalabiya with tundi tundi barish.

All the best sweets in the world seem to have a milk component - must be tough for those with lactose intolerance!

Home made rabri.

Or that rabri from burns road. Man i love it

Ras malai is great. Gulab jamuns all the way. Burfi aswell.

My mom makes great gajar ka halwa.

The gajar ka halwa sold in stores always hated it.

I never liked kheer or sheer

Can you add pics please?

There are variations in all of them but I will add representative pics of how my mother makes or how I personally like them.

Mysore Pak (gram flour and sugar syrup combined made in pure ghee)
mysorepak.jpg

Jangri (different from North Indian Jalebi, this one is softer, more sweet and with more ghee flavor, not tangy)
jaangri.jpg

Semiya Payasam (vermicelli pudding)
semiya.jpg

Kozhukkattai (steamed like momo but with sweet stuffing, I like jaggery+coconut inside, Lord Ganesh's favorite food so we make it to honor him)
kozha.jpg

Paalgova (like milk fudge but Tamil style, my mom uses less saffron than what is shown in the pic :P)

Warning for others: NEVER have mysore pak. it is a brick of sugar. poor man's candy.

WOW nice, think I've had variations of most of these apart from the last two, though they both look very sumptuous and defo would like to try them.

Desi: Multani Halwa and Barfi

Western: Raspberry Cheesecake and Chocolate ice cream
