The Infidel

An identity crisis comedy centred on Mahmud Nasir, successful business owner, and salt of the earth East End Muslim who discovers that he's adopted - and Jewish.

A pretty hilarious movie. Good plot. Not much logic in the movie though. Good for viewing once.

6 / 10

'Phata Poster Nikla Hero' (2013)

1. A film straight out of the 1990s decade where it was all about the usual nonsense of the villain being the protagonist`s father. I was able to guess most of it before things happened in it.

2. The occasional comedy and entertainment was good but was overall even not a below average film.

3. If you plan to make a film without any storyline at all, then make sure that it's a complete comedy film and not only occasional funny scenes.

Downfall (again)

Powerful movie depicting Hitler's last days in charge. Bruno Ganz turns in an exceptional performance. One of the greatest war film.

what is the weirdest movie you guys have seen ?

Little Otik also known as Greedy Guts

When a childless couple learn that they cannot have children, it causes great distress. To ease his wife's pain, the man finds a piece of root in the backyard and chops it and varnishes it into the shape of a child. However the woman takes the root as her baby and starts to pretend that it is real. When the root takes life they seem to have gained a child; but its appetite is much greater than a normal child.

A serbian film :moyo

Most of the movies watched by leatherface are weird:holding

Thanks , most weird movies I saw so far is

Being John Malkovich.

James Bond - A view to kill Roger moore as James bond fails Zorin an industralists plan to destroy the silicon valley i think its one of the best 007 movies with some nice ladies ;-)

RUSH - Brilliant movie and great soundtrack by Hans Zimmer. Even if you are not a fan of F1 you will like this movie

Do not under any circumstances watch A Serbian Film unless you want to feel like a criminal. It's a sick sick film. And when I'm saying it's sick, you better believe it. :danish.

The Wounds, The Fourth Man are one of my favorite movies

There is a movie named A Serbian Film. Easily one of the sickest movies ever. Plus, it doesn't have the courage to admit that it is a shameless exploitation film instead pretending to be a criticism of Serbian politics or something. So it's pretentious garbage, the worst kind of garbage.

Ohh. LOL .!!! My bad, I mistook what you meant earlier

was forced to sit and watch the following movies..
1. A lot like love
2. The first time
3. Just Friends
4. the vow
5. It's a boy girl thing
6. 10 things I hate about you
:kami :kami :kami :kami
Though I admit Heath ledger was superb in the 10 things I hate about you

I haven't actually watched A Serbian Film. I read the summary on wikipedia and didn't pursue checking whether the movie is as sick as the summary sounds. Although there were bits where I wondered how they executed it.

Edward Scissorhands. 8.5/10 .

Absolute class from Tim Burton. And Johnny Depp was awesome.

An inventor creates a person named Edward. before finishing Edwards hands the inventor dies and Edward is left with a pair of metal scissors for hands. The movie goes around on how a society welcomes and missuses with Edward's pair of Scissors and a then afterwards changes their behavior towards him.

I guess I need to check out A Serbian Film

You have to be mentally sick to watch that film. As a human being its just morally wrong to watch that film.

I was with a group of friends and we put in on for about 10 mins and switched it off.

Disturbing is different. This is a morally wrong film and it's a movie made by cowards purporting to make a"political" film when it's just a shameless exploitation film. Even critics reviewing Z-Grade films told people that they could watch it but will be better off if they don't. I won't(can't) tell you not to watch it but safe to say you will wish you hadn't.

I found it on youtube. I'll watch it when I can and give you my views.

'Shootout at Wadala' (2013)

Filled with some excellent actors and all of them acted very well, with Manoj Bajpai being the stand out performer as always.

However, the script, storyline etc. made it a pretty weak film and a below average one.

Swearing in films makes me feel like "arrghhh!" and this one had a lot of it and add one song with very vulgar lyrics (I skipped it of course after hearing the initial few lines). It is hard to believe how a film could contain such good dialogues (the best of this year) and yet contain swearing at the same time!

Disliked the religious element and particularly one utter garbage dialogue uttered by Manoj Bajpai which I roughly remember went like, "Women have been fooling men right from the time of Adam", or something.

In short, not even a percent as good as 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' (2007).

Zinda Bhaag (2013)

A brilliant Pakistani film. All new faces except Naseeruddin Shah (Indian Actor) but still very good acting by all the actors. It's about those people who just wanna go abroad no matter how (Student Visa + Fake Passports etc.)

After "Bol" this is second Pakistani movie which I liked. Must go and watch and support Pakistani cinema. Talent is there all they need is good support... 7/10

The Lunchbox (2013)

Wonderful bollywood movie. Irfan Khan is a very good actor, his acting looks so real.

The movie is different than typical Masala movies. Highly recommended.

8/10

The Past 8/10

It's everything from Farhadi movies but better. I didn't like the hint at the end, it takes away a lot from the movie.

Gravity.

Amazing visual effects and brilliant use of 3D. The story however is quite predictable and almost Disney like. Also, could they not have picked up someone with a more softer face than Sandra Bullock. Certainly would have made the movie go by much faster.

'Madras Cafe' (2013)

A pretty good film I think. Even if John Abraham doesn´t get to work in any blockbusters or too many good films, he himself acts quite well I have seen.

Watched a film called The Iceman which is based on a true story about a contract killer in America.

It was a pretty good film, lots of blood and killings though, so discretion advised.

7/10

Saw this again and enjoyed it more than I had before. Still think it's overrated on imdb and drags a lot sometimes. But it's unnerving and it's fun to see Jack ham. The use of weird sounds is very good and as usual Kubrick directs very methodically. Worth watching and a very important horror film.

7.5/10

I've tried watching it, can't get into it.

Recently saw three movies, Prisoners, Gravity and Captain Philips.

Prisoners : 8/10

Gravity: 6/10 ( apart from 3D visuals, ordinary movie).

Captain Philips : 6.5 ( based on true story).

I watched A Serbian Film- absolute trash, violent porn movie with a couple really controversial/sick/morally wrong scenes. The eye socket scene at the end made me laugh! I really don't know what to make of it. What was the director trying to achieve?? Stupid movie

Landmark horror movie. Layers and layers of depth and multiple meanings can be found in each and every scene. Kubrick's genius shines through. Worth watching over and over again. A masterpiece.

I've also recently seen 2 of 3 of the above movies.

Captain Phillips was good, I thought it was a very difficult movie to make without turning it into the same old hostage crisis type movie. Tom Hanks reminds us again that he didn't just get those oscars for being cute.

Gravity- excellent special effects and amazing use of 3D. Clooney as always is really good. Bullock did well but I somehow never felt empathy for her.

Plan to watch Prisoners soon.

the reluctant fundamentalist which is basically the same as every other post 9/11 film which talks about the radicalisation of muslims as a result of the reaction after 9/11- new york my name is khan etc etc

I've tried watching it, can't get into it.

I can understand. It's very deliberately paced and sometimes gets very slow and can drag on. The middle part of the movie is a little weak but overall the movie is better on repeat viewings. Still think the 8.5 rating on Imdb is a touch overrated though.

Yes , He is a very under rated actor. Not a star , but has screen presence. Never seen him act badly.

the world's end

i can't understand why this movie has been received so positively. it's generally really not very funny and the plot gets more and more unfocused as it goes on, i didn't even understand what was going on at the end. after the success of shaun of the dead and hot fuzz, it's like they knew they wanted to make another movie but didn't have any decent ideas for it.

saw filth the other day too. sublime. probably as good as trainspotting. it's about 10x as funny as the the world's end whilst also being a riveting drama. says a lot.

Prisoners

A slightly different child kidnapping movie. It asks the moral question, how far as a parent can one go to save their kid. A lot of plot twists, suspenseful, well paced and great acting from Jake Gylenhall, Hugh Jackman, Terrence Howard, Paul Dano and Viola Davis.

The Breakfast club

I enjoyed it a lot, middle part was just awesome.

8/10 .....it could have been 10 if it had ended differently. On the whole a class movie !

People are forgetting that imdb scores for well advertised movies tend to come down over time so Gravity won't stay at 8.6 or Prisoners above 8. Among movies release this year, Le Passé and 12 years a slave are already under 8 when they started above. And most recent ratings are skewed towards decent quality blockbusters, while truly acclaimed movies are in the 6.5-8 bracket, gaining ratings over time and that probably will never cross the 8 mark.

Pretty badass performance from Hugh. The goatee was cool as well. :zaka

Leatherface I watched The Purge on the plane the other day.

Pretty nice. Liked the concept a lot but could have done a lot more with it one feels.

It tried creating the Panic room style atmosphere but that never really worked. Probably not long enough or tense enough.

Loved the cc footage style scenes of the people surrounding the house though. That was legit creepy.

I feel it would have been better shown from different characters across the city rather than just the one family.

Also watched Fukrey. Very funny. Except the sound track really started annoying me.

I watched another Somali Pirate movie, "A Hijacking", very different than Captain Philips but almost the same theme. It is a European based movie.

There are more emotions than actions in the movie but still worth to see for serious movie fans.

I loved it. 8.5/10 for me!

Yeah, he can be pretty intense. I liked Jake Gylenhall too, guys got serious acting chops. In almost any role, he manages to be so believable. Seriously good actor, probably one of the best in the current young actor generation, including Joaquin Phoenix.

Captain Philips.

Not the best from Tom Hanks' stables, but well worth a watch.

Zero Dark Thirty

Finally managed to watch it and absolutely loved it. Awesome awesome movie. Should have gotten the Oscar, I'm guessing the torture scenes were too much for the liberal Hollywood crowd to approve and recognize. They instead gave it to an above average movie which celebrated Hollywood itself, what a bunch of ego maniacs. Kathryn Bigelow is so freaking talented. To put together such a long and exhaustive search for OBL into an entertaining few hours was nothing short of masterful. The final op sequence was brilliantly conceived and shot. It reminded me of how amazingly difficult this operation was and to pull through it without much collateral damage or being captured must have been close to a miracle. This should go down as one of the most brilliant operations ever done by US special forces. Made fictional Rambo look weak. Of course Pakistan was one of main characters. It got portrayed pretty accurately in my opinion. Of course we would love to not have our country be recognized with such movies but what can I say. If we keep being the epicenter of terror in the world, this movie, The Mighty Heart and others will continue to be about us and portray us as the world see us as. In any case, great movie.

^ Haven't watched it, because I for one, believe that the operation was nothing but a fairy tale.

Agreed. Phoenix is probably the best actor going around currently.
