The Lost Boys

Brilliant vampire horror comedy. The Frog brothers are hilarious. Pretty much laid the template for shows such as Buffy and True Blood. Great mix of horror, humour and even a touching moment or two. Highly recommended!

8.5/10

Knowledgable.

Oh thanks! Got to learn something new. :)

Its not that scary , should be called rather a " supernatural movie. "

Except the majority of people did find it scary. There were screams and gasps in most theaters in most shows. So no, a tiny minority not being scared doesn't make that much of a difference

Watched Krrish 3 and " i like it " good movie specially not much thumka's less songs 7/10

Watched a classic 90s comedy Office Space.

They don't do comedy like this anymore.

Lol.then you dont know the difference between majority and minority. Even in PP most of the people gave a review that it wasn't the horror that made the movie click.

screams in most of the theaters in your area doesn't count as screams in Majority of theater in the whole world. those people who screamed and gasped might have not seen a real horror movie :rana

Krrish 3 - disappointed, expected more from this

4/10

I don't know what is more disappointing.

The movie (which I haven't seen tbh) or the fact people actually go in to watch it with a level of expectation?

Personally, I seldom watch films and I mean extremely rarely. However, I managed to watch the film Bradford Riots and finished watching it just now. Genuinely, it is one of the greatest films I've ever seen (although this is a little restricted given the small sample size of films I've watched), as impressive now (arguably more considering the way in which I've aged and how interested I've become in such issues from history, which has allowed me to take the full worth and appreciate such films to a greater extent nowadays) as it was when I first watched it during school.

I'd personally rate it an 8/10, a strong contender to be my utmost favourite film. It has even inspired me to create a thread on the Bradford Riots which hopefully you will see present upon PakPassion in the near future.

Just watched the most awful and nonsensical movie ever - Chennai Express -- dont watch many Bollywood movies these days but thought I'll give this a watch after hearing it had broken all records in India -- cannot believe its the same movie.. typical overacting by Shah Rukh Khan..

What a waste of 3 hrs .

It was a good movie no doubt , in fact has a repeat value.

But do not think its all out scary movie.

Have you already made that thread?

Didnt had high expectations from it but thought it would be on the level of Koi Mil Gaya or Krrish which were at least passable but sadly Krrish 3 was much more worse than that

Didn't pick you for a Bollywood movie watcher. What were you thinking.

Prisoners.

Pretty good. Arguably Gyllenhaal's best work.

Quite intense perfromances throughout. But I did kinda figure out who the eventual murderer will be quite early into the movie.

I was totally on the edge of my seat. My girlfriend then revealed to me afterwards that she worked it all out 30 minutes in. So I felt rather stupid at that point.

Saw it. Intense is an understatement.

Jackman was good. Gyllenhal was better.

So many theories were being flung around throughout the movie. The theory I locked in ended up being the right one. Which was surprising because I was going for some outlandish theories. At one point I was thinking they've been put into the trees. WTH?

Loved the final scene.

Reminded me of Zodiac, and a bit of the Sopranos ending touch.

I watched Original Sin very good movie specially Antonio banderas very expressive in his role enjoyed the movie

8-Ball...

Gritty Finnish crime flick...nothing flash...realistic portrayal of a single mother trying to get her life back together after a drugs bust...if you're cool with slow burners you'll enjoy this...

Childs Pose...

Good Romanian flick exploring the relationship between a mother and his child after he accidentally runs over a child...like most romanian flicks a good exploration of the human psyche...its hard to work out who to root for in this flick...

I finally got a copy of Takashi Miikes latest Shield of Straw and Korean gangster flick New World...will be watching them over the next couple days...

Gravity - 6/10. Nice visuals but boring as hell. Went to IMAX 3d showing. Some scenes were breathtaking but the movie was mostly garbage.

The last house on the Left

After kidnapping and brutally assaulting two young women, a gang led by a prison escapee unknowingly finds refuge at a vacation home belonging the parents of one of the victims -- a mother and father who devise an increasingly gruesome series of revenge tactics.

7 / 10

Sounds interesting i'm downloading this :)

The Man from Nowhere
8.5/10

A brilliant Korean version of Leon:The Professional. Probably too grim sometimes but some great action and the emotional component is strong. Also liked the character of the Hitman who is protective of the girl despite being a cold blooded killer otherwise.

That's the movie with the graphic rape scene and the oven?

'Boss' (2013)

1. Akshay Kumar is 'developing' himself into a very bad, annoying actor.

2. Ronit Roy is an excellent actor! Has good presence and manages to express himself without words. Very under-rated I suppose.

3. The occasional comedy in the film wasn´t bad.

4. The lengthy action and fight scenes were boring and tiresome.

5. The first 30 minutes or so seemed pretty mindless, the ending was a little to straight forward which gives the impression as if the film-maker got tired and shut the shop immediately.

6. Keeping in mind the standards of the Bollywood film nowadays, I will give it a 65 percent rating.

gravity, good use of 3D, annoying soundtrack tho

would have liked it more is sandra bullock had died, would have been more profound regarding life and death, the fetal scene, etc.

What would you rate gravity out of 10 bro?

7/10 too, the action sequences, excuse the pun, are out this world, lol. seriously tho, if it had 20, 25 minutes more action it could have been really good, also was annoyed that even tho sharif was a Harvard grad he sounded like tech support calling from middle of nowheresville. cant an ethnic asian been an indigenous american? anyhoo rant over

Yeah that accent annoyed me. He is a rocket scientist. From Harvard. Ffs give him a normal sounding accent.

The first person scenes were breathtaking.

7 is probably accurate.

Would have been good if Bullock ended up making it back, but then drowned to death instead. Twist of fate.

Gravity is film of the year for me- a technical marvel. Space has never looked better on film. Nail biting & emotional. There is nothing like it.

Gravity. nothing special. Average visuals and poor story. Plot was very predictable after first 10 mins of the movie.

Average visuals? You gotta be kidding right? And predictable? We all knew what the movie was going to be about....what was there to predict?

every time she would enter into a shuttle or service station a debris would strike it.
Yes visuals were average.

Last Vegas.

The theme has been done a million other times. Had its share of funny moments. The camaraderie between the 4 stars was brilliant though.

7/10.

The plot was predictable 10 months before the movie.

Lol what were you expecting in the plot?

That Clooney was an Alien, the Earth was fake and the entire thing was an elaborate social experiment being conducted on people who had lost their children at an early age to see how they cope?

The social experiment part was the twist in the pilot of The Twilight Zone. The other two, well safe to say you could have been a writer on The Twilight Zone. :asif

The weirdest thing just happened.

I was going through some movies on IMDB to watch later tonight and I happen to come across a movie called 'In Bruges'.

For more suggestions, I came to this thread and clicked on a random page number.

Guess what was the name of the movie which was being discussed on that page? 'In Bruges', that's right.

What a coincidence. :P

If I'd grown up on a farm and was retarded, this coincidence might impress me. But I didn't so it doesn't.

The Conjuring.

Boring movie. I watched it alone at night and I only got scared at once instant..and that was when they zoomed in on the ghosts' face. Obviously pulling that trick will make anyone scared. -_-
You know I made a couple of posts about the movie on my blog while watching it. Come next morning I didn't even remember that I had watched the movie until I saw my posts when I opened my blog.

Same boring storyline. Family moves in house- weird stuff happens - denial - acceptance - calls in ghost hunters - turns out the demon/ghosts wants one particular member of the house - yadayadayada ..you know the drift.

Perfect Blue...

Wow...what a great movie...its been a while since a movie has played with my head like this one did...an outstanding psychological thriller and that too as an anime...I haven't seen it but Black Swan apparently borrows heavily from this movie...sad to see the director passed away young with cancer but I will certainly be checking out the remaining parts of his library...

Might check that out.

To all the horror thriller genre fans, any suggestions for a good one to watch with a group?

Preferably something that will provoke multiple outlandish theories throughout the movie being thrown about with wanton disregard for the actual movie watching experience.

ie oh Yeh buddi ne qatal kiya ho ga sab ko...

'Ramaiya Vastavaiya' (2013)

1. May come across as a bit outdated concept I think, but I absolutely loved it purely based on the entertainment value and given that it was good for family viewing.

2. Most of the film was inspired from film 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' (1999) and even more so 'Maine Pyar Kiya' (1989), but I loved the comedy and the funny scenes it.

3. The way the guy behaved with the girl at that wedding is exactly, exactly the way I can behave at times for some fun, and had a pretty similar story going with a female friend of mine (but then real life took over......). Seeing them together reminded me so much of events in life from the last June to the end of September.

4. It´s so easy to win my heart that I show fondness for films that entertain me, or evoke some fond memories, hence this generous man will give it a 90 percent rating. I will forever remember those scenes from the wedding and the chemistry of the two. That´s just me I suppose!

Watch David Lynch films for that: Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway(mindscrew doesn't even begin to describe it), his show Twin Peaks as well. Lynch is not everybody's cup of tea but he certainly offers something deranged.

see " Test " " The Box "

Both good thrillers.

I saw first 15 - 20 mins then stopped ........ I realized it was wastage of time.

I can understand. Not everyone is as jobless as I am.

Actually after watching 15 or so minutes I remembered that I had read that Akshay was there for only 5 scenes , so I decided no point in watching.

Not quite. How I wish he was there for five scenes only indeed!
