I've got an ever growing list now that I'm in a land bereft of cinemas.

Wolf of Wall Street
American Hustle
Anchorman 2
The Hobbit 2
Her

Wolf of Wallstreet- despite my reservations I'm in the theatre now waiting for the movie to start. Is it going to live up to the hype or will I leave $11.50 poorer and 3 hrs of my life wasted. Only time will tell....

The trailer of this Johnny Depp movie "Transcendence" ..... Looks very interesting. Finally a Depp movie with some substance.

The Dawn of Planet of Apes trailer looks freakishly good too.

Waar - exceptional sound and great cinematography. Loved it but the first half could have been more tightened up. Personally, it should have been made in urdu, would have had a greater impact. Nevertheless, 7 out of 10 for me. :) not bad as your debut movie as director Mr. Lashari.

Wolf of Wallstreet- funniest movie ever by Scorsese. Very much in the Goodfellas tradition. Also elements of Wallstreet and Glengarry Glenn Ross in it. It's like he made Goodfellas again against the Wall Street financial corruption background with the Hangover sensibility. Haven't seem this much skin in a mainstream movie. DiCaprio should get the Oscar. Jonah Hill is surprisingly brilliant. McCounaghey's small role is a gem, guy is so good. Highly entertaining!

Matthew McCounaghey totally stole the 10 minutes he appeared in the movie. As great as Leo was in Wolf, he doesn't deserve the Oscar over Matthew McC.

Leo IMO was better in Revolutionary Road, Aviator and Shutter Island but his Oscar is due. He is not just a pretty face. What's eating Gilbert Grape is a brilliant example of his acting genius at such a young age.

Yea, he was brilliant in the aviator and deserved an Oscar. He was also robbed last year when he wasn't even nominated Django.

He gets robbed every year while part timers like Jean Dejurdian, Jamie Fox etc. have Oscars, this guy pays the price of being not personable and standoffish.

M2 is nominated for Dallas buyers club not WOWS although nominating Jonah hill over Daniel Bruhl for Rush is a bigger snub IMO.

Forget Jonah Hill I dont why Bradley Cooper was nominated over Bruhl for a gimmick role. I don't get the critics love with american hustle. The movie lacked substance and wasn't sure what is it going to revolve around.

Jean DuJardin was better in the Artist than Leo has been in every single one of his movies, including the best (the Aviator). People get duped by the fact that Leo choses scripts well and does the typical "acting for non-cinephile" routine like the usual "Leo's character gets out of himself and starts shouting after 3/4 movie of being charming and smiley". He is a decent actor, no doubt, but far from the best of his generation.

IMO, Joaquin Phoenix should get it this year.

Phoenix got snubbed. I found Her unique but overrated but Phoenix was pretty awesome and should have been nominated. Jonah Hill was good but his role was no different from his usual Judd Apatow shtick.

When did choosing scripts wisely made one a lesser actor. I'll try to give a detailed analysis of Leo's acting later when I have more time.

In any case, I rate Phoenix higher than him.

It doesn't. I was giving my take on the origin behind the whole oscar for leo movement. He choses good scripts that make him appear better than he is and he choses movies that are entertaining enough to have a mass appeal while considered sophisticated (django, inception prime example of following the success model of shawshank). I don't remember there being a huge outcry for him to receive an oscar at the time of the aviator.

Wolf of wall street 6.5/10 mainly because it never lived up to my high expectations, would have rated it higher had it not been 180mins. Could easily have kept some unnecesary scenes out which did little to progress the story, movie was longer then it needed to be. @Leonardo dicaprio give that man a damn OSCAR!!!

Watched a couple of movies recently.

The Machinist - Quite liked it. Always been a fan of quality psychological thrillers and this one definitely fits the bill. Christian Bale was, as usual , outstanding.

Scenic Route - Started off very well but I somewhat lost interest midway through the movie but liked the ending. Still, a decent attempt and worth a watch I'd day.

I have a five hour long bus ride ahead of me and I doubt there will be decent internet of the Greyhound therefore I am carrying a DVD of Inception. Looking forward to watching this quality movie once again.

Yet to see machinist , but it is in my list :)

dont unerstand the hype about wolve of wall street, the comedy was OTT and it never showed the full character of Belfort.

Boiler Room was better and Wall Street was miles better.

Wolf of Wall St had some of the most genuinely hilarious acting and scenes that I've seen for a long time. The dynamics between the main actors, especially in the scene where Mad Max comes barging in - that isn't even acting. That was too real.

Amazing story. Story isn't about his character. Rather more about the things he did.

Can anyone name me a couple of other one room thrillers similar to the exam? i love the use of one setting in a movie, it gives the oppourtunity to tell an entrancing story.

Actually that's my main gripe with the movie. There is no one to root for. I certainly didn't root for those selfish punks. The FBI agent was shown smarter than him and in the end, the good guy travels in a train with other common folks and the bad rich guy gets a slap on the wrist. Scorsese though elevated it to a much higher level than it would have been. Man's a master director.

Also, Max Belfort was played by Rob Reiner director of This is Spinal Tap, A few good men, Misery and other classic pictures.

Old classic "12 Angry Men" brilliant movie.

The laughs are unstoppable. A young girl sat right next to me in the theatre and I had to literally gag my laughs at certain points during the movie as to not appear like some sick freak.

boilder room and wall street are completely different genres of film, they are better dramas, but wows is not meant to be a social critique. i actually found the lack of moralising about the issue genuinely refreshing, the story has been told in many forms before so why not just focus on the unique element of belforts story, i.e. the drugs, sex, and laughs.

Short Term 12

A movie about teenager suffering from various issues like abuse etc n living in a care center the first half was good specially that song/poem by Marcus but became dull att the end

watched a movie Closer was pretty average alot of cursing n swearing on each other have watched first 40 minutes of Prisoners and Wall Street is in queue,

Watched "Midnight Run" today. This is what a comedy is supposed to be.Definitely a classic.
8.5/10.

Everywhere and Nowhere

A drama centered on a British Asian torn between honoring his family traditions and his love for DJing

5/ 10

Wolf of Wall Street 8/10 Very enjoyable movie.

If you are fan of Scorsese and films watch a documentary on youtube Martin Scorsese - Personal Journey Through American Cinema.

The Whistle blower it is about the human trafficking and how some of black sheeps in UN and other diplomats aka Raymond Davis are involved in this scum, really an eye opening movie raising another side effect of war

Dear Mr. Gacy (2010) - 8/10, Very disturbing movie, Certain parts are very difficult. Based on the true story of John Wayne Gacy. Its intense, sad, tragic and creepy all at once.

I watched Jai Ho today out of sheer boredom and not expecting anything from the movie ( as per my usual norm with Salman Khan starrers ) but was pleasantly surprised. This is the first Salman Khan movie after Wanted that I actually found watchable. Tabu is a fine actress and thankfully gets a good role in the movie as well. However, it seems like every out of work actor in Bollywood who is Salman's good graces makes a cameo appearance in the movie.

On a side note, if you want to watch this movie do not waste your money watching it in a theater. The DVD RIP is already available online. Kinda strange that the DVD print got released so early.

The Princess Diaries - I was forced into this worthless crap because of some unavoidable circumstances. 1/10. The worst movie ever.

Top 5 action films I have watched past 2 months:-

1. Speed
2. Terminator 2
3. Under Siege
4. Air Force One
5. Hard to Kill

Pacific Rim
8/10

Nice tribute to Godzilla and other kaiju films. Liked the human interaction scenes as well as the action scenes which were awesome. Worth watching atleast once. A bit overlong but nevertheless much better than the Transformers crap.

Big Bad Wolves
8/10

A brilliant Israeli Black comedy thriller about a vigilante cop investigating the murder of several girls. He starts hounding a person he thinks is the killer. However his progress is hampered by the father of one of the victims who has his own special plans for the suspect who may or may not be the killer. Harrowing torture sequences which are not as gory as they seem and a pitch black sense of humour permeate this movie. The ending is a nice little punch to the gut. You don't know whether to laugh or cry. Tarantino called it one of his favourites and I can see why: it is very coenesque or tarantinoesque.

west is west, surprisingly good, as east is east just pure comedy (thought more off a comedy for the english), this explores more emotional side off om puri

Jon Favreau's directorial debut , Made (2001). I am a big fan of the Favreau-Vaughan duo thanks to Swingers but this one is a let down, despite having its moments.

Life of a king

Most of it has been done before and the rise of the chess kid was a little too sporadic

Good movie though

Jack Ryan: 3/10. It looked like a good movie after watching the trailer but turned out to be really disappointing.

Mr. Joe B Carvalho (2014)

I feel ashamed to register in this thread that I even watched this load of rubbish! I expected better from Arshad Warsi (and I don't know why).

I watched the exact same film on BBC 2 a couple of nights ago, and I was actually pleasantly surprised by it because what it sacrifices in comedic value, it more than redeems itself in its emotional aspect.

The important question then: is it better than its predecessor? Quite possibly so, because of its rather sombre nature which was genuinely saddening.

The Avengers and it was FANTASTIC!!

I'm hoping DC can get their act together and start on the JL with Flash (my favourite), Supes, WW, Batsy, martian manhunter, Hawk Girl and Jon Stewart as the GL.

Ohh.183, Don't be . You've posted even worse movies and rated it high. So no hard feelings:))

Haha, what a response man! Well, is it my fault if it's too easy to entertain me?

Anyways, don't watch the film or else I will shoot you.

Both were good.

OM Puri is a quality actor , very much under rated in Bollywood.

indeed he is, not many good sub continent actors

i thought 1st one was good- maybe i was too young 12, i understood all the jokes if i can remember, just didnt make me laugh out right.

but west is west - i prefer the more story films which capture emotions like this, and did find om puri very very good
