watched the new police story-jackie chan, the last 2 have been really poor, a joke compared to the 80's.

also watched chinese zodiac- again crap

'Jai Ho' (2014)

An okay-ish film. I wouldn't quite recommend though if one has better options available.

Phata poster Nikla Hero
It was preety good movie for entertainment ..
As usual a bit of overacting but as a whole a good entertainer

8/10

Eight out of 10?! Hahaha:)))! The same guy who is the author of a post mocking me:)).

Our poster Mr Consistent bhai is a fan of Salman Khan, and in case he is yet to watch the film, I would request him to count the number of people his favourite actor beat up in the film. My estimate is around 215 or so.

Roadracers

Basically downloaded it for Salma Hayek but the movie was not bad its about a feud between street guys 6/10

American Hustle
7.5/10

Overrated but it's still great fun. Okay story elevated by some good direction and acting. Michael Pena and Robert De Niro were the scene stealers IMO especially Pena who was hilarious. Christian Bale AKA The Human Balloon continues to show his unbelievable commitment. Jennifer Lawrence doesn't deserve the Oscar nom IMO though. It was a good but nothing special kind of performance.

All Is Lost

A survival film, hardly any dialogues but very emotional & moving. Robert Redford deserves an Oscar.

:))) story was excellent
in jai ho salman bahi action was low standard just like south movies
Tabu what a performance rocking i think she will win sporting actor female award this year

but message was excellent first time salman bahi movie with some message.
still 9/10 because of story tabu and salu bahi performance and still better then chennai express and bodyguard

The Woman in Black.

Genuinely creepy and well worth a watch.

The reason why I didn´t come down too hard was only the message that it contained, irrespective of the fact whether they did a good job of presenting that message or not. However, the exact reference to "Help three people" was a bit senseless and could well have been simply left as "Helping others".

'Chennai Express' (2013) was a headache mind you:facepalm:!

The Woman in Black.

Genuinely creepy and well worth a watch.

The IMDB report suggests that the film hardly contains any vulgarity, sexuality etc. Good work! Please watch more of these and avoid bad stuff. I only want the best for you.

I've seen American Hustle twice and loved it. Bradley Cooper was the star of the movie for me. Most of his scenes had me laughing. Also Amy Adams looked gorgeous.

Except for the weak ending- which is typical of most horror movies.

true .

The thing with horror movies is that mostly you have to show in the end the ghost or thing that haunted , it is really difficult to keep the levels of creativity high till the end. Only thing that can be done , is to end the story at point where there are some unanswered questions , leave that to imagination of audience , or may be sequel :)

Forget Me Not

It's graduation weekend, and Sandy Channing, the popular class president of her small-town high school, should be enjoying the time of her life. But when her friends start disappearing, Sandy discovers they have unwittingly awakened the vengeful spirit of a girl they wronged long ago. Fighting for her sanity, Sandy must unlock a dark secret from her own past before it's too late.

6 / 10 .

Agree. Same thing happened with Evil dead 2 which showed the titular evil dead. But its still an awesome movie.

American Hustle, 7.8/10 I ignored all the hype and found the movie extremely satisfying, it lived up to my expectations unlike wolf of wall street which i had high hopes for. I feel American Hustle is the best crime related movie i have seen since the departed, maybe there have been a few other good ones since then but American Hustle first crime related movie in a long time which i have found very satisfying.

The Murder game

A group of teenagers invent a game in which one of them is secretly chosen to be a "killer," while the others remain innocent victims. Armed with prop weapons, the "killer" must eliminate the other players before being found out. To enhance their experience, the teens sneak into a large self-storage warehouse during its closed, late-night hours to hold their game. At first, it's better than ever. But, things take a horrific turn as one by one, the players begin dying...for real.

5.5 / 10

Watched two exceptional french films recently, Rust and Bone and Amour

Both very similar yet very different. Unflinching, emotional and hard hitting, coupled with great performances

Film making at its very best

Senseless - Marlon Wayans stars in this 1998 comedy.

I'd give it 5/10.... Poor film with some laughs.

funeralhome-1980-movie-5.jpg

AKA Cries in the Night.

6.5/10

A woman comes to stay with her granny who has turned their funeral parlour home into a bed-and-breakfast inn. But the guests start vanishing one by one...
This movie rips off Psycho so much it's not even funny. A highly misleading poster (nothing supernatural in this). It's still pretty suspenseful and the direction is good. It has scary similarities to Friday the 13th as well which released in the same year. Poor VHS quality helps rather than hinders this movie somehow.

The Woman in Black

A young lawyer travels to a remote village where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman is terrorizing the locals.

Gunday 2014

6.5/10
Good movie for time pass ..
i like the story unlike many other indian movies they preferred friendship over love :)
at maximam i would say this movie is worth watching ..
i have changed my parameters of ratings after that humiliation(phata poster nikla hero) from Dhoni bhai ..:)

Wow !

what is this movie about ?

A bank robbery gone wrong. The two robbers, Al Pacino and John Cazale, end up taking the bank employees hostage. Directed by the great Sidney Lumet. One of Pacino's best performance. There is a scene when he is talking on the phone with his boyfriend (his whole reason for robbing the bank was to pay for his boyfriends sex change operation ) perhaps one of the most powerful acting scenes ever.

John Cazale has possibly the most insane list of films in his resume that I have ever seen. One classic after another. It's a shame he is no more else he would have been in even more unforgettable classics. Amazing sense to pick movies this guy had.

Hmmm.... Will have to watch to see whether your ratings are accurate now or not.

You were owned:)))!

'Jai Ho' (2014)

An okay-ish film. I wouldn't quite recommend though if one has better options available.

I got into a fight at a theatre in Toronto during that movie cz this movie was really boring and the whole "thank you mat kaho, instead teen logon ki madad karo" was getting to repetitive some people in the theatre starting making funny comments including myself and this random guy took the whole message too seriously and started swearing out of no where...nonetheless...an okay-ish movie!

Salman khan needs to do something more classy now like an imtiaz ali movie or a rajkumar hirani movie! His movies are becoming to repetitive and the treatment is the same aswell

8.5/10

A brilliant and cruelly underrated paranoid religious horror film from the master of horror, John Carpenter. It's about a priest bringing a professor and his students to an abandoned church whose basement contains a big canister which contains a strange green liquid which turns out to be... Well watch it and find out!

Amazing special effects, a suffocating sense of paranoia and a gut punch of an ending. It's a shame this isn't known enough in Carpenter's filmography. A truly awesome slice of apocalyptic religious horror.

This scene from Godfather II is one of my favorite:

John Cazale (Fredo Corleone): I'm your older brother, Mike, and I was stepped over!
Al Pacino (Michael): That's the way Pop wanted it.
John Cazale (Fredo): It ain't the way I wanted it! I can handle things! I'm smart! Not like everybody says... like dumb... I'm smart and I want respect!

Very underrated actor..

I watched the movie Drive today and it was amazing. One of the great movies of all time. If you enjoyed fast and furious you won't enjoy this it's not brainless action. It's very thought provoking deep and truly brilliant. Truly a treat movie.

sounds interesting

10 / 10 really startled me up :)

Haha! I want to befriend that guy! Must have been some emotional fool like me.

Anyways, here´s what I said about that concept.....

These ratings are just personal views , there are no hard and fast rules. :)

Thank God at least someone agrees with me on something that I have been preaching throughout this thread!

'Main Hoon Shahid Afridi' (2013)

1. Not that I am complaining about it, but seeing the occasional vulgarity and such stuff made me wonder whether it really was a Pakistani film. It happens when what you see on the channels is slightly different - Pakistani films are a rarity anyway.

2. Not that he acted badly, but Humayun Saeed is too inspired by Shah Rukh Khan (and I notice this in TV serials as well). I rate Nadeem very highly and he is a superb actor! Great man! Shafqat Cheema was up to his usual best and wasn't too bad.

3. There was one huge blunder: people hardly knew about Saeed`s past despite him having been a very good international cricketer and of course the "scandal" as well.

4. Amongst a lot of good things in the film was how they showed that a Christian`s faith helps him as the coach arrives to rescue him as soon as he touches the cross in his locket.

5. The Pathan guy, Majeed, was a fantastic addition and quite a character:))).

6. I liked how they showed things to be limited to the Under-19 team and to the level of a national tournament. They usually get over ambitious in the Bollywood films at least when they show things being related to the international/highest level.

7. When we watch our channels, the atmosphere outside is hardly shown except in the case of a bomb blast:(, a protest etc., rallies, or some interviews with the politicians. Since the TV serials are all about fights within the families, you can hardly expect them to show much of the world outside the living room. This film however showed all those fields, hotels, roads, streets, houses etc. which made me develop a strange affection towards the film seeing the homeland.

I am going to be generous and giving it 10 out of 10! Yes, the Pakistani within just woke up!

anyone watched robocop yet? what do you guys think of it? i loved the original have not watched the reboot yet.

I surprisingly enjoyed the Robocop reboot/remake. Don't be deceived by it's PG-13 rating. Robo looks cool- not plastic like in photos.

And Lego Movie is awesome :)

What was the last film you watched? ('Main Hoon Shahid Afridi' 2013)

Afridi has a movie, astakfirullah :moyo

The boy in it was inspired by him. He himself was only in its last film. Sikandar Bakht and Yahya Hussain did the Urdu commentary though in the final:).

Ah` I got very nostalgic watching it, somehow:25:.

Escape Plan -8/10
I liked it .For the first time these 2 came together without the clichés and IMO it worked .

Gunday

Based in Calcutta during its most unsettled times in the 1970s, the film deals with the inseparable life of Bikram and Bala. The story of 2 boys, boys who became refugees. Refugees who became gun couriers. Gun Couriers who became coal bandits, coal bandits who became Calcutta's Most Loved, Most Celebrated, Most Reckless, Most Fearless, Most Powerful

Priyanka chopra plays a police officer in disguise

6.5 / 10

Insidious 2- 7/10

Enjoyed it. James Wan is becoming a master of the genre. I like how they blended the events of part 1. Contains some genuine jumpy & scary moments.

'R... Rajkumar' (2013)

When will Bollywood finally stop showing in films that girls do not get impressed by being chased, teased harassed by boys? Really, this is rather uncomfortable stuff and unreal, too.

How on earth can DHONI183 not like lovey-dovey stuff? I felt that the film was an entertaining one, but the fight there at the end was a needlessly long one and got boring. That scene where the girl´s uncle beats her with a belt was a sad one mind you.

I will give it seven out of 10.

What the hell?!!! Gunday released this year is rated 1.2 on IMDB! #1 on IMDB Bottom 100. Is it that bad? Cause it's getting good to average ratings here. I thought it would be more along the 5-7 range. Could someone tell me what's so bad about it cause I am suddenly interested? :ibutt

American Hustle was disappointing. Was expecting a lot more.

Amy Adams annoys me though. Not sure why. She just has one of those faces.

Don't be followed by these guys ratings of films.

Firstly Bollywood is rubbish.

Secondly a certain type of male watches the films so devotedly, if you don't swing that way I'd stick with IMDB.

I was curious as well reading this yesterday on IMDB. Yet to watch it though.

To date, I have watched only one Bollywood film and that's Gangs of Wasseypur after my Indian neighbours showed me that. It was terrific. Haven't watched any others. But I doubt this movie is more rubbish than legendary trash like Troll 2 and Ulli Lommel's Eurotrash.

It is not a bad movie. It is a massala movie .

A bit of this , a bit of that , reminds me of Manmohan Desai movie. A good time pass:)

Gangs of Wasseypur is not a commercial movie exactly , it was acclaimed by critics:)

7/10

A creepy chiller made by the great John Carpenter immediately after the classic Halloween. I am on a bit of a Carpenter-binge these days. The plot concerns people of a town by the bay attacked by something in the fog. Slow beginning, but a terrific build-up and suspenseful end. Great cast filled by mom-daughter duo Janet Leigh(Psycho) and Jamie Lee Curtis(Halloween also by John Carpenter), Tom Atkins, Hal Holbrook and the likeable Adrienne Barbeau.

Carpenter was in the middle of a streak here with terrific movie after movie- Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween, The Fog, Escape From New York, The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, Christine, Starman, Prince of Darkness, They Live. Wow!!!

A remake came out in 2005. Has a 3.4 rating on Imdb. STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THAT!!!

Robocop- great movie, abit dull and weary but realistic and brutal

Lego movie- story line copied from that one with jolie and mcevoy in it or even the one about the bulletproof nun, so it was crap , film is laced with dry humour though and batman is funny as hell

I want to watch imtiaz's ali highway next
