Watched a few over the last couple of days :-

Narnia Prince Caspian with the kids. I thought it was good, but it overdid the battles and violence - 7/10

Journey to the Centre of the Earth starring Brendon Fraser - It was ok for the kids, must admit I fell asleep towards the end - 5/10

Eden Lake - A Brit horror film which I really enjoyed. Its about a couple who are basically in the wrong place at the wrong time and get on the wrong side of a group of young thugs. Definitely worth a watch if you like horror films - 8/10

We watched a film with Will Smith in it. It was that rubbish that I cant remember the name of it.

He plays a futuristic superhero who can stop trains and trucks an can fly.

It was utter garbage, not funny, just cheesy with some terrible acting. 3/10

Hancock?

'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye' - Nothing special apart from few tricks done by the hero, Abhey Deol, to steal things etc. I give it five out of ten.

'Ek Vivah.... Aisa bhi' - A typical Soraj Bharjatiya film. Extremely boring. I will give it four out of ten.

Not enough cheesy dancing around trees for you? :D

Hancock is the film

I thought it was a decent film - started off really well BUT then fell apart the 2nd half of the film

ya when charlize theron has powers too, made it crap

Bachna Ae Haseeno. It was pretty good, but maybe I'm a bit biased; after all, it had Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone, and some other hot girl in it. The plot wasn't bad either :D

I'd give it a 7/10.

I also saw The Machinist. That is one messed up movie man, Christian Bale is a tremendous actor. He lost like 60 pounds for his role; has to be the most dedicated actor in Hollywood today. Anyways... the movie was very creepy, so it did it's job perfectly.

I'd give it an 8.5/10.

Watched "Nick & Norahs Infinite Playlist". About the NY music underground. Nick plays in "The Jerkoffs" band and has an ex- (Tris) who gets jealous when one of her friends (Norah) gets too friendly with Nick. Everyone is out to track down a band playing that night.

I'll give it a 8/10 (due to a Tris's seduction dance to win Nick back. Did it work? Watch the movie ...).

EMI, a Bollywood film. Quite a good, funny film it is:). Sanju Baba did well:19:. A funny film made on a small purpose. Though the end could have been better.

My rating:

Seven and a half out of ten.

Being Indian doesnt always have to mean bollywood mate

Just watched Slumdog Millionaire. Really enjoyed it. A very different film, well worth watching.

You are right, it could also mean Tollywood, Mollywood etc etc.

You and I are on the same page mate, its just that our interpretation of that page is slightly different.

To me, Indian movie is a movie copied(i won't use written), directed & produced by Indians and is meant for Indian movie market.

To me, Slumdog Millionare is a british movie (produced & directed by Brits) with a subject matter related to India.

Hence not an Indian movie. :)

Well it is atleast based on a book by an Indian author. So you can't completely rule out the Indian connection as far as the story input is concerned.:)

Just got back from the movies watched "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" directed by Aditya Chopra (Yash Chopra's son) and being just his 3rd film after DDLJ and Mohabbatein!

Starring the obvious one in the Yash Raj camp SRK and introducing Anushka Sharma who was kept very low key as not many knew about her...She was cute!

Overall a good film a bit different so not a bad one at all!

Just got the chance to watch American Gangster.
Good movie, well acted and directed but then again with Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott you wouldn't expect anything else. Based on a true story about Frank Lucas, an afro-American who in less than 4 years becomes the biggest druglord in the country, even more powerful then the Mafia!!!

Only thing about the movie that puzzled me was the ending where it said 75% of the Drug Enforcement Agency were in someway connected to corruptive activities and with the help of Frank Lucas were bought to justice, HOWEVER there was no mention of what happened to the military personnel that were helping Lucas to get the stuff from Asia onto the US streets. I take it they got away free.

Yes American Gangster was a pretty good film. Wife thought it was rubbish but she never likes violent films.

Just seen Mamma mia on bluray. Wife wanted to see it and I reluctantly agreed. Sad to report that I actually enjoyed it!

Last desi film was Rab ne bana di jodi starring SRK and some fit new girl. Enjoyed that one as well.

Bollywood is in India, therefore it makes it an Indian movie.

Thanks for proving my point.

I am not taking the credit away. I am just saying that its not exactly an Indian movie. :)

I just watched The Shawkshank Redemption.

Pretty much speechless right now.

Watched the Prestige on the recommendation of the board.

Brilliant Film.

I thought they spelt the ending out a bit too much. If they kept the following two scenes out of the movie it would have been much better,

Where Cain's character asks to meet the lord and he gets refused. That gave it away that the Lord is (who he was).

They shouldn't have shown Borden telling the weird guy to live his life for the both of them.

Taken - Fairly good action movie.

Traitor - Good movie about suicide bombers, Don Cheadle does a good job.

Both are recommended.

I LOVE that film! Probably seen it at least 10 times!
Yeah, it was pretty much amazing!

The scene where he goes through the tunnel of sh|t and discovers freedom in the rain is mesmerizing; brilliant cinema.

just watched The Dark Knight on Blu Ray...again amazing movie..seen it 5 times already

He crawled through a tunnel of **** and came out clean on the other side. Amazing movie, like most movies based on stephen king's novels.

Right now i'm watching the green mile, also based on a king novel, not as good as Shawshank but really good.

Very confused, was Capote gay?
I didn't finish the movie but the way he was, he looked let's say comfortable with it. It was interesting but fell asleep. But that Hoffmon guy is a good actor

Watch The Mist..another fine King horror.

Watched Lakeview Terrace with Samuel L Jackson. Superb film exploring racism from a different angle - this time from a black policeman. Really enjoyed it 8.5/10

Also watched The Strangers. This is based on true events allegedly about 3 people who break into a couple's holiday home and terrorise them. Quite scary in places and definitely one for the horror fans - 7.5/10

Watched Yuvraaj last night. I'm not exagerrating when I say this was absolute rubbish and I mean utter garbage. For a film with such high profile actors, Subhash Ghai as the producer I was expecting better. What ensued was a film that was one of the worst I have seen in ages - 2/10

Glad you liked it... but I dont understand what exactly u found wrong in the movie.. can you elaborate those two scenes again...

We watched a superb film called Mirrors last night.

The film is a horror flick starring Kiefer Sutherland about a empty building that holds quite a few secrets from its past.

A must watch for horror film fans - 9/10.

I saw it, it's good and scary. 8/10.

Plus his wife is hot :D

Saw Bedazzled, a 2000 comedy starring Elizabeth Hurley and Brendan Fraser. Great comedy, good laughs. 8/10.

Also... Elizabeth Hurley. Enough said, really. Elizabeth Hurley.

He's basically saying that Nolan should've left a little unanswered and left it for the audience to figure it out. Makes it more intriguing that way for sure.

Saw Harsh Times, a movie with Christian Bale.

It was awful and his acting was very mediocre. 3/10.

I'm a huge fan of him but his acting was just wrong in this movie, seriously.

whhhaaat, i liked that movie, he was good in it.... do u realise he has a thick british accent and has lisp... even with that he can talk with thick american accent... i thought that the movie was decent 7/10

The only reason you could even think it was decent would be Eva Longoria. And even that's pushing it a little. I just think he's a far better actor than what I saw in this movie. Maybe it was the mediocre script.

The Machinist. Amazing movie more so for the effort Bale put into getting into character. Recommend it.

The Mist - not a bad movie at all. That Mrs. Carmody character was annoying and i am glad she was shot in the head.:P

But the ending was too dark for my liking.

Just watched Peter & The Wolf on Channel 4..stop-motion animation..brilliant!

Very good, I agree. Top acting from Bale.

Saw it today, it was really good. But the ending was too dark for me also, don't want to spoil it for anyone but i couldn't believe he did that.

Also saw pineapple express recently, funny and random. The fight scene with the two dealers and seth rogen was hilarious. Some parts of the movie were a little weak though, like the start where they have the private testing weed for the first time.. that could have been much funnier. 7/10

Totally agree. Brilliant efort.

Just watched Casino Royale -- James Bond redefined.

Good watch, Daniel Craig was good in his first Bond outing.

Quantum of Solace was not so bad either...lacking a little in storyline, but DC was fabulous again

Dostana - enjoyable

Watch American Psycho. It's a work of art and it's Bale at his finest.

BTW, Patrick Bateman= :afridi

Watched an old one last night. The Outsiders. About young people living on different sides of town. It has many actors who made big since. good movie.
Will watch "Rumble Fish" this weekend. Something which may sound similar to Outsiders as one of the main actor and director is same and came a year or two after Outsiders

There was a book for the movie too right, Outsiders? I think i read it in grade 9.

yes it is made on some book. Movie is dedicated to a librarian and some students who recommended the book be made a movie. That is what the movie said

Easa said:

Yes she was quite easy on the eye.

Saw Chengeling yesterday starring Angelina Jolie. Based on a true story and set in 1920/30s Los Angeles where the LAPD are very corrupt. Her son goes missing and it portrays the events surrounding how she was treated by the LAPD etc.

A very interesting film and one that I certainly would recommend - 8.5/10

Watched The Wrestler and JCVD last night. The Wrestler was pretty rubbish tbh, just tired cliches one after another masquerading as a dark, gritty expose of small time pro wrestling. No idea why it's being talked about as a contender for a shedload of Oscars.

JCVD on the other hand was surprisingly good and Van Damme's performance is (stop laughing now) actually better than Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler.

Watched the last of my Xmas vaction films last night.

A film called Blindness starring Julianne Moore. It was awful really was. A film about a virus that makes people go blind - wiping out a whole city and forcing the army to setup hospitals for the blind. This film focuses on the chaos after the virus breaks out.

One to avoid - 4.5/10

The Day The Earth Stood Still at BFI IMAX . I like the movie and agree with Keanu/Klaatu: this earth is too precious, we humans don't deserve it. Pity it didn't end 'I am Legend Style' with much reduced world populace.

Watched 'Amistad', a court room drama about abolishment of slavery, you can't go wrong with Steven Spielberg, 8/10.

'In Bruges' is also highly recommended for those who haven't seen it yet.

Shoot on Sight - absolutely terrible movie, but not because of the subject matter...bad acting (except Mr. Shah) and an extremely weak plot

The Accidental Husband - typical RomCom, nothing special

Watched Amelie......a simple movie but it had me hooked for some reason.:)

This is definitely the best scene in the movie.
