Transformers 3

was okay.. didnt blow me away or anything... good timepass, action flick... 6.5/10

Saw Let The Right One In...really fun movie...and I'm not usually a fan of vampire stuff...beautifully filmed and the love connection was sweet and really worked well...

Saw a couple of Colombian flicks...La Sierra is a seriously good documentary...following the lives of paramilitaries in Medellin...having spent some time in that city I wished I had seen it before I went...a really tragic country...

Satanas is a cool flick...really focuses on what happens when people reach their peak of unhappiness...whats disturbing is the main character is actually real...the last half an hour in particular is brilliant...

The Lives Of Others is outstanding...you could feel what it meant to be under the Stasi and the mix between genuine work and fulfilling the agenda of someone corrupt...films were characters develop conscience are well appreciated...

Saw A Secret In Their Eyes...another good flick...worked on many levels...it was powerful, the romance worked, there was humour...and the backdrop of the Argentinian dictatorship pushed the story forward well...

Delhi Belly - Absolutely rubbish, it's certainly not a family film and I simply didn't enjoy it.

The Ring - Apparently it received horror film of the decade... HOWEVER after watching the film, I don't see how and why it received that specific award but the storyline is very good.

Bol - Watched it in Cineplex in Islamabad, enjoyed the film... Thought the storyline was very good and all the of songs were brilliant.

Watched Delhi Belly over the weekend and found it to be massively overhyped. I have nothing against the content of the movie and I believe it is a good thing that boundaries are being pushed in this regard but the movie just didn't do it for me. Just another below average movie from the Aamir Khan camp like Peepli Live and Dhobi Ghaat.

watched Perfume- the Story of a murderer

great movie, good story... recommended

8/10

Amreeka- Brilliant film. The acting was very good. Those who have Netflix accounts should definitely watch this!

Watched Murder 2 last night. One of the better movies to have come out of Bollywood in recent times. The villian was super creepy and I guess that's why the movie works.

Seen a couple of Indian flicks which were really good...

Firaaq deals with the aftermath of the Gujurat riots from the point of view of various characters who have all been effected in different ways from a child who has been orphaned, to a wealthy Muslim man married to a Hindu, to a couple who has returned from hiding to a charred house...the stories are believable and you really get a feeling for how tough an environment it was to be a Muslim there at that moment in time...

Hazaaron Kwaishein Aisi was a really good flick on the Marxist Naxalite movement...I liked how it exposed some armchair revolutionaries and the relationship between the main three characters who all carried different ideals and visions of the world worked really well...

Bolivia is an Argentinian flick on a Bolivian immigrant working illegally in an Argentinian cafe...it examines racism by the Argentinians towards immigrants and in many ways is an Argentinian version of Do The Right Thing...but in many ways is superior...the racism is subtle and less dramatic...well worth a watch if films on race are of interest...

Shaithan-- one of the best bollywood movie that came out in recent times. It is not typical bollywood...its a new age cinema bollywood is opening up to lately. Movie deals with 5 freinds and events in their life after one mistake on a fatefull nite. "khoya Khoya chand" fight sequence is one of the best cinematic works I have seen come out of bollywood...People who like different movies and are looking for movie with characters..charecterizations...some superb taking...Watch it. Dont watch it with family..movie is full of abusive language and drugs.

Just came back from watching Harry Potter DH2!!

The movie was FANTASTIC. A great end to one of the best series of all time. The ending was superb!..and I was never expecting the Snape story (I never read any of the books and avoided spoilers :D).

but wow..everybody applauded at the end! Had a such a fun time..
10/10

Must watch!

Zookeeper - I am fan of Kevin James, thus I thought it was funny. The movie didn't really have much of a story and the talking animals bit has been done too many times. Still, Kevin James provides the laughs as usual.

Horrible Bosses - Hilarious. Simple as that. Definitely worth a watch for the lulz.

Delhi Belly - Inappropriate and crude, yes. However, it was a decent watch. Some people have overhyped it to the max, but if one watches without high expectations, it ain't too shabby.

Murder 2 - As I said above, it's a nice watch. The villain played his role to perfection.

Yacoubian building 2006 - a fine egyptian film focusing on the lives of the cairos buildings multi class inhabitants. Tells the story of the many aspects that are wrong and plague egyptian society today. Some excellent performances esp from adel imam who plays zaki pasha who was mesmerising

Very very good 9/10

Pineapple express 2008 - starring seth rogen a good time pass comedy film with some genuine funny moments

7/10

Public enemy 2002 - a hit korean film about a nut job of a cop on the case of a psycho serial killer Didnt knw wt to make of this Seemed a bit of a mismash of a film with out of place comedy thrown in at regular intervals

A strong lead performance stand out in a weak script

6.5/10

The wrestler 2009- an excellent film starring mickey rourke who gives a brilliant performance as an aged lonely wrestler Wrestling has been his life but as his body starts to fall apart on him he tries to connect with the people with any value in his life

Great storyline and a powerful performance make this film a must watch

9/10

Good movie. The ending was kinda cheesy though.

Was pretty average imo. Too much Harry focus and if you'd read the books you would've been slightly dissapointed. The ending was also hilarious given they still looked in their early 20s ... with kids :waqar

Martyrs - An intense, visceral and a brutal horror film. I thoroughly enjoyed it but it's not for the faint of heart.

Harry Potter - the best movie of the lot, but having said that, i was disappointing with the end.
Voldy doesn't die like he does in the book, which was brilliantly written by JK, the movie doesn't bother to explain why Harry doesn't die when Voldy kills him in the forest (because Voldy has Harry's blood and therefore Lily's protection flowing in him) and ofcourse, in the end, everyone except Ron looks the same age which was a bit of a joke.

The Stoning of Soraya M. (2008) - 10/10, When it finishes your eyes will be moist.

Shohreh Aghdashloo's voice is so deep, husky and raspy I love hearing her talk.

Bhuddah Hoga Tera Baap - I watched with low expectations, but it was actually thoroughly good. Very good acting from Amitabh Bachchan.

Loved that movie. Had some funny one-liners.

In the end, When Amitabh decides to let that one guy go and tells him that he can be the leader of the mafia now...the guy replies by saying something in a hilarious way..cant remember what he said, but I laughed so hard :)))

I felt bad for that guy. :)))

I enjoyed the movie too. Wouldn't say I loved it like my mom and sister did, but it was funny and entertaining!

Dont know why my mom loved it too! It was nothing special. Just good comedy thats it.

I think maybe because the movie was solely based on Amitabh. Something the oldies havent seen in a while. :))

Haha yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what it was...plus my mom has a little crush. We watched the film Thursday night and my mom STILL can't stop talking about it. And now she's in the mood to watch a bunch of old school Amitabh films.

[*]Zindagi na mile dobaara
[/LIST]

The second one is a good movie :)

How good? I wanted to go cinema to watch it after I saw this MANTAL BOWYS trailer but I've heard it's boring?

I enjoyed "Adjustment Bureau", but I am a Matt Damon fan. :D

lol it was good as a time pass but so many plot holes! Couldn't understand why they didn't just 'reset' him as they kept threatening to do

Zindagi Na milega dobara is really good....the new Dil chahta hain!!

Enjoyed it thoroughly...

Happy even mainstream bollywood is more frequently moving away from silly love drama and dances these days!!

Watch it....fun movie dealing with very simple life lessons.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. A really good movie. Has been directed by the talented Zoya Akhtar, whose debut movie was Luck by Chance. Also features two of my favorite actors, Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar. Both of them do a really good job. I am no fan of Hrithik Roshan but he wasn't that bad in the movie either.

I watched Horrible Bosses yesterday. It's definitely an adult movie with lots of dirty humor, but I absolutely loved it! Very funny.

Did anybody see the unrated trailer of the new Justin Timberlake and Mila kunis movie? :D

Saw Martyrs based on recommendations on here ...twisted and brutal and the two parts worked well...I especially liked the long periods of silence in the second half which made the scenes all the more powerful...the conclusion also leads to discussion which is good...

Also saw A Serbian Film which I felt was a brilliant film especially when one considers it was allegorical...its been dismissed as being exploitative but I felt it was effective due to their being an underlying meaning behind all the depravity...definitely not for everybody this film...

Finally watched it. Twisted and brutal like you said. I did'nt enjoy it that much tbh, but was worth a watch.

Seriously shocking movie shaykh, I couldn't watch much more after the initial shock-scenes.

Just saw the trailer and read some of the comments on Youtube about it.

That is some demented movie.

How does it compare to Ichi The Killer or Visitor Q?

Visitor Q is comparable in terms of twistedness and the fact that they are allegorical...however Visitor Q is a dark comedy sort of in the Man Bites Dog mode...A Serbian film actually has some funny moments but its not intended to be amusing imo...there are no happy parts to this movie...

The only comparison to Ichi is that they are both extreme in their violence and in regards to the 2nd half fast paced...

Its an example of the 'extreme' genre but with an intriguing plot and some decent twists...

'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' 2011 (Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, Katrina Kaif)

The basical idea was commendable ("no fear in life"), it was entertaining in parts but still not a well implemented film. For a "cool dude" film, it was way too long and went off-track on many occasions. A few things could have been left out.

Adjustment Bureau - very good but they could have done soooo much more with it.

Gonna watch all the movies suggested by Shaykh. Seems like he has a great eye for em.

Lol it doesn't really get started till the second half...

Yeah, was referring to the initial scenes where the main guy looks back and realises what happened ... the twist in the end was nuts, but very very disturbing. Note to self - Never watch a movie after being dared by a friend lol
