'Aaarakshan' 2010 (Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Manoj Bajpai, Prateik Babbar)

A fantastic film which highlights the problems that exist within countries such as India:14:. Amitabh Bachchan with this performance just further confirms that he is matchless by far and deserves a National Award for this one:19:.

The end could have been better and the length was a little too much for the generations of nowadays. All said, I would like to hold my guns for a film-maker (Prakash Jha) who made it for a noble cause.

Had been waiting for this film since a long time......

saw 25th hour the other night, the more edward norton films i watch the more i like the guy, hes a seriously good actor.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - excellent, Kate Winslet was amazing as always.

By far the best actress in Hollywood these days.

Foz - had never seen them, long nights in Ramzan so thought might as well check 'em out now.

Everyone liked Planet of the Apes?

Tbf I only watched for Franco and Felton. The movie was good but it was too short and had a weird cheesy ending.

Maybe not cheesy, but possibly bananas :))

But yes, setup nicely for part 2 where the guys on the space rocket come back down and find that humanity is decreasing or has decreased because of the virus and the apes are runnin tings!

Persepolis 2007

animated film about a young iranian girl brought up during the revolution.

An entertaining and informative film which tells the story of the revolution and how she and her family lived through it The film also depicts the culture clashes she experiences, all this in the backdrop of her daily trials and tribulations

very well presented and a good watch

8.5/10

Few months ago I watched "Unstoppable". I was surprised as it was kind of remake of an old Indian movie called "The Burning Train".

Ready, with Salman Khan (and Asin )
Quite good, didn't expected a lot from the guy who made Singh is Kingh, No Problem & Thank You. :raza

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo 2009 - A swedish Murder mystery / thriller about a mismatched pair that come together to solve a 40 yr old puzzle

Intense, riveting and absorbing are three words that came to my mind whilst watching this top notch film. The performances are great esp the lead and the direction of the storyline excellent.

A slight criticism is that the film is overlong However putting that aside the film is among the best ive seen of its type in recent memory

Hollywood is a planning a A list remake Need i say more?

Watch the trilogy. Top notch.

I have high hopes for the Hollywood remake, only because David Fincher is directing all three films.

Oldboy..again.

Also just read Spike Lee is directing the remake with Josh Brolin as the lead and maybe Christian Bale as the villian. Interesting.

The boy in the striped pyjamas 2008

World war 2 tearjerker about 2 8 yr old childrens friendship in germany- one a german and the son of a nazi commander, the other a jew in a concentration camp

unfortunately the whole crux of the film is built on a massive liberty taken with the storyline and this is so huge that it affects the credibility of the film

The end result is it renders the message and point of the film useless just because the storyline is unbelievable - it just wouldnt have hsppened

Well acted but the storyline is really poor

5/10

Thor

2.5/5

decent flick

Also watched 'Dinner with Schmucks' must say it was much more funnier than Bheja fry.

Revanche 2008

Austrian oscar nominated drama about how the lives of two couples connect and shatter after a crime thats goes horribly wrong

This is a well directed slow burner that deals with faith, sex, crime, revenge and anguish and potrays the story very effectively

well acted and nicely paced this simple film does rely on a coincedence that is a little implausible but if you can see past that then its a very rewarding film

7.5/10

Watched Crazy Stupid, Love. Awesome acting by Carell and Gosling, 8.5/10 . Gosling has turned into such a fine actor, his Blue Valentine was so original and realistic.

The man from nowhere 2010 This highest grossing domestic korean film of the yr tells the story of a man with a dark, anguished past who goes after a group of gangsters who ve kidnapped a neighbours daughter

If korean films do anything well its the dark, violent action films so in that context this film was a little disappointing

First the plus points The actions good - the end fight scene is quite a standout, its well also well acted esp by the young girl But Theres nothing knew storyline wise on offer here

There are a few too many unnecesssary characters which muddle up the story which also seemed contrived The film throughout felt as tho it was trying too hard and as a result failed to make a connection

Everything in the film ws decent but for fans of korean cinema nothing jaw dropping or new

in the end its a decent dark action film if a little hollow n run of the mill

Band Baaja Baaraat. The movie was a decent fun. Nothing spectacular or unique. BUT I must say that I loved both the lead characters. Itna chichorapan! Felt like they just started filming an average guy and a girl in Delhi living their daily life. And if Ranveer Singh is not an actual sadak chap in real life, then this guy can act!

I saw the devil 2010

A korean bloody revenge film with a twist from the director of a tale of two sisters and the good the bad and the weird

The film follows a police agent who chases and catches up with a serial murderer who has sliced and diced his pregnant wife

"Spoiler Start" but the twist in the film is that instead of carrying out the murder, his lust for a fitting revenge leads him to commit extreme violence on the murderer and then let him go only to catch up with him again multiple times "Spoiler End"

Even by korean standards the guts and blood on show here is quite disturbing The twist on the revenge is fresh and successfully works in the film The main characters are strong and the film
on the whole is gripping However in all the gore it seems the director let the script go in parts -

"Spoiler start" the film was spoiled by adding in unnecessary extra depraved serial killers just for the sake of added gore n blood. The microphone scenes is laughable and the lack of a visible police presence when multiple murders are being committed also spoil the believability of the film""Spoiler end"

This film shouldve been up there with the vengeance trilogy However in the end its still a effective and gripping squeamish revenge film Good if not top notch!

Everyone should see "the girl next door" -- 2007 NOT 2004 one ...... it will leave you feeling disgusted to think we have some elements like that in every society and it's shocking that this exists even today....based on the actual events & novel by Jack ketchum

Interesting, i thought it was a lot better than what your review suggests but it's all subjective, i guess.

Fair enough review but I Saw The Devil blows the Vengeance Trilogy out of the water and virtually any other revenge driven movies i've seen imo.

This takes retribution to a level i've never seen in a movie.

The only comparable flick i can think of is Old Boy but that lacks the raw energy or the action of I Saw the Devil.

Anyway, it's always interesting to read people's reviews and it's all personal choice i guess.

I watched Blitz movie of Jason Statham and it was pure crap......didnt liked it.

Has anyone watched MATCH POINT? awsome movie it is

Watched Tom, Dick & Harry, funny dialogues but the storyline is bakwaas.

The Town, one of my favorites from 2010 (the year of brilliant movies)...Its a fantastic movie and the robery scene at the end is also pretty slick..

I think the let down here for me was the fact that the storyline didnt offer anything knew To be top notch id at least want something to blow me away scriptwise Everything in the film was good but nothing wow or something i hadnt seen before!

yes the retribution method here was fresh and on par with oldboy in its uniqueness Its something new, wow and not run of the mill However the one or two plot holes i mentioned in the spoiler earlier lower it from being a masterpiece to a good film

The vengeance trilogy esp the first two were unique in the fact that they were pretty much perfect films -they offered something pretty mindblowing and the script was watertight

Here i just felt the script played second fiddle to the revenge and let the film down from being an absolute perfect film

What do u make of the validity of the points ive made?

You made me excited. Look forward to watch it soon. BTW you are a girl right? :D

Watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Was kind of stupid, don't know why it got such good reviews.

The whole movie could have been made without Freida Pinto in it. She really had no role in that movie at all. Also, I laughed during a scene when the 'smart ape' was riding on a horse, charging towards humans lols

I get the whole 'use your imagination' in these types of movies and all, but this one just didn't make sense in terms of the plot.

James Franco looked nice in the movie though

Contagion. In a theater. How I wish I wouldn't have been able to say that :(.

It's a movie you might watch when you're alone at home one night, with nothing to do, flipping the channels, and just want to get an hour or two out of the way. Definitely not much of an experience. The performances and stuff are not bad. But the trailer is EXTREMELY misleading.

The plot was excellent, fits in well as a prequel to the original..with a few references to that movie. It fills in the gap as to how apes took over the planet. Much better than Tim Burton's effort.

I agree though that Frieda Pinto was out of place.

Well the whole point of the series is that it's about monkeys acting like humans Its not gonna be realistic now is it?

I think they did a good job in that context

I think they make a lot of sense and and now i know where you are coming from i agree with some of your points.

I think you rate movies based on script primarily whilst i tend to base them on their genre and then if there are plot holes i can forgive that to a certain extent as long as they deliver on their specified genre. The only reason for this is i tend to get bored easily (lol).

Having said that and re-reading your reviews carefully i can understand why you have scored them the way you did.

Cowboys and Aliens

very good, up there with Rise of the Planet of the Apes and X-Men : First Class this year IMO

Bodyguard - Overall not that great apart from some funny scenes. Another stupid typical Salman flick
