Dead Snow is another good norwegian horror comedy. Absolute mayhem in the last half hour and an ending which is darkly humorous.

Taken 2... Just saw first 20~30 seconds. At Janazah (Muslim Burial) some Albanian Mafia were burying their dead ones and swearing vengeance to 55 y/o Amreekan hero who had killed them all, and I was like Ok... W*T*F.

Awful crap!

Closed VLC and deleted the .MP4 file :D

What were you expecting? A romantic comedy or something.

Headhunters

Been wanting to watch this for a while, a norweigan thriller about a headhunter/thief whos extravagant life changes dramatically when he decides to steal a rare and very valuable painting

Entertaining, slick and full of violence, this was a good watch however the storyline is more than a little unbelievable and absurd

7/10

i totally agree

My Django review......

Negatives
-Tarintino's use of the N word
-Tarintino's SHOCKING Aussie accent!
POSITIVES
-Very good movie (enjoyed much more than I thought I would)
-Epic soundtrack
-My funniest bit, Don Johnsons (Big Daddy) 5 min argument with his clansmen about the holes in the hoods being to small and they can't see out of them.
-Jamie Foxx shooting red necks :-P
- Dr Schultz - everything about him
-Franco Nero's guest appearance

Love this track, was played during a very emotional scene during the movie...

Django unchained 10/10 wat a film oscar noms for di caprio and jackson for sure this is the best film of 2012 for sure

Finally got round to watching The Prestige.

First thing I have to get off my chest is that the music was nowhere near as strong as usual with Nolan, so that was a disappointment. I can't recall one standout track, let alone the usual three or four.

And the ending asks a little too much of the audience. I enjoyed the dualism and doppelganger ideas because they were philosophically relevant, but by the time all of the supernatural extras had been dealt I was exhausted.

Nolan's storyline is at odds with his themes; the film unfolds like the three stages of a magic trick it introduces (the pledge, the turn and the prestige), a beautifully analogous narrative structure indeed - but stage magic relies on the willing suspension of disbelief of the audience, and my own suspension of disbelief was slightly unwilling during the credits.

Still, an undeniably strong production of high quality actors, and an ambitious script of jealousy, paranoia, obsession, duplicity, wizardry and metaphysical dilemma that I predict will age well. As in Memento, the quirkiness, bitterness, and will for catharsis in human nature seems Nolan's key psychological concern. Jackman and Bale meanwhile competently portray the blurring of good and evil: I was unsure of whom to boo and whom to cheer.

Four stars out of five.

Anyone here seen the hindi movie "Oh My God"? Pretty bold for a hindi movie and a satire on orgaized religion

Zero Dark 30 8/10 (watched it online very good quality for a movie that is not even out in the theatres)

The movie chronicles the years leading up to the night in Abbottabad. For me the movie raised more questions than answers, what I find extremely hard to believe is that a helicopter crashes IN the compound, shots are fired, there is plenty of noice yet the 3 or 4 males in the house are just waiting to be killed, very strange. Its definitly worth a watch but watch it as a hollywood movie skip the part where it says its based on a true story.

Django

Was very decent, probably on par with IB if not better.

Samuel L Jackson was amazing in this lol. Foxx is very talented overall (singer, comedian) but he can definitely act, did a good job as did DiCaprio who enhances every movie he's in. Christoph Waltz was better in IB but great in this as well, good film making as usual by Tarantino, not Pulp/Reservoir standard but a good watch.

I saw Les Miserables last week and really enjoyed it. It's different from the musical, but not in a bad way. One thing I didn't like was the choice of Russell Crowe as Javert. Anne Hathaway's performance was remarkable though.

lol same with my case I was also unsure of it..finally after watching it I chose bale and watched it again.

I saw a film called 'Chained' a DTV release about a cab driver to kidnaps women and kills them.

Was a good film

I lean towards Bale as well, he seems like a daft lager lad who makes mistakes but always has something up his sleeve (ahem), he is clearly the superior magician. Angier meanwhile seems a clever but desperate and nasty man. But I need to watch it again.

Good point I read, their rivalry is like Mozart (the flawed genius) and Salieri (the envious, cunning mediocrity) in Amadeus. Great film if you haven't seen it.

Angier story is more about revenge and nurture rather than nature.

I agree, and though both men lose things, Angier is destroyed.

Nolan likes to discuss bigger themes, seems like here he is warning against the cause-and-effect of revenge crime and the eye for an eye mentality.

i saw the impossible, really enjoyed the the acting(the kid lucas did amazing acting ), story(which is a true story) and camera direction all were awesome

Cube

Interesting movie. Strangers trapped in a never ending cube and have to find a way out without food or water. Every room has a trap , they need to keep an eye on that also.

The Infidel very interesting british comedy. I recommend it highly.

Based in a London suburb Mahmud Nasir lives with his pretty wife, Saamiya, and two children, Rashid and Nabi. His son plans to marry Uzma, the step-daughter of Egyptian-born Arshad Al-Masri, a so-called 'Hate Cleric' from Waziristan, Pakistan. Mahmud, who is not exactly a devout Muslim, he drinks alcohol, and does not pray five times, but does agree that he will appease Arshad, without whose approval the marriage cannot take place. Shortly thereafter Mahmud, while going over his recently deceased mother's documents, will find out that he was adopted, his birth parents were Jewish, and his name is actually Solly Shimshillewitz. He conceals this information from his family, and with the help of his neighbor, Leonard Goldberg, tries to understand the Jews, their religion and even locates his birth-father, who is on his death-bed in a nursing home. Mahmud does not know that Arshad has been checking into his background

The Women on 6th Floor

Paris, in the early 1960s. Jean-Louis Joubert is a serious but uptight stockbroker, married to Suzanne, a starchy class-conscious woman and father of two arrogant teenage boys, currently in a boarding school. The affluent man lives a steady yet boring life. At least until, due to fortuitous circumstances, Maria, the charming new maid at the service of Jean-Louis' family, makes him discover the servants' quarter on the sixth floor of the luxury building he owns and lives in. There live a crowd of lively Spanish maids who will help Jean-Louis to open to a new civilization and a new approach of life. In their company - and more precisely in the company of beautiful Maria - Jean-Louis will gradually become another man, a better man.

Sinister
7.5/10

Creepy little gem. The villain was pretty smart in terms of manipulating the hero who admittedly was a selfish jerk. WILL spawn sequels which will mostly water down the villain till he becomes a joke (Also known as Freddy Krueger syndrome).

Table no 21.

Really good hindhi movie. It has touched upon a serious issue that prevails at most universities in the world not just in India but also in Pakistan. "Ragging is not a joke, but a crime." I have been ragged by my seniors during my freshmen years and it was no fun at all. 18-19 years boys entering into universities could take certain things personally to their hearts. Could easily be mentally screwed. Some students did suicide in real life because of the humiliation and constant ragging up.

Different bollywood stuff. 8/10. Some food for thought.

PS: This practice has been banned at some of Pakistani universities which is a good thing. If anyone gets caught doing it, he or she is going to pay monetary fine for it.

King's Speech.

Too late but watched it finally. Beautiful movie. 9/10 :)

it is banned in India too but no one cares..seniors says they are making us real man ..thank god its over for us now ..early 3-4 months were horrible.

the perks of being a wallflower

emma watson was so brilliant, i mean she even lost her british ascent which isnt easy, movie was so emotional, not a very typical high school romance movie but it moved me a lot, all other young actors were brilliant too, story line impressive, not as loose as typical high school romance movie

9/10

How does it make for family viewing? Please let me know:).

If that family is used to watching Hollywood or Emraan Hashmi stuff, then they can bear a song shot in a bikni and a deep making out scene that lasted only for 30 seconds. The rest of the film is devoid of such stuff. However, if that family is a typical desi family with a chip on their shoulder, they should stay away from it.

What a wonderfully bold and informative post:)! Two things,....

1. We don´t watch Hollywood films.

2. the last Emraan Hashmi that I watched was some 11 months ago......

Here´s what I posted some time back.....

..... The problem here is not about a couple being together in their bedroom, because you realize it immediately and can skip it with a hint being obviously there.

Problem arises when words such as 'condom' are used repeatedly. Some films have a story line which is bound to contain such scenes and references and that is what I avoid. Sometimes, females in the film not covering themselves throughout the film also causes problems. Occasionally, such contents being there for a few minutes is okay since you can skip it but not the entire film or it being basically the theme/topic of a film.

So yeah, can skip the scenes that you have mentioned. But, a film without any big star-cast will only find a lone viewer in me from my family:danish. Thanks anyway:).

Paresh Rawal was there , stole the show with his acting....star- studded cast did not matter anymore. The flick was full of suspense ..you would keep guessing about the ending till the last one minute.
It was not a lengthy movie....moved very quickly.

Saw Tarantino's Inglorious today. Watched it when it came out but this is the first time I've seen it since. Got to say I thought it was bloody brilliant.

If anyone's up for a wider discussion on this let me know. Lots of aesthetic, moral and historical contexts to get to grips with.

Downloaded a decent copy of Django Unchained thanks to torrent, will be watching it 2maro :P

The Game

Interesting movie. I thought it would be a real thriller , suspense ending , But I expected the end to be a little different.

7.5 / 10

I think QT believes this is his best film to date. Although he probably believes that about every film he does.

Loved the ending of it though. QT basically getting Brad Pitt to say out aloud that he thinks he's just made another masterpiece lol the nerve.

I thought the scene at the dinner table and at the pub was quite amazing.

It also lacked the more obvious QT fingerprints which can be a good or thing or not. In this case it was a good thing. A more subtle touch.

I saw 6 movies on my plane trip back.

Lawless. Liked it. Loved Hardy in it. Amazing. Shia has won back some points he lost from everything he has done since Disturbia. And also Oldman limited appearances were exuding class. Guy Pearce shows his versatility yet again. 7/10

Premium Rush only watched this cuz I thought Levitt has made some good choices of late (DKR, Inception, Looper) but was just a disappointing time pass really. 5/10

Perks of being a wallflower. surprised at how good the script was for this. Was very enjoyable and explored some very serious themes. Well directed. Well cast well written and well acted. 8/10 for me.

Seeking a friend for the end of the world Likeable sort of flick. Kiera does a good job in it and so does Steve. 6.5-7/10

Red Lights . a bit of a change in the horror genre. Deniro is in it so was an automatic watch for me. Didn't get to watch the ending but the movie didn't do it for me. The Prestige was a similar sort of story but just a lot better. 5-6/10

Flight word to the wise. Don't watch a movie about a plane crash while on a plane. I thought this was decent. Denzel was good in it and carried the entire movie really. 6.5-7/10

The storytelling through aesthetics and colours, the quality of the script and acting (Christoph Waltz in particular), and the manner in which all of these fed the narrative left me hugely impressed.

The French country cottage and underground pub scenes have been the most lauded, but my personal favourite was Waltz at dinner with the Jewish girl he thinks he knows, choosing to order strudel and cream and making a point of devouring it. Absolutely terrifying! Also thought the final scene however audacious was both satisfying and justified.

Earlier in his career Tarantino had assistance with the scriptwriting, and also had his own image heightened by towering performances from the likes of Keitel, Travolta and Jackson, but through Inglorious he becomes for me a true auteur for the first time. Granted, it's difficult to compare Inglorious itself to Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction because it is so different to them, but from a certain point of view it is his best film.

Then again, my opinion could prove to be unstable: planning to watch Kill Bill Parts I and II today either side of a gym visit. Got the films in a boxset for Christmas and never seen them.

I have been watching old classical movies from 90s and 2000s these days.....Have watched plenty of them......

1.The Silence of Lambs
2.Seven
3.Forrest GUMP
4.V For Vandetta
5.Green Mile
6.Matrix
7.Shaw Shank Redemption
8.American Beauty
9.Before SunSet
10.Memento
11.The Prestige
12.Gran Torino
13.Inglorious basterds
14.The departed
15.Inception
16.The Dark Knight
17.Sherlock Holmes

These are just some of the movies i can recall which i watched or re-watched previous days....

I am sure all of you have watched almost each of this movie ....But if you have missed any of them then you must watch......

^ I have seen all of them except before sunset

I have to say that Before SunSet is not quite upto the same level ....It is called romantic movie but infact it is not romantic...:P

It could prove quite boring for some people......it is just like 120 minutes of time pass discussion on Pakpassion....

Watched Forrest Gump with my mum, and we never liked it as much as everyone else.

Watched Forrest Gump with my mum, and we never liked it as much as everyone else.

I feel......not a movie to watch sitting alongside your mother....Only for the sake of couple of scenes....but only my view it is,you know.....:)

It is quite funny, unique movie...I guess most stories derived from novels are quite bizarre....But i enjoyed Tom Hanks very much...

Well just as he had been supported by great performances in the past I think Waltz delivers for him this time as the greats have delivered for him in the past.

Never seen them? Wow. They're amazing but just has the QT fingerprints all over them. Not like IB.

Just another random fact - all his movies are apparently set in the same world. He has cross references with various characters. Apparently even IB has characters that apparently belong to the same family. Interesting fact I read the other day.

Yeah like Vic Vega (Mr Blonde) from Reservoir Dogs and Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction. QT is a clever boy.

Right, Kill Bill time.

QT also has the tendency to put faded stars in his movies as sort of comeback vehicles. like John Travolta in Pulp fiction, Pam Grier in Jackie Brown, Don Johnson in Django Unchained. Nolan is similar. Rutger Hauer in Batman begins, Tom Berenger in Inception, Matthew Modine in tdkr. Kind of nice that they do that.

QT has amazing sense for good music .. no one can deny it :afridi

and many of the individual scenes in his movies are uberkewl ( QT moments ) and his dark/dry humour is very likable .. like "i shot marvin in his face" , loading chris tucker inside the truck , Mr.Blonde torture scene ... :farhat

Django Unchained - 6/10 :umarakmal

I am disappointed. Its more like a Robert Rodriguez movie than a QT movie.
Not many QT moments. I would rate DU is one of my least favorite QT movie just ahead of Deathproof.

I am a fan of western/spaghetti western genre and there are tons of movies better than this.
But DU is one of the bloodiest movies in this genre. There are blood everywhere in the shooting scenes. :afridi

Seven Psychopaths-8/10

Hilarious, unpredictable, violent. Sam Rockwell gives another excellent performance....and is overlooked as usual by the Oscars.

I so badly want to watch this. What an amazing cast.

There are torrents available. DVD Screeners. Not crappy CAM rips where you cannot even see what's happening. :danish

Killing Them Softly - 7/10. A movie with really no plot. But amazingly it held my attention thanks to the great dialogues. Brad Pitt did a great job.

Zero Dark Thirty - 8/10. A well made film even though it really exaggerated Pakistan. But the story and acting were on point.

Django Unchained - 9/10. Wow, what an amazing film. QT is one of the greatest directors of today and he shows it again. Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Leo DiCaprio all excelled in their roles. Waltz and Leo were phenomenal. Amazing story, action, music etc. Everything about the movie was awesome.

Seven Psychopaths- 8.5/10. Another well made film from the director of In Bruges. It's a great comedy film that makes sense and has a great story. The cast was great. Colin, Rockwell, Walken and Harrelson stood out in their roles.

My Django review......

Negatives
-Tarintino's use of the N word

Maybe you don't know but the N word wasn't exaggerated. White people really did refer to black people as Niggers. Tarantino was just showing the truth.

You've pretty much seen the four movies in my to-watch list.

Must get around to these quick.

Okay so I only managed Volume 1 yesterday. Superb again, particularly the last 40 minutes. Tarantino's mastery of language and his ability to push its boundaries is a signature that takes a back seat for once, to the chronically excessive violence and gore. But of course because it's QT he pulls it off, with more than a small measure of black comedy.

On the issue of these crossovers, I noticed a billboard behind The Bride for Red Apples, the Pulp Fiction cigarette brand.

Following was a good movie by Nolan... it was like a $6,000 movie....so overall good job. Thanks for recommending it here.
