It's what Hitchcock called "A refrigerator movie". Great while watching but plotholes start opening up as soon as you visit the fridge to take out the food to eat. The story could be considered as
probably ramblings of an insane unreliable protagonist but that seems like cheating. Especially the scene with the guy "playing" with the head is rendered unnecessary and exploitative.

The movie is from her point of view and she is obviously delusional so a lot of potholes can be forgiven because of that.

One of the better slasher movies out there. This is the original 1981 horror movie. Better than Friday the 13th IMO. Superb, suspenseful, extremely well directed. Sadly was butchered by the Censor board but released uncut some time ago. Great gore as well. Saw a bluray rip of it. Excellent stuff. The characters also have a degree of depth and not just there to be killed. Recommended if you are in a mood to watch some good horror movie.

7.5/10

Why are there so many horror fans here? My heart is weak, I can only watch one horror movie per month, I'm easily spooked :(

I like Horror movies which are very violent and/or scary. But I HATE horror movies which cross lines just for the sake of it. Like Human Centipede Part II, A Serbian Film. That's not horror and it gives horror a bad name. Of course, if you question their quality, the rabid fans will resort to name calling :zoni

Of course I don't remember a horror movie for the last 20 years which actually had a "happy" ending. These days, there are downright sad endings with hero/heroine dying and villain getting away.

I really like Slasher genre too despite critics scoffing at it.

@Leatherface58

which of the following is the best horror film

The Devil's Rejects- haven't got around to see this but heard that its a love it or hate it movie. Lot of gore.
The Hills Have Eyes -7/10 very violent but not that scary.
The Mist- 8/10 nasty ending
Wolf Creek - haven't seen this for some reason.
[Rec] - the best of the bunch 8.5/10 Saw Part 1 -8/10 not as violent as its sequels. Pretty smart too.
The Orphanage - haven't seen this. Sinister- 7.5/10 damn creepy.

Saw is a thriller mind you. Rec is the best pure horror film of the bunch.

Hey leatherface have you seen this one?

I keep hearing awesome things about it but it has a reputation for being grislier than Irreversible. Haven't got to stomach for it yet. Have any of you?

Lol I was searching about it yesterday. Heard good things about it and for being very disturbing. BTW, Its being remade by the Twilight people and will star Kristen Stewart. So excited..............NOT!!!!!!!

I don't like slasher movies..scream 4 was bad and so was I know what you did last summer

I know what you did.. Is one of the worst slashers. A real snooze fest. Scream 4 wasn't bad. I recommend the original Black Christmas, a really creepy movie. Halloween is so similar to it but Christmas was made 4 years before Halloween.

Martyrs is very disturbing to say the least but also very gripping and intense. Another worth watching is Frontiers and the British movie with a '***' ending....Kill List.

^ Thanks for the tip re Kill List. Will look out for it. Love **** endings.

And re Kristen Stewart in Hollywood version of French gorefest =

I watched Planes trains and automobiles(1987) yersterday....it was on my recommended list in netflix

One of the funniest movies I have seen in a while...

Its really funny despite the age old cliched "odd couple" theme. Steve Martin and John Candy are superb.

House of the Devil

Throwback to good old school horror. Loved it.

I recently saw 'The Dead' which was quite a welcome addition to the Zombie genre. I also happened to meet the director here in Delhi and he was in India looking to shoot a sequel to the film. Yay.

A nasty piece of work, but good.

Argo and Lincoln are top movies but I think Leslie Nielsen is a better fit for Lincoln than Daniel Lewis. The voice is a bit annoying.

Yeah.

Btw for violence you can't go wrong with maniac a stunning 80s trashy horror movie. Includes a scary scene where a man had his head blown off by a shotgun. So realistic!

Ima check it out!btw have u seen sleep tight? Its not scary, nor a slasher movie but its "different".

One of my favorite movies. It does leave you scratching your head. Its wiki page has a very detailed explanation of the whole underlying plot in case you are interested.

I didn't find much that I hadn't understood on the wiki page.
Still can't make sense out of it :P

Zodiac

Nice story .........

A newspaper cartoonist getting obsessed with finding the Zodiac killer, a serial killer.

7 / 10

The Dictator - Horrible and Gross. Funny sometimes though.

Special 26 - Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpai. - Pretty decent movie. Much better than dumb Salman Khan movies like Dabangg, Ek tha Tiger etc....

bollywood is getting smart..they make a lot of dumb movies like race, dabangg, kya kool hain hum...which makes it easier for the alternative cinema guys..any normal movie like kahani or special 26 looks like a breath of fresh air by comparison.. and both are making good money. this is indeed a golden era of bollywood when both kinds of movies are doing good business.

Zero Dark Thirty

7/10 Decent, one time watch. But way too patriotic :ik. Jessica Chastain is awesome in the lead role though. Personally, I liked Dan, the torturer's performance more.

ALL the torrents of that movie have been deleted . I saw it but just saw that torrents were deleted.

Not sure why this is. My cousin was saying saying the same thing today that he couldn't find it anywhere.

Frontier(s): 7/10

Vicious brutal film. You feel drained after watching this lol. Great satisfaction in seeing the bad guys and gals die particularly a vicious subhuman degenerate named Goetz. Not the goriest but certainly the gritty realism and sadism gets to you.

Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)
8.5/10

Splendid, low budget action classic from the great John carpenter. Enormous repeat value due to easy to follow storyline and low budget means more suspense than fancy special effects.

Spread (2009) Ashton Kutcher

rating- 5/10. Do not watch this movie with your family.. lol

Where Do We Go Now?

A lebanese movie in french I found on netflix. Its about horrors of civil war and how it effects women when there men start killing each other and get killed. its shown in kind of humorous style, not dead serious usual way. quite interesting.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1772424/?ref_=sr_1

Christians and Muslims lived peacefully together for years in this small Lebanese village, but animosities begin to build among the men as a result of slights and misunderstandings. The women of the village conspire to avert sectarian strife though a series of harebrained plans, none of which succeeds in slowing down the escalating spiral of violence. When tragedy strikes, the women find themselves driven to make a deeply personal sacrifice for the sake of peace.

The Troll Hunter

A decent but silly norwegian film about a group of students with a camera accompany a troll hunter as he goes about his business

The story itself is pants and the film is overlong tho entertaining in parts, filmed in blair witch style this is a ok effort considering its weak premise

5/10

perks of being a wallflower

touching performance from the lead but a pretty unspectacular film, found it pretty corny at times too.

Just came back from the movie 'Kai Po Che ' and it was just brilliant!!!!

Finally one good movie I liked after Rang de Basanti n 3 Idiots!!! Best movie based on cricket(better than Iqbal). You could sense the chill n shivers in the audience during the climax.

Highly recommended!!

9.5/10

Minus.5 as I felt movie got over too quick as it is only 2 hour movie

Bang Bang you are dead

it is about bullying at school and its long lasting side effects on your mental health

It it a hard hitting movie...a must watch.....i was really moved emotionally in the end

Manhattan Murder Mystery

9/10

What a movie! I had a good time watching this Woody Allen's movie. My first one. A perfect blend of humor and suspense. I did not realize that if both elements could go together hand in hand before watching the movie. Amazing sense of humor!

'Special 26' 2013 (Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Jimmy Shergill, Manoj Bajpayee, Divya Dutta)

An excellent Film! Enjoyed every bit of but the ending was simply a case of out of the box thinking, but so was the whole film.

As one would expect from him, Manoj Bajpayee was simply awesome and his reactions at the end were hilarious:)).

Apart from two scenes, the film makes good for family viewing.

I will give it
8.5/10
