If you liked that them, then watch: Spirited Away (10/10), Howls Moving Castle (10/10) and Arriety (10/10). Fantastic animated movies from Japan.

Check out Grave of the Fireflies its one of the best animated movies I've ever seen.

Also check out My Neighbour Totoro

A future classic. To me, the best movie of the last decade with ''There will be blood'' and ''Prestige''.

Other less good ones are ''The Wolf Children'' ''The Girl who leapt through time'' ''Nausicäa'' and ''Akira'''.

But the absolute best, I would say:

Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
5cm per second
My Neighbour Totoro
Grave of the Fireflies

thanks for the suggestions once again..I have watched more than half of those and they were really good especially the grave of fireflies..everyone should watch it.

Mama - 5/10 Good suspense, horror, thriller.

Kiss the girls - 6/10 Good thriller about missing girls.

Stitches - 5/10 Horror about a clown taking revenge for his death.

Star Trek Into the Darkness - 7/10

The Conjuring - 7/10

Dead Silence - 8/10 From the director of Conjuring. Liked it more than Conjuring.

You're Next=C- Very predictable, a very gory, hardly scary. The Aussie actress carried the movie, she was the only good thing.

Chennai Express-4.5/10.A poor movie.
Cannot understand how this movie overtook 3 Idiots.

SPR was ok but can't hold a candle to the best war film ever made. Thin Red Line.

Apocalypse Now would take this title. But it is more of a literary psychodrama and human study.

Hotel Rwanda.

Brilliant.

aye, watched that ages ago,

one guy at work is from rwanda, a fellow muslim, he was telling me some stories off what happened to his family, really disturbing.
brilliant guy- type of guy always smiling, wont say anything negative

I watched that back in 2004 when it was released. Watched it again today. :afridi

The best war film I've seen is Tae Guk Gi- The Brotherhood of War.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

The Omen (1976) -8/10

Classic religious horror. The decapitation scene and the nanny still give me the chills.

do you guys consider holocaust films to be 'war' films?
i think both the shindler's list and the pianist are much better than saving private ryan

The way of the dragon -8/10 it's Bruce lee vs Chuck Norris how can it not be epic .
The great debaters -9/10 this was fantastic and what made it better was it was based on real individuals .

D-Day - Decent Movie, but nothing great.

For some reason I didn't find Rishi Kapoor to convincing as the Don. He wasn't intimidating at all...

Stupid Chennai Express made 200 crore, 50% of the amount is earned from International market (US/UK and other major countries) and dollar rate played a major role in this.

It was reported in Media today that "Chennai Express" has broken all previous records

It left behind 3 idiotz as well :O

'Satyagraha' 2013

Finally watched a film after a period of four months and around 10 days or so, and it was a good one. A combination of some excellent actors!

1. Director Prakash Jha needs to work on the length of his films in this age.

2. Was going as an above average film but the last 15 minutes or so made up for it and made it look a very good film overall.

3. Kareena Kapoor used the word "khilafat" instead of "mu`khaalfat" for 'opposition':))).

^I have heard people say khilafat instead of Mukhalafat.People mix these two words up.

"Satyaghar" 1/10 Movie is so poor/silly it is laughable. Poor story, poor acting, poor direction and atrocious music. Still can't beat "Once upon a time in Mumbai 2" for silly movie of the year award though.

World War Z - 6/10 Good enjoyable zombie movie.

Psycho 1960 - 9/10 Excellent movie.

Is a hoot good or bad? In Oz most people I know use it negatively.

Interesting word. Means different things in different cultures and langues.

I like the Oxford definition.

noun
a low, wavering musical sound which is the typical call of many kinds of owl.
a raucous sound made by a horn, siren, or steam whistle.

a shout expressing scorn or disapproval:
there were hoots of derision

a short outburst of laughter:
the audience broke into hoots of laughter

(a hoot) informal an amusing situation or person:
your mum’s a real hoot

So, basically, I liked the film.

Mumbai Diaries

1/10

Is this even a movie? seems more like a random documentary of a few random Mumbai folks.

Lol. Amusing. I will use the sentence as directed in the example provided about someone else's mother.

Les Miserable- not my genre, it's a musical.. was forced to watch it but I am glad I watched it. Very good movie. Setup in post-french revolution period, movie has done justice to the history. Brilliant acting by Russell Crowe and Jackman with inspiring performances by Anne Hathway and other supporting actors.

I will give it a 7.9. And 10 for the following song.

I watched Zanjeer what a pathetic movie don't know why PC chose to do this kind of movie 2/10

Being John Malkovich

A puppeteer discovers a portal that leads literally into the head of the movie star, John Malkovich.

A pure fantasy movie, interesting in parts. Can be seen once.

The 12th of September 2013

Yesterday, I watched Patiala House for the second time which, in my opinion, is a wonderful film. I acknowledge the fact that I am being a little controversial in declaring so, but I believe the film to be a captivating experience (I understand many posters will disagree with me) because of the warmth of the story and the films effect to make the audience cry (with its lovely use of traditional music and the relatable emotions which are prevalent throughout the film). As such, despite being relatively cheap on the way in which it displays cricket, I would rate it as an 8/10 for the reasons mentioned above.

Maybe the whole point is that there is no storyline. It was a real war after all, fought by real people.

By storyline, I meant it never really encapsulates the viewer to the film, because it runs a little thin on pulling at the heartstrings and providing emotional attachment to the characters (which I believe could've been improved if some information on the character's background had been supplied).

The Ryan scenario was certainly not the norm, IMO rightly so, and the surviving Ryan in the film feels this way too - he doesn't want to leave his platoon. But apparently there were a few exceptions made here and there.

I totally agree, the belief that saving a solitary life is worth the death of many others is a ludicrous opinion I think. However, it is worth noting one of the captain's main thoughts and morals is that by saving Private Ryan, he would ensure that he completed something wholesome and devoid-of-sin during the war, thus securing his right to return his family (knowing that some good had arose out of such a brutal war).

Satyagraha
7/10

it was a good movie ....(exposing political situation of our countries )

'Aashiqui 2' 2013

It was nice flick :)

The starting scene , in which UK riots were shown looked genuine.

the way, way back

nice enough story but felt like a film i've watched hundreds of times before (generic). didn't take enough risks.

A lovely, pleasant film, almost devoid of any vulgarities.

Similar to you, I also especially enjoyed the beginning moments of the film, which brilliantly encapsulated almost life-like events. Some excellent emotive music was incorporated, which further added to the setting and realistic depiction of events, and I loved the scene where it was raining and one of the Sikh men (I think it was Gurdial Sira) clamoured at the door and stuttered that something had happened to Advocate Saini (which, as we realise shortly afterwards, is his death).

This is the end
8.5/10

Hilarious comedy about Seth Rogen and other members of Apatow troupe like James Franco, Jonah Hill and Danny McBride encounter the apocalypse while partying. Absolutely loved the cameos especially Channing Tatum, Emma Watson AND Michael Cera. Personally among the main cast, I found Danny McBride the funniest with Craig Robinson running him close. Brilliant of the actors to play obnoxious versions of themselves. Some gross disgusting humour but nevertheless the ending is fabulous.

The scent of a woman.

Another masterpiece of Al Pacino. Beautifully depicts the rugged yet passionate wants of a blind person.

9/10

Now you see me

Good different story. Something as unusual as this always stirs a feeling of curiosity and brings attentiveness throughout. But some elements of the movie remained under-emphasised.

7/10

Does anybodby know the name of an Iranian film where a housemaid works for woman that suspects her husband to be cheating on her?

It's a textbook surrealistic movie. It seems like a pretty common bollywood movie grouned in reality but there are subtle hints of what is going on like when an india guy bowls at 88 mph.

Lol I don't even watch Bollywood but this made me crack up. Shades of Fellini or Bunuel I presume? :D

The New York Ripper
6/10

Someone with a Donald duck voice is slashing beautiful women in New York. It's up to an old cop and a young psychiatrist to find out who. Incredibly sleazy and misogynistic giallo with vicious murder sequences. It's competently made but the movie has a certain meanness about it that makes watching it an oddly uncomfortable experience. The ending with the poor little girl is haunting and identity of killer is illogical especially with the reason given.

Some I watched during the last weeks.

Polanski's Rosemary's Baby, 7/10. Enjoyable movie, but I think would have rated it higher back in the days, as it basically changed the whole aesthetics of the horror film genre (the Devil, Antechrist, Black magic, ... all of that was revolutionary, before that we only used to make movies about vampires and werewolves), it basically led the path to The Exorcist/The Omen which released only few years after.

Tod Browning's Freaks, 8/10. He did in 1932 something movie directors today will shy away from ; he used "real" peoples which would respect his movie's title, namely peoples with handicaps and deformities (dwarfs, some missing legs, ...) but the ending was as surprising as the cast... I honestly think that apart from the technical aspect, this movie remains "very 2013".

Godard's À bout de souffle, 6/10. Released in 1960, it's the first feature film of one of French New Wave's main pillars. I gave it 6 because it was pretty "average" (apart from Jean Seberg, obviously) and the script didn't offer much, but like Hitchcock, you can't really understand how innovative (on technical aspects) he was if you're watching it now, especially playing with the camera angles (but then Hitchcock being into thrillers, his scripts are at aleast a-temporal.)

Jean Pierre Melville's Le Samourai, 7/10. The French director is said to be Tarantino's main influence (something that he himself acknowledges) and this movie does remind of his "cold violence".

Does anybodby know the name of an Iranian film where a housemaid works for woman that suspects her husband to be cheating on her?

Faridi's Fireworks Wednesday ?

A Separation was wonderful, rare and difficult to make a good drama movie (ask the French...).

Lol I don't even watch Bollywood but this made me crack up. Shades of Fellini or Bunuel I presume? :D

I uploaded Bunuel's Un chien andalou in HD on Youtube few years ago, and got my account blocked because of that. :asif

Still have to watch some Fellini though. :sachin

"This is the end" 9/10 Nice comedy. Best movie this year.

Cellular 6/10 Watchable thriller about a kidnapped lady.

Premium Rush 4/10 . Was ok but did not like it much.

Parker 5/10 Not bad.

The Stoning of Soraya M.

A drama set in 1986 Iran and centered on a man, Sahebjam, whose car breaks down in a remote village and enters into a conversation with Zahra, who relays to him the story about her niece, Soraya, whose arranged marriage to an abusive tyrant had a tragic ending.

The Intouchables

After he becomes a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident, an aristocrat hires a young man from the projects to be his caretaker.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1675434/?ref_=sr_2

Free Zone

Two women embark on a road trip after they are brought together by circumstance. Rebecca (Portman) flees her hotel after a fight with her mother-in-law (Maura) and hails a taxi driven by Hanna (Lazlo).

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0441761/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

The reluctant Fundamentalist

A young Pakistani man is chasing corporate success on Wall Street. He finds himself embroiled in a conflict between his American Dream, a hostage crisis, and the enduring call of his family's homeland.

A solid movie. Good narration , and very good acting. A realistic movie.

8 / 10

These days were few murder mysteries are made. :(

Mystic river, the girl with the dragon tatoo, the girl with the dragon tatoo, minority report, oldboy, changeling, memento, zodiac, the departed, source code, the ghost writer,...

Thanks ......... I will not have to PAY because I PAID attention to this post :)

Two things though:

1. The music is awesome! Shreya Ghoshal´s voice always adds to the songs you know.

2. May God bless everyone of us with a wife like the one in 'Aashiqui 2' 2013.
