'Bhaag Milkha 'Bhaag' (2013)

An amazingly dull and boring film and it being three hours long didn't help.

Because the movie didn't portray much of a Romance. :yk

it was one of the Better Bollywood movies, and the best of 2013 IMO. The amount of hard work and commitment that Farhan Akhtar has given in the movie is truly amazing

You are somewhat accurate as I am a very romantic man, but that alone is not the qualification for me as I didn´t like 'Aashiqui 2' (2013) either. I think the length was the biggest issue for me and as I have pointed out in my earlier post, I have a general dislike for films made about careers because they usually are boring.

12 years a slave - 9/10

A depressing and brutal but brilliant film about how awful the lives of slaves were in southern part of USA. Amazing acting by the lead actor Chiwetel Eijofor as the poor guy who gets sold into slavery and Michael Fassbender as a psychopathic plantation owner who you wish suffers a lot. Benedict Cumberbatch turns up as one of the more reasonable yet ultimately a bound-by-society type slaver and Brad Pitt as an abolitionist. Special mention should go to the acting of the girl who plays Patsey. It's about as sad and heartbreaking a character as I could remember seeing. Ultimately, a powerful and intense film which will leave an impact on you.

^ Watched it,very emotional film, the scene he whipped the girl (soap)- aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh> felt it. 8.5/10

watched The Butler - decent film, about the civil rights movement, Forest whitaker in it. 6.5/10

Elysium - really enjoyed this, not a massive cgi fan - but it looked great, should have been longer -neededmore of a story line (it lacked fully drawing you in). 8/10

Good Will Hunting - After watching Matt Damon's acting skills in the movie I have become his huge fan now.
I saw his Bourne series.

Any other recommended movies of the same actor?

the one scene that will pbly always stick with me from 12 years a slave is the hanging scene, the squelching of the mud under northups feet, its an amazing analogy for slavery, living moment to moment just trying to survive, maybe im reading to much into it. i still think fassbender stole the show tho.

'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' (2013)

An amazingly dull and boring film and it being three hours long didn't help. A torture! No offence intended to Milkha Singh though, but the film wasn't any good.

I have a general dislike for films about careers because they usually turn out to be boring, and this was no different. I don't think I have ever liked any such film apart from 'Iqbal' (2005).

There was something baffling about the film: how many of those who have seen the film remember the scene about what happens in that tent between Milkha Singh´s sister and her husband? How on earth did Mr. Singh approve that scene?

"The film will not be released unless I approve each and every scene" - Milkha Singh.

Love + hate

Adam has grown up in a racial prejudiced community. Naseema belongs to a generation of Asian youth who have taken up violence. They want to break free of the small town inhibitions and can't avoid their mutual attraction, starting a relationship which threatens to bring down their families and themselves

Blood and Bone -7/10
Watched it purely for the fighting but the storyline was pretty good .

Watched two films in the past few days:

Mimic - which is a science fiction "horror" film - although it isn't particularly scary - about insects which are genetically created initially for the purpose of killing cockroaches carrying a virulent disease but suffer a mutation and set out to destroy their only predator - humans.

Stolen Innocence - about a woman who because of paranoia tries to investigate why her child was allegedly stillborn, but finds all records of her birth have been removed, which makes her seem a murderer.

The latter I'd rate a 6/7 (although it has an interesting story) whereas the first would be a 7.

7/10
A very unique romantic dramedy + sci-fi movie about a love story between a man and a highly intuitive AI operating system. Joaquin Phoenix was splendid and so was Scarlett Johansson(basically voice acting). I found it a bit overrated as it's too slow for my taste. But it's wonderfully touching in places and gets an A+ for originality and providing food for thought. One word to describe this movie would be Melancholic.

Escape plan.. 8/10

Stallone and Arnold just click for some reason(you don't expect two muscle bound mannequins to click the way they do here) and Jim Caviezel's minimalist style works really well here..

The Wolf of Wall Street
8.5/10
Another winner from legend Scorsese. Refreshingly, he doesn't try to humanise the greedy jerk of a protagonist. Leo keeps showing us why is such a legendary actor. Furiously paced and despite clocking at 3 hours, it didn't feel like it at all. A downside is I felt like a distant observer during the movie and didn't get involved probably because there is no one to root for. Still, a great movie and Leo deserves an Oscar. People have won for far far less.

didn't like it. couldn't get passed the bad acting, especially Arnold. once it showed 50cent - o man. 3 of these played intelligent characters

watched bad Grandpa - not a fan off Knoxville, thought this was really funny. a scene where Grandpa gets something caught in a soda vending machine 2funny. 8/10

'Gori Tere Pyar Mein' (2013)

Not much of a story due to which many people may not like it much, but I did because I enjoyed the film. The short length of the film was the best thing about it for me - Bollywood should seriously think about this aspect of films as long films at times end up causing headache.

Imran Khan is such a bad actor! Very annoying.

Anyone see the 2001 film with Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard and Umar Therman? Really interesting film with some polarizing acting.

Need to see this one , heard good reviews :)

Now you see me

An FBI agent and an Interpol detective track a team of illusionists who pull off bank heists during their performances and reward their audiences with the money.

Excellent movie. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It has elements of illusion , action , emotions and mystery.
The ending was also very well executed.

You're Next- This movie has been around for a couple of years but struggled to find a studio to release it. Pretty good home invasion movie with some twists. However, some of the acting was average.

Overall, a enjoyable gore-fest. 7/10

Escape Plan
8/10
An enormously entertaining thriller starring Stallone and Arnold. Movie really picks up when Arnold turns up. He is awesome. Also look out for Jim Caviezel as a sadistic but polite warden and Vinnie Jones as a brute of a guard. Great fun and a lot of repeat value. Some huge plot holes but who cares? Arnie + Sly = pure awesomeness.

Just finished watching Escape Plan. Looked like a poorer version of Prison Break. Nothing much to remember.

Jack@ss presents Bad grandpa
7/10

When it's funny, it's hilarious. Sensationally dumb humour but some jokes are truly as uncomfortable as they are funny. Surprisingly gets poignant sometimes too. Even got an Oscar nom for makeup. If you liked the Jack@ss series, you will love this one. Jackson Nicholl, the kid deserves to be a star just for his dance in the pageant at the end.

Wolf of Walf Street - 10/10. Insanse, gritty, opulent, decadent and in your face. Great film.

Paranormal Activity : The Marked Ones. Absolute garbage. Awful film. Stupid story line, poor acting. Total waste of time

2/10

Waar- surprisingly well made. No cheese/masala. The pacing was slow at times and some of the acting could have been better. Excellent cinematograhy & sound. Overall, I enjoyed it. 7/10

Eden

A very grim and gritty movie about a human trafficking and prostitution. It never falls into excessive sexualization or manicheism. A tad predictable in the end but I recommend.

The Employer

Five highly qualified applicants interview for a coveted job with the Carcharias Corporation, a powerful conglomerate whose business practices are shrouded in mystery. On the night before the last round of interviews, they are all kidnapped and drugged. The next day, they wake up trapped together in a locked room without any hope of escape. Soon the true nature of their situation is revealed when they receive a phone call from the mysterious CEO of Carcharias, known only as The Employer. He informs them that they are about to experience the final interview, but it's not at all what they were expecting.

Good movie. Basically the one room genre . Not bad to watch once.
