Transformers: Age of Extinction...

Thoroughly disappointed after 3 hours of robots turning into cars and then back into robots only to find out that no one actually gets extinct

Enemy. For those who haven't seen this, watch it now, and report to the Enemy thread I created which has so far sadly ellicited no replies from the usual suspects in this thread.
saadibaba, leatherface58, DHONI183 etc. - watch it. You will either love it or hate it.

Plan to watch it. I like Jake Gyllenhal and the plot seems interesting. Will report back.

"Internet's own boy, the story of Aaron Swartz" .. brilliant documentary for people are interested in Aaron or the Internet freedom movements. 9/10

The "Parents Guide" section of the IMDB website suggests me that this is just a plan to have me embarrassed in front of my family. Sorry my boy, I am not falling for this.

I am sure you will enjoy it. Seems to be your type of flick from what I can gather by reading your posts in this thread.

Family ke saath dhekhna zaroori hai?

The Raid 2
9/10

WOW!!! The most badass action movie ever! The last 45 minutes are a proper 15/10.

Watched it last night. Gripping action scenes. What I love about these movies is that they don't use lots of guns. Killing looks delicious when done with blunt objects. Guns are not brutal, unless they blow the head off. Will watch the first movie too.

Tbh, you should have watched part one first...

Did you put on an evil smile whilst typing this? Always thought of you to be a suspicious man.

Admittedly I had a deranged smile. But i always do. Nothing out of the ordinary. Was a perfectly normal question otherwise.

Anyone who has seen 'Ek That Villain' and gushing with excitement about the direction and originality of Bollywood should know that it's just another shameful rip-off of the Korean movie 'I Saw The Devil'.

'Ek Villain' (2013)

Everything was so good about the film except for the reason given behind the serial killer being so, which of course is the heart and soul of the film. That bit made no sense. I mean, I too would want my wife to say "I love you" to me, but I will not vent my anger on others if she doesn´t.

Possibly because of the contact lenses, Riteish Deshmukh was made to look a lot like Govinda, particularly the latter´s appearance in his film 'Shikar' (2000). The hero in the film acted very well by the way. But why did he release the killer and let him go after each beating? If you want to torture someone, you don´t let him go after beating him, rather instead you kidnap that person.

Why do these amazingly nice and lovie-dovie girls always get murdered so brutally in films? Reminds me of 'Ghajini' (2008).....

The best thing was that flute that they played in the background.
CricketCartoons Is my IQ low:P?

Pathetic from Bollywood. I can telll you it is not a patch on the Korean movie without watching it.

My favourite trilogies:-

1. Back to the future
2. The Dark knight
3. Indiana Jones
4. Godfather
5. Toy Story
6. Rush Hour

My favourite trilogies:-

1. Back to the future
2. The Dark knight
3. Indiana Jones
4. Godfather
5. Toy Story
6. Rush Hour

In each one of these barring Toy Story, the third instalment is easily the worst of the lot.

Also, no LOTR or Terminator?

Transcendence

Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman. You would expect something extraordinary. But they play understated roles. The usual sci fi, and machines taking over the world, but in between Depp's changing relation with his wife keeps you interested. Good watch, but not great.

The grand Budapest hotel. Great movie, everything about it was just superb, costumes, acting, setting. Awesome

I'll add the Bourne trilogy with Damon and Sergio Leone's "Dollars" trilogy (Fistful, a few dollars more and the good, bad and ugly) which single handedly gave us the spaghetti western genre and those classic Ennio Morriconne's tunes. Highly influential....e.g. Sholay, Django etc.

Darr @ the Mall , It was an average horror hindi flick with lots of jumpy movements and deaths but still a good ending.

I said My favourite. I agree Lords of the Rings is right up there amongst the best but fantasy films are not my thing.

Terminator only 2 was the best. 1 was average and 3rd was a joke hence not a top 12 trilogy of all time.

Yes I agree Bourne and Dollars are in the top 12 trilogies of all time.

His family doesn't allow him to watch movies on his own anymore after what he was caught watching one time on his own ;-)

Man, didn´t expect you of all the people in the world to think so negatively about me. I, the same guy who once couldn´t deny his friend´s gift and instead ended up recording a cricket match´s highlights over it.

What do they say? One stone and two birds or something, right?

I don't understand what's so great about that film the Shining starring Jack Nicholson? - ending sucked to me.

It's only the greatest horror film of all time.

Watch a documentary made on it. Room 213 or something like that. You'll appreciate all the metaphorical scenes that Kubrick put in there.

There's this youtube channel known as cinemasins where they point out all the wrongs of the movies. You should check it out and has humour to it.

I wouldn't say it is the greatest. I give it 3/5. The Excorcist takes top spot for me followed by An American Werewolf In London.

Rosemary's Baby is up there as well. Top notch direction by Roman Polanski.

Blue Ruin.

A revenge story with very little action. The tension is built by not knowing when the protagonist will be attacked. A boring movie if you like action scenes. This movie got critical acclaim and won some award at Cannes, but I found it meh. Watchable, but don't expect guns and fight scenes.

Yeah but that would have taken away the impact of my statement. Agree though. Exorcist is still the most frightening thing I've seen.

5/10

A wildly inconsistent and thoroughly irreverent horror anthology consisting of 26 directors given a letter of the alphabet and told to pick a word and make a 5 minute short on that word with the theme of death. They are given total freedom to choose the format, plot, etc. As a result, some folks come up with seriously good stuff while some are mediocre and some are awful.

A constant thing is the level of inappropriate content keeps ballooning with each short. The fun part is the title of short comes after it has aired which proves to be a twist in some cases.

My favourite shorts were A, C, D, L, N, Q, S, T, U, X and Y. Least favourite was M which just pathetic and lazy. F and L really are possibly the most twisted and mental pieces of work I have seen. Would like to have a chat with the directors and pick their brain.

Agreed Exorcist is the horror movie.Saw it when I was eleven or ten.Still remember that day.:P

Need for speed - All about glorifying reckless driving. Not half as good as Fast and Furious series. 5/10

Transcendence - Good movie about AI taking over. 7.5/10

Cloud Atlas.

Very long and interesting film that deals with about 7 different plots set in vastly different worlds/time zones.Really liked it.

8/10

Just finished watching Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Very nice movie, with an emotional ending.

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Visually appealing. Every frame looks brilliant. Bit of Pink Panther and Charlie Chaplin. My kind of movie. I love to feast on the costumes and the sets, and there was ample to enjoy.

Elysium.

Crap movie. Rich humans in space, and poor humans on earth. Poor humans want to be smuggled to space, even though they seem to have everything humans can ask for. They have internet, alcohol, discos, jobs etc on earth yet they risk their lives to go to space. Hate fight scenes when humans are fighting robots. Metal and glass pieces cannot replace the sight of flesh and blood. Overall a boring movie, trying to raise some contemporary themes, but making a mess of it.

Transcendance - had potential but messed it up on a major scale.

'Bobby Jasoos' (2014)

An okay film, or below that perhaps. I went through it since I had nothing else to do.

Watched We're the Millers starring Jennifer Aniston.

Really funny film. Some excellent jokes in it - 7/10

My friend saw it and he said it was horrible.

Have you seen Humpty Sharma Ki Dhulhania??Went to see it this week and had a blast.I was not to excited about this but my friends dragged me along.Story is good and the lead pair is outstanding.A great blend of comedy and drama.

Bobby Jasoos 7/10

A decent movie by b'wood standards no nudity and garbage songs ok plot moves at a fair pace and some new faces time well spent

I have not seen any movies for past 4-5 months. I don't even remember which one was the last one that I saw. What a boring life I am having now.:(

^ Same here. Last movie I saw was Dhoom 3 back in December. *sigh*

last bolly movie I watched in theaters was dhoom3 as well and after that I vowed to never watch a bolly crap in hall no matter what

Transformers - Age of Extinction

5.8/10

Great visuals but story was soo dead. The more the film dragged on, the more stale it got.

Going to be watching Guardians of the Galaxy soon. Coming out in theatres on 31st July.

I didn't like the trailer and I hate Bautista as an actor. Hopefully, movie turns out good when it comes out.

Tokarev

Wanted to watch some typical Nicholas Cage action movie, even though it had poor ratings. But too little action and thrill. Cage is an ex mafiaso turned businessman. One day his daughter is shot dead, and he doesn't know who killed her. Finding that she was killed by a russian made gun, he goes around killing russian gangs. The twist in the plot is very lame. Don't know why they waste everyones' time by making such movies. In one scene, a teenage friend tells Nicholas Cage's daughter that her mother is really hot, and she just smiles. What kind of moral values are these movies teaching?

Trying to find moral values in a "typical Nicolas Cage action movie" is like finding needle in a haystack.

My favorite movie of the year so far. Fun, brilliant and memorable.

Btw, anyone seen the new Planet of the Apes movie.....plan to watch it tomorrow if I get time.

Watched Snowpiercer. Not sure how I feel about it. It was a nice concept and it was visually stunning but I was not sold at all on the rest. Seemed a bit rushed and not thought out. 6/10 I guess.

The Wolf of Wall Street.

100 minutes of the movie is still left, but what a crazy movie it has been so far. How did it get through the censors. But then it was needed to show obscene wealth and greed. I am just happy that I have done a few things DiCaprio does in the movie.

Much better than American Psycho (that movie is not even half of the novel it is based on).

G.I. Jane ... watched it for old times sake. One of my old favorites due to Demi Moore. Best moment in the movie is when her Navy Seal team is cheering her when she fights back during simulated interrogation.

IT v Pinhead v Wishmaster v Michael Myers v Freddy Krueger? - who's the scariest? :afridi

Thor and Big trouble in Little China I've watched.

Dawn of the Planet of Apes

Now this is what I call a thinking man's blockbuster. A magnificent science fiction movie, by far the best movie in the Apes series. Visually stunning, amazing action sequences and cinematography and if the Oscar Gods can listen to me than Andy Serkis should win best actor.
The movie portrays the beginning of any civilization. Ape don't kill ape being the first words taught to young ones in school, an ideology which their magnanimous leader Caesar lives by and what he thinks sets their species apart from Humans. Then just like Cain killed Abel, the germs of envy, deceit and jealousy pit ape against ape just like they did human against human. The battle for the survival of the fittest, the evolutionary process circles around and we have the pre human era fighting the humans, only humans this time around are the soon to be extinct variety. By the end it's hard to tell who is ape and who is human. Brilliant.

4/10

A good climax can't save this snoozefest. Starts out ripping off Halloween but then moves onto pilfering from The Amityville Horror and The Exorcist. Includes some of the cheesiest kills ever. Take a good look at this director's resume and you realize with genuine horror that this dull supernatural slasher was actually a highpoint for him in his toilet of a career!

leatherface58 , I recall you mentioned some israeli movie, can't seem to find it in this thread. If it is not horror, I would like to watch it. I recall you gave good ratings to that movie.

Maybe you are referring to Big Bad Wolves. It's a very dark and funny crime comedy. Not horror but the concept of a pedophile is scary for me atleast. A pretty good movie with an unexpected conclusion.

So happy to see saadibaba as an admin. If there is one person who will never misuse his powers, it is him.

I trust him more than I would trust myself. For example, after the review below by him.....

..... I conducted researches which reveal that this film contains no nudity, vulgarity etc. Planning to watch my solitary Hollywood film in years, in a cinema this time around. Where would I be without him?

leatherface58 : What do you think about Room 1408 and Devil's Backbone? Are they good movies? I need a nice horror movie but I can't watch it beforehand.

Just wanted to warn you, the apes in the movie are not wearing any clothes so.......be careful.

That's actually one of the strange points in the movie; Bad movie, not accurate enough :moyo

1408 is a fantastic horror movie. It's imdb rating does it no justice. John Cusack is a perfect hero and the scares come thick and fast. The film also has some brilliant twists and turns.

Havent seen the devil's backbone. It's Del Toro's movie if I'm correct. He has come up with a new series The Strain which seems like a good one.
