ridiculous action sequences and the last action sequence is facepalmwprthy.

'Dharam Sankat Mein' (2015)

The basic idea is unique and tremendous, but the application leaves a lot to be desired. It had its moments, some even extremely funny ones, but there were a lot of flaws, the biggest of which was its odd and out of place ending. The should have continued with being primarily a comedy film instead of gradually developing it into such a preachy film.

The emphasis laid on the way Hindus pronounce some of the Urdu words was great. It reminded me of myself and how I go on about correcting my Indian friends even over here on the forum:P.

Why did they have to select Gippy Grewal, the Punjabi hero, for such cheap sort of role? I have no problem with anyone doing a negative role, but the question is that there wasn't a role af all. So they could have chosen anyone for it.

Chinese torture story II 2/10

Pretty simple story with a lot of crap stuff no wonder Chinese are poor at film making heck even b'wood movies are better than this

Ek paheli Leela 6.5/10

watched a couple of days ago started off badly but then the story made sense and it moved at a decent pace there are un-necessary songs in the movie which elongates it the twist was also plotted nicely regarding Bhero, overall decent one time watch

Watched a Bollywood film called Highway.

It's about a rich girl who gets kidnapped an eventually takes a liking to her kidnapper.

I thought it was dull, rather boring and pretty slow going

4/10

The Babadook. A harrowing portrayal of depression and mental illness, under the symbolic guise of the terrifying 'Babadook.' I must say, this movie had me tense throughout; this is how horror films should be made. The cinematography and sound design is just brilliant.

Watched Inbetweeners 2.

I liked the series and the first film but I thought this was terrible. Started ok, but story just drifted and it just wasn't funny at all.

3/10

Was it better than part 1?

Watched Seve.

A film which details the life story of the great Spanish golfer, Seve Ballesteros. Really interesting and well made - 8/10

Unbroken
After a near-fatal plane crash in WWII, Olympian Louis Zamperini spends a harrowing 47 days in a raft with two fellow crewmen before he's caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

really like the movie, recommended

The Notebook.

8/10.

A romantic drama, quite powerful at times, with an obvious and yet very touching minor plot twist.

What I really liked was the destigmatisation of over-65s being in a loving relationship, which was also explored in Hope Springs - more of a lighthearted film but still a really enjoyable and open-minded one that I also saw recently, where Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones attend couples/sex therapy.

Ida

A polish black and white movie about a would be nun going through identity crisis in a post WWII era of Stalin dictatorship.

Beatifully picturized in an old school idyllic yet melancholic fashion. The movie is a respite for all those movie goers suffering from modern cinemas obsession with hyperactive camera movements and short indistinct cuts. The move is a cinematographic masterpiece with each frame potentially iconic and unforgettable. The portrayal of the bleak and cold landscape, the scarcity of dialogue, the opaqueness of characters....it's a movie steeped in the style of French filmmakers of the 60's yet still retaining its freshness in the sea of loud over enthusiastic directors. The holocaust and it's aftermath is the backdrop but more than that, it's about self discovery and dealing with tragedy. A must see for all serious cinephiles.

Fast and Furious 7 (2/10)

What a pathetic movie this was I mean it really questions the intellect of the people who liked this movie. No story,No logic.A great movie to defy physics.Hollywood is actually making people like idiots and duffer by making movies like this and still people like it.Even Maula Jatt was more realistic than this movie

Evil dead (2013)

The start was scary i must admit but towards the end i didnt feel any impact. Ending could have been much better.

6/10

Ok Kanmani -- A Tamil movies directed by Manirathnam..Music by A R Rahman

One of the best ,if not the best romantic movies I have seen in a long time. Leads were fantastic ...and so were Prakash Raj and leela Samson as a elderly couple.

9/10

Proper Patola 6/10

Watched a Punjabi movie after a long time was entertaining and simple I enjoy it

U are talking about tollywood here. South Indian cinema produces some of the best movies with original concepts.

Dude ! It is a Mani Rathnam movie...you probably do not even know him ! ..it is normal urban love story ! when you have no idea about something..you are better off not quoting topics related to it. Yes, SOME south indian movies are pathetic..so are some bollywood movies..so are some hollywood movies. Idea is not to be too narcisstic to base an opinion on an industry which produces 1000s of movies in 4 different languages based one horrible move you saw. Can you do that?

Yup. When somebody says Manirathnam is a director of Raavan as if that is movie that defines him ...you know he does not know him.

So I was reading his wikipedia and Tamil version of Raavan had him nominated for the best director for some useless South Indian award....LOLOLOLOLO It shows the quality of South Indian cinema

^^^ how does that even relate to qualities of south indian cinema? And btw...Tamil version actually worked and was better and was a bit different and rooted !

The tamil version was much better with Vikram as the main lead. I don't know what Abhishek was trying to do in its hindi version. He looked like a joker tbh.

He does solo films. Doesnt depend on bigger stars for his success.

Gonna watch Avengers : Age Of Ultron today.

Hope it's as good as the first trailer made it out to be.

Also read they'll be no "after-credit" scene in this one either.

Heard so many people say the same thing about this movie. Must give it a watch over the weekend. Most of the people say they were haunted by Ida's big brown eyes long after they had left the cinema.

Avengers 2.
Didnt like it. But didnt like the first part either. Scarlett has grown on me so I enjoyed her scenes. Always removed my 3D glasses when she was on so that I can see her clearly. The movie was dubbed in hindi so I missed out on any witty oneliners but the hindi dialogues were funny too. Wanted to see a proper scene between black widow and hulk..but had to leave it to my imagination.

Just to add that I typed this post while experiencing a mild earthquake. The computer screen and my chair were shaking but i wanted to finish the post before taking any action.

Avengers 2

Felt like Deja Vu. A good pass time I guess. Getting bored of Marvel movies

5/10

Avengers age of ultron. Was a good film especially if youre a marvel fan like i am. If you hadnt watched any of the previous films it would be a bit confusing. Especially at the start they went in real deep with the scientific stuff which i found cool but one of my friends got bored of because he isnt a marvel fan. It was a really good film but wouldnt say it was breathtaking or outstanding. Doesnt top the last marvel film i saw Guardians of the Galaxy. Would give it a 7/10.

Lots of free time today and tomorrow so i am planning to watch some movies. These are the ones i have with me :

There will be blood

Prisoners

Bigger stronger faster

12 years a slave

Would appreciate if somebody tells me which one to watch first among these??

Bigger stronger faster...have not seen it myself but seems like the most useless movie on the list. Might as well watch it vas get it over with.

There will be blood is probably to be saved for last as you want to leave yourself with images of Daniel Plainview haunting your memory for a long time.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

8.5/10

The dramatic component was much stronger though the action in the first movie was better. I liked the first one a bit better but this is a very good sequel. Casting James Spader is a masterstroke.

Two terrific made-for-TV movies which inspired a TV series Kolchak: The Night Stalker. Kolchak is a wisecracking reporter who investigates supernatural crimes while facing opposition from his supporting but exasperated newspaper editor and the extremely uncooperative law enforcement.

Chris Carter claims this series inspired him to make X-Files. The movies are funny, scary, suspenseful and ultimately a joy to watch.

Saw bigger stronger faster yesterday.
Its more like a documentary lol. Revolves around the subject whether steroids or performance enhancing drugs should be allowed in professional sports or not and whether they really have adverse long term health effects or not.
A nice watch i would say. 7/10

poltergeist-323106l.jpg

8/10

Scary 1982 original. Controversy persists over how much Hooper directed and how much Spielberg "interfered". Apparently, the movie is too cutesy to be solely Hooper and too dark to be solely Spielberg. Ultimately, it's a pretty good movie. Still do not know how it got PG. I mean you have a couple smoking pot, the mom almost getting raped by the spirit and a guy ripping his face off.

8/10

Probably the most underrated horror film of 2014. Scary, disturbing and bitterly satirical. The first 40 minutes are not even horror though it is poignant drama tinged with cynical humour on a girl's desperate desire to make it big in Hollyweird. Then the bloodshed starts and it's mindblowing, pun intended.

The lead actress, Alex Essoe will become a major star. Outstanding, go-for-broke performance. The committment she shows and the punishment she takes (and ultimately gives) in the movie is amazing.

Brilliant, goregasmic fun.

Now that you mentioned it, I think I've seen that one. I thought from the title that it's some stupid action movie. That documentary actually was very good.

Watched NH10

It was a good film...I fear to use the word 'Like' for such a hard hitting me. If anybody asks me why there should be not censorship I would show the scene where Anushka Climbs that small wall and watches the gang from the top and she screams...the emotions that language could have brought to the scene...would have taken it one notch higher. Loved the contrast in the lives....lives in Corporate India to Lives in Rural India.

I loved the subtle scenes where a young kid is watching women get beaten...and how it is part of his normal world. It is not a suprise , it is when he grows up to become one like his father? And also a minute after the honor killing...how guy cries for the brother..but a sister..that is alright ! How the elderly uncle is as immature...and most importantly the older lady...the mother..and how all the women seen are victims of their surroundings.... Absolutely loved the dialogue between the police officer and Anushka where police knows what is the absolute right and absolute wrong...but somehow tries to justify the right and wrong in that place...! Issues empowerment issues related issues in different sects of India.

Kudos to Anushka....she was perfect as the women who had face the consequences of a choice her husband makes. Coming to that ...I am not sure what to say..if Arjun was foolish or brave ....I mean you cannot certainly argue that being silent was right but I found myself saying like Anushka says..."dude...what you are doing man"...?

Kudos to her for putting her money in a movie like this ! All the actors were great !

Coming to the Movie...Solid movie which I think deserved a better closure. Soundtrack..may be could have been better.

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' (2015)

Oh´ God! What a garbage film! Extremely over-rated, absolutely to the extremes! Mindless action, nonsense story!

Saw Avengers 2.

I normally despise Marvel, this was watchable though. Actually I'd say its decent enough, miles better than Guardians of the Garbage.

7/10

Same here "50 shades of grey" was the last i watched before that it was "Your’e Not You". :)

Prisoners (2013)

Hugh jackman has done a good job as is ecpected of him.

7.5/10

There was a bit of a suspense. Kept me glued to the screen.

Age of Ultron - 7/10 much better than the first 1 but story seemed a bit weak. Ultron was bad ass.

IMO..on the surface level..you can argue it is. But so is every road movie ever, a couple go on a trip and meet some scary people. This you can say is the Indianized version of the road movie-slasher with references rooted to the modern Indian problem of honor killing. You can also say The Brave One and I Spit On Your Grave as something close. Makers say, they have stick to the formula of the genre but have included many references of India and the issue and since there are not many movies in that genre in bollywood, it can look like movie on a surface level when story is told in 30 seconds..but it is more a reference to genre hollywood pioneered.

Your contributions to the thread about horror genre is realy good , it helps us to choose what to watch

There was a ram Gopal Verma movie " Road " also, same kind of stuff.

Nightcrawler

A freelance cameraman chasing crime scenes to get the most graphic footage possible to sell to local news channels and in the process becomes not only the part of capturing the story but also someone who plans, stages and even creates stories for his own benefit.

The protagonist Louis Bloom played by the ever underrated Jake Gyllenhal is a psychopath. But his path towards immorality is as much a product of our detached yet prying society as his own indifferent and callous nature. He reminded me of Patrick Bateman, the yuppie serial killer whose observations about music, culture and world affairs is eloquent yet reeks of bookish buffoonery. There is not a person behind that face, just an allusion, a mask of privilege and convineience worn by a heartless monster whose objectives are as pointless as his own lifestyle. Louis Bloom however starts as a struggling young man trying to make ends meet. His knowledge of his surroundings are purely based on his internet surfing and online courses which he has seriously taken to heart as the real deal. Yet, there is a person underneath him unlike Pat Bateman, a product of our reality obsessed voeuristic culture, eager to climb the social ladder by any means possible. The mannerisms of Jake Gylehaal, his creepy smile, observant face, corporate boardroom style talk and at times that cold as ice look is half the movie and makes this an intriguing and uncannily striking piece of cinema. A must watch.

Jake deserved an Oscar for this. Even better than his Enemy role.

I agree with the comparisons with Bateman. Both are monsters.

I really need to see Enemy.

Jake was really good in Prisoners as well. Also in the cop movie End of Watch. He can play tough guy roles as well as deeply disturbed psychologically complex characters.

'The Silence of the Lambs' (1991)

Well, quite an achievement to have put this one behind me as I had been looking to watch this one since a few years now.

So, how was it? Quite good. A very good film in fact. Short and to the point. There were some thrilling moments in it as well as a scene that left me completely awestruck.

The scene referred to above is the one in which Lecter is the ambulance, pulling off an epic effort to escape from the prison.

I will give it eight out of 10.
