San Andreas - 7/10 the story events were predictable but it was very entertaining

Pixels- 4/10, The character development was silly and the plot was terrible. Aliens sending real versions of video games of a tape that went into space? Really?

It has Adam Sandler, what did you expect? :ibutt

It was up in the cinema when I went about a month or two ago. Had to choose between watching Southpaw (highly recommend it) or Pixels, no brainer really.

Planning on watching this epic movie this weekend :))) :

It has piqued my interest because it looks so hilariously bad.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

After picking up a traumatized young hitchhiker, five friends find themselves stalked and hunted by a deformed chainsaw-wielding killer and his family of equally psychopathic killers.

Great movie !!

8 / 10

Ghanchakkar - 5/10 Loved the 1st half (both Rajesh sharma and Namit das were superb) but writing was awful in the 2nd half (especially the supposed big reveal was damp squib).

Don't know much about actors and movies, the concept seemed good so I watched it...

Fantastic Four (2015 reboot) - 1/10

I am no big lover/hater of retelling the same origin stories (disliked Amazing Spiderman series, though) again and agian but still this one was done wrong on so many levels. It has got bad script, poor characterization, awful execution, and a climax fight that makes the horrendous Hulk's (2003) battle with that electronic (father) thing a cinematic marvel. The supposed team of 4 super power humans never shown as working as a team until the last few minutes of the film and even then the team combo looks so disjointed. A very forgettable movie.

A Christmas Horror Story. 8/10

Interwoven horror stories take place on Christmas Eve. A family brings home more than a Christmas Tree, teenagers inviestigate a murder, a Christmas spirit terrorizes & Santa slays evil. I love these type of movies...throughly enjoyed this one & is well worth a watch leatherface58

Howl- 7/10

Passengers on a stranded train are attacked by a creature- a fight for survival ensues.

Watched The Theory of Everything.

It's based on the life of Stephen Hawking.

I found it a bit dull really and expected it to be more interesting 5/10

I guess it could have been a little better but they did a good job conveying emotion. The guy who played Stephen Hawking was outstanding though, deserved an Oscar.

They actually set about wanting to focus the film around Stephen and his relationship with his wife. I think they'd have been better served if they focused on his actual life work, like for instance the more critically acclaimed The Imitation Game.

Bone Tomahawk - 7/10 A solid slow burner from western/horror genre. Enjoyed the performances of Mathew Fox and Richard Jenkins.

Spectre.

Nowhere NEAR enough Christoph Waltz, a very very run of the mill plot and a long run time drag down an otherwise entertaining film. Craig is his usual self, smart, manly, wont change your mind if you dislike him (i love him personally).

Film kinda establishes characters/entities but doesnt really flesh them out enough IMO. Action is as expected good and there are some funny one liners too.

All in all a solid end to Daniel Craig's Bond tenure.

7/10 (and for gods sake WATCH SICARIO IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY!!)

Ranking Craigs films.

Casino Royale (best bond ever imo)

Skyfall

Spectre

Quantum of Solace

This is his last movie as bond!! Why not continue with him? Few months ago there was a talk of idris alba as bond and there was some outrage cause he is black!!! Of course but why take new bond when the present bond is so good.!

American Sniper.

Wasn't bad. A bit jingoistic. Expected more from Clint.

MAX a story about US Marine Dog expected something else but got something else still pretty decent weekend watch. 7/10

Dope , story about black teen the humour is great although would had preferred a better script. 7.5/10

A brilliant young mind a socially awkward kid who loves mathematics a very intelligent film well done from bbc again. 8/10

Saw Steve Jobs but didn't like it as much as I thought I would. All it shows is that he was an Ahole and wasn't liked by many people. I'd give it a 7.

Will watch 'Gran Torino' again later tonight. Slightly old now (came out in 2009 or 2010) but one AMAZING movie.

Frozen- Hated it for the first few scenes, loved it in the end. Awesome music.

Maze Runner The scorch trials 5/10. It was not as good as i expected it to be. gained momentum towards the end and some questions were answered.

Thank god giving that a miss then, suddenly in last 5 years all these Maze Runner,Divergent and Hunger games kinda movies seem to be taking a lot of screen space not able to completely like these tbh.

U can give it a miss but if u want to continue with the series then watch it. The problem for me was that there was a long gap between the first and second movie. I forgot few things. The first one was better that it had more mystery the second one had more action for half of the film and only towards the end some questions were answered. I still did not understand what was the need for them and other kids to be put in the maze??

I will not watch a movie if Bond is Black. Just like I wont like it if they turned a Black hero into white.

Welcome back : 5/10 : Good for time pass, john was pretty poor. Nana was awesome as usual.
Mad Max Fury road : 10/10 : Terrific movie, Tom hardy take a bow!!!!
American Sniper : 8/10 : Bradley cooper was pretty good, loved his accent.
Four brothers (2005) : 8/10 : It was actually a pretty good movie.

Am keep on forgetting to see Sicario am incredibly curious given the critical acclaim, a few weeks ago was deciding whether to go for Martian or Sicario but the showing for Sicario started a bit late so I went for Martian. What did you make off Sicario? besides the 10/10 for Emily blunt :afridi

The plot is very intriguing though and you just know it's going to be a good movie when the main character is so conflicted about the choices they make or are forced to make.

Need to see Spectre as well. I don't think it's going to top Skyfall.

Already reviewed it a page back, my film of the year at the moment.

GTFO AND WATCH THIS NOW, RIGHT GODDAMN NOW! COMPRENDE??

Brilliant brilliant brilliant, loved every bit of it and that ending!!

Sicario is spanish for hitman, and I'll bloody take one out on you if you dont see it!!

10/10!!!

Definitely up there with Kingsman and Interstellar for my film of the year, probably tops both if I'm honest.

Dunno if I'm making this clear, BUT BLOODY SEE IT!!

Crimson Peak 10/10. Loved it. I am a fan of gothic horror/mystery/romance and this film did not disappoint. Jessica Chastain is a really good actress.

The curious case of benjamin button

Benjamin Button, a baby that was born looking like an old man, is taken in by a nurse at an old folks home. Over the years as Benjamin got "older" he appeared to get younger. As he lives at the home, he meets Daisy, a beautiful young girl the same age. He falls in love with her, knowing the relationship will always look strange. Will his disability get in the way of true love? Or will it set him free?[/I

A solid movie , with unusual script.

8 / 10

what was this about ?

Edith Cushing is running away from a family tragedy. She marries Thomas Sharpe, a mysterious stranger. She comes to live with him and his sister, Lady Lucille Sharpe. She starts to find out that the Sharpe's home is filled with ghosts.

The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro . I won't say this is his best work but it works well as a gothic horror genre. He has paid good attention to the details of the period mainly 1901 and the visuals are great and the actors are all good.

Watched The Woman in Gold last night. I'll admit I thought it would be boring however, it was such a brilliantly made movie! I absolutely loved it. Would definitely recommend to people who have an interest in the holocaust.

Watched the new Salman Khan film.

Whilst it was one of the rare Bollywood films you can watch with your family, I have to say it was awful to watch. One Salman Khan is bad enough, but a double-role was just too much. Silly storyline, poor acting 2/10.

Star Wars A New Hope 9.5/10 - quiet brilliant really, simple narrative which the characters were built around and I've not enjoyed a space action/adventure so much. It's insane to think they would release a movie of that calibre so many years ago and it still stands the test of time.

Prem ratan Dhan Payo

While recovering from an assassination attempt four days before his coronation, a stern prince is replaced by a heartfelt lookalike.

The script was good. The sets were lavish.

The movie started well and had some good moments. Songs were random. The climax was a big let down.

6.5 / 10

What about Empire Strikes Back?

The Little Prince 7/10 weird movie liked it tbh because i hate the way capitalism has taken over the world.

Saw it in theater hated it.

I guess you need to have a taste for gothic atmosphere. I basically binge on gothic mystery/horror novels. The reason i gave it a high rating was for the atmosphere and creepy visuals.

Could be but i did like 'Queen of the Damned' much more and that was kinda gothic too much better than this.

What about Empire Strikes Back?

The sequel was a continuation of the first; it was sought of enhancing the ongoing storyline while adding more layers to the development of the characters. It culminated in the shocking twist at the end which many wouldn't have seen coming, it was also great to see the introduction of Yoda. I'd give it a 9.25/10

The team took a great risk ending the movie like that actually probably the top 10 twists of Hollywood.

That twist is a part of pop culture :)) even people who have never seen Star Wars before but decide to watch it will not be able to avoid that spoiler. We've all heard some guy in a scary black mask say "Luke I am your baap" at some point in our lives growing up :))

sinister 2- decent film, some parts of the film is good- how they show them tired up in the field, 6/10

Mandela long walk to freedom- great film, very emotional, only negative was it should had more detail-making the film longer. 8/10.

Selma -now this was great, David Oyelowo is great in it and i was impressed by oprah wimprey- again it should have been longer and more detail about Dr.King. 8.5/10.

Amistad- About a 1839 mutiny aboard a slave ship that is traveling towards the northeastern coast of America. Much of the story involves a court-room drama about the free man who led the revolt.
My brother and other family members told me to watch this saying it had horrific scenes - which it does, however it was too much about the court room- a bit on the slow side, hopkins was average, freeman was his typical self(overrated imo), but Djimon Hounsou was great. 7.5/10.

next up on my list is lincoln- no one tell me anything what happens but your rating off it

Watched Slumdog Millionaire recently.

Pretty old movie but it was pretty exhilarating - surely worth a watch!

Bridge of Spies

A feel good movie. I thought the student exchange plot that was added to the main plot was unnecessary and felt like it was just there to add more time to the movie. I liked the actor who played the Russian spy and his line "Will it help".

Surprised no has said Creed yet, understandable though cuz exams.

Good movie, was a rocky sequel even though didn't say it. Didn't have one of those run off the mill boxing movie plots, was unique in its own way.

Finished watching 'Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan' 8/10.

The movie taught me so many things, thank you Temüjin

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

Although i havent watched any movie of this series so far, i liked the movie. Been lucky, that a friend of mine could sum up the plot of the previous movies, to give me a rough overview, of what its all about. Overall, from the looks of it, it seems to be a worthy sucessor of the first part.

7-8/10

Watched a film called Kill the Messenger.

It's based on true events about a US journalist who exposed the CIA and their link to Nicaraguan rebels.

Interesting film and worth a watch 7/10.

Crimson Peak - 7/10 Well written with a great setting. A little predictable.

American Ultra - Fun movie - 7.5/10

Does anyone know where I can watch the Iranian Prophet Muhammed(pbuh) film?

Recently watched the Groundhog Day from the yesteryears. A decent movie even today.

The Man from UNCLE and the Scorch Trials are the latest I have watched form the 2015 crop. The former is a bit better (the first half was actually good), but both pretty average overall.

I saw Whiplash last night. All I will say I highly recommend it. The best film I have seen this year.

Its a good film. I forgot The name of lead actor who also plays hawk eye in avengers. He has done a good job in the movie. The actual journalist about whom the movie is ,was found shot dead at his house after a couple of years of the incident.

One of the better movies i have watched but people might find it boring and slow.

Well those that don't like high intense drama sure it will not be to their interests. Maybe you have to be of reasonable age and intelligence without offending anyone but I myself didn't find it boring at all.

Loved the epic twists at the end.

Shutter Island - A superb thriller. The whole movie makes you feel like a detective where you are picking up clues from the first scene to the end.

9/10

Yup and the acting. Especially of the teacher. Sorry i have a habit of forgetting the names. The end was pretty intense. And the scene where the student first experiences his rage. Incredible.

The teacher was Fletcher, yeah his acting was so natural. Incredibly mean to his students but actually you can see why he does it. Loved how he got trolled in the end. :kakmal

If you loved Whiplash, you should give some of the following from the 2014-15 crop a try:

The Grand Budapest Hotel
Nightcrawler
Birdman

Intense, well-acted dramas that most viewers wouldn't have heard of.

I have already seen Nightcrawler, that was a very good movie as well mainly down to the fab acting by jake Gyllenhaal. I also amother one of his other films recently called Prisoners, have you seen that ?? It's just as good as Nightcrawler with some good twists at the end.

I haven't seen the other 2 films you mentioned but I will give them a go, thanks.

Yep, Prisoners was excellent. I always thought that a happy ending probably robbed it of an oscar win. But, if you are talking 2013 movies, here are a couple more hidden jewels to add:

Short Term 12
The Past (Iranian movie like 'A Separation')

I assume most of us here already know of '12 Years a Slave' and 'Dallas Buyers Club'.

For me the experience after watching these movies was.

1. Whiplash
2.The grand Budapest Hotel
3. Nightcrawler
4. Birdman

I did not like Birdman as much as the other three. Rest of them were exceptional.

What took you so long to return to PP?

Good to see the alums of that thread around.:)

Been exceptionally busy. Still am, but beginning to take a few minutes out here and there in the day to post.

Meaning to see some of the 2015 year-end Oscar contenders:

The Big Short
Creed
The Martian
