5/10

There is a guy who is into art and his brother who is a part of a gang which which robs expensive showrooms. There are gang wars and stuff. And a pretty pointless ending. All in all Disappointed with the movie.

Going to watch a couple of movies today

Straight outta compton

A most violent year.

Hope these turn out to be good.

Only god forgives is an ace film

Ryan gosling appears as chemically inert as ever but Kristen Scott Thomas really does give a mind blowing performance

Set in Bangkok

Would have liked to see more of tupac ij the movie. Woaahhhh man just a minute of his presence (his duplicate's) in the movie made me love it.

I was wondering how the guy that played ice cube looked so much like him, then i googled and came to know that it was actually his son who played the role. Pretty amazing haha

Predestination

Wooooooooahhhh what da effffff did i just watch!!!!!!! Total mind dash dash. Can't rate it unless i understand it.

Need to watch it one more time to understand completely. Posters who have watched the movie, Fellas please explain this thing to me. God Damnnn

Quentin Tarantinos new film is coming out called Hateful Eight which is based on a Western genre this time.

I am planning to see it on Sunday, hopefully it will be decent like his last film.
Actually the movie could have been set on mafia members and in contemporary times and the story wouldn't have changed one bit.

The western theme is a bit of a red herring.

A most violent year

7/10
Good movie about a guy who is trying hard to keep his business afloat in an honest fashion against the odds.

Goosebumps

6/10

Not a bad movie. Didnt find it too funny and certainly not scary ,but was okay overall. Its one of those comedy horror movies you watch to pass time.

It's a Tarantino western but it is, by all means, a western.
Yes but I'm saying that it's more of a darkly humorous suspense thriller than a western. The western aspect of the story is superfluous though welcome.

Compare that with Django Unchained which was a proper Western.

Being a "western" and a "dark humorous suspense thriller" are not mutually exclusive terms. Any story relating to the old West, often centered around cowboys or gunfighters can be labeled as western. Dances with wolves is a western as much as the Oulaw Josey Wales. Django Unchained is not more or less of a western than Hateful Eight, it says more about what your perception of a "western" is.

Room - 8 / 10

A fantastic book which cannot quite transfer to the big screen because it is seen less through the eyes of Jack. However still very good and will make you cry and laugh quite often at same time.

A film doesn't even need to be set in the old West these days to be a western per say. Inglorious basterds for example.

The Past 9/10

Emotional drama from Asghar Farhadi. Highly recommended.

Not sure if Inglorious makes the cut. Its hard to box Tarantino's movies into specific genres but I think Inglorious is more along the lines of WWII war movie genre.

Its Spaghetti Western all over. Just set in WW2.

I like a good genre mix up if its done right.

The Past 9/10

A Seperation 9/10

Two masterpieces from director Asghar Farhadi. Highly recommended.

Steve jobs

6.5/10

Better than the previous movie made on steve. But to be honest i got bored watching this.

Will watch black mass today. Hope johnny boy doesnt let me down.

Saw a slew of movies:

The Hateful Eight
9/10

Wonderful mix of western and Agatha Christie with pitch black humor. Walton Goggins is a gem. I am a fan of his from The Shield and Justified. He will win the Oscar one day.

Spotlight
7.5/10

A theme treated with gravity and seriousness and with absolutely no hint of exploitation. That said, it's a bit too inert. It was not as forceful as All the President's Men or even JFK. I did feel sorry for the victims though and the scene where Sasha meets a pedophile priest was amazing.

Tales of Halloween
5.5/10

An inconsistent horror anthology consisting of 10 tales. Most of the tales were too short to truly shock and some were truly predictable. There were a couple of gems particularly one where a slasher villain has a close encounter of the third kind and another where an arsonist gets her brutal and much deserved comeuppance.

This is an indie so children are not safe and in fact, children could be the ones causing problems too. Adrienne Barbeau's rich voice works well as the DJ who serves as the overarching narrator.

The Revenant.

I thought it was really good. DiCaprio is brilliant in it.

Only negative is that it went on too long, I thought maybe it could have been 20-30 minutes shorter.

Saw it in the cinema yesterday. That bear scene......

JeruZalem - 3/10 Interesting premise lost on execution (cliched and boring)

He Never Died - 7/10 Indie gem, totally enjoyed!

Black mass

7.5/10 only for depp. Man whattay actor.

Legend

7/10
Tom hardy is one of the best actors in the world. Really growing on me. Such a versatile actor.

The Man from UNCLE - An intelligent movie, alot of style, little substance. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Its one of those non-serious flicks you enjoy because the characters are more charming than the plotline.

Henry Cavill's performance was outstanding as Napolean Solo - He's definitely not a one trick pony. There's more to his personality than just pulling off the Superman role. Also he has a flawless American accent.

Not convinced by Revenant. Legend was truly awful and Hardy's performance laughable at times.

His performance as Superman was ok at best. A bit wooden at times. He wore the same facial expression throughout the movie:

I think he is fantastic as superman. Alot of Marvel fans try to find faults in his performance. But I feel he was the reason Man of Steel worked, as compared to Brandon Routh who fell flat in Superman returns

Im a fan of both Marvel & DC. MOS was a awful movie.

Thats debatable. Polarizes alot of opinions. I enjoyed it alot, specially the action sequences. I think him ripping of Zod's neck actually made it more relatable in today's world, compared to the idealism shown by the superman of previous ages. It also sets a good precedence for Batman vs superman and Justice league.

The Revenant 10/10.

Really enjoyed it; I've not seen a movie combine elements of survival and revenge so well. Both themes complemented each other nicely and elevated the protagonist's motives emphatically.

Sicario is next on my list, especially because Donal Cozzie can't praise it enough :)) Although it's a shame I missed it in the cinema when it came out, watched mad max instead I think.

Need to see the following:

Rocky 7: Creed

Hateful Eight

Time is running out though, fewer screenings in the cinema's as the days go by.

Going to watch creed tonight.

Are there any good movies that are going to get released this week?????????????

Not a fan of Will Smith but Concussion looks interesting. Currently out are Spotlight, The Big Short and Room which I recommend.

Di Caprio to finally win an Oscar?

Gone Girl.

Don't know how to rate it. It messed with my mind. Definitely gonna stay in my mind.

Depending on mood is either give it a 3/10 or a 8/10.

Anyone else watched it and your thoughts?

mmm its a weird film tbh. if im being completely honest i pretty much hate it but i can understand why somebody would like it.

Out of the nominees I feel his performance was better then the leads in Steve Jobs and Martian so he definitely has a good chance this year. Not seen Trumbo to comment on Cranstons performance or the Danish Girl in comparison though.

I need to watch that movie but I haven't started the book yet; it is often rated as one of the best psychological thriller novels of all time.

I enjoyed the movie. It was much better than gone baby gone.

I love Ben Affleck, and if was pretty suspenseful, but ending was lame, wanted her to get punished bad.

Creed

7/10

I think its a bit over rated. Had high expectations after reading the reviews. Its a good movie but not as good as some would suggest. Other rocky movies are miles ahead.

Why the comparison with Gone Baby Gone which btw was a very good movie as well, was surprised to know it was directed by Ben himself.

Defn he is improved as an actor also he loves films which makes him passionate about his work thus making him improve we would never see our celebs write Good Will Hunting kinda scripts.
I personally liked Argo more than town and gone baby gone the most.

I forgot Argo. yes that was a good movie too.

Finally watched Sicario

Was good at best. At times was slow & boring. Benicio Del Tero was fantastic. Josh Brolin was good. Emily Blunt was meh.

Not 'amazing' as I expected it to be.

Not Oscar worthy in all honesty. In fact, Hardy was better. The Revenant is more a director's movie. Beautifully shot.

Haha someone was joking that they should just give him the Oscar so he can spare all of us from these kinds of movies in the future.

Dont know the context as havent watched the movie but it was funny comment

Did you get spooked by the end?

Yeah it was unusually funny. I hope the sequel is as good or even better.

The werewolves were funny as hell hahah especially the last scene where they were tying themselves with trees before turning into wolves :))

"we're werewolves not swear wolves" :D
