The IPL is not about the winning team, or any other team.

It's just a loud, bombastic advertising billboard where the quality of cricket takes a backseat.

This edition around, grab the popcorn if/when players start testing positive and start pulling out one by one.

I will be very surprised if Mumbai dont win it again and create hatrick. They have all the ingredients with all bases covered and probably the best t20 side in the world. They are massive favorite to win IPL 2021.

I am going for DC. They have improved their squad. Pant and Shaw are in good form. I think they will get over the line this time.

SRH look like a good team, a competitive team.

Need to make decisions based on the pitches.

Not watched much IPL historically; man most of the squads look incredible.

I had a soft spot for KKR in the early seasons but they literally look like they have the worst squad! Quite like the look of SRH - will watch a round or two before nailing my flag to a mast.

Mumbai Indians looking very strong!

Rajasthan do look good this time around. Will be interesting to see if they can go the next level

My top 3 prediction:-

Mumbai Indians
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Delhi Capitals

I'm going for Mumbai,DC,KKR, and Chennai as the teams who will qualify for the play offs.

Voted for MI but honestly I couldn't care less. I just hope our players are fit for WTC final and the England series

Rajasthan royals may prove to be the dark horse. They have a good squad with lot of English overseas players. Include mustafizur and Morris I think they have the best overseas contingent of all the teams. It's sad their local talent is not much to speak about except Sanju , Vohra and Tewatia

Has to be between Hyderabad Heroes and Chennai Superstars. But I wouldn't count the Royal Bengal Tigers out.

Mumbai. They have a winning attitude and they always find a way out to win from difficult situations.

The updated table after Delhi's victory over Punjab:

RCB looks determined this time. But still we should not keep bigger hopes about it :)

The trend will continue.

2011- finals
2012-14- no playoffs
2015- semis
2016- finals
2017-19- no playoffs
2020- semis
2021- finals

Then, it will be a long wait till 2026.

A very interesting kind of some Mathematical/Fibonacci sort of sequence it seems! Thanks for coming up with this :)

Punjab Kings have the right team to win the tournament. Hope PBKS uses more spinners in conducive pitches.

I think CSK may go all the way this time. They will always be helped by some individual going berserk & in top form in each edition (Raina, Watson, Jadeja, etc) MI and SRH are their only threats. MI's key players like SKY, Kishan, Bumrah, Pandya, Pollard seem to be off-color this time. SRH seem to find it difficult to make playoffs (once they make the playoff they seem to peak up nicely especially on bowler-friendly pitches)

RCB, DC, etc are just namesake competitors if they make the playoffs!

Kane Williamson takes over Sunrisers Hyderabad captaincy from David Warner for rest of IPL 2021

SRH are languishing in the last place on the IPL 2021 points table with just 1 win from 6 games so far.

Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday removed David Warner from the captain's post and handed it over to Kane Williamson for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, the franchise confirmed.

SRH are languishing in the last place on the IPL 2021 points table with just 1 win from 6 games so far.

Seems a bit harsh on Warner. He has been captain when they have gotten to the play offs and won the tournament. Interesting to see what changes they will make to the overseas combination. Seems like one of Warner or Bairstow will be dropped as Williamson is captain and Rashid won't be dropped.

this is akin to a professionally given "slap on the face" but of course it is professional cricket and team owners call the shots. Should have asked warner to resign from post

Warner dropped from captaincy. What a disrespect! SRH should learn from RCB and stick with their captain no matter what.

:)):))

Just hope Delhi wins this time under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant since he will be future captain of team India.

Oh man! Did they just axed Warner? This is disrespectful.

It can be a good decision though. Think they want Holder or Nabi to strengthen the batting and can bowl 4 overs too. So, had to drop someone.

Bairstow is keeper bat and Rashid is the best T20 spinner. Kane has led SRH to IPL finals in 2018 in absence of Warner so he can take the captaincy role.

They should have given him the season and then replaced him. They have hung him out to dry. He's been a big player for SRH and 1 of the best batters in IPL history . This season is first real struggle and he still has 2 50s!

https://www.timesnownews.com/sports/cricket/ipl/article/mumbai-indians-crash-out-of-ipl-2021-as-they-fail-to-restrict-sunrisers-hyderabad-under-65-run-mark/821929

Mumbai Indians (MI) became the 4th and last team to get eliminated from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 as they failed to restrict Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) below the 65-run mark. While SRH are chasing a huge target of 236, they only needed to score 65 runs to rule MI out of the tournament.

The moment Manish Pandey ran for a single off Trent Boult, MI became the final team to get eliminated from the league stage of IPL 2021. MI, who have a poor NRR of -0.048, had to defeat SRH by a big margin of 171 runs in order to keep their chances alive. While they did put up a big total 235, it was a tough ask from the bowlers to restrict SRH under 65.

Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders are 4 teams which have made it to the playoffs.

Why MI needed to restrict SRH under 65?

In multi-team events, the NRR plays a pivotal role as there are chances of two or more teams finishing with the same number of points in their kitty.

KKR did manage to win only half of their 14 league stage matches but they did not let their NRR go below 0. They finished the league stage with an NRR of +0.587, which is better than that of 3rd-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore (-0.159).

MI have a poor NRR of -0.048 and had an improbable task of keeping their hopes alive. With 6 wins from 13 matches, MI presently sit at the 6th spot in the points table.

They need to defend the total of 235 to climb to the 5th spot and finish with a same number of wins as KKR. If they lose today, the defending champions will continue to sit at the 6th spot.

Punjab Kings, who presently sit at the 5th spot, also have 6 wins in their account. They finished their league stage campaign at a poor NRR of -0.001.

Delhi is very strong in all the departments but you know T20, one extremely good or bad performance can change the fate of the game
