Will Babar Azam end up as the Pakistani with most ODI centuries?

11th hundred for babar azam .he is now 3rd on the list.
Most odi hundred by pakistani players

1)Saeed anwar 20 hundred in 244 inning

2)Muhammad yousaf 15 hundred in 267 inning

3)Babar azam 11 hundred in 70 inning

4)Hafeez 11 hundred in 216 inning

At this rate he should break the record in 140 innings. Should go for 30+ ODI hundreds of he plays 250+ ODIs

Besides India, his stats are superb.

But I am pretty certain that he would be averaging 50+ by the end of 15 ODIs against India

2 out of 5 dismissal was unplayable deliveries from kuldeep .So cannot blame him much

At this rate, he should be able to retire as the third batsman with most centuries behind Kohli and Tendulkar only.

If he plays as many ODIs as Indian players do batting as an opener or number 3, he can still target 50 ODI tons and he is good enough to get them

Pakistan has a very low bar when it comes to batting records. The fact that our all-time highest century-maker only has 20 tons says it all.

Even if Babar’s career plateaus from here onwards, he should beat almost every Pakistani ODI batting record by volume. However, he needs to do more in his capacity to stamp his authority.

The innings that he played vs New Zealand at the World Cup is something that he should be replicating more frequently.

In the World Cup alone, he had three opportunities against West Indies, India and Australia to play defining knocks and he failed to capitalize on all three occasions.

Babar azam will retire as pakistan greatest pakistan odi batsman. He will be behind tendulkar and maybe kohli he will also for most odi century's

Babar needs 10 more ODI centuries to surpass Saeed Anwar.

I think he should do it in 3-4 years.

Special player. Really proud to have someone like him representing Pakistan. Hopefully he keeps working hard.

He is already in top five ODI batsmen in the world.

Many great batsmen took their time finding their feet in test cricket.

Babar has done well recently in that format so hopefully he's on his way to finding his.

He's doing amazing well in ODIs but you won't be considered a great unless you also average 50+ in test cricket with a mountain of runs.

It doesn't really say it all.

Our best batsmen for decades have preferred to come down the order, not at 3 or opening. It says something that the guy with the record for Pakistan was an opener. I'm glad Babur has the guts to come in at 3 compared to these past legends.

I don’t even have to read ur whole pathetic essay I just need to read the first word which is always Pakistan and than you will begin your hate speech going on about how we are so behind everyone else and how babar is a mini achievement so no need to get excited about him. Man you’re the most toxic human being I’ve ever witnessed on the internet like just shut up.

What he saying is not wrong. We can count on one finger the batsmen from Pakistan that are known as world class.

But i am sure Babar Azam will break all the records by Pakistani batsmen in all formats.

He should reach there, but I don't know how he will , because Pakistan is playing only handful of Odis till next world cup

Yes that is one reason, and it is the lack of hunger to score big and lead from the front instead of staying in your comfort zone. Mohammad Yousuf should have opened frequently in the 2000s after Saeed Anwar retired, and Inzamam should have been at number 3.

Most teams have usually preferred to play their best batsmen at the top in ODIs, but Pakistan opted a different strategy even though it simply didn’t work.

Beating this record is too easy, he should aim for the most ODI centuries for all countries, that's a proper long term goal and one that will keep him going.

This is Babar Azam’s record for 19 centuries.

Some matches against West Indies or Sri Lanka or some other minnows, he could get to the 21 mark.

Three 100s against Australia looks good until you dig deeper. One was an atrocious less than run a ball innings which led to Pak losing the match while chasing in excess of 370. last two were against Aus B side touring Pak, which had none of the front line bowlers except Zampa bowling. This has been the problem with Babar. Very few quality innings where he has destroyed some great bowlers. He has a chance tomorrow. It's a flat wicket with short boundaries. He can get an 100 there

He will smash 60 centuries at this rate
Dont think so. Pakistan doesn't play as many ODIs as India. In past 7 years BA has played just around 110 ODIs. He will end up scoring around 40 hundreds if his form continues till the end of his career.

Looks like he might play for 7 more years. 2 centuries a year gives 35 tons in total. About where Rohit will end up.

But unlike India does with Kohli/rohit Pakistan does not rest players against lesser teams. So he will some easy tons along the way so I am punting somewhere around 40.

The number of Odi's Pakistan team has played is less than any other top-tier team. Pakistan has been playing more t20 than Odi and not to mention here the tests they have played. I don't think Babar will be scoring anymore then 40.

He will surely go past Saeed Anwar's 20 centuries but its unlikely that he will go past Inzi's total ODI runs of 11701. Pakistan wont be playing any ODIs till Nove, ber 2024 which means he wont play a single ODi for 1 year. Also after this debacle I am guessing Pakistan too will follow India's policy and start resting him against series against weaker teams which means lesser ODIs for him. I dont see him scoring 6000 runs in 7-8 years as he will be on the wrong side of 30 from next November.

I agree, I initially thought h will score around 40 tons but seeing how little ODIs Pakistan plays its highly unlikely.
