Any posters from Pakistan can you guys answer this question. What are the peoples sentiments about the pdm? I mean pmln and ppp have been historically rivals how can they be aligned? it makes no sense. What do their supporters feel about this?

Pmln will have the support from business community.

But people still call pmln members as chor. Ppp is not algined with pdm, they are only aligned as opposition to bring the govt down, but they arnt aligned together.

Also, since zardari came, ppp supporters arnt the same anymore

Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial observed on Friday that the Constitution did not bind a lawmaker to declare allegiance to a political party.

While referring to an argument by Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Jawed Khan in which he had tried to equate defection under Article 63A of the Constitution in the presidential reference with that of “Khayanat” (dishonesty), the CJP observed that Khayanat was a serious offence and the holy Quran speaks of serious punishment for it.

But the question demanding attention is: whether the Constitution speaks of dishonesty to a political party or to the constituents who elect legislators.

The AGP will have a good case if he established that those who switched their loyalty had betrayed their voters, the CJP observed.

He made the remarks during the hearing by a five-member bench of a presidential reference seeking interpretation of Article 63-A of the Constitution.

The CJP wondered why parliament chose to restrict disqualification to de-seating of a member even though it had the powers to add more provisions like a life-long bar from being elected to any legislature.

Was there some fear behind this omission, Chief Justice Bandial wondered.

He observed that through the 18th Amendment, parliament had even added punishment to Article 62(1)(f), but made it conditional upon a declaration by a court of law. The observation came when the AGP highlighted that some of the members who had taken refuge at the Sindh House were elected on reserved seats under Article 51(6) of the Constitution, which talks of special seats for women and minorities proportionate to the number of seats won by a party.

Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel wondered whether members were bound to follow the dictates of their party head if the prime minister loses trust of the majority or if an action went against the national interest.

“Would it not be better for the President to call a meeting of all the parliamentary parties for evolving a consensus than instituting a reference before the court,” Justice Mandokhel wondered.

“This is what former President Ghulam Ishaq Khan used to do — holding meetings to oust the government of the day,” the AGP quipped.

Justice Mandokhel also observed could the court exercise judicial function while sitting to interpret Article 63A in the advisory jurisdiction especially when the Supreme Court cannot even add a full stop in the constitution.

“What is the issue with the President that he is seeking our opinion,” Justice Mandokhel observed, stressing that he would be the last person to favour ‘Lotas’ (turncoats). Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel observed that the government was apprehensive about defection when actual defection had taken place.

Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan spoke of a membership form which requires an undertaking that the member would be bound by the party discipline and must face consequences in case of breach of trust.

An occasion has arisen as the President had sought interpretation of certain provision of the constitution and it becomes the job of the top court to interpret the same. “We may refuse to interpret as the constitution court or interpret if there are certain confusion or return the same,” Justice Ahsan observed.

The AGP said the laws were made before the crime was committed and explained that the requirement of oath of the prime minister, as well as lawmakers, were different. Moreover, the party issued a certificate for the issuance of a symbol for election by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) if the member subscribes to the party manifesto.

The AGP argued that in Pakistan, Bangladesh and India, the stature of leaders were such that parties thrive on an individual’s name. To substantiate, the AGP cited the example of senior counsel Raza Rabbani who cried his heart out when the military courts were being established through a constitutional amendment, but chose to vote along party lines.

Any disagreement on policies in the party should not translate into vote against the prime minister, the AGP stated, adding unless “you sever your relationship with the party you belong to, you cannot create relationship with any other party”.

“if someone’s conscience has awakened suddenly, the person should write two lines and simply resign since defection is not a badge of honour.”

Let parliament decide by evolving a consensus, observed Justice Mandokhel.

The attorney general contended that the Constitution always speaks through the Supreme Court.

Rejecting Imran Khan’s claim of having a ‘trump card’ to defeat the opposition’s move to oust him from office, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz offered a word of advice to the prime minister on Firday, asking him to show some ‘self-respect’ and resign instead of seeking time to stay in government.

Addressing party workers at the PML-N’s secretariat in Model Town, she said: “Today, Imran Khan is crying for help not from the public but someone else pleading to come forward and help save his government. But let me tell him… no one will come to his rescue now. He is seeking NRO from everyone…going to his party men and allies whom he never bothered to talk to.”

Asking the PM to stop bluffing people on holding a trump card, she said: “Imran is left with no cards, rather his government’s days are numbered and this is writing on the wall.”

She also castigated Mr Khan for ‘threats’ to his own party members. “Imran is in power, yet over two dozen MNAs have left him. On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif is in opposition but not a single lawmaker parted ways with him despite worst political victimisation by the PTI regime during the past three-and-a-half years,” she claimed.

The PML-N leader said people would not come out in favour of the “selected” premier but would take to the streets against him under the banner of the opposition. She asked the party workers to get ready for the long march towards Islamabad to be kicked off on Saturday (today) from Model Town.

In her speech, Ms Nawaz hurled serious allegations against certain figures close to the prime minister. However, she did not offer anything to substantiate those allegations.

Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz also advised Imran Khan to resign if any grace was left in him.

The establishment and IK are playing the opposition and they’re succeeding.

Whilst PPP & PML-N supporters do their bhangra they should know that the plan is to call early elections and get PTI to win a 2/3 majority.

The establishment knows Imran Khan’s party may lose the elections if it’s held in 2023, because of one man. Someone who is against the establishment, someone corrupt who’ll look to bring back the likes of Nawaz and Zardari back into power.

The establishment put a case up against him at the Supreme Court, it was given to the FBR who then dismissed the case. The establishment failed to have this man disqualified, which is what lead them to plan B, enforcing an early election.

In October 2023, it’s not just the elections that will be making headlines, it’ll be the new CJP, Qazi Faez Isa.

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Saturday said that voting on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan will likely take place on April 3 or 4.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Rasheed said that by bringing the no-trust motion, the Opposition has actually helped Imran Khan, whose popularity has increased manifold since then.

Answering a question about PPP MNA Jam Abdul Karim, who is nominated in a murder case in Sindh, Rasheed said that he will be arrested upon arrival from Dubai.

The interior minister said that according to the law, the PPP “should have sought bail from the court”, adding that the suspect is brought here ahead of the voting on the no-trust and he will be arrested at the airport as they have no order from the court regarding his bail.

“I have directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Sindh police IG to arrest PPP MNA Jam Abdul Karim from the airport,” he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Sindh High Court on Friday granted 10-day protective bail to Karim in the Nazim Jokhio murder case, according to a Daily Dawn report.

Islamabad rallies

The interior minister said that everyone is allowed to hold public gatherings in Islamabad; however, according to the directions by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, no one will be allowed to enter the Red Zone.

He warned that nobody will be allowed to take the law into their hands as the apex court has tasked the interior ministry to maintain the law and order situation in the federal capital.

Replying to a question, the minister told the journalists that he had advised PM Imran Khan to move towards early elections and draft a pro-poor budget for the people of Pakistan.

Taking a jibe at the Opposition, he said that they are “fools” because they played a major role in the popularity of Imran Khan.

Referring to the social media campaign against the national security agencies of Pakistan, Rasheed said that he has asked director-general FIA to arrest all those who were talking nonsense about the security forces of Pakistan.

PM Imran thanks opposition for ‘boosting PTI’s popularity’

Prime Minister Imran Khan has “thanked” the opposition bigwigs — Shehbaz Sharif, Asif Zardari and Maulana Fazlur Rehman — for introducing no-confidence motion against him, saying it helped his party to regain popularity.

“Our estranged party workers have returned to [PTI] after seeing their [opposition leaders] real faces… nations fall when they stop differentiating between good and evil,” said the premier while addressing a public gathering in Punjab’s Kamalia district on Saturday.

Calling PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif a “boot polisher” and "Cherry blossom", the premier said he knew that if his government stayed in power he would be put behind bars due to corruption cases.

I agree it’s far fetched, but what got me even more convinced was seeing quite a lot of noonie tunes on sm talk about the exact same thing. They’re posting tweets like “wait till QFI becomes CJP”, I reckon an early election is something the opposition wouldn’t want.

this and they have given him a power boost for the next elections.
Who ever from PDM becomes an interim PM will be sacrificing his parties chances in the next elections.

The federal capital is braced for two back-to-back rallies from harsh political rivals on Sunday (today) and Monday (tomorrow), increasing the already feverish political temperature in the country in the wake of the no-confidence motion filed against Prime Minister Imran Khan by the joint opposition.

Charged workers from either side of the divide in far-off areas had already started their journey towards Islamabad in the shape of caravans, chanting slogans in favour of their respective parties and leaders and carrying placards and flags to show their political loyalties.

The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Isnaf (PTI) would hold a “historic” power show in Islamabad on Sunday (today), Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced. Similarly, the opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) planned to rally in the capital on Monday (tomorrow).

Workers from the PTI, as well as the constituent parties of the PDM – the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) – had set off for Islamabad and were on their way, according to the spokespersons and leaders in the two rival camps.

The PTI rally at Parade Ground, Islamabad, would be held under the theme ‘Amr Bil Maroof’, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said. “The public meeting will be the largest in the history of the country and have a great impact,” he told reporters at the venue.

“A few PTI caravans have reached the venue, while others are on their way from across the country to participate in the historic public meeting,” PTI leader Senator Faisal Javed Khan said. They said that the rally would repose confidence in the leadership of Imran Khan.

The party leaders said that the PTI workers would reach Islamabad at 3pm from all over the country. “Prime Minister Imran Khan will address the historic public gathering to expose the corrupt disgruntled politicians dancing to the tune of foreign powers,” the senator said.

Talking to the media along with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Maritime Affairs Minister Ali Zaidi at Bani Gala, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that more than one million people would attend the public meeting. "This will be the largest gathering in the history of Pakistan," he added.

Earlier, a PTI Sindh caravan, led by Opposition Leader in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh reached Islamabad. The PTI workers warmly welcomed the caravan at the parade ground. The caravan had started its journey from Karachi on Friday.

Meanwhile, on the request of the PTI, the Pakistan Railways would run two special trains – AC Business Class and Economy Class – between Lahore and Islamabad to transport the party workers. The trains would reach Margalla railway station on Sunday.

Similarly, the JUI-F supporters set off from various cities on Saturday. Party spokesperson Aslam Ghauri said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman would leave for Islamabad later in the day, adding that Maulana Ataur Rehman and Maulana Ataul Haq Darwish would lead another caravan from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the spokesperson, a caravan from Sindh, led by Rashid Mahmood Soomro, had reached Faisalabad, while the caravan from Balochistan, led by Maulana Sarwar Nadeem and Agha Fazlur Rehman Shah, had reached Zhob.

He added that the caravans from Punjab would be led by Dr Atiqur Rehman and Maulana Safiullah, while Maulana Ataullah Shehab would lead supporters from Gilgit-Baltistan and Maulana Saeed Yousuf and Maulana Imtiaz Abbasi would lead the caravans from Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

“All the caravans will gather at Hakla Interchange. All caravans will enter Islamabad under the leadership of Maulana Fazlur Rehman,” the spokesperson added. “The JUI-F workers are waiting for Maulana Fazlur Rehman at the interchange.”

According to reports, Fazl reached the Hakla Interchange. Long lines of vehicles had reached there even before the arrival of Fazl. Ansarul Islam workers were also present in the caravan. Workers have blocked traffic from Peshawar at Hukla Toll Plaza.

On the occasion, Fazl said that the government’s days were numbered, adding that the success of the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran would herald a new beginning in the country’s politics. “The most important thing is to save the country and that day is not far off.”

Also, PML-N vice presidents Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shehbaz were leading their party’s long march from Lahore. The caravan set off from the Model Town, where several party leaders joined them on the container they were travelling in.

Those participating in the anti-inflation march included Marriyum Aurangzeb, Muhammad Zubair, Bushra Anjum Butt, Saba Sadiq, Saif Khokhar and Faisal Khokhar. The marchers would reach Islamabad on Monday.

Reading through this thread, Game of Thrones has nothing on Pakistani politics with the open extortion of coalition partners, blackmail and horsetrading. However this is the danger with razor thin majorities.

The Chaudhry brothers of Gujrat always seem to manoeuvre themselves into power.

There's talk of simply disqualifying floor-crossing MNAs under the constitution but I read somewhere that can only be done after a vote and not before.

A Pakistani PM not completing a full term in office is nothing new. Perhaps elections should be held every four years instead of five, our people don't have patience for long tenures.

what options are left for President, can he announced Emergency for 3 months according to constitution ?

Imran now really playing with minds of the opposition, don't be surprised if opposition crumble like a pack of cards lol

The much-anticipated session of the National Assembly to deliberate on the no-confidence motion filed against Prime Minister Imran Khan by the opposition parties will be held today (Monday).

Earlier, the lower house of parliament was scheduled to take up the no-trust motion on March 25, but following the parliamentary traditions on the demise of a lawmaker, only Fateha was offered and speeches were given after which the NA speaker adjourned the session till March 28 (today).

The session had started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and prayers were held for PTI MNA Khayal Zaman.

Ruling PTI's Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Shireen Mazari, Asad Umar and Ali Muhammad Khan were among those attending the session, as well as Grand Democratic Alliance's Dr Fahmida Mirza.

From the opposition’s ranks, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari were present.

On Sunday, the National Assembly Secretariat issued ‘Orders of the Day’ for Monday’s session which included the no-confidence motion.

The opposition, which has 162 members, filed the con-confidence motion on March 8. The motion, moved by 152 opposition members, said that Prime Minister Imran had lost the confidence of the house. The ruling coalition currently has the support of 179 members of the National Assembly.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said on Monday that the next 72 hours were crucial, adding that the decision on no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan will be decided by March 30 or 31.

The minister’s remarks came whilst addressing a press briefing in Islamabad where he said that there was still no confirmation about the resolution being presneted in today's National Assembly session.

“Everything would be clear by March 31,” the minister said. “Situation can change even within an hour. The next 72 hours are very important; decisions will be made where they are supposed to be made.”

The minister further said that he had not seen any government (prime minister) complete its tenure. "PM Imran will play till the ‘last ball’," the interior minister asserted.

“I stand with Prime Minister Imran Khan. He is not for sale and whoever is standing with him is not for sale,” he said. “The establishment is with Pakistan. It is for the opposition to produce 172 members on the no-trust voting day to show its strength, not the government,” he added

Rashid maintained that he had not yet decided if he would contest in the next general elections.

“I do not forgive any attacker. I contested the 2018 election because Nawaz Sharif had challenged me,” he said.

In response to the PM’s claim of having "written proof" of foreign powers’ involvement in trying to topple his government, the minister said he was not aware of such a letter and that he only came to know about it when Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi mentioned it yesterday.

Regarding the PML-N rally reaching Islamabad, the minister said that the party was yet to notify the government of its route.

“The PML-N's gatherings are weaker than I expected,” he said. The minister said that he does not want any confrontation, adding that the JUI-F was wrongfully siting at Srinagar Highway as thee no-objection certificate issued to them had expired.

"This gang of three is not with each other. People should boycott those who are busy buying and selling [lawmakers for votes]. After today, whatever happens outside the assemblies is our responsibility,” he maintained.

The minister further said that he still stands by his suggestion of imposing governor rule in Sindh.

The much-anticipated session of the National Assembly to deliberate on the no-confidence motion filed against Prime Minister Imran Khan was adjourned till March 31 after opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif tabled the motion.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri was presiding over today's session.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif presented the motion in the lower house, which was followed by the counting procedure to determine the number of lawmakers in favour. More than 155 lawmakers were in favour of tabling the motion against the premier.

Following the count, the deputy speaker allowed Shehbaz to table the motion.

"Through this resolution, under clause 1 of Article 95 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, this House resolve that it has no confidence in the prime minister, Mr Imran Khan Niazi, and consequently, he shall cease to hold office under clause 4," the PML-N president readout.

After the motion was tabled against the premier, Suri adjourned the session till 4 pm on March 31.

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister announced on Tuesday that voting on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan will take place on April 3.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Rasheed revealed the much-awaited date, adding that debate on the motion — tabled by Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif on Monday — will begin on March 31.

Rasheed further said that the final decision would be taken till the last hour, adding that PM Imran Khan will play [fight] till the last ball.

Reiterating his support for the PTI-led government, he stated: “I stand with Imran Khan” and hoped that voting will be held peacefully on April 3.

The interior minister said that the official notification will be issued after PM Imran Khan accepts the resignation of Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar.

“In politics, some people win even after losing,” he said.

Following the power shows of the government and the Opposition, he said that all containers have been removed in Islamabad and all roads are clear.

The interior minister said that as he mentioned earlier Chaudhry brothers are with PTI. He, however, hoped that MQM-P will soon announce their decision in favour of the government.

“Their decision will be a decisive one,” he added.

“All those who have planned international conspiracies to remove PM Imran Khan will fail miserably,” he said, adding that all eyes are on the Supreme Court’s decision.

He further said that the government is trying to stop the Opposition from bringing 172 members on April 3, adding that he was very nervous regarding the no-confidence motion, however, after Sunday’s power show he is relaxed because the people of Pakistan are supporting Imran Khan.

Highlighting his suggestions once again, Rasheed said that he is in favour of immediate elections.

“I have suggested that elections should be held after Hajj and PM Imran Khan should present a pro-poor budget for the people,” he added.

A question. What does the parliamentary regulation say on next vote of confidence. Can PTI win this one and can opposition call for another one in 3 months ?

A question. What does the parliamentary regulation say on next vote of confidence. Can PTI win this one and can opposition call for another one in 3 months ?

As much as you would want that to happen, after a vote of confidence/no confidence another vote cannot be called within six months.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has barred the ruling PTI lawmakers from attending the National Assembly session on the day of voting on no-trust motion, which is likely to be held in the first week of April.

The premier issued the directives as head / leader of the parliamentary party of PTI on Tuesday, a day after the no-confidence motion was tabled in the lower house of the parliament against him by Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif.

“All the members of the Parliamentary Party of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the National Assembly of Pakistan shall abstain from voting/ not attend the meeting of the National Assembly on the date when the said resolution is set out on the agenda of the National Assembly for voting,” read a communiqué issued by the PTI.

“No member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf shall attend or make himself/herself available at the time and day of voting on the resolution of No-Confidence,” it added.

The handout said only designated parliamentary members will speak on behalf of PTI during the course of debate on the motion against the premier in the NA.

“All members are required to adhere to these directions in true letter & spirit and keep in mind the intent behind the provision of Article 63-A of Constitution of Pakistan, 1973.”

The PTI chief also warned all lawmakers that “no member shall violate any instruction or extend any favour, relating to the vote of no confidence, to any other parliamentary party / group whatsoever”.

It added that any violation of these directions will be treated as “express defection in terms of Article 63-A”.

The opposition, which has 162 members, filed the con-confidence motion on March 8. The motion, moved by 152 opposition members, said that Prime Minister Imran had lost the confidence of the house. The ruling coalition currently has the support of 179 members of the National Assembly.

The no-confidence move comes as Pakistan faces a recurring economic crisis, with the incumbent government banking on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to release the next tranche of a $6 billion rescue package to shore up dwindling foreign currency reserves. Imran, 69, a former captain of Pakistan's national cricket team, lost a parliamentary majority with a series of defections from his party, and a united opposition is calling on him to step down. He has vowed to fight to stay put.

In his power show in Islamabad on Sunday, PM Imran blamed a foreign-funded conspiracy for trying to topple his government.

Nearly 20 defections in the ruling party and cracks in Imran Khan’s coalition partners have made him short of the 172 votes, a simple majority, needed to hold on to power. To try to survive, the government announced it would give the post of chief minister of the country's largest province, Punjab, to one of its coalition partners.

But another ruling coalition party decided to join the opposition, making the opposition stronger with 168 votes.

Absconding PPP MNA Jam Karim Gets Protective Bail. Would Vote Against Imran to Fight for "Civilian Supremacy" and Save "Constitution"

PPP MNA granted protective bail in Nazim Jokhio murder case
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Friday granted 10-day protective bail to Pakistan Peoples Party MNA Jam Abdul Karim in the Nazim Jokhio murder case.

The PPP lawmaker, who is in Dubai, through his attorney moved the SHC seeking remedy to appear before the trial court.

His lawyer expressed the apprehension that the MNA might be arrested upon his return and sought protection.

Without touching the merits of the case, a two-judge bench headed by Justice Mohammad Iqbal Kalhoro granted protective bail against a solvent surety of Rs100,000 to the MNA directing him to surrender before the trial before or till April 3.

Young Nazim Jokhio was found murdered at the Malir farmhouse of PPP MPA Jam Awais in November last year. The MPA along with his MNA brother Jam Karim and others has been booked for allegedly torturing Nazim to death as he had tried to prevent his foreign guests from hunting houbara bustard.

Police have named the detained MPA and four others as accused in a charge sheet and shown the MNA as an absconding suspect in the case.

The protective bail will help the MNA to return to the country and take part in the voting on a no-confidence motion tabled by the joint opposition in the National Assembly against the prime minister.

Who controls SHC? Was he suspended by PPP after he fled?

Its not Billoo's fault... Billoo is dhoodh peeta bacha. Its not his fault that his party has thieves and murderers within. Typical jiyala logic.

Imagine if roles were reversed and an absconder PTI MNA on murder charges was returning from abroad to cast vote in favour of IK. Corruption supporters like [MENTION=135038]Major[/MENTION] would be slitting their wrists.

are you even serious here?

No on can control judiciary, judiciary is a separate branch

You are either very naive or disingenuous/deflective. I vote for the latter :)

Did you not hear Justice Qayyum taking orders from Showbaaz and what kind of verdict and length of jail term Benazir should get?

LHC has been stuffed with pro Nawaz judges for the past 30 years (who nominates and puts judges on the bench???)

Same with SHC and PPP. Past 15 years they have their people on it.

Instead of getting personal with others, its better to know about the type of govt system that exists in the country before posting conspiracies..

Judiciary is a separate branch from legislature and executive. The bail that has been issued, it has been issued by the judiciary. Hence, bash the judiciary.

there was a PTI MPA who had murder charges and was elected as the CM of Punjab.

Buzdar has murder charges against him, infact, it is well documented, he paid blood money for those murders

ISLAMABAD: In a major blow, MQM-P has decided to desert the ruling PTI and join hands with the joint Opposition to support their no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, Geo News reported on Wednesday.

Following the development, the government has lost the majority in the lower house and the no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan — on which the NA is expected to vote on April 3 — will likely be successful.

With 177 members, the Opposition now has more numbers in the National Assembly and they do not need the support of disgruntled PTI MNAs. On the other hand, the government is left with the support of only 164 members of parliament.

The MQM-P's decision to side with the Opposition came after both sides signed a draft prepared by Administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab, sources told Geo News.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari have also signed the agreement, sources said.

As Fazl was leaving the Parliament Lodges after the signing of the draft, a journalist asked the PDM chief why the Opposition had not formally announced the development. At this, he said: "Some internal matters have to be resolved between the parties."

Dawn

MQM is gone. It’s over.

Total shame that the so called protectors of muhajirs are going to support the parties which destroyed Karachi and killed thousands of muhajirs

The joint opposition and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) finally reached an agreement on late Tuesday night regarding the no-confidence motion tabled against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly.

The MQM-P spokesperson officially confirmed that an agreement was drafted with the opposition, saying details of the agreement would be revealed in a news conference at 4pm on Wednesday.

“The united opposition and MQM-P have reached an agreement. The MQM-P’s Rabita Committee and the PPP’s CEC will ratify the said agreement. We will then share the details with the media in a news conference. Congratulations Pakistan,” PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari tweeted.

Reportedly, the MQM-P joined the opposition after the PML-Q decided to side with the government when Premier Imran took resignation from Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and offered the position to PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in exchange for the party’s support on the no-trust motion against him.

Apparently, as the MQM-P has chosen sides, the opposition parties will have more than the required numbers to oust PM Imran through the vote of no confidence even without the PTI’s roughly two dozen dissidents.

The decision had to be announced in a late night news conference of the joint opposition and the MQM-P leadership at the Parliament Lodges but at around 3am, it was decided to make the announcement on Wednesday at 4pm.

Sources said that both the sides reached written agreements at provincial and federal level, assuring the MQM-P that all their demands would be fulfilled.

The MQM-P has been seeking an answer to its demands from both the government and the opposition in writing, saying that the party would side with whoever comes up with a better response as it has to satisfy its voters and supporters.

The demands included opening of the party’s offices, recovery of missing party workers, discarding of “fake” cases against the party leadership and workers, among other things.

MQM-P have sold their soles to the devil. How does this even make any sense? The whole point of MQM-P was to counter the influence of PPP.

I really hope the people of Karachi see through this notuki drama. I hope PM IK wins the vote against him and then shows all these lotas their true place.

One thing we know about Imran is that he never gives up. Him being voted out might actually rally people for him. And if there is free and fair election with neutral military, he might have a good chance to get a clear majority. Challenge will be to keep his party together and somehow handle foreign funding case.

Surprisingly I am noticing a LOT of people that are feeling sympathy with Imy and disgust at the actions of the opposition.

Even ardent PTI haters feel sorry for him, and the appointment of Pervez Elahi was met with muted disapointed at what Imran has to do, rather than anger.

Public is rightly angry with the ****** katta activities going on and the consensus ( from what I am seeing) is that chors and dacoit politicians that were once enemies are getting together to plunder Pakistan again.

Many members of my family are PPP supporters ( loyal through bhutto days and generally more liberal) or PMLN ( PMLN gets a lot of credit in Lahore lol) and are disgusted by whats going on.

If Imran survives and this is a big IF as its looking tight....then PTI will SWEEP the next elections.

Just saw a video of allegedly a Pakistani reporter saying that Shahbaz Sharif has starting getting protocol of a Prime Minister. How much of truth is in this ?

Once IK leaves office, that will be it for his political career. Do you seriously think the likes of PML N, PPP will spare him? I am seriously worried for his life and security. IK has upset the US

Not looking great at the moment for the PM.

Politics can change very quickly, however. (Both in terms of swings against him, and things going in his favour.)

It looks like army is supporting opposition now. Imran khan did his best to save Pakistan but thieves proved too powerful for him.
Can he still call for early election or he does not have that option now as he lose majority?

Nawaz Sharif Took Money from Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi, Osama, Pak Interior Minister Alleges

In the face of massive crisis, Pakistan Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid accused former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of taking bribe from Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi and Osama bin Laden. “Nawaz Sharif is a product of GHQ gate number four, Nawaz Sharif took money from Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi and Osama bin Laden,” he said.

napak fauj are the architects of most removals.

The day Pakistan is free from their grip is the way we will flourish.

This time however I do believe that they will switch their support to Imran eventually.

The entire scenario is eerily similar to what happened in 70s against ZAB. I really want the IK to win however the shameless manner in which opposition has gone about it says a lot of things. Firstly, the opposition is really planning something big the way they are going after this NCM. They don't care one bit about the country. The reason I can see oppositions really pursuing this are following:

- Bring Nawaz Sharif back in Pakistan. Make both Nawaz and his daughter eligible for elections again. This would be done by manipulating judiciary and if possible ala LHC would do them some good favours.
- Make a case against IK. This case can be around corruption or foreign funding. Possibly given the current scenario opposition can make a case IK that he put wellfare and security of country at risk by creating unrest in public through flaunting of the letter. Whatever the case would be they want IK either political dead or in literal sense.

We all know that what happened to ZAB in 70s was completely wrong. We as public are suffering the consequences of it till now. As Pakistani public we cannot let this happen to us for another 5 decades. We need to stop this madness where we as public count for nothing. We need public to be completely behind IK. The public should absolutely not accept these crooks in any way or form. IK need to call for early elections at the earliest for his safety and the safety of our country.

:))) enjoying what i am watching right now.

They made govt by joining hands with mqm, that same mqm which had become clean all of a sudden for pti fans.

And now mqm backstabs pti... I think pti should do another jalsa...

Parvez elahi was made cm, pti fans did bhangra thinking what a great move by imran, and now this....

Thank god it saved us from pervez elahi.

Tabdeeli jaree haii :))

Bro you haven't been able to list a single thing your party's done after decades in power. A noon league patwari posted some leaflets which were taken apart as either outright lies or false projects.

At worst you should be a neutral.

But don't worry. Elections probably in 6 months. PPP is never coming to power again.

Ik was our last chance he failed as well compromising on his stance and beliefs from the start and its now too late the wolves have gathered around him snarling for his blood.

I fully suspect pakistan will totally be destroyed and not exist in next 10 years as a viable state

Delusional and blind PTI fans will never understand.

They were out praising Pervaiz Elahi and his achievements when this was announced. Can you actually believe how stupid these people are?

The number game against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the no-confidence vote has entered its final phase with the government having a majority of only two votes over the joint opposition, excluding the vote count of PTI dissident lawmakers.

The latest numbers show that the ruling party has 171 parliamentarians on its side whereas the opposition enjoys the trust of 169 legislators. The one vote of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) can prove to be decisive.

Exactly... Mqm was chor govt, but when mqm joined pti they became good psrty and now look.

There were posters here who called dawn as liars because they specilated the parvez elahi news. And when that news became trye, they claimed as if it was a great move by imran.

They cant come to bashing imran

Whats even more funny is that they are talking about re election which is not even possible now as they dont even have the numbers for that.

Pti is gone now.

Imran would be remembered as the first pm to lose the confidence of the people and the guy whjo kept dialing Joe Bidens number but he never bothered picking it up

:)) Imran gaya, so you start wishing for pakistan to be destroyed mashallah..

When you lot won we we never made such wishes

Can’t believe some people are happy to have politicians who are basically slaves to Americans run their country🤦🏻*♂️

I pray and hope that Mqm does not even get a single seat in next elections. Things are not looking great as once these thieves establish the government there are all chances they will rig the next elections or do some kind of settlements. Just imagine the Fazlu as president of our country. With mqm backing out there are chances that establishment is behind them because mqm has always gone with the establishment in past. That's why although they lost majority of their seats against pti they still went in the government.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is likely to step down after his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s ally and the main coalition partner Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM) reached an agreement with the opposition Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). “The united opposition and MQM have reached an agreement. Rabta committee MQM and PPP CEC will ratify the said agreement.

Sindh government and Zardari have been harassing and intimidating the widow of Nazim Jokhio to withdraw the murder case and pardon MNA Jam Kamal. This is the real face of PPP - the face of brutality and cruelty. The lawyers of the widow have also confirmed this.

The text below is from Jibran Nasir, a human rights activist who has been following the case closely. He has also uploaded documents to back his claims on Facebook.

Prosecutor General Office being used by PPP to blame delay in #NazimJokhio case on IO ignoring that Magistrate has approved Challan for submission to ATC. Real issue is PG wants MNA Jam Karim's name removed from list of accused after Nazim's brother was forced to absolve MNA in 164 statement.

It is ridiculous for PG office to insist removal or MNA Jam Karim from list of accused as #NazimJokhio's brother Afzal absolved MNA Jam Karim stating "Jam Karim nay half lia ke mera qatal se koi taluq nahi". Police investigation aren't based on oaths, it's based on evidence.

Perhaps Advisor on Law to CM Sindh Murtaza Wahab can offer an explanation but then again he can't even explain how he is holds a political office as Advisor and a non partisan office like Administrator Karachi while also being the spokesperson of PPP all at the same time. Corruption is rampant from in PPP be it monetary or moral.

As expected, after 6 months of intimidation of the widow by Sindh government and Zardari, the widow has just now released a video saying he has pardoned MNA Jam Kamal. Well done PPP! Democracy and human rights have been saved.

Every other post states the "army" or "establishment" as some sort of God who can make things happen in the background as a sort of supreme force while the rest of the politicians/parties are merely players.

As long as this is the case in Pakistan, it doesn't even matter who the PM is. They might as well have a constant military government.

Nothings permanently over in politics. Both PTI and IK will fight and win elections again.

Very very difficult given judiciary and election commission are mostly with the legacy political parties pml n, and Co. Somwthing more bigger like a coup will be needed at the best of foreign interference in our govt. Otherwise don't see how they will allow Imran and pti to compete on level playing field in next election.

There is some news going on that pm had cancelled the address after meeting with coas and dg isi.

However he has released contents of the letter to journalist

What do you mean by judiciary is a separate branch ?

In our govt set up, there are three branches, legislative, exectutiveand judiciary.

While executive and legislative coincide with each other, judiciary does not. Judiciary operates as a seperate branch.

If judiciary is being influenced by someone else that is the fault of judiciary because judiciary being seperate cant be influenced by outsiders. No judge can be removed if he gies against politicalnpower.

You can further google about the three branches of govt
