Should be a great game.

I'd say 50/50 with India brilliant under pressure and Australia with a team full of match winners.

And the recent bad form of Aussie in ICC events continue :P Ind Wins

Obviously Aussie lost interest in ICC trophies since they owned them all till 2009 :D

The real challenge for indian team will be to stop aussies to run away with bat if india loses toss.

You need to come with a special bowling effort against this aggressive batting line up which will score 350 just for fun.

The to win this game lies in indian bowling and fielding

against aus, it will be easy.

i am more concerned about the final. NZ starting to handle pressure better. team india have to be careful against NZ.

Toss extremely important for India.

If Dhoni loses and Aus pile up a massive target batting first, then India are in all sorts of trouble.

But bowling second, in spin friendly conditions, India would back themselves defending anything above 280.

70-30 to Aus if they bat first
60-40 to Aus if they bowl first

90-10 in favour of aussies in any scenario.. Their batting is unstoppabble..it will be a miracle if we win

Probably won't get to see this match live, I have too much work :( Damn Australian time zone for the World Cup! They better make it worthwhile and get to the final at least!

I do like our chances but I think this is a different Indian team. Success breeds confidence and India have turned their tour around and gained momentum after flogging Pakistan. I think it's going to be pretty tight. But if we play at our best we should win, whether we bat first or second.

oh too bad....

but on the other hand, you will get save from the moment where aus will be kicked out. everything happens for good i guess. :-)

Their batting certainly wasn't unstoppable when they played NZ (same team whose bowling got hammered by SA who themselves did not even manage to get to 200 when they played IND).

Yea unfortunately my business cycle finishes this weekend and these last two days are really busy. Can't really stay up all night and still be functional all day tomorrow and Friday

Lack of passion is the reason why the Aussies will be getting lots of time to relax after today :)

All important tosscoming up
@ itachi, mate you will have enough time today as match might be wrapped early. Final looks delightful prospect for a neutral

Heard the stands are empty today. It's a weekday, I get that, but the fan following team India has, you'd still expect a full house especially since it's a WC semi.

India in trouble already. Now can they stop aussies juggernaut who will look to run away with the bat

yes! we will chase!

we need to make it tougher so that we have good practice against NZ.

So with Aus getting lucky with toss, they have a even bigger advantage.

Aus batting first! sensible-indian-fan your fears might come true!

We all know the real reason you are avoiding watching the game live.......................
.........................You can't stomach this upcoming defeat :)

Today the world of cricket may witness one of the games great epics.Few semi-finals have contained 2 very strong and evenly matched sides. It is reminiscent of West Indies and Australia final in 1975,West-Indies Pakistan semi-final in 1979,Australia-England final in 1987 and England.Pakistan final in 1992.The game is more like a world cup final. My head says Australia,my heart says India. If India possesses the same heart of the team of the 1983 world cup then India would win.Overall I think it is 60/40 in favour of Australia.

Points in Aussie's favour.
1.Australia has superior mental tenacity big match temperament,match-winning killer instinct and professionalism.Playing a semi-final is a totally different cup of tea than than playing a league game.Australia has never lost a world cup semi-final.

2.Australia has a superior bowling attack in the pace department with a Mitchel Starc and Mitchel Johnson.Hazelwood will also boost the Aussie attack.

3.Australia has greater batting depth with even Mitchel Starc capable of making a good score.

4.Australia has a better record in recent times winning 14 out of 15 games against India. In world cups it has a better record.

Points in India's favour.

1.It has played better than any side in all departments of the game in this world cup.Unlike Australia India has remained unbeaten in the competition and won it's games with greater conviction than New Zealand. No team has been as organized or have stuck to the task as well.India has bowled out every opposition side in this competition. They have stuck to the task more than any team.India has never played as well even in world cups they have won in 1983 and 2011.

2.The flat pitches like what we may possibly have at Sydney would be in favour of India. The Sydney conditions may well favour the Indian batsmen.Playing in Australia for over 3 months has made them superbly acclimatize themselves to the Australian conditions.

3.India has the best batting line up in terms of class with Virat Kohli.Rphit Sharma,Shikar Diwan,Suresh Raina,Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. No team has organizaed it's batting as well as India. In the bowing India has consistently stuck to accuracy and length or line more than any team in the competition.

4.Australia may be hard -pressed against the Indian spinners like Ashwin.

5.The crowd is 60%Indian which will boost India.

6.Historically India has beaten Australia numerous times in a world cup.

In the quarter -final match against Pakistan Australia exposed some chinks in their armour particularly Michael Clarke and Shane Watson against Wahab Riaz.India does not posess the pace bowling variations and agression of Pakistan or Australia. On the other hand Australia proved how their bowling attack can spring out like a tiger leaping out of an Ambush in the game against New Zealand. It is not as strong an Aussie teams like in 2003 or 2007 or even 1999 but it is still the most professional team of the competition.

Can India stop Aussies from getting 350?

All right folks, heard enough of uselessanalysis and match build up. However this is what matter in the end
India bowling first and they must stop Aussies to a reasonable total read 300.

However, indian bowling which is supposed to be on fire will face their real test today

Batting first in a semifinal at home ain't easy, expecting some nerves from the Aussies #BleedBlue

Shastri: "Absolutely fine (when asked how are the soldiers). They are ready and up for it like never before, let me assure you that. They want to go out there and play fearless, aggressive cricket and enjoy the occasion. They don't need any motivation, they've played fabulous cricket in this World Cup. They know each one of them can hold their heads high with the way they have played and as a unit they have looked fabulous. Today is game 8 and they have to approach it just in that fashion that they've approached the other ones. Doesn't matter (when told that game 8 is against Australia). Not at all (when reminded that there have to be scars from what's gone before). That's all baggage. This is the big one, those mickey mouse tournaments are over. This is where you want to win. Absolutely not (when asked if Australia have the wood over India). We are the defending champions, we are the favourites, pressure on Australia."

shastri is pumped up! yes!

Overrated Aussie batting is overrated.

Top 6 are proven hacks, bar Smith and Clarke.

Indian bowling has been good this tournament should be able to tie down half baked batsmen like Finch and Shane Bounceson.

Can already sense a Shami special. 5fer on the cards for him.

I suppose 350 is on the cards. India will take anything under 320 though

Nasser Hussain just said something about in the last 10 games at the SCG 9 games have been won chasing and 1 batting first, the lights have no effect on the pitch. So its all about who handles the pressure the best.

Yes aussies batting is overrated but very lethal. Now cimung to over rated. What about indian bowling

Shami will make shami kebabs out of these shoddy Aussie batsmen.

let me make you remember....

Aussies will thrash Indians so hard, that Indians will be bleeding yellow, orange, purple, red, green, white and black..

.. but not blue

If Aus scores 330, then they will win, India need to restrict them to 310-315 atmost

This is the game I have been waiting for for a long time. Wish it was on a weekend tho. Have work in 2 hours time. Then it is Cricinfo time.

Can already see Finch shivering.

Not going to get to double digits.
