This is why it is humiliating. There is no possible way for India to compensate for the 100/17 in this series. Even winning by 10 wickets or 300+ runs won’t compensate for 100/17 at home with your GOAT Test team.

Noone (barring the low IQ internet trolls) cares about these one off low scores if we end up winning the series.

We win still remain the only team in the world who haven't lost a home test series in 12 years. Teams like Pakistan will take a dozen 46 all outs if that meant they keep winning home series...rather than getting clean swept by Bangladesh.

Answer is simple... All batsmen (even hard-core domestic batsmen) are knocking the IPL doors (T20 cricket) and to be successful in IPL they should learn to hit hard (score on every ball). For e.g., Sarfaraz guy we know him (we remember him) more for his heroics with RCB team (more than what he has done in domestics) Maybe he is still part of some IPL team... This has spoiled the technique of many Test-Specialist Batsmen (for instance even Kohli has been a failure in test cricket for various demands across various formats and various stages... He is already both mentally & physically drained with his commitments in RCB)

So we fans have to live with this... But at least IPL has improved our mental toughness and also the quality & stamina (+adaptability) of our bowlers is improved now! Even though we are not winning many ICC trophies post-IPL we are at least being dominant at home + extremely competitive overseas (its not like we are getting hammered in South Africa, England, NZ... We are at least competitive and many close games & drawn series). We fans are somehow happy with this, but at the same time we are also angry because with bit of sensible moves we can improve our performance in International Cricket.

Like shielding some players from playing IPL (by paying them some higher amount for not being part of IPL) players like Pant, Rahul, Sarfaraz, Jaiswal, etc, should never be playing IPL... (If so, they will be even more consistent in Test Cricket. Somebody like KL Rahul is the best example of how a really good cricketer can turn out to become a clown!) Also bowlers like Siraj - if they don't play IPL they can improve their mental & physical strength for test cricket... Also even if some of these players don't play IPL it won't affect IPL tournament. We have enough IPL specialists like Rinku, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma, SKY, etc.. The show can run (heck we can even increase foreign players to 5 or 6 per team if needed). But we don't have plan-B for giving financial & cricketing security to test specialists...

But all these is not going to happen and the system is more commercial-centric rather than chasing victories (Australian Cricket Board is different and they would be handling this situation & resources differently!) So we have to live with this below-par performances... But our talent-resources should not be blamed for this...

The issue with handling moving ball is because batsmen have lost their patience in defense (even Pakistani batsman are better in defensive cricket than Indians today! All because of the demands of IPL) Historically Indian Batsmen were actually good in handling moving balls. In 70s & 80s we had success in England & NZ rather than Aus & WI/SA... Also we won world cup in England when conditions in ODI were more bowler-friendly... We also had many bowlers/alrounders who could swing the ball nicely... (like England & NZ today)... All has changed now...

There's no fun left in flogging a dead horse i.e Pakistan cricket. 356 v 128, not even making the Asia Cup final, not even bronze at the Asian games cricket , WC loss to Afghanistan, defeat to USA and subsequent exit from WT20 , zero Test series wins at home since 3 years , clean swept by Bangladesh....you name it they've copped it all. Pak fans do not fight him back anymore and have started agreeing with the cliches.

So what's the next significant group to target, go against the flow and get attention on this forum? You guessed it right. It's not that hard to see what it is lol.

I am here because India is maligned here by Pakistanis (and some of their opinion seeking Indian buddies) everyday, and I would like to provide an alternative viewpoint.

You are putting up as much of a fight in this debate as the Indian batsmen do against the moving ball.

Losing at home after scoring 500+ is not nearly as humiliating as losing at home after getting shot for 46 on the same pitch where NZ scored 400 in their first innings.

Had India dismissed NZ for less than a 100 as well, they would have been able to protect their dignity by proving that the pitch was extremely difficult to bat on.

Furthermore, Australia didn’t have Warne and McGrath and even Lee. An Australian Test bowling attack without those three in the 2000s doesn’t even resemble an ATG level attack, so there is no need of flaunting that victory. It came against a pacer like Brad Williams who only played 4 Tests and averaged 45.

You can keep searching but you will keep failing. There aren’t any examples of an ATG team getting humiliated at home like India did vs NZ.
 
Tbh I don't India played that badly in this test match barring the first innings which was a meltdown of epic proportions

Agreed. This is an ageing outfit. India will be going to Australia for the BGT as massive underdogs.

Also won't be amongst the favourites for white ball tournaments in the near future either.

They weren't in the past either but we're hyped because of a few individuals - Rohit, Kohli, Bumrah.

There were too many mediocrities like Jadeja, SKY(ODIs) , Dhoni(2019) , Jadhav, DK etc. to balance that out.

Now that the big names are in decline , there is no need to expect anything from this team .

We are only above Bangladesh currently in white ball cricket. Everybody else can beat us on their days.

Sigh, I have been hearing the same thing since the 1980s. Everyone back then was saying that Indian cricket would be finished after Kapil Dev and Gavaskar retire.

Cricket is a great leveller. One match previously they beat test minnow BD in two days and their fans acted like as they are prime Aus of 2003-2007. Then in the very next test series match v NZ, New Zealand bowled them out for 46 in the first innings at home. even BD never got bowled out for less than 100runs at home by a SENA nation ever, let alone for less than 50.

However, as I mentioned in the other thread, these are the signs of a faltering unit. The World Cup final, the humiliation in Sri Lanka, the 100/17 at home. The first time India have lost two Tests at home in the same year since 2012.

Indian cricket is going back to the 2000s level and Gambhir is not the right man to arrest that decline and keep up the momentum that India developed under Shastri in particular.

You always have to look and see what India achieved during their era of dominance. Very little.

Indian fans should look back with a lot of regret because nothing stopped them from winning at least two ODI WCs, a WTC and a series win in ENG/NZ/SA except for their own lack of talent and application.

talking of talent last i read , the bottom ranked team in wtc had to resort to playing a 30 year plus and 38 year washed up spinner on akhada pitch to make sure they dont lose another test match after scoring 550.

It becomes humiliating because of the utter dominance they possessed till this point! For some other team it is a routine to lose against all teams including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Ireland, USA, etc. So no one bothers, but yes it becomes a serious issue if India loses at home, everyone's attention will be drawn...

Pakistani posters are overreacting for the sake of overreacting, don't let it get to you.

It isn't a humilation in the sense that India shpuld be ashamed. They lost to NZ which is a professional team. They didn't lose to USA lol.

However it is an eye opener for Indian fans who got way to ahead of themselves.

I told everyone that their carrying dead baggage and that Bumrah’s golden stride would eventually end.

You guys need to stop overhyping and BCCI needs to start getting rid of dead weight.

Taking ashwin and jadeja to Australia is suicide, so is rohit and kohli. And playing Bumrah in all games means you're very very quickly headed to an early bumrah retirement. You don't want that for the best bowler you guys have ever produced.

Can't you answer the simple question : has the humiliation reached you now ? There is no shame is admitting it. Its' actually shameless trying to run away from it.

Pakistan lost three consecutive sundays to India, and despite being the lesser team, despite the fight they showed in the final, Yes it was an humiliation.

It was humiliation not only because they lost on 3 consecutive weekends but after all the hoopla they made off field.

Nevertheless, the question is why you were hiding then and all these while and suddenly now bumping all threads because another team has done the job which your team couldnt.

South Africa is not your team, remember?

Who told you SA is not my team? I was not hiding anywhere. I was absent from the forum for some time.
I am not posting after the series defeat. Even before the series, I posted 2-0 for SA in the series thread.

I'm trying to answer you questions, now can you tell me, do you feel the humiliation or not ? If you don't feel it, it's not necessarely a good news. ( ab Baezti mehsoos hi nahi hoti ?)
